The distance energy of a graph G is a recently developed energy-type invariant, defined as the sum of absolute values of the eigenvalues of the distance matrix of G. There was a vast research for the pairs and families of non-cospectral graphs having equal distance energy, and most of these constructions were based on the join of graphs. A graph is called circulant if it is Cayley graph on the circulant group, i.e. its adjacency matrix is circulant. A graph is called integral if all eigenvalues of its adjacency matrix are integers. Integral circulant graphs play an important role in modeling quantum spin networks supporting the perfect state transfer. In this paper, we characterize the distance spectra of integral circulant graphs and prove that these graphs have integral eigenvalues of distance matrix D. Furthermore, we calculate the distance spectra and distance energy of unitary Cayley graphs. In conclusion, we present two families of pairs (G1,G2) of integral circulant graphs with equal distance energy - in the first family G1 is subgraph of G2, while in the second family the diameter of both graphs is three.  相似文献

We give an explicit construction of circulant graphs of very high energy. This construction is based on Gauss sums. We also show the Littlewood conjecture can be used to establish new result for a certain class of circulant graphs.  相似文献

This paper provides further results on the perfect state transfer in integral circulant graphs (ICG graphs). The non-existence of PST is proved for several classes of ICG graphs containing an isolated divisor d0, i.e. the divisor which is relatively prime to all other divisors from dD?{d0}. The same result is obtained for classes of integral circulant graphs having the NSF property (i.e. each n/d is square-free, for every dD). A direct corollary of these results is the characterization of ICG graphs with two divisors, which have PST. A similar characterization is obtained for ICG graphs where each two divisors are relatively prime. Finally, it is shown that ICG graphs with the number of vertices n=2p2 do not have PST.  相似文献

Let D be a connected oriented graph. A set SV(D) is convex in D if, for every pair of vertices x,yS, the vertex set of every x-y geodesic (x-y shortest dipath) and y-x geodesic in D is contained in S. The convexity numbercon(D) of a nontrivial oriented graph D is the maximum cardinality of a proper convex set of D. Let G be a graph. We define that SC(G)={con(D):D is an orientation of G} and SSC(G)={con(D):D is a strongly connected orientation of G}. In the paper, we show that, for any n?4, 1?a?n-2, and a≠2, there exists a 2-connected graph G with n vertices such that SC(G)=SSC(G)={a,n-1} and there is no connected graph G of order n?3 with SSC(G)={n-1}. Then, we determine that SC(K3)={1,2}, SC(K4)={1,3}, SSC(K3)=SSC(K4)={1}, SC(K5)={1,3,4}, SC(K6)={1,3,4,5}, SSC(K5)=SSC(K6)={1,3}, SC(Kn)={1,3,5,6,…,n-1}, SSC(Kn)={1,3,5,6,…,n-2} for n?7. Finally, we prove that, for any integers n, m, and k with , 1?k?n-1, and k≠2,4, there exists a strongly connected oriented graph D with n vertices, m edges, and convexity number k.  相似文献

Let G be a connected (di)graph. A vertex w is said to strongly resolve a pair u,v of vertices of G if there exists some shortest u-w path containing v or some shortest v-w path containing u. A set W of vertices is a strong resolving set for G if every pair of vertices of G is strongly resolved by some vertex of W. The smallest cardinality of a strong resolving set for G is called the strong dimension of G. It is shown that the problem of finding the strong dimension of a connected graph can be transformed to the problem of finding the vertex covering number of a graph. Moreover, it is shown that computing this invariant is NP-hard. Related invariants for directed graphs are defined and studied.  相似文献

A pebbling move on a graph consists of taking two pebbles off of one vertex and placing one pebble on an adjacent vertex. In the traditional pebbling problem we try to reach a specified vertex of the graph by a sequence of pebbling moves. In this paper we investigate the case when every vertex of the graph must end up with at least one pebble after a series of pebbling moves. The cover pebbling number of a graph is the minimum number of pebbles such that however the pebbles are initially placed on the vertices of the graph we can eventually put a pebble on every vertex simultaneously. We find the cover pebbling numbers of trees and some other graphs. We also consider the more general problem where (possibly different) given numbers of pebbles are required for the vertices.  相似文献

A random bipartite graphG(n, n, p) is obtained by taking two disjoint subsets of verticesA andB of cardinalityn each, and by connecting each pair of verticesaA andbB by an edge randomly and independently with probabilityp=p(n). We show that the choice number ofG(n, n, p) is, almost surely, (1+o(1))log2(np) for all values of the edge probabilityp=p(n), where theo(1) term tends to 0 asnp tends to infinity.Research supported in part by a USA-Israeli BSF grant, a grant from the Israel Science Foundation, a Sloan Foundation grant No. 96-6-2 and a State of New Jersey grant.Research supported by an IAS/DIMACS Postdoctoral Fellowship.  相似文献

Fiber-complemented graphs form a vast non-bipartite generalization of median graphs. Using a certain natural coloring of edges, induced by parallelism relation between prefibers of a fiber-complemented graph, we introduce the crossing graph of a fiber-complemented graph G as the graph whose vertices are colors, and two colors are adjacent if they cross on some induced 4-cycle in G. We show that a fiber-complemented graph is 2-connected if and only if its crossing graph is connected. We characterize those fiber-complemented graphs whose crossing graph is complete, and also those whose crossing graph is chordal.  相似文献

An r-edge-coloring of a graph G is a surjective assignment of r colors to the edges of G. A heterochromatic tree is an edge-colored tree in which any two edges have different colors. The heterochromatic tree partition number of an r-edge-colored graph G, denoted by tr(G), is the minimum positive integer p such that whenever the edges of the graph G are colored with r colors, the vertices of G can be covered by at most p vertex-disjoint heterochromatic trees. In this paper we give an explicit formula for the heterochromatic tree partition number of an r-edge-colored complete bipartite graph Km,n.  相似文献

Reliability and efficiency are important criteria in the design of interconnection networks. Connectivity is a widely used measurement for network fault-tolerance capacities, while diameter determines routing efficiency along individual paths. In practice, we are interested in high-connectivity, small-diameter networks. Recently, Hsu introduced the notion ofw-wide diameter, which unifies diameter and connectivity. This paper investigates thew-wide diameterd w (G) and two related parameters:w-fault diameterD w (G) andw-Rabin numberr w (G). In particular, we determined w (G) andD w (G) for 2wK(G) andG is a circulant digraphG(d n ; 1,d,...,d n–1) or a cycle prefix digraph.Supported in part by the National Science Council under grant NSC86-2115-M009-002.  相似文献

The problem is considered of decomposing a given graph into the minimum number of complete subgraphs. Asymptotic results are obtained for the case where the graph is the complement of a graph with relatively few unisolated vertices. A fimily of cubic Ramanujan graph is explicitly constructed. They are realized as Cayley graphs of a certain free group acting on the 3-regular tree; this group is obtained from a definite quaternion algebra that splits at the prime 2 and has a maximal order of class number 1.  相似文献

Some problems and results on the distribution of subgraphs in colour-critical graphs are discussed. In section 3 arbitrarily largek-critical graphs withn vertices are constructed such that, in order to reduce the chromatic number tok−2, at leastc k n 2 edges must be removed. In section 4 it is proved that a 4-critical graph withn vertices contains at mostn triangles. Further it is proved that ak-critical graph which is not a complete graph contains a (k−1)-critical graph which is not a complete graph.  相似文献

Expanding graphs contain all small trees   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The assertion of the title is formulated and proved. The result is then used to construct graphs with a linear number of edges that, even after the deletion of almost all of their edges or almost all of their vertices, continue to contain all small trees.  相似文献

The bondage number b(G) of a nonempty graph G is the cardinality of a smallest edge set whose removal from G results in a graph with domination number greater than the domination number γ(G) of G. Kang and Yuan proved b(G)?8 for every connected planar graph G. Fischermann, Rautenbach and Volkmann obtained some further results for connected planar graphs. In this paper, we generalize their results to connected graphs with small crossing numbers.  相似文献

Cycles in weighted graphs   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
A weighted graph is one in which each edgee is assigned a nonnegative numberw(e), called the weight ofe. The weightw(G) of a weighted graphG is the sum of the weights of its edges. In this paper, we prove, as conjectured in [2], that every 2-edge-connected weighted graph onn vertices contains a cycle of weight at least 2w(G)/(n–1). Furthermore, we completely characterize the 2-edge-connected weighted graphs onn vertices that contain no cycle of weight more than 2w(G)/(n–1). This generalizes, to weighted graphs, a classical result of Erds and Gallai [4].  相似文献
