Cocentralizing and vanishing derivations on multilinear polynomials in prime rings

Let R be a prime ring of characteristic different from 2 and extended centroid C and let f(x1,..., x _n ) be a multilinear polynomial over C not central-valued on R, while δ is a nonzero derivation of R. Suppose that d and g are derivations of R such that

$\delta (d(f(r_1 , \ldots ,r_n ))f(r_1 , \ldots ,r_n ) - f(r_1 , \ldots ,r_n )g(f(r_1 , \ldots ,r_n ))) = 0$

for all r1,..., r _n ∈ R. Then d and g are both inner derivations on R and one of the following holds: (1) d = g = 0; (2) d = ?g and f(x ₁,..., x _n )² is central-valued on R.

Let R be a prime ring of char R ≠ 2, let d be a nonzero derivation of R, and let ρ be a nonzero right ideal of R such that [[d(x)x ⁿ , d(y)] _m , [y, x] _s ] ^t = 0 for all x, y ? ρ, where n ≥ 1, m ≥ 0, s ≥ 0, and t ≥ 1 are fixed integers. If [ρ, ρ]ρ ≠ 0 then d(ρ)ρ = 0.     

Strong commutativity preserving generalized derivations on Lie ideals

We apply elementary matrix computations and the theory of differential identities to prove the following: let R be a prime ring with extended centroid C and L a noncommutative Lie ideal of R. Suppose that f?:?L?→?R is a map and g is a generalized derivation of R such that [f(x),?g(y)]?=?[x,?y] for all x,?y?∈?L. Then there exist a nonzero α?∈?C and a map μ?:?L?→?C such that g(x)?=?αx for all x?∈?R and f(x)?=?α^?1 x?+?μ(x) for all x?∈?L, except when R???M ₂(F), the 2?×?2 matrix ring over a field F.     

On derivations of algebras with involution

Summary Let X be a complex Hilbert space, let L(X) be the algebra of all bounded linear operators on X, and let A(X) ⊂ L(X) be a standard operator algebra, which is closed under the adjoint operation. Suppose there exists a linear mapping D: A(X) → L(X) satisfying the relation D(AA*A) = D(A) A*A + AD(A*)A + AA*D(A), for all A ∈ A(X). In this case D is of the form D(A) = AB-BA, for all A∈ A(X) and some B ∈ L(X), which means that D is a derivation. We apply this result to semisimple H*-algebras.

Strong commutativity-preserving generalized derivations on semiprime rings

Let R be a ring with a subset S. A mapping of R into itself is called strong commutativitypreserving （scp） on S, if [f（x）, f（y）] = [x, y] for all x, y ∈ S. The main purpose of this paper is to describe the structure of the generalized derivations which are scp on some ideals and right ideals of a prime ring, respectively. The semiprime case is also considered.     

A result concerning nilpotent values with generalized skew derivations on Lie ideals

ABSTRACT

Let n≥1 be a fixed integer, R a prime ring with its right Martindale quotient ring Q, C the extended centroid, and L a non-central Lie ideal of R. If F is a generalized skew derivation of R such that (F(x)F(y)?yx)ⁿ = 0 for all x,y∈L, then char(R) = 2 and R?M₂(C), the ring of 2×2 matrices over C.     

Derivations with Invertible or Nilpotent Values on a Multilinear Polynomial

Let R be a prime ring with no non-zero nil one-sided ideals, d a nonzero derivation on R, and f(X₁,...,X_t) a multilinear polynomial not central-valued on R. Suppose d(f(x₁,...,x_t)) is either invertible or nilpotent for all x₁,...,x_t in some non-zero ideal of R. Then it is proved that R is either a division ring or the ring of 2 × 2 matrices over a division ring. Center-like subsets in rings with derivations or endomorphisms

Our purpose in this paper is to show that certain subsets, defined by commutativity conditions involving derivations or endomorphisms, coincide with the center in prime rings. Moreover, we provide examples to show that the assumed restrictions cannot be relaxed.

In this paper we discuss the linear combination of derivations in prime rings which was initiated by Niu Fengwen.Our aim is to improve Niu‘s result.For the proof of the main theorem we generalize a result of Bresar and obtain a lemma that is of independent interest.
