Neutral tetradentate N2O2 type complexes of Cu(II), Ni(II), Mn(II), Zn(II) and VO(II) have been synthesised using a Schiff base formed by the condensation of o-phenylenediamine with acetoacetanilide in alcohol medium. All the complexes were characterised on the basis of their microanalytical data, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility, IR, UV-Vis1H NMR and ESR spectra. IR and UV-Vis spectral data suggest that all the complexes are square-planar except the Mn(II) and VO(II) chelates, which are of octahedral and square pyramidal geometry respectively. The monomeric and neutral nature of the complexes was confirmed by their magnetic susceptibility data and low conductance values. The ESR spectra of copper and vanadyl complexes in DMSO solution at 300 K and 77 K were recorded and their salient features are reported.  相似文献

The coordination behavior of Cu(II) and VO2+ towards some oximes has been investigated. The isolated complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic moment, spectra (electronic, IR, ESR and mass) and thermal measurements. The IR spectra showed most ligands are deprotonated during complex formation acting as mononegative bi- or tridentate, binegative tetradentate and neutral tridentate. The magnetic moments and electronic spectra showed octahedral, square pyramidal and square-planar structures for the Cu(II) and VO2+ complexes. The ESR spectra of the complexes are quite similar and exhibit axial symmetric g-tensor parameters with g > g > 2.0023 and confirmed the structures. The TG curves showed decomposition steps and indicate stability of the complexes. The ligands can remove Cu(II) ions from water by flotation technology using oleic acid surfactant with high efficiency.  相似文献

Abstract

Bidentate ligands have been synthesized by the reaction of 2,4-dichlorobenzaldehyde with 4-amino-5-mercapto-1,2,4-triazole and 4-amino-5-mercapto-3-propyl-1,2,4-triazole. The ligands react with acetates of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II) to yield 1:2 [metal:ligand] complexes. The newly synthesized compounds were characterized by elemental analyses, spectral (UV-Vis, IR, 1H NMR, fluorescence, ESR) studies, thermal techniques, and magnetic measurements. Thermal studies of the complexes showed a multistep decomposition pattern. A square planar geometry for Cu(II) and octahedral geometry for Co(II), Ni(II), and Zn(II) complexes have been proposed. The synthesized complexes exhibit enhanced antimicrobial activity against Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Aspergillus niger, and A. flavus compared to parent ligands. However, tested compounds did not exhibit any activity against Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

4-Ethylthiosemicarbazide and its NH(1) derivatives have been prepared and confirmed by elemental analysis and 1H?NMR spectra to produce diverse complexes with Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) ions. The obtained complexes have been investigated based on elemental and thermal analyses, spectral (UV/VIS, ESR, mass) studies and magnetic measurements. The IR data reveal the presence of variable modes of chelation for the investigated ligands. The electronic spectra of the complexes as well as their magnetic moments provide information about geometries. The ESR spectra give evidence for the proposed structure and the bonding for some Cu(II) complexes. Thermal decomposition of some complexes ended with metal or metal oxide as a final product.  相似文献

Complexes of the type MLCl2, where M?=?Co(II), Cu(II), Ni(II), Zn(II), Cd(II) and Hg(II) and L is a thiosemicarbazide ligand derived from reaction between naphthofuran-2-carboxyhydrazide and p-chlorophenylisothiocynate (NCClPT)/p-bromophenylisothiocynate (NCBrPT) characterized by elemental analysis, conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurements, UV-Vis, IR, 1H?NMR, and ESR. The thiosemicarbazide ligands are bidentate by coordinating through the oxygen of the carbonyl group and the nitrogen of the hydrazide residue. Based on the results, we propose structures for all the metal complexes. Both the ligands and their complexes have been screened for their fungicidal and bactericidal activities.  相似文献

Cu(II) complexes of three bis(pyrrol-2-yl-methyleneamine) ligands were synthesized and characterized by elemental analyses, mass spectra, and IR spectra. X-ray diffraction analysis shows that [CuL3]2 is a dinuclear complex with an extremely distorted square-planar geometry. Furthermore, the antioxidant activities of the compounds have been investigated. The electrochemical properties of the Cu(II) complexes have also been studied by cyclic voltammetry. The Cu(II) complexes show similar superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity compared with that of the native Cu, Zn-SOD.  相似文献

Three novel ligands H4Ln (n = 1–3) and their copper(II) and zinc(II) complexes were prepared and characterized on the basis of elemental analyses, molar conductivity, 1H NMR, UV/Vis, and IR spectroscopy as well as mass spectrometry. DNA binding properties of the ligands and their complexes were investigated by absorption spectroscopy, ethidium bromide displacement experiments, and viscosity measurements. The experimental results indicate that the new ligands and their complexes can bind to DNA and the binding affinities of the complexes are higher than those of the ligands. In addition, the antioxidant activity of the ligands and complexes was determined by superoxide and hydroxyl radical scavenging methods in vitro, indicating that the complexes exhibit more effective antioxidant activity than the ligands alone.  相似文献

Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes of 5‐mercapto‐1,2,4‐triazol‐3‐imine‐2′‐hydroxynaphthaline have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, IR, 1H NMR, EI‐mass, UV‐Vis, and ESR (electron spin resonance) spectra, molar conductance, magnetic moment measurements, DC conductivity and thermogravimetric analysis. IR spectra confirm that the ligand molecule existed in both thione and thiole forms. The molar conductance values indicate the complexes are nonelectrolyte. The magnetic moment values of the complexes display paramagnetic behavior. All studies confirm the formation of an octahedral geometry for complex 1 and the other complexes have tetrahedral geometrical structures. The structures of the complexes have also been theoretically studied by using the molecular mechanic calculations by the hyperchem. 8.03 molecular modeling program which confirm the proposed structures. The Schiff‐base ligand and its metal complexes have also been screened for their antimicrobial activities.  相似文献

A series of N-substituted-4-thiocarbamoyl-5-pyrazolone derivatives (HL1-HL4) is presented as chelating agents for complexation with Fe(III), Ni(II) and Cu(II) metal ions. The synthesized pyrazolone ligands and their newly metal complexes are characterized by different spectral and analytical methods such as UV–Vis, IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, ESR, MS, magnetic measurement, and TGA. The spectral data reveal that ligands coordinated to metal ions in a bidentate pattern via O & N atoms of the OH group at C(5) and thiocarbamoyl (–CSNHR) at C(4) of the pyrazolone ring. Also, the analytical data suggest the stoichiometries 2:3 (M:L) for both Cu(II) & Ni(II) complexes and 1:3 for Fe(III) complexes. Besides, the normal magnetic moments values for Fe(III) complexes confirm high spin octahedral structure while the diamagnetic nature of all Ni(II) complexes is consistent with square planar geometry. However, the subnormal magnetic values for Cu(II) complexes suggest the proposal of their binuclear structures. The ESR spectra of the Cu(II) complexes support the distorted square planar geometry with a considerably strong intradimeric spin-exchange interaction. Moreover, the anticancer, antibacterial and antifungal activities are screened. Among the synthesized compounds, HL4 ligand exhibits a significant broad spectrum of action against Gram-positive (S. aureus), Gram-negative bacteria (P. vulgaris), and antifungal potency against A. fumigatus & C. albicans in comparison with gentamicin and ketoconazole drug. Such potency of HL4 could be related to the insertion of the p-chloro in the phenyl group attached to the pharmacophoric thiocarbamoyl group at C(4). Furthermore, IC50 values of two Cu(II) complexes derived from HL2 and HL3 display nearly twofold or threefold more cytotoxicity impact against three cell lines (MCF-7, HCT116 and HepG-2) compared with cis-platin as positive control.  相似文献

The mononuclear Schiff base complexes of the type, [ML(CH3OH)2] [M = Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II) and Zn(II)] have been synthesized by template condensation of l-leucine and glyoxal. The complexes have been characterized on the basis of the results of the elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility measurements and spectroscopic studies viz, FT-IR, Mass, 1H NMR and 13C NMR spectra. The UV–vis and magnetic moment data revealed an octahedral geometry around Co(II), Ni(II) ion with distortion around Cu(II) ion complex confirmed by EPR data. The conductivity data show a non-electrolytic nature of the complexes. Absorption and fluorescence spectroscopic studies support that all the complexes exhibit a significant binding to calf thymus DNA.  相似文献

Schiff-base copper(II) complexes were prepared using macrocyclic ligands, synthesized by condensation of diethylmalonate with Schiff bases derived from o-phenylenediamine and Knoevenagel condensed β-ketoanilides (obtained by the condensation of acetoacetanilide and substituted benzaldehydes). The ligands and their copper complexes were characterized by microanalytical, mass, UV–Vis, IR, 1H-NMR, ESR and CV studies, as well as conductivity data. Microanalytical, mass and magnetic moment analyses are consistent with formation of monomeric [CuL]Cl2. Spectral studies indicate square-planar geometry around copper. The smaller grain sizes found from XRD data suggest that these complexes are polycrystalline with nanosized grains. The SEM images of [CuL1]Cl2 have leaf-like morphology. The in vitro biological screening of the investigated compounds against the bacteria Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pneumoniae, Salmonella typhi, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Staphylococcus aureus and fungi Aspergillus niger, Rhizopus stolonifer, Aspergillus flavus, Rhizoctonia bataicola and Candida albicans were tested by the well diffusion method to assess growth inhibition. A comparative study of MIC values of the Schiff-base ligands and their complexes indicate that the complexes exhibit higher antimicrobial activity than the free ligands.  相似文献

Mn(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Cd(II), and Hg(II) metal complexes with Schiff bases derived from 3-formyl-4-hydroxycoumarin and semicarbazone are synthesized and characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, molar conductance, magnetic moment, IR, electronic, 1H NMR spectrum, and ESR spectrum, TGA, and X-ray diffraction powder methods. Molar conductance values indicate that the complexes are nonelectrolytic in nature. Magnetic moment and spectral studies suggest either tetrahedral or square-planar geometry around the central metal ions. The analytical data indicate that metal-to-ligand stoichiometry in all complexes is 1: 1. The article was submitted by the authors in English.  相似文献

Cu(II) complexes with Schiff bases DMIIMP, DMIIMBD, DMIIMBP, DMIIMCP, DMIIMMP, and DMIIMNP (see Introduction for definitions) are derived from condensation of 3,4-dimethyl 5-amino-isoxazole with salicylaldehyde and substituted salicylaldehydes. The newly synthesized ligands were characterized by IR, UV-Vis, 1H NMR, 13C NMR, mass spectra, and elemental analysis. The Cu(II) complexes were characterized by IR, UV-Vis, ESR, elemental analysis, magnetic moments, thermogram, DTA, and single crystal analysis. The complexes have general formula [M(L)2]. The Schiff bases are bidentate coordinating through the azomethine nitrogen and phenolic oxygen of salicylaldehydes. Based on the analytical and spectral data, four-coordinate geometry is assigned for all the complexes. ESR and single crystal analysis suggests square planar geometry for all complexes. [Cu(DMIIMP)2] crystallizes in the orthorhombic system. Antimicrobial studies of Schiff bases and their metal complexes show significant activity with the metal complexes showing more activity than corresponding Schiff bases. Cytotoxicity of the copper complexes on human cervical carcinoma cells (HeLa) was measured using the Methyl Thiazole Tetrazolium assay.  相似文献

Ni(II) and Cu(II) metal complexes of simple unsymmetrical Schiff-base ligands derived from salicylaldehyde/5-methylsalicylaldehyde and ethylenediamine or diaminomaleonitrile (DMN) were synthesized. The ligands and their complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, 1H NMR, FT IR, and mass spectroscopy. The electronic spectra of the complexes show d–d transitions in the region at 450–600 nm. Electrochemical studies of the complexes reveal that all mononuclear complexes show a one-electron quasi-reversible reduction wave in the cathodic region. ESR spectra of the mononuclear copper(II) complexes show four lines, characteristic of square-planar geometry, with nuclear hyperfine spin 3/2. The copper(II) complexes show a normal room temperature magnetic moment value μ eff = 1.70–1.74 BM which is close to the spin only value of 1.73 BM. Kinetic studies on the oxidation of pyrocatechol to o-quinone using the copper(II) complexes as catalysts were also carried out. The in vitro antimicrobial activity of the investigated compounds was tested against human pathogenic bacterias such as Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Klebsiella pneumonia, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli. The antifungal activity was tested against Candida albicans. Generally, the metal complexes have higher antimicrobial activity than the free ligands.  相似文献

Mixed ligand complexes of the type MLL′Cl2 (where M?=?Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), and Hg(II), L?=?ligand derived from the reaction between benzofuran-2-carbohydrazide and 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzaldehyde (TMeOBFC), and L′?=?ortho-phenylenediamine (opd)/2,6-diaminopyridine (2,6-dap)) have been synthesized. The complexes have been characterized by analytical data, IR, UV-Vis, 1H NMR, DART-MS and ESR spectral data, and magnetic studies. Molar conductance values indicate that the complexes are non-electrolytic in DMF. Antibacterial and antifungal activities of the ligands and complexes have been screened against bacteria Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus and against fungi Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus flavus.  相似文献

Several mixed ligand complexes [M(II)(PN)(B)] [M(II) = Ni(II), Cu(II), and Zn(II)] derived from pyridoxine (PN) and imidazoles (B), namely imidazole (him), benzimidazole (bim), histamine (hist), and L-histidine (his), were synthesized. The complexes are characterized by elemental analysis, IR, UV-Vis 1H NMR, and ESR spectroscopy. In [M(II)(PN)B], the monovalent anion of PN is bidentate to M(II) (–O, –OH), him, bim monodentate (–N), hist bidentate (–N, –N), and his tridentate (–O, –N, –N). Magnetic moment studies showed that the Ni(II) complexes and Cu(II)–PN–his have octahedral configuration while the other Cu(II) complexes have distorted tetrahedral geometry. The g /A values calculated from the X-band ESR spectra of Cu(II) complexes in DMSO at 300 and 77 K supports the geometry. The thermal behavior (TG/DTA) of the synthesized complexes indicates the presence of lattice as well as coordinated water in the complexes. The in vitro biological activity of the mixed ligand complexes was tested against common bacteria, yeast, and fungi. The results in comparison with the control indicate that most of the complexes exhibit higher biological activities. The oxidative DNA cleavage studies of the mixed ligand complexes were performed using gel electrophoresis.  相似文献

The reaction of copper(II) salts with (E)-N-(2-hydroxy-1,2-di(pyridin-2-yl)ethylidene)aroyl hydrazide (H2L1, H2L2, H3L3) or (E)-N-(2-hydroxy-1,2-di(pyridin-2-yl)ethylidene) isonicotinohydrazide (H2L4) afforded the complexes [(L)Cu(H2O)3], [(H2L)Cu(OAc)(H2O)], [(HL)Cu(OAc)] n , [(H2L)Cu(H2O)](ClO4)2 and [(H2L)Cu(OAc)(H2O)], where n = 1 or 2 and L is the dinegative ion of the ligands. The ligands and their complexes are characterized by elemental analyses, spectral (IR, NMR, electronic, and ESR) and magnetic studies. The FT-IR indicates that the ligands are neutral or anionic polydentate. The number of the coordinating centers depends on the nature of the metal used and the reaction conditions. The room temperature magnetic moment values, electronic spectra and ESR data indicate square planar, trigonal bipyramidal, square pyramidal, and distorted octahedral ligand fields around copper(II). Thermal decomposition of the complexes was monitored by TG and DTG under N2 and the thermal decomposition mechanisms are given. The compounds were screened for their antimicrobial activities on some Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacterial species. The free ligands are inactive against all studied bacteria. The complexes have variable activity with the most active [(H2L)Cu(H2O)](ClO4)2, where H2L is H2L1 or H2L2. The minimum inhibition concentrations for these two complexes were determined. These biological activity results are related to the structures of the compounds.  相似文献

Complexes of Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) with diacetyl benzaldehyde oxalic acid dihydrazone (dbodh), CH3COC(CH3)=NNHCOCONHN=CHC6H5 and diacetyl benzaldehyde malonic acid dihydrazone (dbmdh), CH3COC(CH3)=NNHCOCH2CONHN=CHC6H5 of general composition [M(dbodh)Cl]Cl and [M(dbmdh)Cl]Cl were synthesized and characterized by microanalyses, molar conductance, magnetic susceptibility, UV–Vis, ESR and IR spectra and X-ray diffraction studies. The complexes are 1 : 1 electrolytes in DMF and are insoluble in water and common organic solvents. The dbodh and dbmdh are neutral tridentate ligands in most complexes and coordinate via one >C=O and two >C=N–groups. In Cu(II) complexes the ligands are pentadentate coordinating through three >C=O and two >C=N–groups. The magnetic moment values and UV–Vis spectra suggest square-planar geometry for Co(II) and Ni(II) complexes and distorted octahedron for both Cu(II) complexes. The ESR spectra of Cu(II) complexes show well-defined copper hyperfine lines in DMSO solution at 120 K and exhibit d x 2 ?y 2 as the ground state. The X-ray diffraction parameters for [Ni(dbodh)Cl]Cl and [Co(dbmdh)Cl]Cl correspond to a tetragonal crystal lattice. The complexes show significant antifungal activity against Alternaria sp., Curvularia sp. and Colletotrichum sp. and fair antibacterial activity against Bacillus subtilis and Pseudomonas fluorescence.  相似文献

Complexes of copper(II) with 5(2′-hydroxyphenyl)-3-(4-x-phenyl)pyrazolines, (C15H12N2OX)2Cu [X =–H,–Cl,–CH3,–OCH3] have been synthesized with their addition complexes with 2,2′-bipyridine, 1,10-phenanthroline and triphenylphosphine. The complexes were characterized by elemental analyses, molecular weight measurement, magnetic, conductivity measurement, IR, electronic, 31P NMR, ESR and FAB mass spectra. The complexes were examined for crystalline/amorphous nature through XRD. Square-planar geometry around copper(II) is suggested with two bidentate pyrazoline ligands. In the additional complexes pyrazoline is monodentate. The bidentate and monodentate behavior of pyrazoline ligands was confirmed by IR and 31P NMR spectral data. All complexes were tested for in vitro antibacterial and antifungal activity and exhibit very good antibacterial and antifungal activity; coordination has a pronounced effect on the microbial activities. The brine shrimp bioassay was also carried out to study their in vitro cytotoxic properties. All complexes and adducts displayed potent cytotoxic activity against Artemia salina. Anti-inflammatory activity was also carried out by the carrageenan induced rat paw edema test. The complexes and adducts were found to have higher anti-inflammatory activity.  相似文献

Complexes [M(L)(L′)Cl?·?H2O], where M?=?Co(II), Ni(II), Cu(II), Zn(II), Cd(II), and Hg(II), L?=?ligand derived from reaction between benzofuran-2-carbohydrazide and 3,4,5-trimethoxybenzaldehyde (TMeOBFC) and L′?=?2-aminothiophenol (2-atp), have been synthesized. The structures of the complexes have been proposed from analytical data, IR, UV-Vis, 1H NMR, direct analysis in real time-mass spectra, ESR spectral data, magnetic, and thermal studies. The complexes are soluble in DMF and DMSO. Molar conductance values indicate that the complexes are non-electrolytes. Antibacterial and antifungal activities of the ligands and their metal complexes have been obtained against bacteria Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus and against fungi Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus flavus.  相似文献
