We call a quadratic extension of a cyclotomic field a quasi-cyclotomic field if it is non-abelian Galois over the rational number field. In this paper, we study the arithmetic of any quasi-cyclotomic field, including to determine the ring of integers of it, the decomposition nature of prime numbers in it, and the structure of the Galois group of it over the rational number field. We also describe explicitly all real quasi-cyclotomic fields, namely, the maximal real subfields of quasi-cyclotomic fields which are Galois over the rational number field. It gives a series of totally real fields and CM fields which are non-abelian Galois over the rational number field.  相似文献

A finite group G is called admissible over a given field if there exists a central division algebra that contains a G-Galois field extension as a maximal subfield. We give a definition of embedding problems of division algebras that extends both the notion of embedding problems of fields as in classical Galois theory, and the question which finite groups are admissible over a field. In a recent work by Harbater, Hartmann, and Krashen, all admissible groups over function fields of curves over complete discretely valued fields with algebraically closed residue field of characteristic zero have been characterized. We show that also certain embedding problems of division algebras over such a field can be solved for admissible groups.  相似文献

We present a new algorithm to decide finiteness of matrix groups defined over a field of positive characteristic. Together with previous work for groups in zero characteristic, this provides the first complete solution of the finiteness problem for finitely generated matrix groups over a field. We also give an algorithm to compute the order of a finite matrix group over a function field of positive characteristic by constructing an isomorphic copy of the group over a finite field. Our implementations of these algorithms are publicly available in Magma.  相似文献

Following Procesi, the center of the division ring of generic matrices over a field F is described as the fixed field of the symmetric group acting on a purely transcendental extension of F. For 3×3 matrices, the center is shown to be purely transcendental over F. In characteristic zero this is equivalent to saying that the field of simultaneous rational invariants of 3×3 matrices over F is a purely transcendental extension field of F.  相似文献

Quasi-cyclic codes over a finite field are viewed as cyclic codes over a noncommutative ring of matrices over a finite field. Our main result is a sharp bound for the number of vertices in a minimal forbidden subgraph for the graphs having minimum rank at most 3 over the finite field of order 2. We also list all 62 such minimal forbidden subgraphs. We conclude by exploring how some of these results over the finite field of order 2 extend to arbitrary fields and demonstrate that at least one third of the 62 are minimal forbidden subgraphs over an arbitrary field for the class of graphs having minimum rank at most 3 in that field.  相似文献

A nonassociative algebra is defined to be zeropotent if the square of any element is zero. In this paper, we give a complete classification of three-dimensional zeropotent algebras over the real number field up to isomorphism. By restricting the result to the subclass of Lie algebras, we can obtain a classification of three-dimensional real Lie algebras, which is in accordance with the Bianchi classification. Moreover, three-dimensional zeropotent algebras over a real closed field are classified in the same manner as those over the real number field.  相似文献

In this paper we compute the number of curves of genus 2 defined over a finite field k of odd characteristic up to isomorphisms defined over k; the even characteristic case is treated in an ongoing work (G. Cardona, E. Nart, J. Pujolàs, Curves of genus 2 over field of even characteristic, 2003, submitted for publication). To this end, we first give a parametrization of all points in , the moduli variety that classifies genus 2 curves up to isomorphism, defined over an arbitrary perfect field (of zero or odd characteristic) and corresponding to curves with non-trivial reduced group of automorphisms; we also give an explicit representative defined over that field for each of these points. Then, we use cohomological methods to compute the number of k-isomorphism classes for each point in .  相似文献

We prove that the category of cocommutative Hopf algebras over a field is a semi-abelian category. This result extends a previous special case of it, based on the Milnor–Moore theorem, where the field was assumed to have zero characteristic. Takeuchi's theorem asserting that the category of commutative and cocommutative Hopf algebras over a field is abelian immediately follows from this new observation. We also prove that the category of cocommutative Hopf algebras over a field is action representable. We make some new observations concerning the categorical commutator of normal Hopf subalgebras, and this leads to the proof that two definitions of crossed modules of cocommutative Hopf algebras are equivalent in this context.  相似文献

Several years ago, Bondal, Rouquier, and Van den Bergh introduced the notion of the dimension of a triangulated category, and Rouquier proved that the bounded derived category of coherent sheaves on a separated scheme of finite type over a perfect field has finite dimension. In this article, we study the dimension of the bounded derived category of finitely generated modules over a commutative Noetherian ring. The main result of this article asserts that it is finite over a complete local ring containing a field with perfect residue field. Our methods also give a ring-theoretic proof of the affine case of Rouquier's theorem.  相似文献

Under suitable hypotheses, we prove that a form of a projective homogeneous variety G/P defined over the function field of a surface over an algebraically closed field has a rational point. The method uses an algebro-geometric analogue of simple connectedness replacing the unit interval by the projective line. As a consequence, we complete the proof of Serre’s Conjecture II in Galois cohomology for function fields over an algebraically closed field.  相似文献
