The graft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate onto silk fibers in aqueous solution with the use of manganese (IV) ions as initiator was investigated. The rate of grafting was determined by varying monomer, acidity of the medium, temperature, nature of silk, and the reaction medium. The graft yield increases significantly with increase of manganese (IV) concentration up to 15 meq/liter; with further increase of manganese (IV) concentration, the graft yield decreases. The effect of the increase of monomer concentration brings about a significant enhancement in the graft yield up to 7%, and with further increase of monomer concentration the graft yield decreases. The graft yield is considerably influenced by chemical modification prior to grafting. The effect of some inorganic salts and anionic surfactants on the rate of grafting has been investigated.  相似文献

The use of tetravalent cerium to initiate graft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate on to silk fibres has been investigated. The extent of grafting was determined while varying Ce(IV) and monomer concentrations, temperature and nature of the fibre. The graft yield increased on increasing Ce(IV) concentration up to 0.015 M and monomer concentration up to 0.469 M; thereafter it decreased. The effect of an inorganic salt (copper sulphate) on grafting has also been studied. Chemical modification of the silk prior to grafting noticeably affected graft yield.  相似文献

Abstract

The graft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate (MMA) onto mulberry silk fibers was studied in aqueous solution using the acetylacetonate oxovanadium (IV) complex. The rate of grafting was investigated by varying the concentration of the monomer and the complex, the acidity of the medium, the solvent composition of the reaction medium, the surfactants, and the inhibitors. The graft yield increases with increasing concentration of the initiator up to 8.75 × 10?5 mol/L, of the monomer up to 0.5634 mol/L, and thereafter it decreases. Among the various vinyl monomers studied, MMA was found to be most suitable for grafting. Grafting increases with increasing concentration of HCIO4 and with increasing temperature. Inhibitors like picryl chloride and hydroquinone significantly decrease the extent of grafting. Alcoholic solvents at a solvents/water ration of 10:90 seem to constitute the most favorable medium for grafting. A suitable reaction scheme has been proposed, and the activation energy calculated from the Arrhenius plots.  相似文献

The use of hexavalent chromium to initiate graft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate onto wool fibers has been investigated. The rate of grafting was determined by varying monomer, chromium(VI), temperature, acidity of the medium, nature of wool, reaction medium, and redox system. The graft yield increases with increasing monomer concentration up to 0.65M, and, with further increase of monomer the graft yield decreases. The graft yield increases with increasing chromium(VI) concentration. The grafting is considerably influenced by chemical modification of wool prior to grafting. The effect of certain inorganic salt and anionic surfactant on the rate of grafting has been investigated. Graft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate onto wool was investigated in aqueous solution using the potassium peroxy-diphosphate-thiourea redox system as the initiator. The rate of grafting was determined by varying the monomer, peroxydi-phosphate ion, temperature, and solvent. The graft yield increases with increasing peroxydiphosphate ion up to 80 × 10?-4 mol/L, and with further increase of peroxydiphosphate ion the graft yield decreases. The graft yield increases with increasing monomer concentration. The percentage of grafting decreases with increasing thiourea concentration. The rate of grafting increases with an increase of temperature. 研究了一缩二乙二醇二甲基丙烯酸酯在空气存在下,用过硫酸钾(KPS)在水液 中对真丝的接枝。对接枝的条件,如单体、引发剂、甲酸(FA)和乳化剂OP的浓度以 及温度和时间对接枝率的影响进行了测试。发现了较佳的接枝条件是:温度 = 80 ℃,时间 = 30 min,[KPS] = 1.85% (owm),[OP] = 1% (owf),[FA] = 0.2%。 接枝率的大小可以用单体浓度来调节,接枝活化能是86.94 kJ/mol。  相似文献

The graft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate onto natural rubber (NR) is investigated using potassium peroxydiphosphate as the initiator. The rate of grafting is determined by varying monomer concentration, peroxydiphosphate concentration, and temperature. The graft yield increased with an increase in monomer concentration up to 1.4082M/L and thereafter the graft yield decreases. The graft yield increases significantly with an increase of peroxydiphosphate concentration up to 150 X 10-1M/L and thereafter the graft yield decreases. The grafting reaction is temperature dependent. A suitable kinetic scheme is proposed and the rate equation is evaluated.  相似文献

The rate of grafting was determined by changing [monomerl], [thiourea], [initiator], acidity of the medium, reaction medium, and temperature. A significant increase percent of grafting was noticed with increasing monomer concentration to 84.49 × 10?2 mole/liter and the further increase is associated with the decrease of graft yield. The graft yield increases with an increase of thiourea (Tu) concentration to 25 × 10?5 mole/liter; then it decreases. A measurable increase in graft yield was observed with an increase in acidity of the medium. Graft yield increases to a certain temperature, i.e., 50°C, and then it decreases. The graft yield increases with an increase of initiator concentration to 60 × 10?4 mole/liter; then it decreases. The graft yield is medium dependent. 利用扫描电镜(SEM), 结合拉曼(Raman)光谱、 衰减全反射傅里叶变换红外(ATR-FTIR)光谱和X射线衍射(XRD)等方法研究了膨化型柞蚕丝的内部形态和结构, 表征了其热性能和力学性能. 结果表明, 虽然经过了相应的膨化处理, 柞蚕丝素蛋白分子链仍表现出具有高度取向的反平行β-折叠构象, 而其单丝是由许多带状微纤沿纤维轴平行组装而成, 且具有较高力学性能的纤维.  相似文献

The graft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate onto silk fibers initiated by the ferric chloride-eysteine redox system has been investigated in aqueous medium. The rate of grafting was calculated by varying the concentrations of monomer, initiator, acidity of the medium, cysteine, and temperature. The percentage of grafting increases with an increase of Fe3+ concentration up to 2,5 × 10?3 mol/L and thereafter it decreases. The graft yield increases steadily upon increasing the monomer concentration. The graft yield also increases with increasing cysteine concentration up to 0.5 × 10?3 mol/L and then decreases. Abstract

Graft copolymerization of methyl methacrylate onto nylon 6 was investigated in aqueous perchloric acid medium using thallium(III) ions as initiator. The rate of grafting was evaluated by varying the concentrations of monomer, initiator, acid, and temperature. The rate of grafting was found to increase with an increase of both monomer and initiator concentrations. The graft yield was found to increase with an increase in the acid concentration up to 0.49 mL?1, and beyond this concentration of perchloric acid the graft yield was found to decrease. It also increased with an increase of temperature. From the Arrhenius plot the overall activation energy was found to be 3.9 kcal/mol. The effects of inhibitors, various solvents, inorganic salts, and swelling agents on graft yield were studied. A suitable kinetic scheme has been proposed and a rate equation has been derived.  相似文献

This study concerns the radiation grafting of styrene onto poly(tetrafluoroethylene‐co‐perfluoropropylvinylether) (PFA) substrates and the penetration depth of the graft. Grafting was obtained by the simultaneous irradiation method, and the spectroscopic analysis was made with the micro‐Raman technique. Effects of grafting conditions such as the type of solvent, dose rate, and irradiation dose on the grafting yield were investigated. Of the different solvents used, the most efficient in terms of increasing grafting yield were dichloromethane, benzene, and methanol, respectively. A mixture of methanol and dichloromethane used as a solvent for styrene achieved a higher degree of grafting and concentration of grafted polystyrene onto the surface of PFA substrates than solutions of the monomer in the separate solvents. The degree of grafting increased with increasing radiation dose up to 500 kGy, stabilizing above this dose. However, the grafting yield decreased with an increase in the dose rate. The increase in the overall grafting yield was accompanied by a proportional increase in the penetration depth of the grafts into the substrate. © 2002 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Perchloric acid was found to catalyze the reaction. The rate of grafting was investigated by varying the concentration of the monomer and the complex, the acidity of the medium, and the solvent composition of the reaction medium. The graft yield increases with increasing concentration of the initiator and with increasing temperature. An increase of monomer concentration up to 0.5634 mol/L and of the HClO4 concentration up to 0.01 mol/L increases the graft yield. Reduced and oxidized wools were found to be better substrates than untreated, esterified, cross-linked, and trinitrophenylated wools. Among the various monomers studied, MMA was found to be the most active. A suitable kinetic scheme is proposed. From the activation energy data, average molecular weight, and spectral studies, the reactivity of -SH groups, and the extent of chain transfer is ascertained.  相似文献

The grafting of ethylene glycol dimethacrylate (EGDMA) onto silk in aqueous alcohol systems using potassiumpersulfate (KPS) in the presence of air was investigated. Effects of grafting conditions, such as concentrations of monomer,initiator and formic acid, temperature and time, on the graft yield were determined. The optimum graft conditions were foundto be: T = 80℃, t = 30 min, [KPS] = 1.85% [on the weight ofmonomer (owm)]; [formic acid] = 0.2% (V/V); [EGDMA] =80% [on the weight of fiber (owf)]. The activation energy of grafting at 50-80℃ was found to be 71.31 kJ/mol for EGDMA.Grafting equations were also evaluated. The graft yield value can be regulated by the concentration of monomer. The graftcopolymerization of EGDMA onto silk is effective in improving the crease-proofing of silk fabrics.  相似文献

Nylon 6 fiber was grafted with various vinyl monomers e.g., methyl methacrylate (MMA), ethyl methacrylate (EMA), and n-butyl methacrylate (n-BMA), in water in the presence of fructose using a carbon arc lamp as the source of photoirradiation at 70°C and a liquor ratio of 1:26. The effects of various parameters, e.g., monomer concentration, time of grafting, and fructose concentration on grafting reactions, were studied individually for each monomer. The graft yield is greatly enhanced by increasing the monomer concentration and the time of grafting. However, the optimum fructose concentration is required for maximum grafting efficiency. The accelerating action of photopolymerization by fructose was attributed to the sensitizing action of fructose involving an energy transfer.  相似文献

Direct radiation-induced grafting of aqueous acrylic acid (AAc) onto poly(tetrafluoroethylene-ethylene) (ET) film has been studied. The effect of grafting conditions such as monomer concentration, exposure dose, dose rate, and film thickness on the grafting yield was investigated. The dependence of the grafting rate on monomer concentration was found to be 1.2 order. The dependence of the grafting rate on dose rate was found to be 0.6 order regardless of the film thickness. The relationship between the grafting rate and film thickness gave a negative first-order dependence. The results suggest that the grafting process is mainly controlled by monomer diffusion, and it was concluded that this grafting system proceeded by the front mechanism. The swelling behavior increases linearly with degree of grafting. The electrical conductivity and mechanical properties for the trunk and grafted polymer were investigated at different irradiation doses in air and under vacuum irradiations. © 1992 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.  相似文献
