The behavior of internal waves in a vertically bounded channel differs considerably from the wave motion in an infinite stratified fluid. In [1] the phase structure of the internal waves in an exponentially stratified layer of fluid between rigid horizontal planes was experimentally and theoretically investigated. A characteristic feature of such a channel is the boundedness of the phase and group velocities of each mode. Below, the case of an exponentially stratified channel between layers of homogeneous unbounded fluid is considered. In conclusion, the authors wish to thank A. T. In the study of wave radiation by oscillators moving in a fluid considerable interest attaches to the question of the effect which the radiation has on the nature of the motion of the source. The main task here is to clarify the conditions under which the component of the radiation reaction force connected with the radiation of anomalous Doppler harmonics prevails over the component of the reaction force in the region in which normal Doppler frequencies are radiated. The latter results in a buildup in the oscillations of an oscillator moving in a dispersing medium [1, 2]. In the present study the authors obtain in the dipole approximation expressions for the reaction force of radiation (wave resistance) of a mass source of the oscillator type [2] when it excites surface waves in an incompressible fluid of finite depth, and internal waves in a smoothly stratified fluid. The thresholds are also found for the occurrence of radiation instability with respect to gravitational waves, and is found that with respect to internal waves radiation instability is nonthreshold in character in the Boussinesq approximation.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 1, pp. 168–171, January–February, 1986.The authors are grateful to, E. A general approach to the investigation of linear internal and surface waves in a stably stratified fluid, arising from different types of perturbations, is presented in [1]. The methods of calculation of the internal waves generated by the motion of a mass source are developed for particular cases of steady horizontal motion in a continuously stratified fluid in [2] and arbitrary motion in an unbounded exponentially stratified fluid in [3]. Internal waves generated by other types of perturbations have also been investigated but only for particular cases of motion (see, for example, [4]). This paper presents a method for the calculation of unsteady, linear, internal gravity waves arising in an inviscid incompressible fluid with continuous stable stratification.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 4, pp. 122–130, July–August, 1985.  相似文献

In [1, 2] a mathematical model of the motion of a fluid in a pipe whose axis is a curve in space was discussed and certain simplifications of the problem were studied. The propagation of linear and nonlinear waves in the framework of the model was studied. In the present paper we consider a simple wave flow in a pipe with elastic walls suing one of the models introduced in [1], which, unlike [2], takes into account axial displacements of the pipe. The basic equations describing the propagation of waves in the pipe are obtained.Translated from Zhurnal Prikladnoi Mekhaniki i Technicheskoi Fiziki, No. 3, pp. 58–63, May–June, 1986.  相似文献

The propagation of spherical waves in an isotropie elastic medium has been studied sufficiently completely (see, e.g., [1–4]). it is proved [5, 6] that in imperfect solid media, the formation and propagation of waves similar to waves in elastic media are possible. With the use of asymptotic transform inversion methods in [7] a problem of an internal point source in a viscoelastic medium was investigated. The problem of an explosion in rocks in a half-space was considered in [8]. A numerical Laplace transform inversion, proposed by Bellman, is presented in [9] for the study of the action of an explosive pulse on the surface of a spherical cavity in a viscoelastic medium of Voigt type. In the present study we investigate the propagation of a spherical wave formed from the action of a pulsed load on the internal surface of a spherical cavity in a viscoelastic half-space. The potentials of the waves propagating in the medium are constructed in the form of series in special functions. In order to realize viscoelasticity we use a correspondence method [10]. The transform inversion is carried out by means of a representation of the potentials in integral form and subsequent use of asymptotic methods for their calculation. Thus, it becomes possible to investigate the behavior of a medium near the wave fronts. The radial stress is calculated on the surface of the cavity.Translated from Zhurnal Prikladnoi Mekhaniki i Tekhnicheskoi Fiziki, No. 1, pp. 139–146, March–April, 1976.  相似文献

The results of an investigation to estimate the effect of surface and internal waves on the hydrodynamic characteristics are presented for the problem of the uniform motion of a vortex source in a three-layer fluid. The behavior of the lift force and wave drag is studied in the neighborhood of the critical Froude number. Some results of the numerical experiments are presented. An analogous investigation is also carried out for the motion in a two-layer fluid beneath a rigid top and in the presence of a bottom.Omsk. The problem of controlling the internal waves inside a closed rectangular cavity filled with a heavy two-layer fluid is considered in the linear approximation. The fluid is assumed to be stably stratified, ideal, and incompressible. The controlling horizontal force is applied to the body containing the cavity. It is assumed that at the initial moment there are no oscillations of the fluid and the interface is horizontal. The problem is to bring the vessel as a whole into a prescribed state of linear motion without relative wave motion of the fluid. The Cauchy-Poisson problem and the self-consistent integro-differential equation of the vessel motion are solved using the Fourier method and taking into account the reaction of the internal waves. On the basis of an analysis of the corresponding generalized momentum problem, approaches are proposed for solving the problem of control. It is shown that a control action with a sufficiently high order of Steklov smoothness ensures the approximate solution of the control problem with the required accuracy for all the characteristics of the motion of the hybrid oscillating system under consideration.Translated from Izvestiya Rossiiskoi Akademii Nauk, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 3, pp. 11–22, May–June, 1995.The study was performed with financial support from the Russian Foundation for Fundamental Research (project No. 94-01-01368).  相似文献

The propagation of solitary waves is investigated on the basis of a nonlinear system of equations of hyperbolic type describing the motion of the crest of a solitary wave over the surface of a liquid of variable depth [1]. The existence of solutions with discontinuities, the boundary conditions at which are introduced on the basis of [2, 3], is assumed. In the case of an infinite cylindrical ridge both solitary and periodic captured waves are found. Depending upon the height of the ridge and the parameters of the wave, the encounter between a uniform wave and a semi-infinite ridge yields qualitatively different solutions — continuous and discontinuous, where the primary wave is broken down by the ridge into several solitary waves. The amplitude of the wave may either increase or decrease over the ridge.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 1, pp. 36–93, January–February, 1985.The author is grateful to A. A study is made in the linear formulation of the influence of a uniformly compressed floating elastic plate on the unsteady three-dimensional wave motion of a homogeneous fluid of finite depth. Waves are excited by a region of normal stresses which moves on the surface of the plate. Three-dimensional flexural-gravity waves were studied in [1, 2] without allowance for compressing forces. Plane waves under conditions of longitudinal compression were considered in [3, 4].Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 6, pp. 78–83, November–December, 1984.  相似文献

A theoretical investigation is made into the development of linear internal waves in an exponentially stratified flow of an ideal incompressible fluid in the Boussinesq approximation. The waves are generated by an arbitrarily moving point mass source. The obtained solution is used to investigate three special cases of motion: uniform motion at an angle to the horizontal, nonstationary motion during a finite interval of time, and uniform motion in a circular path. The method of solution of this problem is similar to that used by Wolfe and Lewis [1], who studied the generation of acoustic waves.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 3, pp. 67–74, May–June, 1980.I thank V. A study is made of the influence of an underwater ridge on a solitary wave that prior to the interaction with the ridge has the form of a circle situated outside the ridge. It is shown that the nonlinear effects lead to a concentration of the wave energy above the ridge. As they move away from the source, the waves propagating above the ridge are not damped in the considered approximation but are damped everywhere away from the ridge. An analogy is pointed out between the propagation of the wave and two-dimensional steady flows of a fluid, and this makes it possible to use hydrodynamic intuition for qualitative predictions about the nature of the wave propagation in various cases. All the results of the paper can be extended to the case of waves that are periodic in time.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 4, pp. 100–105, July–August, 1982.  相似文献

The propagation of linear and nonlinear internal waves along the interface between two weakly conducting media differing in density and electrical conductivity is investigated and the influence of MHD interaction effects on their characteristics is analyzed. It is shown that in this system the waves propagate with dispersion and dissipation, and for harmonic waves of infinitesimal amplitude there exists a range of wave numbers on which propagating modes do not exist. For waves of finite amplitude a nonlinear Schrödinger equation with a dissipative perturbation is obtained and its asymptotic solution is found. It is established that the presence of electrical conductivity and an applied magnetic field leads to a decrease in the amplitude and the frequency of the envelope of the wave train.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 5, pp. 104–108, September–October, 1990.  相似文献

The propagation and stability of nonlinear waves in a viscous compressible fluid with relaxation that satisfies a Theological equation of state of Oldroyd type are investigated. An equation that describes the structure of the wave perturbations and its evolution is derived subject to the condition of balance of the nonlinear dissipative and relaxation effects, and its solutions of the solitary wave type are analyzed.Translated from Izvestiya Rossiiskoi Akademii Nauk, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 3, pp. 31–35, May–June, 1993.  相似文献

The properties are studied of the propagation of unsteady shock waves in a gas-liquid system of bubble structure in the case when the volume concentration of the gas changes in the direction of motion of the shock wave. It is established that when there is a sufficiently rapid drop in the gas content, an effect of amplification of the shock wave is observed which is due to the deceleration of the medium behind the shock wave. A study is made of the laws of the evolution of long- and short-wave pulsed perturbations in such systems. The authors consider processes of reflection of waves from obstacles and their passage from a gas into a bubble liquid, from a two-phase mixture into a pure liquid. The contribution is determined of nonequilibrium effects to the process of amplification of a wave.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 1, pp. 49–54, January–February, 1988.The authors wish to express gratitude to R. The model of a concentrated two-phase medium constructed in [1–3] with allowance for the random small-scale motion of the dispersed phase due to particle interaction is used for analyzing steady particle concentration waves and dispersion effects in the case of negligibly small rates of generation and dissipation of the energy of small-scale motion. The propagation of one-dimensional disturbances in a direction parallel or antiparallel to the force of gravity is investigated. The structure of the steady wave front is found and the conditions of formation of internal concentration discontinuities at the front are determined. Dispersion effects are investigated for weakly nonlinear waves. The results can be used for analyzing wave phenomena in a gas-fluidized bed, a falling bed, pneumatic transport and fast fluidization systems, etc. The model proposed in [1–3] was developed in [4] in order to investigate steady waves and dispersion effects at high rates of generation and dissipation of the energy of small-scale motion of the dispersed phase and in [5] in order to analyze the propagation of particle concentration discontinuities for finite rates of generation and dissipation of the energy of random motion and linear stability in the presence of weak particle interaction.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 1, pp. 42–48, January–February, 1990.  相似文献

The results of a theoretical and experimental investigation of the phase structure of three-dimensional internal waves in a horizontal channel occupied by an exponentially stratified fluid are presented. The stationary internal waves excited by a source moving uniformly along the bottom of a channel with rigid covers are considered. A dispersion relation, on the basis of which the phase structure of the internal waves in the far zone is investigated, is obtained within the context of the linear theory. The dependence of the boundary of the region of wave disturbances on the internal Froude number F is found. The equation of the lines of constant phase is obtained in the first approximation for large F. By means of an IAB-451 shadowgraph instrument, using the dark field method with vertical illumination, the phase patterns of the internal waves are obtained. The angles of the wave disturbance zone are measured in the region of relatively large F. Similarity of the phase patterns for the first three-dimensional mode is obtained experimentally for large F.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 1, pp. 129–135, January–February, 1989.The authors wish to thank A. Whitham [1] has proposed a method of approximate calculation of the motion of shock fronts giving results in fairly good agreement with the experiments when one considers various nonstationary problems of the interaction of shock waves with one another and solid surfaces. However, the method gives rise to fundmental difficulties when one considers the propagation of shock waves in a moving medium [1, 2]. In the present paper, the method is generalized to the case of a gas which is moving nonuniformly in front of the shock wave, no restrictions being made on the nature of the motion or the variation of its parameters.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 1, pp. 175–178, January–February, 1981.I thank M. The propagation of small perturbations in raulticomponent disperse media consisting of an uncharged dispersion fluid, positive and negative ions and charged particles or droplets of another fluid is investigated. When weak waves pass through emulsions and suspensions, because of the difference in the velocities of the ions and charged particles a non-uniform distribution of electric potential develops in the medium [1–3]. Expressions relating the amplitude of the electric potential and the amplitude of the fluid velocity in the wave, the particle charge and the parameters characterizing the medium are derived. Relations are obtained for the phase shift between the values of the electric potential and the fluid velocity. It is proposed to use the expressions obtained, which describe the propagation of ultrasound, for the experimental determination of the particle charge and other parameters of the disperse medium, in particular, the particle size.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 1, pp. 122–128, January–February, 1988.  相似文献

The propagation of internal waves plays an important role in liquid media with layers that vary according to density (stratified liquids) and are located in a gravitational field, which include the Earth's atmosphere and oceans. Highly controlled experiments are essential for investigating efficient generators of internal waves (in particular, harmonic internal waves). Hence, it is important to compare the efficiences of various types of internal wave generators. This problem is considered for the simplest forms of stratification: discontinuous and uniform (with a constant buoyancy frequency N). Although there are very few studies of oscillations in the case of discontinuous stratification, there are even fewer investigations of uniform stratification (e.g., see [1–4]). A comparison of the efficiences of different types of generators has not been made for the latter case. This is done below on the basis of energy estimates for two types of generators: for objects (a sphere or cylinder) that undergo small harmonic oscillations in a liquid and for objects with pulsating volumes.Translated from Zhurnal Prikladnoi Mekhaniki i Tekhnicheskoi Fiziki, No. 4, pp. 53–59, July–August, 1986.  相似文献

The propagation of long weakly nonlinear waves in an atmospheric waveguide is considered. A model system of Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equations [1], which describes the propagation of such waves, is derived. In the case of one excited wave mode the system of model equations goes over into the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation, in which, however, the variables x and t are interchanged. The reasons for this are clarified. In the two-dimensional case an approximate solution of the model equations is constructed, and steady nonlinear waves and their interaction in a collision are considered. The results of a numerical verification of the stability of the approximate steady solutions and of the solution to the problem of decay of the wave into quasisolitons are given.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 3, pp. 151–157, May–June, 1988.  相似文献
