In this paper, we found a new representation for self-duality . In addition, exact solution class of the classical SU(2) Yang–Mills field in four-dimensional Euclidean space and two exact solution classes for SU(2) Yang–Mills when ρ is a complex analytic function are also obtained. A model of grand unified theory based on SU(6) gauge group is proposed. It can accommodate two generations of ordinary fermions with VA weak coupling and two generations of anomalous fermions with V+A weak coupling. In this model a new discrete symmetry is introduced which insures existence of fermions with lower masses when SU(6) gauge symmetry is spontaneously broken. We choose simple Higgs fields with appropriate vacuum expectation values so that the masses of anomalous fermions are heavier than those of ordinary fermions. This model also gives the same value of Weinberg angle, sin2θw=3/8, as in the usual SU(5) grand unified model at the grand unified scale.  相似文献

It is shown that an SU(2) Higgs model on a lattice is equivalent to the Georgi-Glashow model in the limit of a small coupling constant between the Higgs and gauge fields. It can therefore be concluded that the transition between the confinement and symmetric phases in a 3 + 1 dimensional SU(2) Higgs model at finite temperature is accompanied by condensation of Nambu monopoles. We study the one-loop new physics effects to the CP even triple neutral gauge boson vertices γ γ Z, γ Z Z, Z Z γ and Z ZZ in the context of Little Higgs models. We compute the contribution of the additional fermions in Little Higgs models in the framework of direct product groups where [SU(2)×U(1)]2 gauge symmetry is embedded in SU(5) global symmetry and also in the framework of the simple group where SU(NU(1) gauge symmetry breaks down to SU(2) L ×U(1). We calculate the contribution of the fermions to these couplings when T parity is invoked. In addition, we re-examine the MSSM contribution at the chosen point of SPS1a′ and compare with the SM and Little Higgs models.  相似文献

We discuss the possible new electroweak interactions which may be generated by the Higgs sector at the scale of theZ mass. For this purpose, we give a set ofSU(2)×U(1) gauge invariant operators constructed in terms ofW, Z, γ and Higgs fields which in the unitary gauge describe all possible γWW andZWW anomalous couplings. The dimension of these operators varies from 6 to 12. This fact allows us to consider various scenaria for the manifestations of the New Physics. We conclude that the underlying dynamics induced by the Higgs sector can be tested through a model-independent amplitude analysis of gauge boson pair production at LEP2 and future colliders.  相似文献

A Higgsless model for strong, electroweak and gravitational interactions is proposed. This model is based on the local symmetry group SU(3)×SU(2)L×U(1)×C,where C is the local conformal symmetry group. The natural minimal conformally invariant form of total Lagrangian is postulated. It contains all standard model fields and gravitational interaction. Using the unitary gauge and the conformal scale fixing conditions, we can eliminate all four real components of the Higgs doublet in this model. However, the masses of vector mesons, leptons, and quarks are automatically generated and are given by the same formulas as in the conventional standard model. In this manner one gets the mass generation without the mechanism of spontaneous symmetry breaking and without the remaining real dynamical Higgs field. The gravitational sector is analyzed, and it is shown that the model admits in the classical limit the Einsteinian form of gravitational interactions.  相似文献

Starting with the definition of quaternion gauge theory, we have undertaken the study of SU(2) e ×SU(2) m ×U(1) e ×U(1) m in terms of the simultaneous existence of electric and magnetic charges along with their Yang-Mills counterparts. As such, we have developed the gauge theory in terms of four coupling constants associated with four-gauge symmetry SU(2) e ×SU(2) m ×U(1) e ×U(1) m . Accordingly, we have made an attempt to obtain the abelian and non-Abelian gauge structures for the particles carrying simultaneously the electric and magnetic charges (namely dyons). Starting from the Lagrangian density of two SU(2)×U(1) gauge theories responsible for the existence of electric and magnetic charges, we have discussed the consistent theory of spontaneous symmetry breaking and Higgs mechanism in order to generate the masses. From the symmetry breaking, we have generated the two electromagnetic fields, the two massive vector W ± and Z 0 bosons fields and the Higgs scalar fields.  相似文献

We prove that the Prasad-Sommerfield dyon (monopole) solution for an SU(2) Yang-Mills field coupled with an SU(2) Higgs multiplet can be associated to a certain minimal immersion in S 3 (SU(2)) i.e. it has a differential-geometric content similar to that of self-dual solutions for the pure SU(2) Yang-Mills field. Implications of this result as well as possibilities to extend it to higher gauge groups are discussed.  相似文献

In this review, we consider an N = 4 supersymmetric SU(3N) gauge theory defined on the Minkowski spacetime. Then we apply an orbifold projection leading to an N = 1 supersymmetric SU(N)3 model, with a truncated particle spectrum. Then, we present the dynamical generation of (twisted) fuzzy spheres as vacuum solutions of the projected field theory, breaking the SU(N)3 spontaneously to a chiral effective theory with unbroken gauge group the trinification group, SU(3)3.  相似文献

We study phenomenological consequences of the Standard Model extension by the new spin-1 fields with the internal quantum numbers of the electroweak Higgs doublets. We show, that there are at least three different classes of theories, all motivated by the hierarchy problem, which predict appearance of such vector weak-doublets not far from the weak scale. The common feature for all the models is the existence of an SUW(3) gauge extension of the weak SUW(2) group, which is broken down to the latter at some energy scale around TeV. The Higgs doublet then emerges as either a pseudo-Nambu-Goldstone boson of a global remnant of SUW(3), or as a symmetry partner of the true eaten-up Goldstone boson. In the third class, the Higgs is a scalar component of a high-dimensional SUW(3) gauge field. The common phenomenological feature of these theories is the existence of the electroweak doublet vectors (Z?,W?), which in contrast to well-known Z and W bosons posses only anomalous (magnetic moment type) couplings with ordinary light fermions. This fact leads to some unique signatures for their detection at the hadron colliders.  相似文献

We consider a spontaneously broken gauge theory based on the standard model (SM) group with scalar fields that carry arbitrary representations of G, and we investigate some general properties of the charged and neutral current involving these fields. In particular we derive the conditions for having real or complex couplings of the Z boson to two different neutral or charged scalar fields, and for the existence of CP-violating Z-scalar-scalar couplings. Moreover, we study models with the same fermion content as in the SM, with one SU(2) Higgs singlet, and an arbitrary number of Higgs doublets. We show that the structure of the Z-Higgs boson and of the Yukawa couplings in these models can be such that CP-violating form factors which conserve chirality are induced at the one-loop level. We have constructed the first “realistic candidate” preon model with low composite scale satisfying complementarity between the Higgs and confining phases. The model is based onSU(4) metacolor and predicts four generations of ordinary quarks and leptons together with heavy neutrinos at the level of the standard gauge groupSU(3) c ×SU(2) L ×U(1) Y . There are no exotic massless fermions. The global family group isSU(2)×U(1).  相似文献

I present an argument, based on the topology of the universe, why there are three generations of fermions. The argument implies a preferred unified gauge group of SU(5), but with SO(10) representations of the fermions. The breaking pattern SU(5) → SU(3) × SU(2) × U(1) is preferred over the pattern SU(5) → SU(4) × U(1). On the basis of the argument one expects an asymmetry in the early universe microwave data, which might have been detected already.  相似文献

We show that three dimensional Chern-Simons gauge theories with a compact gauge groupG (not necessarily connected or simply connected) can be classified by the integer cohomology groupH 4(BG,Z). In a similar way, possible Wess-Zumino interactions of such a groupG are classified byH 3(G,Z). The relation between three dimensional Chern-Simons gauge theory and two dimensional sigma models involves a certain natural map fromH 4(BG,Z) toH 3(G,Z). We generalize this correspondence to topological spin theories, which are defined on three manifolds with spin structure, and are related to what might be calledZ 2 graded chiral algebras (or chiral superalgebras) in two dimensions. Finally we discuss in some detail the formulation of these topological gauge theories for the special case of a finite group, establishing links with two dimensional (holomorphic) orbifold models.  相似文献

By exhibiting the relationship between the fullSU(5) theory in the unitary gauge and the underlying Higgs-Goldstone system in thet'Hooft-Feynman gauge the high energy limits of amplitudes (involving gauge and Higgs bosons) can be calculated easily. As an application tree unitarity bounds on Higgs parameters and masses are discussed.  相似文献

The study of superconductivity has been undertaken through the breaking of supersymmetric gauge theories which automatically incorporate the condensation of monopoles and dyons leading to confining and superconducting phases. Constructing the effective Lagrangian near a singularity in moduli space for N=2 supersymmetric theory with SU(2) gauge group, it has been shown that when a mass term is added to this Lagrangian, the N=2 Supersymmetry is reduced to N=1 supersymmetry yielding the dyonic condensation which leads to confinement and superconductivity as the consequence of generalized Meissner effect. In the Coulomb phase of N=2 SU(3) Yang–Mills theory the gauge symmetry has been broken down to SU(2)×U(l) and it has been shown that on perturbing it by suitable tree-level superpotential this supersymmetry theory breaks to N=1 SU(2) Yang-Mills theory described by Higgs field in confining phase incorporating superconductivity.

It is well known that in single step breaking of R-parity conserving SUSY SO(10) that needs the Higgs representations , the GUT gauge coupling violates the perturbative constraint at mass scales a few times larger than the GUT scale. Therefore, if the SO(10) gauge coupling is to remain perturbative up to the Planck scale ( GeV), the scale MU of the GUT symmetry breaking is to be bounded from below. The bound depends upon specific Higgs representations used for SO(10) symmetry breaking but, as we find, cannot be lower than $1.5 \times 10$17 GeV. In order to obtain such a high unification scale we propose a two-step SO(10) breaking through SU(2)L $\times$ SU(2)R $\times$ U(1)B-L $\times$SU(3)C ( ) intermediate gauge symmetry. We estimate the potential threshold and gravitational corrections to the gauge coupling running and show that they can make the picture of perturbative gauge coupling running consistent at least up to the Planck scale. We also show that when by the Higgs representations , gravitational corrections alone with negligible threshold effects may guarantee such perturbative gauge coupling. The lifetime of the proton is found to increase by nearly 6 orders over the present experimental limit for . For the proton decay mediated by a dim = 5 operator a wide range of lifetimes is possible, extending from the current experimental limit up to values 2-3 orders longer. In order to explain the fermions’ masses and mixing parameters appearing in the lepton sector of the Standard Model, one proposes the extension of its symmetry. A discrete, non-Abelian subgroup of U(3) is added to the gauge group SU(3) C × SU(2) L × U(1) Y . Apart from that, one assumes the existence of one extra Higgs doublet. This article focuses mainly on the mathematical theorems and computational techniques which brought us to the results.  相似文献

The possibility of introducing the discrete symmetry D is studied, which along with SUc(3) × SUL(2) × U(1)-symmetry, remains after the breaking of SO(N) grand unified symmetry by the Higgs fields vevs ~ 1015 GeV. The D quantum number distinguishes the fermions coupled with W-bosons via left and right currents. As a result, the presence of low-mass fermions in the theory is provided.  相似文献
