Understanding the self-assembly behavior of β-sheet peptides is important, not only in constructing bioactive peptide nanostructures, but also in inhibiting uncontrollable protein aggregation in protein-misfolding diseases. Here, the first systematic investigation of combination self-assembly between β-sheet block copolypeptides and CNTs is presented, demonstrating the presence of several different association modes during the combination self-assembly process. Bioactive β-sheet block copolypeptides can self-assemble by themselves, or can be used to functionalize CNT hybrids depending on the situation. This behavior may be important both for fabricating bioactive peptide/CNT hybrids and for controlling/inhibiting protein-misfolding diseases.  相似文献

Acetaminophen is a well-known drug commonly used to provide pain relief, but it can also lead to acute liver failure at high concentrations. Therefore, there is considerable interest in monitoring its concentrations. Sensitive and selective acetaminophen electrochemical sensors were designed by cycling a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) to high potentials in the presence of β-CD in a phosphate electrolyte, or by simply activating the GCE electrode in the phosphate solution. Using cyclic voltammetry, adsorption-like voltammograms were recorded. The acetaminophen oxidation product, N-acetyl benzoquinone imine, was protected from hydrolysis, and this was attributed to the adsorption of acetaminophen at the modified GCE. The rate constants for the oxidation of acetaminophen were estimated as 4.3 × 10–3 cm2 s–1 and 3.4 × 10–3 cm2 s–1 for the β-CD-modified and -activated electrodes, respectively. Using differential pulse voltammetry, the limit of detection was calculated as 9.7 × 10–8 M with a linear concentration range extending from 0.1 to 80 μM. Furthermore, good selectivity was achieved in the presence of caffeine, ascorbic acid and aspirin, enabling the determination of acetaminophen in a commercial tablet. Similar electrochemical data were obtained for both the β-CD-modified and activated GCE surfaces, suggesting that the enhanced detection of acetaminophen is connected mainly to the activation and oxidation of the GCE. Using SEM, EDX and FTIR, no evidence was obtained to indicate that the β-CD was electropolymerised at the GCE.

The effects of nucleating duality, imposed by a mixed nucleating agent (NA) system containing multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and a rare earth (WBG), on the crystallization behaviors of isotactic polypropylene (iPP) including the peak temperature of crystallization (T cp), polymorphic composition, and crystalline morphology, were probed in detail by calorimetry, X-ray diffraction, and polarized light microscopy. In such mixed nucleating agent system, MWCNTs is active filler to induce α-nucleation for iPP, while WBG serves as β-nucleating agent. When the WBG content was low (0.05%), the crystals of WBG were as a form of individual isotropic dendrite, and the enhancement of T cp was achieved by the incorporation of MWCNTs. As the WBG content was high as 0.1%, a percolated NA network consisted of needlelike crystals of WBG yielded before nucleating the prevalent crystallization of iPP. In this case, the addition of MWCNTs has no obvious effect on T cp. However, by varying the mass proportion of MWCNTs/WBG, the polymorphic composition was adjusted significantly, indicating a nucleation competition between MWCNTs and WBG. Although the competitive growth existed between α-crystals nucleated by MWCNTs and β-crystals nucleated by WBG, the formation of primary β-crystallite was always prior to the α-nucleated crystallization, as confirmed by crystalline morphology. These findings are useful for developing a new pathway to prepare iPP-based composite with good mechanical property via the addition of mixed nucleating system containing active inorganic filler and β-nucleating agent.  相似文献

The growing demands for reagentless hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) and β-nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (β-NADH) sensors from food, pharmaceutical, chemical, and biochemical fields have stimulated extensive research interest on nano-engineered Pd. In this paper, Pd/carbon composite nanofibers were prepared by electrodepositing Pd onto electrospun carbon nanofibers to act as a catalyst toward the electrocatalytic redox reactions of H2O2 and β-NADH. The morphology of nano-engineered Pd was controlled by selectively adjusting the electrodeposition time and potential. Scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy results showed that nanocactus- and nanoflower-like Pd depositions were obtained on the surface of carbon nanofibers. Electrocatalytic analysis demonstrated a high electrocatalytic activity of the composite nanofibers for the redox of H2O2 and oxidation of β-NADH.  相似文献

β-Trifluoroethoxy vinamidinium salts 1 reacted smoothly with various types of the carbanions, generated by treatment of ketones, esters, amide and nitriles with LDA, to give the corresponding trifluoroethoxylated multifunctional dienamine derivatives 3 in moderate to good yields. On the other hand, the reaction of 1 with lithium acetylide and other carbanions derived from methyl compounds bearing sulfonyl, sulfinyl, and phosphonyl groups produced the corresponding α,β-unsaturated aldehydes 5 in good yields.  相似文献

Adsorption isotherms of carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrogen (N2) on Hβand sodium exchanged β-zeolite (Naβ) were volumetrically measured at 273 and 303 K. The results show that all isotherms were of Brunauer type I and well correlated with Langmuir-Freundlich model. After sodium ions exchange, the adsorption amounts of three adsorbates increased, while the increase magnitude of CO2 adsorption capacity was much higher than that of CH4 and N2. The selectivities of CO2 over CH4 and CO2 over N2 enhanced after sodium exchange. Also, the initial heat of adsorption data implied a stronger interaction of CO2 molecules with Na+ ions in Naβ . These results can be attributed to the larger electrostatic interaction of CO2 with extraframework cations in zeolites. However, Naβ showed a decrease in the selectivity of CH4 over N2, which can be ascribed to the moderate affinity of N2 with Naβ. The variation of isosteric heats of adsorption as a function of loading indicates that the adsorption of CO2 in Naβ presents an energetically heterogeneous profile. On the contrary, the adsorption of CH4 was found to be essentially homogeneous, which suggests the dispersion interaction between CH4 and lattice oxygen atoms, and such interaction does not depend on the exchangeable cations of zeolite.  相似文献

A new type of composite adsorbents was synthesized by incorporating monoethanol amine (MEA) into β-zeolite. The parent and MEA-functionalized β-zeolites were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2 adsorption, and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). The adsorp-tion behavior of carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitrogen (N2) on these adsorbents was investigated at 303 K. The results show that the structure of zeolite was well preserved after MEA modification. In comparison with CH4 and N2, CO2 was preferentially adsorbed on the adsorbents investigated. The introduction of MEA significantly improved the selectivity of both CO2/CH4 and CO2/N2, the optimal selectivity of CO2/CH4 can reach 7.70 on 40 wt% of MEA-functionalized β-zeolite (MEA(40)-β) at 1 atm. It is worth noticing that a very high selectivity of CO2/N2 of 25.67 was obtained on MEA(40)-β. Steric effect and chemical adsorbate-adsorbent interaction were responsible for such high adsorption selectivity of CO2. The present MEA-functionalized β-zeolite adsorbents may be a good candidate for applications in flue gas separation, as well as natural gas and landfill gas purifications.  相似文献

The effect of carbon source and its concentration, inoculum size, yeast extract concentration, nitrogen source, pH of the fermentation medium, and fermentation temperature on β-glucosidase production by Kluyveromyces marxianus in shake-flask culture was investigated. These were the independent variables that directly regulated the specific growth and β-glucosidase production rate. The highest product yield, specific product yield, and productivity of β-glucosidase occurred in the medium (pH 5.5) inoculated with 10% (v/v) inoculum of the culture. Cellobiose (20 g/L) significantly improved β-glucosidase production measured as product yield (Y P/S ) and volumetric productivity (Q P ) followed by sucrose, lactose, and xylose. The highest levels of productivity (144 IU/[L·h]) of β-glucosidase occurred on cellobiose in the presence of CSL at 35°C and are significantly higher than the values reported by other researchers on almost all other organisms. The thermodynamics and kinetics of β-glucosidase production and its deactivation are also reported. The enzyme was substantially stable at 60°C and may find application in some industrial processes.  相似文献

We describe a method for detecting DNA methylation. It is based on direct oxidation of DNA bases at a glassy carbon electrode (GCE) modified with film of a multiwalled carbon nanotube-β-cyclodextrin composite. This nano-structured film causes a strong enhancement on the oxidation current of DNA bases due to its large effective surface area and extraordinary electronic properties. Well-defined peaks were obtained as a result of electro-oxidation of guanine (at 0.67 V), adenine (at 0.92 V), thymine (at 1.11 V), cytosine (at 1.26 V), and 5-methylcytosine (at 1.13 V; all data vs. saturated calomel electrode (SCE)). The potential difference between 5-methylcytosine and cytosine (130 mV) is large enough to enable reliable simultaneous determination and analysis. The interference by thymine can be eliminated by following the principle of complementary pairing between purine and pyrimidine bases in DNA. The modified electrode was successfully applied to the evaluation of 5-methylcytosine in a fish sperm DNA, the methylation level of cytosine was found to be 7.47 %, and the analysis process took less than 1 h.  相似文献

We report on a method for electrochemical enantioselective recognition of tryptophan (Trp) enantiomers. It is based on competitive host-guest interaction between a deoxy-(2-aminoethylamino)-β-cyclodextrin (CD) bound to graphene nanosheets and the Cu(II) complexes of the Trp enantiomers via a ligand exchange mechanism. Chiral recognition was investigated via cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The results reveal that the CD bound to graphene displays a stronger interaction with the Cu(II) complex of L-Trp than to that of D-Trp. The method was applied to the determination of the ratio of Trp enantiomers in mixtures.

A sensitive and selective electrochemical sensor based on a polyaniline modified carbon electrode for the determination of l-phenylalanine has been proposed by utilizing β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) incorporated multi-walled carbon nanotube (MWNT) and imprinted sol-gel film. The electrochemical behavior of the sensor towards l-phenylalanine was investigated by cyclic voltammetry (CV), differential pulse voltammetry (DPV), and amperometric i-t curve. The surface morphologies of layer-by-layer assembly electrodes were displayed by scanning electron microscope (SEM). The response mechanism of the imprinted sensor for l-phenylalanine was based on the inclusion interaction of β-CD and molecular recognition capacity of the imprinted film for l-phenylalanine. A linear calibration plot was obtained covering the concentration range from 5.0 × 10−7 to 1.0 × 10−4 mol L−1 with a detection limit of 1.0 × 10−9 mol L−1. With excellent sensitivity, selectivity, stability, reproducibility and recovery, the electrochemical imprinted sensor was used to detect l-phenylalanine in blood plasma samples successfully.  相似文献

Reduction of azide and removal of the trityl group produces β-fluorohistidinol (6a). Elimination of HBr from 1a followed by “FBr” addition to the resulting double bond gives 2-bromo-3,3-difluoro-3-(1-trityl-1H-imidazol-4-yl)-propan-1-ol (1b). Nucleophilic attack of azide followed by reduction and removal of the trityl group, as for the preparation of 6a, gives β,β-difluorohistidinol (6b). The objective of this research was to improve the aqueous solubility, dissolution rate and, consequently, bioavailability of diacerein, along with avoiding its side effect of diarrhea, by complexation with β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) and HP-β-cyclodextrin (HP-β-CD). Phase solubility curve was classified as an AN type for both the CDs, which indicated formation of complex of diacerein with β-CD and HP-β-CD in 1:1 stoichiometry and demonstrating that both CDs are proportionally less effective at higher concentrations. The complexes were prepared by kneading method and were evaluated to study the effect of complexation on aqueous solubility and rate of dissolution in phosphate buffer (pH 6.8). Based on the dissolution profile HP-β-CD was selected for preparing fast disintegrating tablet of diacerein which was compared with marketed formulation (MF-J). The HP-β-CD complex was probed for Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, differential scanning calorimetry, and powder X-ray diffraction studies which evidenced stable complex formation and increase in amorphousness of diacerein in complex. In brief, the characterization studies confirmed the inclusion of diacerein within the non-polar cavity of HP-β-CD. HP-β-CD complex showed improved in vitro drug release profile compared to pure drug and similar to that of marketed formulation respectively.  相似文献
