Building upon Vaughan Pratt's work on applications of Chu space theory to Stone duality, we develop a general theory of categorical dualities on the basis of Chu space theory and closure conditions, which encompasses a variety of dualities for topological spaces, convex spaces, closure spaces, and measurable spaces (some of which are new duality results on their own). It works as a general method to generate analogues of categorical dualities between frames (locales) and topological spaces beyond topology, e.g., for measurable spaces, convex spaces, and closure spaces. After establishing the Chu duality theory, we apply the state-observable duality between quantum lattices and closure spaces to coalgebraic representations of quantum symmetries, showing that the quantum symmetry groupoid fully embeds into a purely coalgebraic category, i.e., the category of Born coalgebras, which refines, through the quantum duality that follows from Chu duality theory, Samson Abramsky's fibred coalgebraic representations of quantum symmetries (which, in turn, builds upon his Chu representations of symmetries).  相似文献

Employing a formal analogy between ordered sets and topological spaces, over the past years we have investigated a notion of cocompleteness for topological, approach and other kind of spaces. In this new context, the down-set monad becomes the filter monad, cocomplete ordered set translates to continuous lattice, distributivity means disconnectedness, and so on. Curiously, the dual(?) notion of completeness does not behave as the mirror image of the one of cocompleteness; and in this paper we have a closer look at complete spaces. In particular, we construct the “up-set monad” on representable spaces (in the sense of L. Nachbin for topological spaces, respectively C. Hermida for multicategories); we show that this monad is of Kock–Zöberlein type; we introduce and study a notion of weighted limit similar to the classical notion for enriched categories; and we describe the Kleisli category of our “up-set monad”. We emphasise that these generic categorical notions and results can be indeed connected to more “classical” topology: for topological spaces, the “up-set monad” becomes the lower Vietoris monad, and the statement “X   is totally cocomplete if and only if XopXop is totally complete” specialises to O. Wyler's characterisation of the algebras of the Vietoris monad on compact Hausdorff spaces as precisely the continuous lattices.  相似文献

Abstract

Let X be an arbitrary category with an (E, M)-factorization structure for sinks. A notion of constant morphism that depends on a chosen class of monomorphisms was previously used to provide a generalization of the connectedness-disconnectedness Galois connection (also called torsion-torsion free in algebraic contexts). This Galois connection was shown to factor through the class of all closure operators on X with respect to M. Here, properties and implications of this factorization are investigated. In particular, it is shown that this factorization can be further factored. Examples are provided.  相似文献

We study some categorical aspects of quasi-uniform spaces (mainly separation and epimorphisms) via closure operators in the sense of Dikranjan, Giuli, and Tholen. In order to exploit better the corresponding properties known for topological spaces we describe the behaviour of closure operators under the lifting along the forgetful functor T from quasi-uniform spaces to topological spaces. By means of appropriate closure operators we compute the epimorphisms of many categories of quasi-uniform spaces defined by means of separation axioms and study the preservation (reflection) of epimorphisms under the functor T.  相似文献

We study a family of idempotent categorical closure operators in the category of topological Abelian groups (and continuous homomorphisms) related to the von Neumann's kernel. The prominent role is played by the idempotent closure operator g also related to questions from Diophantine approximations and ergodic theory.  相似文献

A notion of compactness with respect to a previously introduced notion of functor induced closure operator is presented and analyzed. Even though this new notion shows very similar properties to compactness with respect to the classical notion of categorical closure operator, in general the two concepts are different. Examples are provided.  相似文献

Abstract

A categorical characterization of the category Haus of Hausdorft topological spaces within the category Top of topological spaces is given. A notion of a Hausdorff nearness space is then introduced and it is proved that the resulting subcategory Haus Near of the category Near of nearness spaces fulfills exactly the same characterization as derived for Haus in Top. Properties of Haus Near and relations to other important sub-categories of Near are studied.  相似文献

In this paper we will generalize the representation theory developed for finite Tarski algebras given in [7]. We will introduce the notion of Tarski space as a generalization of the notion of dense Tarski set, and we will prove that the category of Tarski algebras with semi-homomorphisms is dually equivalent to the category of Tarski spaces with certain closed relations, called T-relations. By these results we will obtain that the algebraic category of Tarski algebras is dually equivalent to the category of Tarski spaces with certain partial functions. We will apply these results to give a topological characterization of the subalgebras. Received August 21, 2005; accepted in final form December 5, 2006.  相似文献

The main purpose of this paper is to introduce the concept of intuitionistic I-fuzzy quasi-coincident neighborhood systems of intuitiostic fuzzy points. The relation between the category of intuitionistic I-fuzzy topological spaces and the category of intuitionistic I-fuzzy quasi-coincident neighborhood spaces are studied. By using fuzzifying topology, the notion of generated intuitionistic I-fuzzy topology is proposed, and the connections among generated intuitionistic I-fuzzy topological spaces, fuzzifying topological spaces and I-fuzzy topological spaces are discussed. Finally, the properties of the operators Iω, ι are obtained.  相似文献

In an E,M-categoryX for sinks, we identify necessary conditions for Galois connections from the power collection of the class of (composable pairs) of morphisms inM to factor through the lattice of all closure operators onM, and to factor through certain sublattices. This leads to the notion ofregular closure operator. As one byproduct of these results we not only arrive (in a novel way) at the Pumplün-Röhrl polarity between collections of morphisms and collections of objects in such a category, but obtain many factorizations of that polarity as well. (One of these factorizations constituted the main result of an earlier paper by the same authors). Another byproduct is the clarification of the Salbany construction (by means of relative dominions) of the largest idempotent closure operator that has a specified class ofX-objects as separated objects. The same relation that is used in Salbany's relative dominion construction induces classical regular closure operators as described above. Many other types of closure operators can be obtained by this technique; particular instances of this are the idempotent and modal closure operators that in a Grothendieck topos correspond to the Grothendieck topologies.Dedicated to Professor Dieter Pumplün, on his 60th birthdayResearch partially supported by the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, University of Puerto Rico, Mayagüez Campus during a sabbatical visit at Kansas State University.  相似文献

Abstract

In this paper, the concept of strong inclusion orders between L-subsets is introduced. As a tool, it is applied to the following aspects. Firstly, the notion of algebraic L-closure operators is proposed and the resulting category is shown to be isomorphic to the category of L-convex spaces (also called algebraic L-closure spaces). Secondly, restricted L-hull operators, as generalizations of restricted hull operators, are introduced and the resulting category is also proved to be isomorphic to the category of L-convex spaces. Finally, by using the properties of strong inclusion orders, it is shown that the category of convex spaces can be embedded in the category of stratified L-convex spaces as a reflective subcategory and the concrete form of the coreflective functor from the category of L-convex spaces to the category of stratified L-convex spaces is presented.  相似文献

Considering subobjects, points and a closure operator in an abstract category, we introduce a generalization of the Hausdorff separation axiom for topological spaces: the notion ofT 2-object. We discuss the properties ofT 2-objects, which depend essentially on the behaviour of points, and finally we relate them to the well-known separated objects. The results of this paper are essentially taken from the author's Ph. D. Thesis written under the supervision of Professors M. Sobral and W. Tholen and partially supported by a scholarship of I.N.I.C.-Instituto Nacional de Investigação Científica.  相似文献

We present a framework for extending Stone's representation theorem for distributive lattices to representation theorems for distributive lattices with operators. We proceed by introducing the definition of algebraic theory of operators over distributive lattices. Each such theory induces a functor on the category of distributive lattices such that its algebras are exactly the distributive lattices with operators in the original theory. We characterize the topological counterpart of these algebras in terms of suitable coalgebras on spectral spaces. We work out some of these coalgebraic representations, including a new representation theorem for distributive lattices with monotone operators.  相似文献

Abstract

This paper presents a categorical formulation of the neighborhood axioms of topological spaces including a characterization by the corresponding axioms of interior operators. Properties as Hausdorff's separation axioms, compactness are discussed, and various links to internal topologies of topoi, fuzzy topologies, etc. are given.  相似文献

R.-E. Hoffmann [5,6] has introduced the notion of an (E,M)-universally topological functor, which provides a categorical characterization of the T0-separation axiom of general topology. In this paper, we characterise these functors in terms of the unique extension of structure functors defined on the subcategory of “separated” objects (of the domain category). This, in turn, leads to a solution of some problems due to G.C.L. Brümmer [1,2]. Other results include a generalization of L. Skula's characterization of the bireflective subcategories of Top [10].  相似文献

The notion of a Priestley relation between Priestley spaces is introduced, and it is shown that there is a duality between the category of bounded distributive lattices and 0-preserving join-homomorphisms and the category of Priestley spaces and Priestley relations. When restricted to the category of bounded distributive lattices and 0-1-preserving homomorphisms, this duality yields essentially Priestley duality, and when restricted to the subcategory of Boolean algebras and 0-preserving join-homomorphisms, it coincides with the Halmos-Wright duality. It is also established a duality between 0-1-sublattices of a bounded distributive lattice and certain preorder relations on its Priestley space, which are called lattice preorders. This duality is a natural generalization of the Boolean case, and is strongly related to one considered by M. E. Adams. Connections between both kinds of dualities are studied, obtaining dualities for closure operators and quantifiers. Some results on the existence of homomorphisms lying between meet and join homomorphisms are given in the Appendix.  相似文献

Directed spaces are the objects of study within directed algebraic topology. They are characterised by spaces of directed paths associated to a source and a target, both elements of an underlying topological space. The algebraic topology of these path spaces and their connections are studied from a categorical perspective. In particular, we study the preorder category associated to a directed space and various “quotient” categories arising from algebraic topological functors. Furthermore, we propose and study a new notion of directed homotopy equivalence between directed spaces.   相似文献

Abstract

It is shown that the category CS of closure spaces is a topological category. For each epireflective subcategory A of a topological category X a functor F A :XX is defined and used to extend to the general case of topological categories some results given in [4], [5] and [10] for epireflective subcategories of the category Top of topological spaces.  相似文献

Abstract

Every topological category over an arbitrary base category X may be considered as a category of T-models with respect to some theory (i.e., functor) T from X into a category of complete lattices. Using this model-theoretic correspondence as our basic tool, we study initial and final completions of (co)fibration complete categories. For an arbitrary concrete category (A, U) over X, the process of order-theoretically completing each fibre does not usually yield an initial/final completion of (A, U). It is shown in this paper that for concrete categories which are assumed to be fibration and/or cofibration complete, initial and final completions can be constructed by completing the fibres. These completions are further shown to exhibit some interesting external properties.  相似文献

Inspired by locale theory, we propose “pointfree convex geometry”. We introduce the notion of convexity algebra as a pointfree convexity space. There are two notions of a point for convexity algebra: one is a chain-prime meet-complete filter and the other is a maximal meet-complete filter. In this paper we show the following: (1) the former notion of a point induces a dual equivalence between the category of “spatial” convexity algebras and the category of “sober” convexity spaces as well as a dual adjunction between the category of convexity algebras and the category of convexity spaces; (2) the latter notion of point induces a dual equivalence between the category of “m-spatial” convexity algebras and the category of “m-sober” convexity spaces. We finally argue that the former notion of a point is more useful than the latter one from a category theoretic point of view and that the former notion of a point actually represents a polytope (or generic point) and the latter notion of a point properly represents a point. We also remark on the close relationships between pointfree convex geometry and domain theory.  相似文献
