The complete classification of homogeneous three spaces is well known for some time. Of special interest are those with rigidity four which appear as Riemannian submersions with geodesic fibres over surfaces with constant curvature. Consequently their geometries are completely encoded in two values, the constant curvature, c, of the base space and the so called bundle curvature, r. In this paper, we obtain the complete classification of equivariant Willmore surfaces in homogeneous three spaces with rigidity four. All these surfaces appear by lifting elastic curves of the base space. Once more, the qualitative behaviour of these surfaces is encoded in the above mentioned parameters (c,r). The case where the fibres are compact is obtained as a special case of a more general result that works, via the principle of symmetric criticality, for bundle-like conformal structures in circle bundles. However, if the fibres are not compact, a different approach is necessary. We compute the differential equation satisfied by the equivariant Willmore surfaces in conformal homogeneous spaces with rigidity of order four and then we reduce directly the symmetry to obtain the Euler Lagrange equation of 4r2-elasticae in surfaces with constant curvature, c. We also work out the solving natural equations and the closed curve problem for elasticae in surfaces with constant curvature. It allows us to give explicit parametrizations of Willmore surfaces and Willmore tori in those conformal homogeneous 3-spaces. 相似文献

In this paper we study equivariant constrained Willmore tori in the 3-sphere. These tori admit a 1-parameter group of Möbius symmetries and are critical points of the Willmore energy under conformal variations. We show that the spectral curve associated to an equivariant torus is given by a double covering of \(\mathbb {C}\) and classify equivariant constrained Willmore tori by the genus \(g\) of their spectral curve. In this case the spectral genus satisfies \(g \le 3\) . 相似文献

It has been recently shown by Abresch and Rosenberg that a certain Hopf differential is holomorphic on every constant mean curvature surface in a Riemannian homogeneous 3-manifold with isometry group of dimension 4. In this paper we describe all the surfaces with holomorphic Hopf differential in the homogeneous 3-manifolds isometric to H2×R or having isometry group isomorphic either to the one of the universal cover of PSL(2,R), or to the one of a certain class of Berger spheres. It turns out that, except for the case of these Berger spheres, there exist some exceptional surfaces with holomorphic Hopf differential and non-constant mean curvature. 相似文献

Let be an irreducible 3-manifold with a torus boundary component , and suppose that are the boundary slopes on of essential punctured tori in , with their boundaries on . We show that the intersection number of and is at most . Moreover, apart from exactly four explicit manifolds , which contain pairs of essential punctured tori realizing and 6 respectively, we have . It follows immediately that if is atoroidal, while the manifolds obtained by - and -Dehn filling on are toroidal, then , and unless is one of the four examples mentioned above.
Let be the class of 3-manifolds such that is irreducible, atoroidal, and not a Seifert fibre space. By considering spheres, disks and annuli in addition to tori, we prove the following. Suppose that , where has a torus component , and . Let be slopes on such that . Then . The exterior of the Whitehead sister link shows that this bound is best possible.

This paper studies invariants of 3-manifolds derived from finite dimensional Hopf algebras. The invariants are based on right integrals for the Hopf algebras. In fact, it is shown that the defining property of the right integral is an algebraic translation of a necessary condition for invariance under handle slides in the Kirby calculus. The resulting class of invariants is distinct from the class of Witten-Reshetikhin-Turaev invariants. 相似文献

Let R13 be the Lorentzian 3-space with inner product (, ). Let Q3 be the conformal compactification of R13, obtained by attaching a light-cone C∞ to R13 in infinity. Then Q3 has a standard conformal Lorentzian structure with the conformal transformation group O(3,2)/{±1}. In this paper, we study local conformal invariants of time-like surfaces in Q3 and dual theorem for Willmore surfaces in Q3. Let M (?) R13 be a time-like surface. Let n be the unit normal and H the mean curvature of the surface M. For any p ∈ M we define S12(p) = {X ∈ R13 (X - c(P),X - c(p)) = 1/H(p)2} with c(p) = P 1/H(p)n(P) ∈ R13. Then S12 (p) is a one-sheet-hyperboloid in R3, which has the same tangent plane and mean curvature as M at the point p. We show that the family {S12(p),p ∈ M} of hyperboloid in R13 defines in general two different enveloping surfaces, one is M itself, another is denoted by M (may be degenerate), and called the associated surface of M. We show that (i) if M is a time-like Willmore surface in Q3 with non-degenerate associated surface M, then M is also a time-like Willmore surface in Q3 satisfying M = M; (ii) if M is a single point, then M is conformally equivalent to a minimal surface in R13. 相似文献

Otsuki tori in the three-dimensional unit sphere are studied. From calculations of the Willmore energy, the lower and upper bound estimates for the Otsuki tori are established. Invariance of the Otsuki tori under antipodal maps is also considered and, in such cases, better lower bound estimates of their Willmore energies are obtained. 相似文献

We consider 3-dimensional anti-de Sitter manifolds with conical singularities along time-like lines, which is what in the
physics literature is known as manifolds with particles. We show that the space of such cone-manifolds is parametrized by
the cotangent bundle of Teichmüller space, and that moreover such cone-manifolds have a canonical foliation by space-like
surfaces. We extend these results to de Sitter and Minkowski cone-manifolds, as well as to some related “quasifuchsian” hyperbolic
manifolds with conical singularities along infinite lines, in this later case under the condition that they contain a minimal
surface with principal curvatures less than 1. In the hyperbolic case the space of such cone-manifolds turns out to be parametrized
by an open subset in the cotangent bundle of Teichmüller space. For all settings, the symplectic form on the moduli space
of 3-manifolds that comes from parameterization by the cotangent bundle of Teichmüller space is the same as the 3-dimensional
gravity one. The proofs use minimal (or maximal, or CMC) surfaces, along with some results of Mess on AdS manifolds, which
are recovered here in a different way, using differential-geometric methods and a result of Labourie on some mappings between
hyperbolic surfaces, that allows an extension to cone-manifolds.

J. H. Rubinstein introduced the theory of almost normal surfaces to solve several homeomorphism problems for 3-manifolds. A. Thompson simplified Rubinstein's algorithm for recognizing the 3-sphere by using almost normal surface theory and thin position. This paper discusses higher genus analogues to A. Thompson's work.

Let M be a compact connected orientable 3-manifold, with non-empty boundary that contains no two-spheres. We investigate the existence of two properly embedded disjoint surfaces $S_{1}$ and $S_{2}$ such that $M - (S_{1} \cup S_{2})$ is connected. We show that there exist two such surfaces if and only if M is neither a $\mathbb Z _{2}$ homology solid torus nor a $\mathbb Z _{2}$ homology cobordism between two tori. In particular, the exterior of a link with at least three components always contains two such surfaces. The proof mainly uses techniques from the theory of groups, both discrete and profinite. 相似文献
