In this paper, a new water-soluble initiator system, 2-bromopropane/CuSO4/sodium ascorbate, was used as the initiator for emulsion polymerization. Radical emulsion polymerization of styrene was successfully carried out at 80 °C by using sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate as the emulsifier. The 2-bromopropane/CuSO4/sodium ascorbate-initiated emulsion polymerization shows the controlled free-radical polymerization features with linear growth of molecular weight. Polystyrene with a relatively high molecular weight and a narrow molecular weight distribution can be synthesized by this method. On the other hand, stable polystyrene latex can be obtained, and the size of the polystyrene latex increased with the increase in monomer conversion.  相似文献

A fluorine-containing polyacrylate emulsion was synthesized by a UV-initiated emulsion polymerization from methyl methacrylate (MMA) and hexafluorobutly methacrylate (HFMA) in the presence of 2-hydroxy-4-(2-hydroxyethoxy)-2-methyl-propiophenone (Irgacure 2959) as a hydrophilic photoinitiator at room temperature. The latex and films were characterized by Fourier transformed infrared (FT-IR) spectrometry, nuclear magnetic resonance (1H-NMR, 19F-NMR) spectrometry, transmission electron microscopy (TEM), recycling gel permeation chromatography (GPC), dynamic light scattering (DLS), and contact angle (CA) analysis, respectively. The effects of photoinitiator and emulsifier concentration on the polymerization were discussed. Compared to the corresponding thermal polymerization, UV-initiated polymerization of the MMA/HFMA emulsion could be accomplished at a much higher speed. The polymerization conversion in UV-initiated polymerization reached 95% within 10 min at an emulsifier concentration of 0.6 wt%, photoinitiator concentration of 0.4 wt%, and monomer concentration of 10 wt%.  相似文献

The batch emulsion polymerization of butyl acrylate in the presence of sodium lauryl sulphate as emulsifier and potassium persulphate as initiator was investigated. The effects of emulsifier concentration, initiator concentration, and monomer/water ratio on the kinetic features were studied. The kinetic data showed that at the conditions studied, the number of particles is proportional to [KPS]0.39 and [SLS]0.54. The number of particles did not practically vary with monomer concentration at the high range of monomer and emulsifier concentrations. At low emulsifier concentration, particle coagulation occurred in the course of reaction, which increased with monomer concentration. Particle nucleation was found to occur during Interval III of the batch process if undissociated micelles exist. It was also confirmed that the zero-one kinetics system can better fit the experimental results, compared to the pseudobulk kinetics. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. 研究了以非离子型可聚合聚氨酯(PUAG)和苯乙烯(St)为混合单体的超浓乳液聚合, 并且考察了n(NCO)/n(OH)摩尔比、复合乳化剂体系质量浓度[E]、不同乳化剂的种类、引发剂质量浓度[I]、单体体积分数(或分散相体积分数, 也称内相比Φ)、聚合温度等因素对聚合稳定性、动力学的影响. 同时结合光相关光谱(PCS)测定了聚合物乳胶粒子大小和粒径分布, 用透射电子显微镜(TEM)观察了粒子形态, 结果表明: 当n(NCO)/n(OH)=2∶1, T=328 K, Φ=80.39%, [I]=0.8% g/g (PUAG-St), [E]=0.22 g/mL H2O, m(MS-1)/m(CA)=2∶1, PVA=0.01 g/mL H2O时, 超浓乳液不仅有较好的聚合稳定性和较快的聚合速率, 而且粒径小分布均匀. 同时, 在此条件下的表观动力学表达式和表观活化能分别确定为Rpk[I]0.50[E]0.73[M]0.54Ea=29.7 kJ/mol. 热失重分析(TGA)进一步表明: 调节PUAG的含量可以达到对聚苯乙烯的改性, 提高聚苯乙烯的热稳定性.  相似文献

采用乳液聚合法将甲基丙烯酸甲酯(MMA)接枝到氯丁胶乳上,红外光谱和核磁共振氢谱证实了接枝产物的生成。 研究了反应温度、乳化剂浓度、引发剂浓度和单体浓度对表观聚合速率的影响。 结果表明,当反应温度为50 ℃,引发剂叔丁基过氧化氢 四乙烯五胺(t-BHP/TEPA)用量为氯丁胶乳干重的0.5%,单体/聚合物质量比m(M)∶m(P)=3∶5,乳化剂十二烷基连苯醚二磺酸钠(DSB)用量为单体总质量1%时,单体转化率和接枝效率分别为99.1%和54.9%。 聚合反应动力学关系式为:Rp=Kc(E)0.15c(I)0.30c(MMA)1.41,式中,K为常数,在40~55 ℃范围内,聚合反应的表观活化能Ea=60.2 kJ/mol。 接枝聚合基本符合自由基反应机理。  相似文献

采用SPAN-OP复合乳化剂和K_2S_2O_8-Na_2SO_3氧化还原引发剂,进行(2-甲基丙烯酰氧乙基)三甲基氯化铵-丙烯酰胺的反相微乳液共聚合。测得单体的竞聚率r_(DM·MC)=1.11±0.16,r_(AM)=0.53±0.08。在单体总浓度为20—40%(wt),引发剂浓度为0.01—0.05%,乳化剂浓度为10—18%,聚合温度为299K的条件下,得到共聚反应动力学方程:R_p=k[M]~(1.07)[I]~(0.52)[E]~(0.90),文中对上述结果做了解释。  相似文献

 The kinetics of suspended emulsion polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA), in which water acted as the dispersed phase and the mixture of MMA and cyclohexane as the continuous phase, was investigated. It showed that the initial polymerization rate (Rp0) and steady-state polymerization rate (Rp) were proportional to the mass ratio between water and oil phase, and increased as the polymerization temperature, the potassium persulphate concentration ([I]) and the Tween20 emulsifier concentration ([S]) increased. The relationships between the polymerization rate and [I] and [S] were obtained as follows: Rp0∝[I]0.71[S]0.23.The above exponents were close to those obtained from normal MMA emulsion polymerization. It also showed that the average molecular weight of the resulting poly(methylmethacrylate) decreased as the polymerization temperature,[I]and [S] increased. Thus, MMA suspended emulsion polymerization could be considered as a combination of many miniature emulsion polymerizations proceeding in water drops and obeyed the classical kinetics of MMA emulsion polymerization.  相似文献

通过种子乳液法合成出具有高有机硅含量核 壳结构的聚硅氧烷 丙烯酸酯复合粒子 .研究了聚合方法、乳化剂浓度、引发剂浓度、单体滴加速度等工艺条件对复合乳液粒径尺寸、分布与形态的影响 ,并对复合乳液的成核机理进行了探讨 .研究表明 ,乳化剂浓度对乳液粒子的粒径分布和形态、结构有显著影响 ,引发剂浓度增加将使粒子粒径减小 ;相对一次投料法 ,种子乳液法生成的粒子分布窄 ,具有明显核壳结构 ,通过壳层单体滴加速度可以控制粒子的粒径尺寸和分布 ;而壳层丙烯酸酯聚合物主要是在聚硅氧烷种子表面的“过渡层”聚合、富集而成 .  相似文献

By using acetone‐water as the medium and potassium persulfate (KFS) as the initiator, emulsifier‐free emulsion co‐polymerization of styrene with co‐monomers: MMA, BMA, EA and BDA under microwave irradiation has been investigated. The influence of the each co‐monomer content and hydrophilicity on the hydrodynamic radius Rh of the synthesized copolymer nanoparticles is discussed in detail. The results show mat the increase in ratio of hydrophilic copolymer causes an increase in consumption of the initiator in the initiation reaction, so an increase in the concentration of the surface ? OSO3 groups which cause the increase in the stability of the latex and gives rise to the formation of smaller micelles. The nano‐particle radius will increase again when the co‐monomer content increases to a certain degree. The curve of the particle hydrodynamic radius vs the co‐monomer content has a minimum point.  相似文献

Specific imine bases (IB) in conjunction with various isocyanates (IC) mediate the radical polymerization of radically polymerizable monomers such as methyl methacrylate (MMA). Advantageously, the 2‐(methylmercapto)‐2‐thiazoline MMT/IC combination as initiator works even at room temperature for polymerization of MMA. The coefficients a, b, and c of the basic rate law of monomer consumption d[M]/dt = kp·[IC]a·[IB]b·[M]c were determined. The order a has been determined to 0.5 showing the root law of radical polymerization with respect to the IC component as initiator. Moreover, b and c amount 1. The initiator combination MMT/ IC was applied to determine the influence of the molecular structure of the IC on the rate of monomer conversion. For aromatic isocyantes, the gross rate constant of monomer consumption correlates with the Hammet constant of aromatic substituents. The activation energies of the gross polymerization rate constant of several initiator mixtures were determined whereby the value of EA,Br was found to be between typical values of radical polymerization initiated by photochemical reactions (~20 kJ/mol) and commonly used thermal decomposing initiators (~80 kJ/mol). Presumptions on the initiating and terminating step of the IB/IC mediated polymerization were done by means of electrospray ionization mass spectrometry, NMR spectroscopy, and the elemental composition of the head and end group of the resulting polymers. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The effects of operating variables on the kinetic behavior of the emulsion copolymerization of vinylidene chloride (VDC) and methyl methacrylate (MMA) were examined at 50 °C with sodium lauryl sulfate as an emulsifier and potassium persulfate as an initiator, respectively. The number of polymer particles produced increased in proportion to the 1.0 power of the initial emulsifier concentration and to the 0.3 power of the initial initiator concentration and decreased with an increasing content of MMA in the initial monomer charge. The rate of copolymerization was proportional to the 0.4 power of the initial emulsifier concentration and to the 0.5 power of the initial initiator concentration and increased with an increasing content of MMA in the initial monomer charge. The molecular weight of copolymer produced decreased drastically with an increasing content of VDC in the initial monomer charge. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The ultrasonically initiated emulsion polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) was investigated. Experimental results show that sodium dodecyl sulfonate (SDS) surfactant plays a very important role in obtaining a high polymer yield, because in the absence of SDS, monomer conversion is near zero. Thus, the surfactant serves as an initiator and as interfacial modifier in this system (MMA/H2O), and the monomer conversion increases significantly with increasing SDS concentration. An increase in the reactor temperature also leads to an increase in the monomer conversion. An appropriate increase in the N2 purging rate also leads to higher conversion. The conversion of MMA decreases with increasing monomer concentration because of the higher viscosity of the system. With the experimental results, optimized reaction conditions were obtained. Accordingly, a high monomer conversion of about 67% and a high molecular weight of several millions can be obtained in a period of about 30 min. Furthermore, transmission electron micrographs show that the latex particles prepared are nanosized, indicating a promising technique for preparing nanoscale latex particles with a small amount of surfactant. In conclusion, a promising technique for ultrasonically initiated emulsion polymerization has been successfully performed. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. Copolymerization of fullerene (C60) with methyl methacrylate (MMA) was carried out using triphenylbismuthonium ylide (abbreviated as Ylide) as a novel initiator in dioxan at 60°C for 4 h in a dilatometer under a nitrogen atmosphere. The reaction follows ideal kinetics: Rp∝ [Ylide]0.5[C60]?1.0[MMA]1.0. The rate of polymerization increases with an increase in concentration of initiator and MMA. However, it decreases with increasing concentration of fullerene due to the radical scavenging effect of fullerene. The overall activation energy of copolymerization was estimated to be 57 KJ mol?1. The fullerene-MMA copolymers (C60-MMA) were characterized by FTIR, UV–Vis, NMR and GPC analyses.  相似文献

 Urethane acrylate anionomer (APUA) as a kind of new type polymerizable emulsifier was synthesized using 2,4-toluene diisocyanate (TDI), polypropylene glycol (PPG), 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) and dimethylolpropionic acid (DMPA). The critical micelle concentration (CMC) of APUA was measured by the methods of conductance and surface tension. The comparative studies between polymerizable emulsifier AUPA and conventional emulsifier sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) were carried out in the emulsion polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA). Polymerization kinetics,stability, size and morphology of the latex particles were investigated. It was found that in APUA both water soluble initiator potassium persulfate (KPS) and oil soluble initiator 2,2'-azobisisobutyronitrile (AIBN) can start the reaction of MMA, and the polymerization rate and yield were very high. On using AIBN as an initiator, the conversion-time behavior of MMA with APUA as emulsifier was different to that of SDS as emulsifier, signifying a different nucleation mechanism of the polymer latex particle. The average size of the two kinds of particles is about 50 nm. The particle size decreases with increasing emulsifier concentration. On using KPS as the initiator, APUA as emulsifier, cross-linking hydrogel of PMMA would be formed, but SDS was used as emulsifier and the hydrogel of PMMA was not present.  相似文献

将聚氨酯预聚体可聚合乳化剂 (APUA)和甲基丙烯酸甲酯 (MMA)的复合微乳液体系 ,分别用水溶性过硫酸钾 (K2 S2 O8)和油溶性偶氮二异丁腈 (AIBN)作引发剂 ,进行微乳液聚合研究 ,制备了P(MMA UA)复合纳米乳胶粒子 .研究了APUA用量、聚合温度对聚合动力学的影响 ;用透射电子显微镜 (TEM)观察了不同乳化剂浓度及引发剂体系对胶粒形态、大小及分布的影响 .结果表明 ,用可聚合乳化剂APUA可制得稳定性很好的P(MMA UA)纳米级核 壳型乳胶粒子 ,乳胶粒径在 5 0nm左右 .随着乳化剂用量增加 ,粒子变小 ;不同类型的引发剂对胶乳的性质有较大影响 ,以APUA为乳化剂 ,K2 S2 O8为引发剂 ,在聚合反应过程中或在聚合反应后的放置中 ,会出现P(MMA UA)的纳米水凝胶 (Nanogel)现象 .  相似文献

In order to obtain functional polymer latex particles with clean surface and with surface carboxyl groups, P(MMA-EA) seed particles with the diameter of 335 nm were first synthesized via soap-free batch emulsion polymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) and ethyl acrylate (EA), and then the seeded emulsion copolymerization of MMA, EA and MAA (methacrylic acid) onto the seed particles were performed in the absence of emulsifier. Influences of ingredients and conditions on polymerization, latex particle size (Dp) and its distribution were investigated. Results showed that most of the monomers polymerized onto the seed latex particles in the second step of polymerization by using drop-wise addition method, and Dp increased from 483 nm to 829 nm with the mass ratio of core/shell monomers [C]/[S] decreased from 1:2 to 1:15. It was found that Dp decreased with the increase of MAA and initiator amounts, and the size of the latex particles became uniform with the decrease of MAA amount and with the increase of [C]/[S] value.  相似文献
