A new chelating polymeric sorbent is developed using Merrifield chloromethylated resin anchored with calix[4]arene-o-vanillinsemicarbazone for simultaneous separation and solid phase extractive preconcentration of U(VI) and Th(IV). The “upper-rim” functionalized calix[4]arene-o-vanillinsemicarbazone was covalently linked to Merrifield resin and characterized by FT-IR and elemental analysis. The synthesized chelating polymeric sorbent shows superior binding affinity towards U(VI) and Th(IV) under selective pH conditions. Various physico-chemical parameters that influence the quantitative extraction of metal ions were optimized. The optimum pH range and flow rates for U(VI) and Th(IV) were 6.0-7.0 and 1.0-4.0 ml min−1 and 3.5-4.5 and 1.5-4.0 ml min−1, respectively. The total sorption capacity found for U(VI) and Th(IV) was 48734 and 41175 μg g−1, respectively. Interference studies carried out in the presence of diverse ions and electrolyte species showed quantitative analyte recovery (98-98.5%) with lower limits of detection, 6.14 and 4.29 μg l−1 and high preconcentration factors, 143 and 153 for U(VI) and Th(IV), respectively. The uptake and stripping of these metal ions on the resin were fast, indicating a better accessibility of the metal ions towards the chelating sites. The analytical applicability of the synthesized polymeric sorbent was tested with some synthetic mixtures for the separation of U(VI) and Th(IV) from each other and also from La(III), Cu(II) and Pb(II) by varying the pH and sequential acidic elution. The validity of the proposed method was checked by analyzing these metal ions in natural water samples, monazite sand and standard geological materials.  相似文献

The complexes of the reagent 5-Br-PADAP with the metal ions La(III), Ce(III), and Y(III) have been studied. The composition and stability of these complexes have been determined. A sensitive spectrophotometric procedure for the determination of the metal ions La(III), Ce(III), and Y(III) has been proposed. The limitations of this procedure and the effect of other ions have been studied.  相似文献

In the present study, a nanocomposite consisting of magnetic reduced graphene oxide decorated with thioglycolic-acid-capped CdTe quantum dots (TGA/CdTe QDs/Fe3O4/rGO) was synthesised using simple ‘hydrothermal method’ and applied as a nanosorbent for extraction and preconcentration of cerium (Ce)(III) from aqueous solutions prior to inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectroscopy detection. Under the optimised extraction conditions, the calibration graph for Ce(III) was linear in a concentration range of 0.1–511.0 μg L?1 with a correlation coefficient of 0.9986. A detection limit of 0.1 μg L?1 Ce(III) with an enrichment factor of 125 was obtained. Precisions, expressed as relative standard deviation for single-sorbent repeatability and sorbent-to-sorbent reproducibility, were 3.6% and 9.1% (n = 5), respectively. Finally, spiked sea, mineral and tap waters were analysed to evaluate the performance of the proposed method. The high recoveries indicated that the suggested protocol was acceptable for determination of Ce(III) ions in the water samples. The use of QDs and study of their ability for preconcentration of metal ions is an important achievement towards designing novel adsorbents with high efficiency.  相似文献

The use of water-soluble calixarenes: p-sulfonato thiacalixarene (ST), tetra-sulfonatomethylated calix[4]resorcinarene (SR), calix[4]resorcinarene phosphonic acid (PhR) as chelating agents in cloud point extraction (CPE) of La(III), Gd(III) and Yb(III) ions using Triton X-100 as non-ionic surfactant is introduced. The data obtained indicate that both complexation ability and structure of calixarenes govern the extraction efficiency of lanthanides. In particular ST and SR, forming 1:1 lanthanide complexes with similar stability in aqueous media, exhibit different extractability when used as chelating agents in CPE. First synthesized PhR was found to be the most efficient chelating agent exhibiting pH-dependent selectivity within La(III), Gd(III) and Yb(III) in CPE.  相似文献

Coriolus versicolor, a wood fungus, was immobilised on Amberlite XAD-4 and used as solid-phase biosorbent for preconcentrations of rare earth elements. La(III), Th(IV), U(IV) and Ce(III) were subjected to solid-phase extraction procedure. We observed that La(III) was selectively preconcentrated, while other ions remained in solution at pH 6.0. 5.0 mL of 1.0 mol L?1 HCl was used to elaute La(III) from column. 250 mg of C. versicolor loaded on 1000 mg of XAD-4 was optimised as solid-phase matrix. Concentrations of ions in solutions were determined by inductively coupled plasma– optical emission spectrometry (ICP-OES). The calibration plot after preconcentration was linear in the range from 1.0 to 50.0 ng mL?1 for La(III). Limit of detection was found as 0.27 ng mL?1 for La(III) by SPE method. Relative standard deviation was found lower than 6.7% for 1.0 ng mL?1 of La(III) solution (n = 10). The sensitivity of ICP-OES was improved by a factor of 46.8. The applicability of the method was validated through the analysis of certified reference samples of tea (NCS ZC-73014) and spinach (NCS ZC-73013).  相似文献

Two novel azocalix[4]pyrrole Amberlite XAD-2 polymeric chelating resins were synthesized by covalently linking diazotized Amberlite XAD-2 with calix[4]pyrrole macrocycles. The chelating resins were used for extraction, preconcentration and sequential separation of metal ions such as Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) by column chromatography prior to their determination by UV/vis spectrophotometry or flame atomic absorption spectrophotometry (FAAS) or inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectroscopy (ICP-AES). Various parameters such as effect of pH on absorption, concentration of eluting agents, flow rate, total sorption capacity, exchange kinetics, preconcentration factor, distribution coefficient, breakthrough capacity and resin stability, were optimized for effective separation and preconcentration. The resin showed good ability for the separation of metal ions from binary and ternary mixture on the basis of pH of absorption and concentration of eluting agents. The newly synthesized resins showed good potential for trace enrichment of Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) metal ions, especially for Cu(II), as compared to the earlier reported resins. The synthesized resins were recycled at least 8-10 times without much affecting column sorption capacity. The presented method was successfully applied for determination of Cu(II), Zn(II) and Cd(II) in natural and ground water samples.  相似文献

The feasibility of using a macroporous strongly acidic cation exchange resin (SQS-6) as an adsorbent for lanthanum(III) and neodymium(III) from phosphoric acid medium, >4.0 M, was administered using batch and column techniques. Different parameters affecting the sorption of these metal ions such as v/m ratio, acid concentration and the metal ion concentration were separately investigated. The results indicated that the sorption process is relatively fast, reaching equilibrium state within 10 min. Influence of temperature on the equilibrium distribution values was also studied to evaluate the changes in standard thermodynamic quantities where the results indicated that the sorption is endothermic and the process is spontaneous associated with increasing the randomness of the system. The adsorption results of the studied metal ions were found to obey Langmuir isotherm model over the entire studied concentration range. The recovery of La(III) and Nd(III) from the loaded resin was performed with 1.0 M citric acid at pH 4.0. The breakthrough capacity of La(III) and Nd(III) was found to be 33.55 and 17.30 mg/g, respectively. The experimental data resulting from column technique were followed Thomas and Yoon-Nelson models.

Ga(III), In(III) and Tl(III) ions in the presence of different sulfate salts have been successfully separated using 1-(3,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde)-2-acetylpyridiniumchloride hydrazone (DAPCH) loaded on Duolite C20 in batch and column modes. The obtained modified resin as well as the metal complexes was characterized by elemental analysis and infrared spectra. The extraction isotherms were determined at different pH values. Ga(III) and In(III) are sorbed from aqueous solution at pH 2.5 - 3.0 while Tl(III) is sorbed at 2.0. The stripping of the adsorbed ions can be carried out using different concentrations of HCl as eluent. The saturation sorption capacities of Ga(III), In(III) and Tl(III) were 0.82, 0.96 and 0.44 mmol g(-1), where the preconcentration factors are 150, 150 and 100, respectively. The metal(III):Duolite C20-DAPCH ratio was 1:2 for Tl(III) and 1:1 for In(III) and Ga(III). The loaded resin can be regenerated for at least 50 cycles. The utility of the modified resin was tested in aqueous samples and the results show an RSD value of < 5% reflecting their accuracy and reproducibility.  相似文献

A new class of polymeric resin has been synthesized by grafting Merrifield chloromethylated resin with (dimethyl amino-phosphono-methyl)-phosphonic acid (MCM-DAPPA), for the preconcentration of U(VI), Th(IV) and La(III) from both acidic wastes and environmental samples. The various chemical modification steps involved during grafting process are characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, 31P and 13C-CPMAS (cross-polarized magic angle spin) NMR spectroscopy and CHNS/O elemental analysis. The water regain capacity data for the grafted polymer are obtained from thermo-gravimetric (TG) analysis. The influence of various physico-chemical parameters during the quantitative extraction of metal ions by the resin phase are studied and optimized by both static and dynamic methods. The significant feature of this grafted polymer is its ability to extract both actinides and lanthanides from high-level acidities as well as from near neutral conditions. The resin shows very high sorption capacity values of 2.02, 0.89 and 0.54 mmol g−1 for U(VI), 1.98, 0.63 and 0.42 mmol g−1 for Th(IV) and 1.22, 0.39 and 0.39 mmol g−1 for La(III) under optimum pH, HNO3 and HCl concentration, respectively. The grafted polymer shows faster phase exchange kinetics (<5 min is sufficient for 50% extraction) and greater preconcentration ability, with reusability exceeding 20 cycles. During desorption process, all the analyte ions are quantitatively eluted from the resin phase with >99.5% recovery using 1 M (NH4)2CO3, as eluent. The developed grafted resin has been successfully applied in extracting Th(IV) from high matrix monazite sand, U(VI) from sea water and also U(VI) and Th(IV) from simulated nuclear spent fuel mixtures. The analytical data obtained from triplicate measurements are within 3.9% R.S.D. reflecting the reproducibility and reliability of the developed method.  相似文献

Different diglycolamide (DGA)-substituted calix[4]arene-based extractants were synthesized and evaluated for the extraction of Am(III) and Eu(III), representative trivalent actinide and lanthanide ions, respectively. On the narrow rim of the calix[4]arene platform, the DGA moiety was either 1,3-di- or tetrasubstituted with a varying spacer length between the oxygen and amide nitrogen atom. In addition, DGA groups were appended both to the wide rim and to both rims of calix[4]arenes and their efficiencies were compared for Am(III) and Eu(III) extraction at three different feed acidities. The extraction and separation efficiencies strongly depended on the N-alkyl substituent as well as the spacer length. 1,3-Di-DGA-substituted calix[4]arenes are inferior extractants to the corresponding tetra-DGA-substituted ones. Narrow rim DGA-functionalized derivatives resulted in high extraction efficiencies, while the wide rim DGA-functionalized calix[4]arenes showed practically no extraction.  相似文献

A very stable calixarene-based polymeric chelating resin has been synthesized by covalently linking calix[4]arene-o-vanillinthiosemicarbazone through its lower rim to Merrifield resin. It was characterized by FT IR, 1H NMR and elemental analysis. The resin was efficiently employed to separate and preconcentrate toxic metal ions such as Cu(II), Cd(II) and Pb(II) in a column prior to their determination by UV-Vis spectrophotometry and atomic absorption spectrophotometry (GFAAS) with a relative standard deviation ranging between 1.0–1.4%. Various physico-chemical parameters such as pH, concentration of eluting agents, flow rate, total sorption capacity, metal-ligand stoichiometry, exchange kinetics, preconcentration factor, distribution coefficient, breakthrough capacity, resin stability, effect of electrolytes and associated metal ions have been studied. Uptake and stripping of these metal ions on the resin were fast, indicating better access of the metal ions to the chelating sites. Detection limits (3B) of 4.22µgL–1, 11.89µgL–1 and 19.61µgL–1, along with preconcentration factors of 100, 125 and 111 for Cu(II), Cd(II) and Pb(II), respectively, were achieved. The proposed method was successfully applied to the separation and trace determination of Cu(II), Cd(II) and Pb(II) from natural water samples of Ahmedabad city.  相似文献

This research is dedicated to the study of analytical application of poly[dibenzo-18-crown-6] for separation of Nd(III) from possible lanthanides, actinides and other metal ions. A simple and efficient column chromatographic method has been developed using poly [dibenzo-18-crown-6] as stationary phase and hippuric acid as a counter ion. The capacity of crown polymer for Nd(III) was found to be 0.55 ± 0.01 mmol/g. Nd(III) was quantitatively separated from Ce(III), U(VI) and other elements in binary as well as multicomponent mixtures. Separation yields were good and reproducible (±2 %). This method has important application for separation of Nd(III) from Ce(III) rapidly and selectively.  相似文献

The octakis(DMSO) (DMSO = dimethylsulfoxide) neodymium(III), samarium(III), gadolinium(III), dysprosium(III), erbium(III), and lutetium(III) iodides crystallize in the monoclinic space group P21/n (No. 14) with Z = 4, while the octakis(DMSO) iodides of the larger lanthanum(III), cerium(III), and praseodymium(III) ions crystallize in the orthorhombic space group Pbca (No. 61), Z = 8. In all [Ln(OS(Me2)8]I3 compounds the lanthanoid(III) ions coordinate eight DMSO oxygen atoms in a distorted square antiprism. Up to three of the DMSO ligands were found to be disordered and were described by two alternative configurations related by a twist around the metal-oxygen (Ln-O) bond. To resolve the atomic positions and achieve reliable Ln-O bond distances, complete semirigid DMSO molecules with restrained geometry and partial occupancy were refined for the alternative sites. This disorder model was also applied on previously collected data for the monoclinic octakis(DMSO)yttrium(III) iodide. At ambient temperature, the eight Ln-O bond distances are distributed over a range of about 0.1 A. The average value increases from Ln-O 2.30, 2.34, 2.34, 2.36, 2.38, 2.40 to 2.43 A (Ln = Lu, Er, Y, Dy, Gd, Sm, and Nd) for the monoclinic [Ln(OSMe2)8]I3 structures, and from 2.44, 2.47 to 2.49 A (Ln = Pr, Ce, and La) for the orthorhombic structures, respectively. The average of the La-O and Nd-O bond distances remained unchanged at 100 K, 2.49 and 2.43 A, respectively. Despite longer bond distances and larger Ln-O-S angles, the cell volumes are smaller for the orthorhombic structures (Ln = Pr, Ce, and La) than for the monoclinic structure with Ln = Nd, showing a more efficient packing arrangement. Raman and IR absorption spectra for the [Ln(OS(CH3)2)8]I3 (Ln = La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Gd, Tb, Dy, Er, Lu, and Y) compounds, also deuterated for La and Y, have been recorded and analyzed by means of normal coordinate methods. The force constants for the Ln-O and S-O stretching modes in the complexes increase with decreasing Ln-O bond distance and show increasing polarization of the bonds for the smaller and heavier lanthanoid(III) ions.  相似文献

The complexing properties (capacity, pH effect, breakthrough curve) of a chelating resin, containing bicine ligands, were investigated for La(III), Nd(III), Tb(III), Th(IV) and U(VI). Trace amounts of these metal ions were quantitatively retained on the resin and recovered by eluting with 1 M hydrochloric acid. The capacity of the resin for La(III), Nd(III), Tb(III), Th(IV) and U(VI) was found to be 0.35, 0.40, 0.42, 0.25 and 0.38 mmol g(-1), respectively. Separation of U(VI) and Th(IV) from Ni(II), Zn(II), Co(II) and Cu(II) in a synthetic solution was carried out.  相似文献

A carbon paste electrode modified with chelating resin (ammino-isopropylmercaptan-type cross-linked chelating resins) for the voltammetric determination of gold(III) was characterized by cyclic voltammetry. The gold(III) ion is accumulated on the surface of the modified electrode only by the chelating effect of the modifier in the carbon paste, without application of a potential. After exchange of the medium the accumulated amount of gold(III) is determined by voltammetry in a blank electrolyte solution. The response depends on both the concentration of gold and the accumulation time. For a 5-min preconcentration time, a linear calibration graph was obtained in the range 3 × 10?8-1 × 10?6 M and the detection limit was about 1 × 10?8 M. A combination of chemical and electrochemical renewal allows the use of a single modified electrode in multiple analytical determinations over several days. For ten preconcentration—determination—renewal cycles [2 × 10?7 M Au(III)], the response could be reproduced with 4.7% relative standard deviation. Many parameters such as the composition of the paste and pH influence the response of the measurement. Many other metal ions have no or little effect on the determination of gold. The procedure was applied to the determination of gold in minerals, copper and anode mud, with good results.  相似文献

Equilibrium studies for the heavy metal ions La(III), Ce(III), Th(IV) and UO2(IV) (M) complexes of the zwitterionic buffer tricine (L) in aqueous solution are investigated. Stoichiometry and stability constants for the different complexes formed as well as hydrolysis products of the metal cations are determined at 25 degrees C and ionic strength 0.1 M NaNO3. The stability of the formed complexes are discussed in terms of the nature of the heavy metal cation. The solid complexes are synthesized and characterized by means of elemental analysis, FTIR, and TG analysis. The general molecular formulae of the obtained complexes is suggested to be [M(L)2](NO3)n-2(H2O)x, where n = the charge of the metal cation, x = no. of water molecules.  相似文献

The synthesis and characterisation of the first neutral cerium dialkyl dithiocarbamate complexes, using a novel oxidative displacement of the amido ligands of [Ce[N(SiMe3)2]3] by tetraalkylthiuram disulfides [R2NC(S)S]2(R = Me, Et) in thf solution, are reported. In the absence of other donors, the complexes [Ce(kappa2-S2CNMe2)3(thf)2] and Ce(kappa2-S2CNEt2)3) 3 were obtained. The addition of a polypyridyl ligand allowed easy access to a range of complexes of general formula [Ce(kappa2-S2CNR2)3(L[intersection]L)][R = Me and L([intersection])L = 2,2'-bipy (4), or 4,7-diphenyl-1,10-phenanthroline (6); or R = Et and L[intersection]L = 2,2'-bipy (5)]. Brief exposure of the Ce(III) dithiocarbamate to oxygen gas afforded in high yield the diamagnetic, crystalline Ce(IV) dithiocarbamate [Ce(kappa2-S2CNEt2)4)] 7. The neodymium (8) and terbium (10) complexes, isoleptic with 2, were prepared from the appropriate 4f metal (Ln) bis(trimethylsilyl)amide [Ln[pN(SiMe3)2]3][Ln = Nd or Tb (9)] and [Me2NC(S)S]2. The structures of the crystalline complexes, 2, 4, 6, 7, 9 and 10 have been determined by X-ray crystallography. Some evidence has been obtained for the formation of the cerium(IV) complex Ce[N(SiMe3)2]2(kappa2-S2CNMe2)2. The cerium(IV) complex 7 has the metal coordinated to eight sulfur atoms of four planar chelating S2CNC2 moities and its geometry is intermediate between dodecahedral and square prismatic; the mean Ce-S bond length of 2.803 A in 7 compares with the 2.950 A in the Ce(III) complex 2.  相似文献

A method is described for the quantitative preconcentration and separation of trace chromium in water by adsorption on melamine-urea-formaldehyde resin. Cr(VI) is enriched from aqueous solutions on the resin. After elution the Cr(VI) is determined by FAAS. The capacity of the resin is maximal at ∼ pH 2. Total chromium can be determined by the method after oxidation of Cr(III) to Cr(VI) by hydrogen peroxide. The relative standard deviations (10 replicate analyses) for 10 mg/L levels of Cr(VI), Cr(III) and total chromium were 1.5, 3.5 and 2.8% respectively. The procedure has been applied to the determination and speciation of chromium in lake water, tap water and chromium-plating baths.  相似文献

Abstract

A new fluorescent sensor containing (1-[({2-[2-(2-hydroxy-1-naphtyl)-3-(2-{[(E)-1-(2-hydroxy-1-naphtyl)methylidene]amino}ethyl)-1-imidazolidinyl]ethyl}imino)methyl]-2-naphthol) (L) was synthesized for detecting La(III) ratiometrically. Complexation between compound L and La(III) with high selectivity gives rise to a great red shift from 430 to 522 nm in the emission spectra. In acetonitrile, the red shift of fluorescent emission upon lanthanium binding is due to the formation of a 1:1 metal–ligand complex. The fluorescent probe exhibits high selectivity over other common metal ions and mono-, di-, and trivalent cations, which indicates good selectivity for La(III) ions over a large number of interfering cations.  相似文献

Quantitative recovery and preconcentration of trace amounts of Ce(III), Co(III), Eu(III), Fe(III), Gd(III), Mn(II), Y(III) and Zn(II) ions from nearly saturated brines on the chelating resin Chelex-100 are described. Carrier-free radioactive isotopes were used. Only manganese was significantly affected by the high ionic strength of the brines. Chromium (III) was retained quantitatively by the resin but not eluted quantitatively. The results indicate that transition metal and rare earth ions can be quantitatively preconcentrated from solutions of low and high ionic strength.  相似文献
