This Letter describes the measurement of the energy dependence of elliptic flow for charged particles in Au+Au collisions using the PHOBOS detector at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider. Data taken at collision energies of square root of s(NN)=19.6, 62.4, 130, and 200 GeV are shown over a wide range in pseudorapidity. These results, when plotted as a function of eta(')=|eta|-y(beam), scale with approximate linearity throughout eta('), implying no sharp changes in the dynamics of particle production as a function of pseudorapidity or increasing beam energy. 相似文献

We calculate the two-body correlation function of direct photons produced in central Au+Au collisions at the Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider. Our calculation includes contributions from the early preequilibrium phase in which photons are produced via hard parton scatterings as well as radiation of photons from a thermalized quark-gluon plasma and the subsequent expanding hadron gas. We find that high energy photon interferometry provides a faithful probe of the details of the space-time evolution and of the early reaction stages of the system. 相似文献

We suggest that the "new form of matter" found just above T(c) by the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider is made up of tightly bound quark-antiquark pairs, essentially 32 chirally restored (more precisely, nearly massless) mesons of the quantum numbers of pi, sigma, rho, and a1. Taking the results of lattice gauge simulations (LGS) for the color Coulomb potential from the work of the Bielefeld group and feeding this into a relativistic two-body code, after modifying the heavy-quark lattice results so as to include the velocity-velocity interaction, all ground-state eigenvalues of the 32 mesons go to zero at T(c) just as they do from below T(c) as predicted by the vector manifestation of hidden local symmetry. This could explain the rapid rise in entropy up to T(c) found in LGS calculations. We argue that how the dynamics work can be understood from the behavior of the hard and soft glue. 相似文献

It has been proposed that electric fields may lead to chiral separation in quark-gluon plasma(QGP).This is called the chiral electric separation effect. The strong electromagnetic field and the QCD vacuum can both be completely produced in off-central nuclear-nuclear collision. We use the Woods-Saxon nucleon distribution to calculate the electric field distributions of off-central collisions. The chiral electric field spatial distribution at Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider(RHIC) and Large Hadron Collider(LHC) energy regions are systematically studied in this paper. The dependence of the electric field produced by the thermal quark in the central position with different impact parameters on the proper time with different collision energies in the RHIC and LHC energy regions are studied in this paper. 相似文献

A new lowest order QED calculation for BNL Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider e+ e- pair production has been carried out with a phenomenological treatment of the Coulomb dissociation of the heavy-ion nuclei observed in the STAR ZDC triggers. The lowest order QED result for the experimental acceptance is nearly 2 standard deviations larger than the STAR data. A corresponding higher-order QED calculation is consistent with the data. 相似文献

Using the Glauber model, we present the formulas for calculating the numbers of participants, spectators and binary nucleon-nucleon collisions. Based on this work, we get the pseudorapidity distributions of charged particles as the function of the impact parameter in nucleus-nucleus collisions. The theoretical results agree well with the experimental observations made by the BRAHMS Collaboration in Au+Au collisions at √SNN=200 GeV in different centrality bins over the whole pseudorapidity range. 相似文献

Emission of Neutral Pions with High Transverse Momenta in A-A and p-p Collisions at Energies Available at the BNL Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider 下载免费PDF全文
Invariant neutral pion (π^0) yields in Au-Au and Cu-Cu collisions and invariant π^0 cross sections in p-p collisions are studied in the framework of a two-cylinder model. The considered distributions of neutral pions at the maximum energy of the relativistic heavy ion eollider (RFIIC) have a tail part in the region of high transverse momentum. A two-component distribution based upon the two-cylinder model is used to describe the experimental data of the PHENIX collaboration. 相似文献

We investigate the beam energy dependence of neutron and proton squeeze-out in collisions of197Au+197Au atE/A=400—800 MeV. The azimuthal anisotropy that describes the enhanced emission of mid-rapidity neutrons perpendicular to the reaction plane rises strongly with the transverse momentum of the neutrons. This dependence of the azimuthal anisotropy follows a universal curve — independent of beam energy — if the neutron momenta are measured in fractions of the projectile momentum per mass unit. Analogously, the kinetic energy spectra of mid-rapidity neutrons exhibit a universal behaviour as a function of the kinetic energy of the projectile.

Charged particle pseudorapidity distributions are presented from the PHOBOS experiment at RHIC, measured in Au+Au and Cu+Cu
collisions at ?{sNN }\sqrt {s_{NN} } =19.6, 22.4, 62.4, 130 and 200 GeV, as a function of collision centrality. The presentation includes the recently analyzed
Cu+Cu data at 22.4 GeV. The measurements were made by the same detector setup over a broad range in pseudorapidity, |η| < 5.4, allowing for a reliable systematic study of particle production as a function of energy, centrality and system size.
Comparing Cu+Cu and Au+Au results, we find that the total number of produced charged particles and the overall shape (height
and width) of the pseudorapidity distributions are determined by the number of nucleon participants, N
part. Detailed comparisons reveal that the matching of the shape of the Cu+Cu and Au+Au pseudorapidity distributions over the
full range of η is better for the same N
part/2A value than for the same N
part value, where A denotes the mass number. In other words, it is the geometry of the nuclear overlap zone, rather than just the number of nucleon
participants that drives the detailed shape of the pseudorapidity distribution and its centrality dependence. 相似文献

Hydrodynamics has been rather successful at describing results obtained in relativistic nuclear collisions at RHIC. Here we
show results obtained with NeXSPheRIO on Au+Au collisions and the less studied Cu+Cu collisions. We study elliptic flow and
its connection with eccentricity suggested by PHOBOS, as well as present elliptic flow fluctuations. We also show results
for directed flow and compare with PHOBOS and STAR data. 相似文献

By employing the Glauber model, we give the centrality dependences of the numbers of participants and binary nucleon-nucleon collisions in nucleus-nucleus collisions. By taking into account the energy loss of the participants in their multiple collisions, we then present the pseudorapidity distributions of charged particles in nucleus-nucleus collisions as a function of beam energy and impact parameter. Finally, we analyze the centrality dependence of the pseudorapidity of the charged particles in Au+Au collisions at energies from √sNN=19.6 to 200 GeV.The theoretical results are in good agreement with the experimental observations of the RHIC-PHOBOS collaboration. 相似文献

Charged-particle pseudorapidity densities are presented for the d + Au reaction at sqrt[s(NN)] = 200 GeV with -4.2 < or = eta < or = 4.2. The results, from the BRAHMS experiment at BNL Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider, are shown for minimum-bias events and 0%-30%, 30%-60%, and 60%-80% centrality classes. Models incorporating both soft physics and hard, perturbative QCD-based scattering physics agree well with the experimental results. The data do not support predictions based on strong-coupling, semiclassical QCD. In the deuteron-fragmentation region the central 200 GeV data show behavior similar to full-overlap d+Au results at sqrt[s(NN)] = 19.4 GeV. 相似文献

We present spectra of charged hadrons from Au+Au and d+Au collisions at sqrt[s(NN)]=200 GeV measured with the BRAHMS experiment at RHIC. The spectra for different collision centralities are compared to spectra from p+(-)p collisions at the same energy scaled by the number of binary collisions. The resulting ratios (nuclear modification factors) for central Au+Au collisions at eta=0 and eta=2.2 evidence a strong suppression in the high p(T) region (>2 GeV/c). In contrast, the d+Au nuclear modification factor (at eta=0) exhibits an enhancement of the high p(T) yields. These measurements indicate a high energy loss of the high p(T) particles in the medium created in the central Au+Au collisions. The lack of suppression in d+Au collisions makes it unlikely that initial state effects can explain the suppression in the central Au+Au collisions. 相似文献

Differential and integrated directed flow and elliptic flow of light charged particles (z≤2) are studied systematically for semi-central (b=5 fm)197 Au+197 Au collisions at incident energies from 25 to 250 MeV/nucleon by the isospin-dependent quantum molecular dynamics model. The changes of directed and elliptic flow with incident energy reflect the dynamic competition between the mean field and nucleon-nucleon collisions and also between collective rotation and expansion. 相似文献
