The degradation of 2-(2,4-dichlorophenoxy)-5-chlorophenol (triclosan) in chlorinated water samples was investigated. Sensitive determination of the parent compound and its transformation products was achieved by gas chromatography with mass spectrometry detection after sample concentration, using a solid-phase extraction sorbent and silylation of the target compounds. Experiments were accomplished using ultrapure water spiked with chlorine and triclosan concentrations in the low mg/l and ng/ml ranges respectively. Chlorination of the phenolic ring and cleavage of the ether bond were identified as the main triclosan degradation pathways. Both processes led to the production of two tetra- and a penta-chlorinated hydroxylated diphenyl ether, as well as 2,4-dichlorophenol. The formation of 2,3,4-trichlorophenol was not detected in any experiment; however, significant amounts of 2,4,6-trichlorophenol were noticed. All of these five compounds were also identified when triclosan was added to tap-water samples with free chlorine concentrations below 1 mg/l. Minor amounts of three di-hydroxylated phenols, containing from one to three atoms of chlorine in their structures, were also identified as unstable triclosan chlorination by-products. The analysis of several raw wastewater samples showed the co-existence of important concentrations of triclosan and its most stable by-products (2,4-dichlorophenol and 2,4,6-trichlorophenol), reinforcing the potential occurrence of the described transformations when products containing triclosan are mixed with chlorinated tap water.  相似文献

A novel, simple and efficient dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction based on solidification of floating organic droplet (DLLME-SFO) technique coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography with ultraviolet detection (HPLC-UV) and liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) was developed for the determination of triclosan and its degradation product 2,4-dichlorophenol in real water samples. The extraction solvent used in this work is of low density, low volatility, low toxicity and proper melting point around room temperature. The extractant droplets can be collected easily by solidifying it at a lower temperature. Parameters that affect the extraction efficiency, including type and volume of extraction solvent and dispersive solvent, salt effect, pH and extraction time, were investigated and optimized in a 5 mL sample system by HPLC-UV. Under the optimum conditions (extraction solvent: 12 μL of 1-dodecanol; dispersive solvent: 300 of μL acetonitrile; sample pH: 6.0; extraction time: 1 min), the limits of detection (LODs) of the pretreatment method combined with LC-MS/MS were in the range of 0.002-0.02 μg L(-1) which are lower than or comparable with other reported approaches applied to the determination of the same compounds. Wide linearities, good precisions and satisfactory relative recoveries were also obtained. The proposed technique was successfully applied to determine triclosan and 2,4-dichlorophenol in real water samples.  相似文献

A sensitive and solvent-free procedure for the determination of non-steroidal acidic anti-inflammatory drugs in water samples was optimized using solid-phase microextraction (SPME) followed by on-fiber silylation of the acidic compounds and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) determination. Microextraction was carried out directly over the filtered water samples using a polyacrylate fiber. Derivatization was performed placing the SPME fiber, loaded with the extracted analytes, in the headspace of a vial containing 50 microl of N-methyl-N-(tert-butyldimethylsilyl)-trifluoroacetamide (MTBSTFA). Derivatives were desorbed for 3 min in the GC injector. Influence of several parameters in the efficiency of microextraction (volume of sample, time, pH, type of fiber coating, etc.) and derivatization steps (time, temperature and volume of MTBSTFA) was systematically investigated. In the optimal conditions an excellent linearity over three orders of magnitude and quantification limits at the ng/l level (from 12 to 40 ng/l) were achieved. The proposed method was applied to the determination of acidic compounds in sewage water and results compared to those obtained using solid-phase extraction (SPE) followed by the derivatization of the compounds in the organic extract of the solid-phase extraction cartridge.  相似文献

This study evaluates solid-phase microextraction (SPME) coupled with gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) to determine trace levels of amphetamine and methamphetamine in serum. Headspace post-derivatization in a laboratory-made design with heptafluorobutyric anhydride vapor following SPME was compared with that without derivatization SPME. The SPME experimental procedures to extract amphetamine and methamphetamine in serum were optimized with a relatively non-polar poly(dimethylsiloxane) coated fiber at pH 9.5, extraction time for 40 min and desorption at 260 degrees C for 2 min. Experimental results indicate that the concentration of the serum matrix diluted to a quarter of original (1:3) ratio by using one volume of buffer solution of boric acid mixed with sodium hydroxide and two volumes of water improves the extraction efficiency. Headspace derivatization following SPME was performed by using 6 microl 20% (v/v) heptafluorobutyric anhydride ethyl acetate solution at an oil bath temperature of 270 degrees C for 10 s. The precision was below 7% for analysis for without derivatization and below 17% for headspace derivatization. Detection limits were obtained at the ng/l level, one order better obtained in headspace derivatization than those achieved without derivatization. The feasibility of applying the methods to determine amphetamine and methamphetamine in real samples was examined by analyzing serum samples from methamphetamine abused suspects. Concentrations of the amphetamine and methamphetamine ranged from 6.0 microg/l (amphetamine) to 77 microg/l (methamphetamine) in serum.  相似文献

A method using on-line solid-phase microextraction (SPME) on a carbowax-templated fiber followed by liquid chromatography (LC) with ultraviolet (UV) detection was developed for the determination of triclosan in environmental water samples. Along with triclosan, other selected phenolic compounds, bisphenol A, and acidic pharmaceuticals were studied. Previous SPME/LC or stir-bar sorptive extraction/LC-UV for polar analytes showed lack of sensitivity. In this study, the calculated octanol–water distribution coefficient (log D) values of the target analytes at different pH values were used to estimate polarity of the analytes. The lack of sensitivity observed in earlier studies is identified as a lack of desorption by strong polar–polar interactions between analyte and solid-phase. Calculated log D values were useful to understand or predict the interaction between analyte and solid phase. Under the optimized conditions, the method detection limit of selected analytes by using on-line SPME-LC-UV method ranged from 5 to 33 ng?L?1, except for very polar 3-chlorophenol and 2,4-dichlorophenol which was obscured in wastewater samples by an interfering substance. This level of detection represented a remarkable improvement over the conventional existing methods. The on-line SPME-LC-UV method, which did not require derivatization of analytes, was applied to the determination of TCS including phenolic compounds and acidic pharmaceuticals in tap water and river water and municipal wastewater samples.

Alkylthiols are very reactive and highly volatile compounds, and thus it is difficult to determine these in the water phase. In the present work, an in situ derivatization step prior to solid-phase microextraction (SPME) has been developed for their determination in water samples. The dinitrobenzylation reaction was selected because the high chemical stability of the corresponding thioethers formed provides a significant increase in the distribution coefficient between the SPME fibre and the aqueous phase, and a potential increase in the selectivity and sensitivity. Therefore, different derivatization reaction conditions (i.e. pH, temperature, reaction time and derivatizating reagent concentration) have been studied. Then, the main parameters affecting to the SPME process, that is coating selection, extraction time profile, extraction and desorption temperatures, have been optimized. Finally, a method based on a simple 2,4-dinitrophenylation reaction at pH 8–10, in 60?min at 75°C, coupled to direct SPME using PDMS-DVB fibres at 30°C for 45?min is proposed. The performance of the method provided a good linearity and precision data, and the detection limits were in the low ng?L?1 level.  相似文献

A solvent-free method for the determination of five estrogens in water samples at the low ng/l was optimized. Compounds were first concentrated on a polyacrylate (PA) solid-phase microextraction (SPME) fiber, directly exposed to the water sample, and then on-fiber silylated on the headspace of a vial containing 50 microl of N-methyl-N-(trimethylsilyl) trifluoroacetamide (MSTFA). Derivatized analytes were determined using GC with MS/MS detection. Influence of several factors on the efficiency of the microextraction step (e.g. time, sample volume, pH, ionic strength and fiber coating) is systematically described. Derivatization conditions were optimized in order to achieve the complete silylation of all hydroxyl groups contained in the structure of the compounds. Detection limits (from 0.2 to 3 ng/l) are compared with those obtained using the same detection technique and different sample preparation strategies, such as solid-phase extraction followed by silylation of the analytes in the organic extract and SPME without derivatization. The method was applied to the analysis of sewage water samples. Two of the investigated species were detected above the quantification limits of the procedure.  相似文献

Headspace solid-phase microextraction (SPME) was studied as a possible alternative to liquid-liquid extraction for the analysis of haloacetic acids (HAAs) in water. The method involves derivatization of the acids to their ethyl esters using sulphuric acid and ethanol after evaporation, followed by headspace SPME with a polydimethylsiloxane fibre and gas chromatography-ion trap mass spectrometry (GC-IT-MS). The derivatization procedure was optimized: maximum sensitivity was obtained with esterification for 10 min at 50 degrees C in 30 microl of sulphuric acid and 40 microl of ethanol. The headspace SPME conditions were also optimized and good sensitivity was obtained at a sampling temperature of 25 degrees C, an absorption time of 10 min, the addition of 0.1 g of anhydrous sodium sulfate and a desorption time of 2 min. Good precision (RSD lower than 10%) and detection limits in the ng l(-1) range (from 10 to 200 ng l(-1)) were obtained for all the compounds. The optimized procedure was applied to the analysis of HAAs in tap water and the results obtained by standard addition agreed with those of EPA method 552.2, whereas discrepancies due to matrix interferences were observed using external calibration. Consequently, headspace SPME-GC-IT-MS with standard addition is recommended for the analysis of these compounds in drinking water.  相似文献

The simultaneous determination of several odorous trichlorobromophenols in water has been carried out by an in-sample derivatization headspace solid-phase microextraction method (HS-SPME).The analytical procedure involved their derivatization to methyl ethers with dimethyl sulfate/NaOH and further HS-SPME and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC/MS) determination. Parameters affecting both the derivatization efficiency and headspace SPME procedures, such as the selection of the SPME fiber coating, derivatization–extraction time and temperature, were studied. The commercially available polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) 100 μm and Carboxen-polydimethylsiloxane-divinylbenzene (CAR-PDMS-DVB) fibers appeared to be the most suitable for the simultaneous determination of these compounds. The precision of the HS-SPME/GC/MS method gave good relative standard deviations (RSDs) run-to-run between 9% and 19% for most of them, except for 2,5-diCl-6-Br-phenol, 2,6-diCl-3-Br-phenol and-2,3,6-triBr-phenol (22%, 25% and 23%, respectively). The method was linear over two orders of magnitude, and detection limits were compound dependent but ranged from 0.22 ng/l to 0.95 ng/l. The results obtained for water samples using the proposed SPME procedure were compared with those found with the EPA 625 method, and good agreement was achieved. Therefore, the in-sample derivatization HS-SPME/GC/MS procedure here proposed is a suitable method for the simultaneous determination of odorous trichlorobromophenols in water.  相似文献

In solid phase micro-extraction (SPME), the analyte is partitioned between the coating and the sample and then desorption of the concentrated analyte is followed by GC-MS, where the analytes are thermally desorbed and subsequently separated on the column and quantified by the detector. The SPME method preserves all the advantages, such as simplicity, low cost, on site sampling and does not require solvents. Poly(acrylate) coating fibers have been developed for the extraction of phenols (such as 4-tert-butylphenol, 2,4-dichlorophenol, 4-n-pentylphenol, 4-n-hexylphenol, 4-tert-octylphenol, 4-n-heptylphenol, 4-n-nonylphenol, 4-n-octylphenol, pentachlorophenol and bisphenol A) in different water samples. The precision of the HS-SPME method ranges from 3–12% RSDs, depending on the compounds analyzed. More accurate results were obtained by HS-SPME with acidification and salting out, where the fiber is located above the liquid sample. The extraction period was 60 min, followed by desorption for 5 min at 300°C. After the analytes were completely desorbed, 1 μl of bis(trimethylsilyl)trifluoroacetamide (BSTFA) was injected by ordinary GC-MS injection. The trimethylsilylate peaks were improved significantly compared with free phenol peaks. The addition of salt (saturated sodium chloride) and acidification by hydrochloric acid (pH 2.0) were found to be very important for enhancing the partitioning of the polar phenols into the polymer coating and preventing ionization of the analytes. The method is capable of limits of detection of subparts per billion of the total phenols extracted from environmental water samples.  相似文献

Porous polyaniline coatings doped with different counter ions were electrodeposited on the surface of stainless steel wires using controlled potentiostatic coulometry. Prior to electropolymerization, the stainless steel wires were chemically etched to improve subsequent immobilization of the polyaniline coatings on the substrate and to increase the effective surface area. Porous polyaniline coatings doped with sulfate, nitrate, and perchlorate counter ions were employed for solid-phase microextraction (SPME) of 2-chlorophenol, 2,4-dichlorophenol, triclosan, and 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid coupled to high-performance liquid chromatography. The results demonstrated that the perchlorate doped polyaniline coating exhibited the highest extraction efficiency for 2-chlorophenol, 2,4-dichlorophenol, and triclosan at pH 5.0, indicating that the extraction capability was modified by introducing different counter ions into the coatings. As a result, the perchlorate doped polyaniline coated fiber was further used for the optimization of extraction condition s . The method provided linear dynamic ranges over 2 to 4 orders of magnitude. The limits of detection were 0.006 µg · L?1, 0.005 µg · L?1, and 0.040 µg · L?1 for 2-chlorophenol, 2,4-dichlorophenol, and triclosan, respectively. The precision expressed as the relative standard deviation ranged from 2.20% to 5.04% for spiked water at 10 µg · L ?1 (n = 5) and the fiber to fiber reproducibility was between 3.27% and 5.91% (n = 5). The method was successfully applied to the determination of chlorophenolics in real water samples. The recoveries of chlorophenolics in spiked water at 5.0 µg · L?1 were between 99.60% and 108.7% with relative standard deviations between 3.24% and 5.47%.  相似文献

A method for the simultaneous measurement of trace amounts of phenolic xenoestrogens, such as 2,4-dichlorophenol (2,4-DCP), 4-tert-butyl-phenol (BP), 4-tert-octylphenol (OP), 4-nonylphenol (NP), pentachlorophenol (PCP) and bisphenol A (BPA), in water samples was developed using stir bar sorptive extraction (SBSE) with in situ derivatization followed by thermal desorption (TD)-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis. The conditions for derivatization with acetic acid anhydride were investigated. A polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS)-coated stir bar and derivatization reagents were added to 10 ml of water sample and stirring was commenced for 10-180 min at room temperature (25 degrees C) in a headspace vial. Then, the extract was analyzed by TD-GC-MS. The optimum time for SBSE with in situ derivatization was 90 min. The detection limits of 2,4-DCP, BP, OP, NP, PCP and BPA were 2, 1, 0.5, 5, 2 and 2 pg ml(-1), respectively. The method showed good linearity over the concentration ranges of 10, 5, 2, 20, 10 and 10-1000 pg ml(-1) for 2,4-DCP, BP, OP, NP, PCP and BPA, respectively, and the correlation coefficients were higher than 0.99. The average recoveries of those compounds in river water samples were equal to or higher than 93.9% (R.S.D. <7.2%) with correction using the added surrogate standards. This simple, accurate, sensitive and selective method can be used in the determination of trace amounts of phenolic xenoestrogens in river water samples.  相似文献

A solid-phase microextraction (SPME)-gas chromatography (GC)-mass spectrometry (MS) analytical method for the simultaneous separation and determination of 16 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) from aqueous samples has been developed, based on the sorption of target analytes on a selectively sorptive fibre and subsequent desorption of analytes directly into GC-MS. The influence of various parameters on PAH extraction efficiency by SPME was thoroughly studied. Results show that the fibre exposure time and the use of agitation during exposure are critical in enhancing SPME performance. The presence of colloidal organic matter (as simulated by humic acid) in water samples is shown to significantly reduce the extraction efficiency, suggesting that SPME primarily extracts the truly dissolved compounds. This offers the significant advantage of allowing the differentiation between freely available dissolved compounds and those associated with humic material and potentially biologically unavailable. The method showed good linearity up to 10 μg/l. The reproducibility of the measurements expressed as relative standard deviation (R.S.D.) was generally <20%. The method developed was then applied to extract PAHs from sediment porewater samples collected from the Mersey Estuary, UK. Total PAH concentrations in porewater were found to vary between 95 and 742 ng/l with two to four ring PAHs predominating. Results suggest that SPME has the potential to accurately determine the dissolved concentrations of PAHs in sediment porewater.  相似文献

The feasibility of solid-phase microextraction (SPME) for the determination of several organophosphorus flame retardants and plastizicers in water samples by gas chromatography-nitrogen phosphorous detection (GC-NPD) is evaluated. These compounds have a wide range of polarities and volatilities and require a thorough optimisation of the different SPME parameters. Considering also possible contamination and carryover sources, the best compromise microextraction conditions were found to be direct extraction of 22 ml samples, containing 300 mg/ml of NaCl, with a PDMS-DVB coated fibre at room temperature. Although equilibrium was not achieved, an extraction time of 40 min allowed obtaining a good sensitivity (quantification limits between 0.010 and 0.025 ng/ml), comparable to that achieved by solid-phase extraction (SPE) of 1l samples, producing both similar values of precision and accuracy. Furthermore, the SPME method has shown to be free of matrix effects, avoiding the need of employing the standard addition procedure for quantification, and was suitable for the determination of eight of the nine considered compounds. Only tris-(2-ethylhexyl)-phosphate was neither determinable by SPME nor by SPE. Finally, the application of the developed methodology to the analysis of wastewater samples, showed that important concentrations of these compounds (up to 10 ng/ml) have been detected in treated sewage water, being discharged into the aquatic environment.  相似文献

The objective this study was to compare the official EU liquid-liquid extraction (LLE) method with solid-phase microextraction (SPME) for the analysis of compounds migrating from cross-linked polyethylene into water. A medium polarity polydimethylsiloxane/divinylbenzene (PDMS/DVB) 65 microm fibre proved most efficient for the SPME extraction of nine test compounds and the optimum extraction conditions were an immersion time of 30 min with heating to 60 degrees C. The repeatability of the SPME method was variable: RSD values ranged from approximately 4-18% depending on the individual compound, though correlation coefficients were greater than 0.999 in the concentration range 0.5-1000 microg/l. It would also seem that there is some competition amongst different compounds for sites on the fibre and this is a potential drawback of SPME when applied to unknown samples. However, when applied to water samples in contact with polyethylene, SPME proved to be immensely more sensitive and to have a greater extraction range than LLE. These factors coupled with the rapidity and ease of use of SPME mean that it could be developed for use as an alternative to the existing official method or as an alert system in the routine analysis of materials used to transport domestic water.  相似文献

A sensitive procedure for the determination of three UV filters: ethylhexyl salicylate (EHS), 3,3,5-trimethylcyclohexyl salicylate (Homosalate, HMS), 2-hydroxy-4-methoxybenzophenone (BP-3) and two related hydroxylated benzophenones (2,4-dihydroxybenzophenone, BP-1 and 2,2′-dihydroxy-4-methoxybenzophenone, BP-8) in water samples is presented. Analytes were first concentrated on the coating of a solid-phase microextraction (SPME) fibre, on-fibre silylated and then determined using gas chromatography combined with tandem mass spectrometry (GC-MS/MS). Factors affecting the performance of extraction and derivatization steps are thoroughly evaluated and their effects on the yield of the sample preparation discussed. Under final working conditions, a PDMS-DVB coated SPME fibre was exposed directly to 10 mL of water, adjusted at pH 3, for 30 min. After that, the fibre was placed in the headspace (HS) of a 1.5 mL vial containing 20 μL of N-methyl-N-(trimethylsilyl)-trifluoroacetamide (MSTFA). On-fibre silylation of hydroxyl groups contained in the structure of target compounds was performed at 45 °C for 10 min. The whole sample preparation process was completed in 40 min, providing limits of quantification from 0.5 to 10 ng L−1 and acceptable precision (RSDs under 13%) for samples spiked at different concentrations. All compounds could be accurately determined in river and treated wastewater (relative recoveries from 89 to 115%) using standards in ultrapure water, whereas standard addition is recommended to quantify their levels in untreated wastewater. Analysis of wastewater revealed the systematic presence of BP-3 and BP-1 in raw samples with maximum concentrations close to 500 and 250 ng L−1, respectively.  相似文献

Solid-phase microextraction (SPME) was used for the analysis of some pesticides (bromoxynil, chlorotoluron, diuron, isoproturon, 2,4-MCPA, MCPP and 2,4-D) in rainwater after derivatisation with PFBBr and gas chromatography-ion trap mass spectrometry. The derivatisation procedure was optimized by testing different methods: direct derivatisation in the aqueous phase followed by SPME extraction, on-fibre derivatisation and derivatisation in the injector. The best result was obtained by headspace coating the PDMS/DVB fibre with PFBBr for 10 min followed by direct SPME extraction for 60 min at 68 °C (pH 2 and 75% NaCl). Good detection limits were obtained for all the compounds: these ranged between 10 and 1,000 ng L−1 with a relatively high uncertainty due to the combination of derivatisation and SPME extraction steps. The optimized procedure was applied to the analysis of pesticides in rainwater and results obtained shows that this method is a fast and simple technique to assess the spatial and temporal variations of concentrations of pesticides in rainwater.  相似文献

A polypyrrole (Ppy)/graphene (G) composite was developed and applied as a novel coating for use in solid-phase microextraction (SPME) coupled with gas chromatography (GC). The Ppy/G-coated fiber was prepared by electrochemically polymerizing pyrrole and G on a stainless-steel wire. The extraction efficiency of Ppy/G-coated fiber for five phenols was the highest compared with the fibers coated with either Ppy or Ppy/graphene oxide (GO) using the same method preparation. Significantly, compared with various commercial fibers, the extraction efficiency of Ppy/G-coated fiber is better than or comparable to 85 μm CAR/PDMS fiber (best extraction efficiency of phenol, o-cresol, and m-cresol in commercial fibers) and 85 μm polyacrylate (PA) fiber (best extraction efficiency of 2,4-dichlorophenol and p-bromophenol in commercial fibers). The effects of extraction and desorption parameters such as extraction time, stirring rate, and desorption temperature and time on the extraction/desorption efficiency were investigated and optimized. The calibration curves were linear from 10 to 1000 μg/L for o-cresol, m-cresol, p-bromophenol, and 2,4-dichlorophenol, and from 50 to 1000 μg/L for phenol. The detection limits were within the range 0.34-3.4 μg/L. The single fiber and fiber-to-fiber reproducibilities were <8.3 (n=7) and 13.3% (n=4), respectively. The recovery of the phenols spiked in natural water samples at 200 μg/L ranged from 74.1 to 103.9% and the relative standard deviations were <3.7%.  相似文献

A new sample pretreatment technique, ultrasound-assisted headspace liquid-phase microextraction was developed as mentioned in this paper. In the technique, the volatile analytes were headspace extracted into a small drop of solvent, which suspended on the bottom of a cone-shaped PCR tube instead of the needle tip of a microsyringe. More solvent could be suspended in the PCR tube than microsyringe due to the larger interfacial tension, thus the analysis sensitivity was significantly improved with the increase of the extractant volume. Moreover, ultrasound-assisted extraction and independent controlling temperature of the extractant and the sample were performed to enhance the extraction efficiency. Following the extraction, the solvent-loaded sample was analyzed by high-performance liquid chromatography. Chlorophenols (2-chlorophenol, 2,4-dichlorophenol and 2,6-dichlorophenol) were chosen as model analytes to investigate the feasibility of the method. The experimental conditions related to the extraction efficiency were systematically studied. Under the optimum experimental conditions, the detection limit (S/N=3), intra- and inter-day RSD were 6 ng mL(-1), 4.6%, 3.9% for 2-chlorophenol, 12 ng mL(-1), 2.4%, 8.8% for 2,4-dichlorophenol and 23 ng mL(-1), 3.3%, 5.3% for 2,6-dichlorophenol, respectively. The proposed method was successfully applied to determine chlorophenols in real aqueous samples. Good recoveries ranging from 84.6% to 100.7% were obtained. In addition, the extraction efficiency of our method and the conventional headspace liquid-phase microextraction were compared; the extraction efficiency of the former was about 21 times higher than that of the latter. The results demonstrated that the proposed method is a promising sample pretreatment approach, its advantages over the conventional headspace liquid-phase microextraction include simple setup, ease of operation, rapidness, sensitivity, precision and no cross-contamination. The method is very suitable for the analysis of trace volatile and semivolatile pollutants in real aqueous sample.  相似文献
