We derive some formulas for the Carlitz q-Fibonacci polynomials Fn(t) which reduce to the finite version of the Rogers-Ramanujan identities obtained by I. Schur for t = 1. Our starting point is a representation of the q-Fibonacci polynomials as the weight of certain lattice paths in contained in a strip along the x-axis. We give an elementary combinatorial proof by using only the principle of inclusion-exclusion and some standard facts from q-analysis.  相似文献

Using a lemma proved by Akbary, Ghioca, and Wang, we derive several theorems on permutation polynomials over finite fields. These theorems give not only a unified treatment of some earlier constructions of permutation polynomials, but also new specific permutation polynomials over Fq. A number of earlier theorems and constructions of permutation polynomials are generalized. The results presented in this paper demonstrate the power of this lemma when it is employed together with other techniques.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the matrices related to the partial exponential Bell polynomials and those related to the Bell polynomials with respect to Ω. As a result, the factorizations of these matrices are obtained, which give unified approaches to the factorizations of many lower triangular matrices. Moreover, some combinatorial identities are also derived from the corresponding matrix representations.  相似文献

The q-Catalan numbers studied by Carlitz and Riordan are polynomials in q with nonnegative coefficients. They evaluate, at q = 1, to the Catalan numbers: 1, 1, 2, 5, 14,…, a log-convex sequence. We use a combinatorial interpretation of these polynomials to prove a q-log-convexity result. The sequence of q-Catalan numbers is not q-log-convex in the narrow sense used by other authors, so our work suggests a more flexible definition of q-log convex be adopted. Using the Padé approximation of the exponential function, we obtain recurrence relations between Apostol-Bernoulli and between Apostol-Euler polynomials. As applications, we derive some new lacunary recurrence relations for Bernoulli and Euler polynomials with gap of length 4 and lacunary relations for Bernoulli and Euler numbers with gap of length 6.  相似文献

We introduce and investigate generalized poly-Bernoulli numbers and polynomials. We state and prove several properties satisfied by these polynomials. The generalized poly-Bernoulli numbers are algebraic numbers. We introduce and study the Arakawa-Kaneko L-functions. The non-positive integer values of the complex variable s of these L-functions are expressed rationally in terms of generalized poly-Bernoulli numbers and polynomials. Furthermore, we prove difference and Raabe?s type formulae for these L-functions.  相似文献

We show some new variations on Tasoev's continued fractions , where the periodic parts include the exponentials in k instead of the polynomials in k. We also mention some relations with other kinds of continued fractions, in particular, with Rogers-Ramanujan continued fractions.  相似文献

We develop a duality theory for spaces of approximable n-homogeneous polynomials on locally convex spaces, generalising results previously obtained for Banach spaces. For E a Fréchet space with its dual having the approximation property and with E b locally Asplund we show that the space of n-homogeneous polynomials on (E b )′ b is the inductive dual of the space of boundedly weakly continuous n-homogeneous polynomials on E. We show that when E is a reflexive Fréchet space, the space of n-homogeneous polynomials on E is reflexive if and only if every n-homogeneous polynomial on E is boundedly weakly continuous. We obtain explicit upper bounds for the number of irreducible factors for a class of polynomials of the form f ○ g, where f,g are polynomials with integer coefficients, in terms of the prime factorization of the leading coefficients of f and g, the degrees of f and g, and the size of coefficients of f. In particular, some irreducibility results are given for this class of compositions of polynomials.  相似文献

An integer n is said to be arithmetic if the arithmetic mean of its divisors is an integer. In this paper, using properties of the factorization of values of cyclotomic polynomials, we characterize arithmetic numbers. As an application, we give an interesting characterization of Mersenne numbers.  相似文献

In the present paper we introduce some expansions which use the falling factorials for the Euler Gamma function and the Riemann Zeta function. In the proofs we use the Faá di Bruno formula, Bell polynomials, potential polynomials, Mittag-Leffler polynomials, derivative polynomials and special numbers (Eulerian numbers and Stirling numbers of both kinds). We investigate the rate of convergence of the series and give some numerical examples.  相似文献

We prove an upper bound for the Mahler measure of the Wronskian of a collection of N linearly independent polynomials with complex coefficients. If the coefficients of the polynomials are algebraic numbers we obtain an inequality for the absolute Weil heights of the roots of the polynomials. This later inequality is analogous to the abc inequality for polynomials, and also has applications to Diophantine problems.  In this report we detail the following story. Several centuries ago, Abel noticed that the well-known elementary integral
is just an augur of more surprising integrals of the shape
Here f is a polynomial of degree g and the D are certain polynomials of degree deg . Specifically, (so q divides ). Note that, morally, one expects such integrals to produce inverse elliptic functions and worse, rather than an innocent logarithm of an algebraic function. Abel went on to study, well, abelian integrals, and it is Chebychev who explains – using continued fractions – what is going on with these ‘quasi-elliptic’ integrals. Recently, the second author computed all the polynomials D over the rationals of degree 4 that have an f as above. We will explain various contexts in which the present issues arise. Those contexts include symbolic integration of algebraic functions; the study of units in function fields; and, given a suitable polynomial g, the consideration of period length of the continued fraction expansion of the numbers as n varies in the integers. But the major content of this survey is an introduction to period continued fractions in hyperelliptic – thus quadratic – function fields. Two general methods for establishing the logarithmic behavior of recursively defined sequences of real numbers are presented. One is the interlacing method, and the other one is based on calculus. Both methods are used to prove logarithmic behavior of some combinatorially relevant sequences, such as Motzkin and Schröder numbers, sequences of values of some classic orthogonal polynomials and many others. The calculus method extends also to numbers indexed by two or more parameters.  相似文献

Using the finite difference calculus and differentiation, we obtain several new identities for Bernoulli and Euler polynomials; some extend Miki's and Matiyasevich's identities, while others generalize a symmetric relation observed by Woodcock and some results due to Sun.  相似文献

Abstract

In this paper, using geometric polynomials, we obtain a generating function of p-Bernoulli numbers in terms of harmonic numbers. As consequences of this generating function, we derive closed formulas for the finite summation of Bernoulli and harmonic numbers involving Stirling numbers of the second kind. We also give a relationship between the p-Bernoulli numbers and the generalized Bernoulli polynomials.  相似文献

We study a family of orthogonal polynomials which generalizes a sequence of polynomials considered by L. Carlitz. We show that they are a special case of the Sheffer polynomials and point out some interesting connections with certain Sobolev orthogonal polynomials.  相似文献

In this paper, we obtain a generalization of an identity due to Carlitz on Bernoulli polynomials. Then we use this generalized formula to derive two symmetric identities which reduce to some known identities on Bernoulli polynomials and Bernoulli numbers, including the Miki identity.  相似文献

Letn be a positive integer andS n a particular set of prime divisors ofn. We establish the average order off(n) wheref(n) stands for the cardinality ofS n . Thek-ary,k-free, semi-k-ary prime factors ofn are some of the classes of prime divisors studied in this paper.

We fix a prime p and let f(X) vary over all monic integer polynomials of fixed degree n. Given any possible shape of a tamely ramified splitting of p in an extension of degree n, we prove that there exists a rational function φ(X)∈ℚ(X) such that the density of the monic integer polynomials f(X) for which the splitting of p has the given shape in ℚ[X]/f(X) is φ(p) (here reducible polynomials can be neglected). As a corollary, we prove that, for pn, the density of irreducible monic polynomials of degree n in ℤ p [X] is the value at p of a rational function φ n (X)∈ℚ(X). All rational functions involved are effectively computable. Received: 15 September 1998 / Revised version: 21 October 1999  相似文献
