Transmission metallic gratings with subwavelength slits are known to produce enhanced transmitted intensity for certain resonant wavelengths. One of the mechanisms that produce these resonances is the excitation of waveguide modes inside the slits. We show that by adding slits to the period, the transmission maxima are widened and, simultaneously, this generates phase resonances that appear as sharp dips in the transmission response. These resonances are characterized by a significant enhancement of the interior field.  相似文献

We investigate the response of gratings formed by subwavelength wires in a dielectric medium. For gratings with a single wire per period, most of the incident power is transmitted through the structure. If the distance between adjacent wires is small enough, the excitation of waveguide modes can lead to reflection resonances. However, only when the period is formed by several wires (compound grating), new degrees of freedom are introduced for the phase distribution of the field inside the slits, allowing a new class of resonances analyzed in this letter. We give numerical examples illustrating the combined effect produced by both types of resonances in the grating response.  相似文献

We show that a physical mechanism responsible for the enhanced transmission and reflection of ultrashort (few-cycle) pulses by a single subwavelength slit in a thick metallic film is the Fabry-Perot-like resonant excitation of stationary, quasistationary, and nonstationary waves inside the slit, which leads to the field enhancement inside and around the slit. The mechanism is universal for any pulse-scatter system, which supports the stationary resonances. We point out that there is a pulse duration limit below which the slit does not support the intraslit resonance.  相似文献

A complete landscape is presented of the acoustic transmission properties of subwavelength apertures (slits and holes). First, we study the emergence of Fabry-Perot resonances in single apertures. When these apertures are placed in a periodic fashion, a new type of transmission resonance appears in the spectrum. We demonstrate that this resonance stems from the excitation of an acoustic guided wave that runs along the plate, which hybridizes strongly with the Fabry-Perot resonances associated with waveguide modes in single apertures. A detailed discussion of the similarities and differences with the electromagnetic case is also given.  相似文献

Ultrastructure of all larval instars of Parasarcophaga dux (Thomson), a common flesh fly species in Thailand, is presented using scanning electron microscopy. Special attention is given to the structure of anterior and posterior spiracles since these are important features used to differentiate between other sarcophagids. Each anterior spiracle in second and third instars has a single row of papillae varying in number from 14 to 17. The posterior spiracular discs have incomplete peritremes, with a prominent inner arc. Three long, narrow spiracular slits are oriented more or less vertically in each spiracular disc of third instar. Posterior spiracular hairs lack extensive branching and emanate approximately midway down the length of each slit. Microscopic morphology of the mouthhooks markedly differs between the first and second instars. The structure of these mouthhooks supports this fly species as being necrophagous or capable of producing myiasis.  相似文献

We investigate the optical response of two subwavelength grooves on a metallic screen, separated by a subwavelength distance. We show that the cavity, Fabry-Perot-like mode, already observed in one-dimensional periodic gratings and known for a single slit, splits into two resonances in our system: a symmetric mode with a small Q factor, and an antisymmetric one which leads to a much stronger field enhancement. This behavior results from the near-field coupling of the grooves. Moreover, the use of a second incident wave allows control of the localization of the photons in the groove of our choice, depending on the phase difference between the two incident waves. The system acts exactly as a subwavelength optical switch operated from far field.  相似文献

A technique capable of focusing and bending electromagnetic (EM) waves through plasmonic gratings with equally spaced alternately tapered slits has been introduced. Phase resonances are observed in the optical response of transmission gratings, and the EM wave passes through the tuning slits in the form of surface plasmon polaritons (SPPs) and obtains the required phase retardation to focus at the focal plane. The bending effect is achieved by constructing an asymmetric phase front which results from the tapered slits and gradient refractive index (GRIN) distribution of the dielectric material. Rigorous electromagnetic analysis by using the two-dimensional (2D) finite difference time domain (FDTD) method is employed to verify our proposed designs. When the EM waves are incident at an angle on the optical axis, the beam splitting effect can also be achieved. These index-modulated slits are demonstrated to have unique advantages in beam manipulation compared with the width-modulated ones. In combination with previous studies, it is expected that our results could lead to the realization of ootimum designs for plasmonic nanolenses.  相似文献

We propose a terahertz hybrid metamaterial composed of subwavelength metallic slits and graphene plasmonic ribbons for sensing application. This special design can cause the interaction between the plasmon resonances of the metallic slits and graphene ribbons, giving rise to a strong coupling effect and Rabi splitting. Intricate balancing in the strong coupling region can be perturbed by the carrier concentration of graphene, which is subject to the analyte on its surface. Thereby, the detection of analyte can be reflected as a frequency shift of resonance in terahertz transmission spectra. The result shows that this sensor can achieve a theoretical detection limit of 325 electrons or holes per square micrometer. Meanwhile, it also works well as a refractive index sensor with the frequency sensitivity of 485 GHz/RIU. Our results may contribute to design of ultra-micro terahertz sensors.  相似文献

We numerically study the propagation of light in 2D photonic crystals (PC) made of infinite cylinders of high refractive index, via the excitation of their morphological dependent resonances, in the presence of metallic arrays of subwavelength slits, either corrugated or not, that may produce extraordinary transmission. In this way, we confirm and illustrate previous theoretical findings on PCs and show new effects when combined with slits. Among them, we show that the whispering gallery mode excitation in the PC couples dominates the transmission of the slit arrays alone. Appropriate design of the system parameters and the illumination conditions, selects the transport and confinement of energy.  相似文献

A new band gap structure composed of a square array of parallel steel tubes with narrow slits is presented. The propagation of acoustic waves in a two-dimensional composite medium constituted of slit tubes in air is investigated both theoretically and experimentally. The band gap is calculated with the finite element method in which the acoustic-solid coupling is taken into account. The transmissions of the band system with both different single-width narrow slits and multi-width narrow slits are analyzed. Experimental measurements show that the transmission through an array of slit tubes with periodic narrow slits drops to noise level throughout frequency interval in good agreement with the calculated forbidden band. The large band gap and low starting frequency is obtained by arranging different width of slits embedded in the tubes. The experiments and theoretical results show that this new band gap structure has an especial character based on the resonant cavity playing an important role on the band gap besides the traditional Bragg interference.  相似文献

In this paper, we discuss the influence of ratio of minor to major axis on the propagation property and focusing performance of a plasmonic lens with variant periodic concentric elliptical slits illuminating under a Gaussian beam. In order to analyse the influence theoretically, a finite-difference time-domain (FDTD) numerical algorithm is adopted for the computational numerical calculation and the design of the plasmonic structure. The structure is flanked with penetrated slits through a 200-nm metal film (Au) which is coated on a quartz substrate. Tunability of focusing capability of the plasmonic lenses is studied by tailoring the ratio. Our calculation results demonstrate that the ratio of the elliptical slits greatly affects the focusing capability of the lense. The plasmonic lenses with concentric elliptical slits illuminating under a Gaussian beam have ultra-elongated depth of focus. These results are very encouraging for the future study of the plasmonic lens-based applications.  相似文献

A symmetric plasmonic structure consisting of metal-insulator-metal waveguide, groove and slot cavities is studied, which supports double Fano resonances deriving from two different mechanisms. One of the Fano resonances originates from the interference between the resonances of groove and slot cavities, and the other comes from the interference between slot cavities. The spectral line shapes and the peaks of the double Fano resonances can be modulated by changing the length of the slot cavities and the height of the groove. Furthermore,the wavelength of the resonance peak has a linear relationship with the length of the slot cavities. The proposed plasmonic nanosensor possesses a sensitivity of 800 nm/RIU and a figure of merit of 3150, which may have important applications in switches, sensors, and nonlinear devices.  相似文献

In this paper the influence of slits on sound reduction index of double steel frame partitions with and without mineral wool in the cavity was examined. It was shown that the sound insulation of the partition is strongly dependent on the relative position of the slits on each steel frame. As could be expected, the reduction in sound insulation due to slits is lower in partitions without mineral wool in the cavity, since the effect of slits is more important in the case of partitions with high sound insulation.  相似文献

In this paper we study the extraordinary optical transmission of one-dimensional multi-slits in an ideal metal film.The transmissivity is calculated as a function of various structural parameters.The transmissivity oscillates,with the period being just the light wavelength,as a function of the spacing between slits.As the number of slits increases,the transmissivity varies in one of three ways.It can increase,attenuate,or remain basically unchanged,depending on the spacing between slits.Each way is in an oscillatory manner.The slit interaction responsible for the oscillating transmission strength that depends on slit spacing is the subject of more detailed investigation.The interaction most intuitively manifests as a current distribution in the metal surface between slits.We find that this current is attenuated in an oscillating fashion from the slit corners to the center of the region between two adjacent slits,and we present a mathematical expression for its waveform.  相似文献

文章作者提出了一种结构简单、易于实现的薄膜型声学超常介质,不仅从实验上证实了它能够在100Hz到1000Hz的低频范围内以200倍的幅度打破声波衰减的质量密度定理,而且还给出了相应的理论解释.由于薄膜弱小的弹性模量,对于一块周边被硬边框所固定的小面积的弹性薄膜而言,仍然存在着各种不同的低频振荡模式.这些振荡模式的本征频率可以通过在薄膜的中央放置一个小的质量块而调整.文章作者惊奇地发现,在位于两个最低的本征频率之间的某个特定频率处,入射的声波几乎完全被反射,此时整个薄膜面内的平均法向位移为零.借助于有限元数值模拟方法,也发现在全反射频率附近薄膜的动态质量密度是负的.实验结果和理论计算符合得非常好.与此同时还发现,微波在某些频率全透射通过金属分型结构的现象可以用类似的机制来解释,而且这些全透射频率也是位于两个局域共振频率之间.  相似文献

根据在亚波长金属光栅表面添加电介质会引起TE偏振光的透射异常性, 应用严格耦合波理论和时域有限差分方法, 研究了双层金属纳米光栅在TE偏振光入射时产生的异常透射现象. 利用等效折射率方法建立了双层金属光栅的等效模型, 得到了TE偏振光透射率与聚合物的折射率、厚度以及金属层厚度的变化关系. 确认了结构中聚合物是透射异常出现的必要条件, TE偏振光以波导电磁模式在其中传播, 并认为类Fabry-Perot腔谐振是透射峰值产生的主要原因.  相似文献

The transmission characteristics of a metallic film with subwavelength periodic slits are investigated by using the two-dimensional finite-difference time-domain method (2D-FDTD). Two models are constructed to show the dependance of the transmission spectrum on the slit structure. A sandwiched structure is used to exhibit the contribution of the metallic wall inside slits to the extraordinary high transmission. And a filled slit structure is employed to reflect the relation between the average refractive index inside the slits and the transmission spectrum of the structure. The transmission characteristics of two structures can be explained well with the waveguide resonance theory.  相似文献

The diffraction pattern for particles passingthrough N slits is obtained by a truncation assumptionon the Gaussian wave function when passing the slits andby pure wave propagation governed by the Schrodinger equation with boundaries. The standard limitingsituations give the usual results. In case of a greatnumber of equal and equally separated slits thecalculations are performed by considering also theenergy band structure induced by the periodic boundarygeometry on the initial conditions.
