Polypyrrole-chloride was studied as a new sorbent for preconcentration of copper(II) using solid-phase extraction prior to determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. The sorbent showed an extremely high selectivity towards copper(II) as an anionic chelate, i.e. Cu (pyrocatechol violet)22− in the pH range of 4-7. Copper(II) as Cu (pyrocatechol violet)22− was selectively retained on a column containing 1.0 g of polypyrrole-chloride and quantitatively eluted by 3 mL of 2.0 mol L−1 nitric acid. The calibration graph was linear with a correlation coefficient of 0.999 at levels near the detection limit and up to at least 50 μg L−1. When applied for preconcentration and determination of copper in tap water, waste water and hot spring water, the recoveries were found to be 96, 101 and 95%, respectively, with high precision (% relative standard deviation <4%) and low detection limit (0.87 μg L−1). Verification of the accuracy was carried out by the analysis of a standard reference material (BCR 715 wastewater-SRM). The relative error was +3.33%. The proposed method was successfully applied to the determination of copper in tap water, waste water and hot spring water samples.  相似文献

Polychlorotrifluoroethylene (PCTFE) in the form of beads was applied, as packing material for flow injection on-line column preconcentration and separation systems coupled with flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). Its performance characteristics were evaluated for trace copper determination in environmental samples. The on-line formed complex of metal with diethyldithiophosphate (DDPA) was sorbed on the PCTFE surface. Isobutyl methyl ketone (IBMK) at a flow rate of 2.8 mL min−1 was used to elute the analyte complex directly into the nebulizer-burner system of spectrophotometer. The proposed sorbent material reveal, excellent chemical and mechanical resistance, fast adsorption kinetics permitting the use of high sample flow rates up to 15 mL min−1 without loss of retention efficiency. For copper determination, with 90 s preconcentration time the sample frequency was 30 h−1, the enhancement factor was 250, which could be further improved by increasing the loading (preconcentration) time. The detection limit (3s) was cL = 0.07 μg L−1, and the precision (R.S.D.) was 1.8%, at the 2.0 μg L−1 Cu(II) level. For lead determination, the detection limit was cL = 2.7 μg L−1, and the precision (R.S.D.) 2.2%, at the 40.0 μg L−1 Pb(II) level. The accuracy of the developed method was evaluated by analyzing certified reference materials and by recovery measurements on spiked natural water samples.  相似文献

The present paper describes the synthesis of a new chemically modified cellulose microfiber through oxidation with sodium periodate and functionalization with N,N′-bis (2-aminoethyl)-1,2-ethanediamine for the fast and selective preconcentration of Cd(II) ions in flow system analysis. The new sorbentsorbent was characterized by FTIR, SEM, and surface area values. The uptake behavior of Cd(II) ions onto this sorbent was evaluated from kinetic data, pseudo-first-order and pseudo-second-order models, as well as from Langmuir, Freundlich and Langmuir-Freundlich adsorption isotherms. The maximum sorption capacity of 4.59 mg g−1 was estimated by the Langmuir-Freundlich model with fast kinetics for the sorption of Cd(II) described by the pseudo-second-order kinetic model. After characterization, the sorbent was packed in a mini-column, and a fast flow injection preconcentration system for Cd(II) determination by FAAS was developed. The best Cd(II) preconcentration condition, obtained by means of factorial design and response surface methodology, was achieved at pH 9.36 and a flow rate of 10 mL min−1 followed by elution with 1.0 mol L−1 nitric acid. By using 78 s preconcentration time, fast and highly sensitive determination of Cd(II) ions could be achieved with a limit of quantification of 0.20 μg L−1, preconcentration factor of 26, consumption index of 0.5 mL, concentration efficiency of 20 min−1, and sample throughput of 39 h−1. The repeatability for 10 replicate determinations was found to be 7.8 and 2.5% for Cd(II) ion concentrations of 5.0 and 100.0 μg L−1, respectively. The new sorbent efficiency for the interference-free preconcentration of Cd(II) ions was assessed by analysis of tap, mineral and lake waters, as well as synthetic seawater and normal saline waters. Furthermore, complex samples, such as biological samples, could be analysed by the proposed method in accordance with the accuracy attested by analysis of certified reference materials, TORT-2 (lobster hepatopancreas), and DOLT-4 (dogfish liver).  相似文献

Chemically modified silica containing amidoamidoxime group was studied as a sorbent for solid-phase extraction (SPE) and preconcentration of Cu(II) prior to determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). The sorbent showed an extremely high selectivity towards Cu(II) in the pH range of 4-6, while the extraction of Pb(II), Cd(II), Ni(II) and Co(II) was low. The adsorption isotherm followed the Langmuir model and the maximum sorption capacity of 0.0163 mmol Cu(II) g−1 was achieved. In the flow system, Cu(II) was completely retained on a column containing 40 mg of the modified silica at the flow rate of 4.0 mL min−1 and quantitatively eluted by 5 mL of 1% (v/v) HNO3. No interference from Na+, K+, Mg2+, Ca2+, Cl and SO42− at 10, 100 and 1000 mg L−1 was observed. When applied for preconcentration and determination of Cu(II) in tap water, pond water, and seawater, the recoveries were 96, 101, and 95%, respectively, with high precision (% relative standard deviation (R.S.D.) < 4) and low method detection limit (9 μg L−1).  相似文献

This study presents a new procedure for the determination of trace levels of copper(II) in an aqueous matrix, through flow injection (FI) on-line preconcentration with a minicolumn packed with silica gel modified with 3(1-imidazolyl)propyl groups. After the preconcentration stage, the analyte was eluted with a HNO3 solution and determined by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS). The measurements of the analytical signals were carried out as peak area and peak height with the objective of evaluating the most appropriate absorption measurement for the proposed method. Four procedures to calculate the experimental enrichment factor (EF) were also studied. For a preconcentration time of 90 s the enrichment factors found in this study varied between 19.5-25.8 and 36.2-42.2 for peak area and peak height, respectively. The precision of the proposed method was calculated for a solution containing 20 μg l−1 of Cu(II), when 11.2 ml of solution was preconcentrated (n=7), and their respective relative standard deviation (R.S.D.) values were 1.2 and 1.4% for peak area and peak height, respectively. The detection limits obtained were 0.4 and 0.2 μg l−1 of Cu(II) for peak area and peak height, respectively, with a preconcentration time of 90 s. The on-line preconcentration system accuracy was evaluated through a recovery test on the aqueous samples and analysis of a certified material.  相似文献

In this work, a new 2-(2-oxoethyl)hydrazine carbothioamide modified silica gel (SG-OHC) sorbent was prepared and applied for preconcentration of trace mercury(II) prior to the measurement by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES). The optimization of some analytical parameters affecting the adsorption of the analyte such as acidity, shaking time, sample flow rate and volume, eluent condition, and interfering substances were investigated. At pH 3, the maximum static adsorption capacity of Hg(II) onto the SG-OHC was 37.5 mg g−1. The quantitative recovery (>95%) of Hg(II) could be obtained using 2 mL of 0.5 mol L−1 HCl and 1% CS(NH2)2 solution as eluent. Common coexisting substances did not interfere with the separation of mercury(II) under optimal conditions. The detection limit of present method was 0.10 ng mL−1, and the relative standard deviation (RSD) was lower than 4.0% (n = 8). The prepared sorbent was successfully applied for the preconcentration of trace Hg(II) in certified and water samples with satisfactory results.  相似文献

A procedure for the determination of trace level of copper(II) and cadmium(II) by FAAS using an on-line preconcentration system has been proposed. In this system, copper and cadmium ions were adsorbed onto a minicolumn packed with silica gel modified with niobium(V) oxide (Nb2O5-SiO2), followed by nitric acid elution in reverse mode and determination on-line by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (AAS) without interference of the matrix. Chemical and flow variables as well as concomitant ions were studied in the developed procedure. The enrichment factor for copper(II) and cadmium(II) was 34.2 and 33.0, respectively, using a preconcentration time of 2 min. The limit of detection for copper(II) and cadmium(II) was 0.4, and 0.1 μg l−1, respectively. The precision of the method, evaluated as the relative standard deviation in solutions containing 15 μg l−1 of copper and 10 μg l−1 of cadmium, by analyzing a series of seven replicates, was 1.8 and 1.6%, respectively. The accuracy was assessed through recovery experiments of certified material and water samples.  相似文献

In the present work, a new ligandless-dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (LL-DLLME) method has been developed for preconcentration trace amounts of copper as a prior step to its determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. In the proposed approach 1,2-dicholorobenzene and ethanol were used as extraction and dispersive solvents, respectively. Some factors influencing on the extraction efficiency of copper and its subsequent determination were studied and optimized, such as the extraction and dispersive solvent type and volume, pH of sample solution, extraction time and salting out effect. Under the optimal conditions, the calibration curve was linear in the range of 1.0 ng mL−1-0.6 μg mL−1 of copper with R2 = 0.9985. Detection limit was 0.5 ng mL−1 in original solution (3Sb/m) and the relative standard deviation for seven replicate determination of 0.2 μg mL−1 copper was ±1.4%. The proposed method has been applied for determination of copper in standard and water samples with satisfactory results.  相似文献

The potential of multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) as solid-phase extraction adsorbent for the separation and preconcentration of gold has been investigated. Gold could be adsorbed quantitatively on MWNTs in the pH range of 1–6, and then eluted completely with 2 mL of 3% thiourea in 1 mol L− 1 HCl solution at a flow rate of 0.5 mL min− 1. A new method using a microcolumn packed with MWNTs as sorbent has been developed for the preconcentration of trace amount of Au prior to its determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. Parameters influencing the preconcentration of Au, such as pH of the sample, sample flow rate and volume, elution solution and interfering ions, have been examined and optimized. Under the optimum experimental conditions, the detection limit of this method for Au was 0.15 µg L− 1 with an enrichment factor of 75, and the relative standard deviation (R.S.D) was 3.1% at the 100 µg L− 1 Au level. The method has been applied for the determination of trace amount of Au in geological and water samples with satisfactory results.  相似文献

A novel hydrophobic sorbent material for on-line column preconcentration and separation systems coupled with atomic spectrometry was developed. Poly(etheretherketone) (PEEK) in the form of turnings was used as packing material and evaluated for trace lead determination in environmental samples. Sample and ammonium diethyl-dithiophosphate (DDPA) reagent were mixed on-line and the Pb(II)-DDPA complex was retained effectively on PEEK-turnings. Isobutyl methyl ketone (IBMK) was adopted for efficient analyte complex elution and subsequently transportation into the nebulizer-burner system for atomization. The developed sorbent material has shown, excellent chemical and mechanical resistance, fast adsorption kinetics permitting the use of high sample flow rates without significant loss of retention efficiency. For 120 s sample preconcentration time the sampling frequency was 20 h−1, the enhancement factor was 110, the detection limit (3 s) was cL = 0.32 μg L−1, and the relative standard deviation (RSD) was sR = 2.2%, at the 50.0 μg L−1 Pb(II) level. The accuracy of the developed method was evaluated by analyzing certified reference materials.  相似文献

The present paper proposes the application of multiwall carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) as a solid sorbent for lead preconcentration using a flow system coupled to flame atomic absorption spectrometry. The method comprises the preconcentration of Pb (II) ions at a buffered solution (pH 4.7) onto 30 mg of MWCNTs previously oxidized with concentrated HNO3. The elution step is carried out with 1.0 mol L−1 HNO3. The effect of the experimental parameters, including sample pH, sampling flow rate, buffer and eluent concentrations were investigated by means of a 24 full factorial design, while for the final optimization a Doehlert design was employed. Under the best experimental conditions the preconcentration system provided detection and quantification limits of 2.6 and 8.6 μg L−1, respectively. A wide linear range varying from 8.6 up to 775 μg L−1 (r > 0.999) and the respective precision (relative standard deviation) of 7.7 and 1.4% for the 15 and 200 μg L−1 levels were obtained. The characteristics obtained for the performance of the flow preconcentration system were a preconcentration factor of 44.2, preconcentration efficiency of 11 min−1, consumptive index of 0.45 mL and sampling frequency estimated as 14 h−1. Preconcentration studies of Pb (II) ions in the presence of the majority foreign ions tested did not show interference, attesting the good performance of MWCNTs. The accuracy of the method was assessed from analysis of water samples (tap, mineral, physiological serum and synthetic seawater) and common medicinal herbs submitted to the acid decomposition (garlic and Ginkgo Biloba). The satisfactory recovery values obtained without using analyte addition method confirms the feasibility of this method for Pb (II) ions determination in different type of samples.  相似文献

A novel method that utilizes 1-(2-formamidoethyl)-3-phenylurea-modified activated carbon (AC-1-(2-formamidoethyl)-3-phenylurea) as a solid-phase extractant has been developed for simultaneous preconcentration of trace Cr(III), Cu(II), Fe(III) and Pb(II) prior to the measurement by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (ICP-AES). Experimental conditions for effective adsorption of trace levels of Cr(III), Cu(II), Fe(III) and Pb(II) were optimized using batch and column procedures in detail. The optimum pH value for the separation of metal ions simultaneously on the new sorbent was 4. And the adsorbed metal ions could be completely eluted by using 2.0 mL 2.0 mol L−1 HCl solution. Common coexisting ions did not interfere with the separation and determination of target metal ions. The maximum static adsorption capacity of the sorbent at optimum conditions was found to be 39.8, 39.9, 77.8 and 17.3 mg g−1 for Cr(III), Cu(II), Fe(III) and Pb(II), respectively. The detection limits of the method were found to be 0.15, 0.41, 0.27 and 0.36 ng mL−1 for Cr(III), Cu(II), Fe(III) and Pb(II), respectively. The relative standard deviation (RSD) of the method was lower than 4.0% (n = 8). The method was successfully applied for the preconcentration of trace Cr(III), Cu(II), Fe(III) and Pb(II) in natural and certified samples with satisfactory results.  相似文献

The new sorbent was prepared by oxidative surface modification. Experimental conditions for effective adsorption of trace levels of Cr(III), Fe(III), Hg(II) and Pb(II) were optimized with respect to different experimental parameters using batch and column procedures in detail. Complete elution of absorbed metal ions from the sorbent surface was carried out using 3.0 mL of 2% (%w/w) thiourea and 0.5 mol L−1 HCl solution. Common coexisting ions did not interfere with the separation and determination of target metal ions. The maximum static adsorption capacity of the sorbent at optimum conditions was found to be 39.4, 28.9, 60.5 and 49.9 mg g−1 for Cr(III), Fe(III), Hg(II) and Pb(II), respectively. The time for 94% adsorption of target metal ions was less than 2 min. The detection limits of the method was found to be 0.28, 0.22, 0.09 and 0.17 ng mL−1 for Cr(III), Fe(III), Hg(II) and Pb(II), respectively. In this study a method for the determination of cadmium in fuel alcohol using solid-phase extraction with a flow injection analysis system and detection by flame atomic absorption spectrometry was developed. The sorbent material used was a vermicompost commonly used as a garden fertilizer. The chemical and flow variables of the on-line preconcentration system were optimized by means of a full factorial design. The selected factors were: sorbent mass, sample pH, buffer concentration and sample flow rate. The optimum extraction conditions were obtained using sample pH in the range of 7.3-8.3 buffered with tris(hydroxymethyl)aminomethane at 50 mmol L−1, a sample flow rate of 4.5 mL min−1 and 160 mg of sorbent mass. With the optimized conditions, the preconcentration factor, limit of detection and sample throughput were estimated as 32 (for preconcentration of 10 mL sample), 1.7 μg L−1 and 20 samples per hour, respectively. The analytical curve was linear from 5 up to at least 50 μg L−1, with a correlation coefficient of 0.998 and a relative standard deviation of 2.4% (35 μg L−1, n = 7). The developed method was successfully applied to spiked fuel alcohol, and accuracy was assessed through recovery tests, with recovery ranging from 94% to 100%.  相似文献

An on-line flow injection (FI) preconcentration-electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS) method is developed for trace determination of chromium in drinking water samples by sorption on a conical minicolumn packed with activated carbon (AC) at pH 5.0. The chromium was removed from the minicolumn with 1.0% (v/v) nitric acid. An enrichment factor (EF) of 35-fold for a sample volume of 10 ml was obtained. The detection limit (DL) value for the preconcentration method proposed was 3.0 ng l−1. The precision for 10 replicate determinations at the 0.5 μg l−1 Cr level was 4.0% relative standard deviation (R.S.D.), calculate with the peak heights obtained. The calibration graph using the preconcentration system for chromium was linear with a correlation coefficient of 0.9992 at levels near the detection limits up to at least 50 μg l−1. The method was successfully applied to the determination of Cr(III) and Cr(VI) in drinking water samples.  相似文献

A simple, sensitive, low-cost and rapid, flow injection system for the on-line preconcentration of lead by sorption on a microcolumn packed with silica gel funtionalized with methylthiosalicylate (TS-gel) was developped. The metal is directly retained on the sorbent column and subsequently then eluted from it by EDTA. Five variables (sample flow rate, eluent flow rate, eluent concentration, pH and buffer concentration) were considered as factors in the optimization process. Interactions between analytical factors and their optimal levels were investigated using two level factorial and Box-Behnken designs. The optimum conditions established were applied to the determination of lead by flow injection inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry (FI-ICP-AES). The proposed method has a linear calibration range from 10 to at least 500 ng ml−1 of lead. At a sample frequency of 24 h−1 and a 120 s preconcentration time, the enrichment factor was 41, the detection limit was 15.3 ng ml−1 (S/N=3) and the precision, expressed as relative standard deviation, was 0.9% (at 100 ng ml−1). Validation of the developed method was carried out against electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry analysis without statistically significant differences between the proposed method and the atomic absorption method.  相似文献

In this study a method for the determination of low concentrations of silver in waters using solid-phase extraction with a flow injection analysis system and detection by flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) was developed. Moringa oleifera seeds were used as a biosorbent material. Chemical and flow variables of the on-line preconcentration system such as sample pH and flow rate, preconcentration time, eluent concentration and sorbent mass were studied. The optimum preconcentration conditions were obtained using sample pH in the range of 6.0-8.0, preconcentration time of 4 min at a flow rate of 3.5 mL min− 1, 0.5 mol L− 1 HNO3 eluent at a flow rate of 4.5 mL min− 1 and 35 mg of sorbent mass. With the optimized conditions, the preconcentration factor, precision, detection limit and sample throughput were estimated as 35 (for preconcentration of 14 mL sample), 3.8% (5.0 μg L− 1, n = 7), 0.22 μg L− 1 and 12 samples per hour, respectively. The developed method was successfully applied to mineral water and tap water, and accuracy was assessed through analysis of a certified reference material for water (APS-1071 NIST) and recovery tests, with recovery ranging from 94 to 101%.  相似文献

A further study on a newly developed flow injection (FI) on-line multiplexed sorption preconcentration (MSP) using a knotted reactor coupled with flame atomic absorption spectrometry (FAAS) was carried out to demonstrate its applicability and limitation for trace element determination. For this purpose, Cr(VI), Cu(II), Ni(II) and Co(II) were selected as the analytes, and detailed comparison was made between the MSP-FAAS and conventional FI on-line sorption preconcentration FAAS in respect to retention efficiency and linear ranges of absorbance versus sample loading flow rate and total preconcentration time. Introduction of an air-flow for removal of the residual solution in the KR after each sub-injection in the MSP procedure played a decisive role in the improvement of retention efficiency. The linearity of absorbance versus sample loading flow rate or total preconcentration time was extended to a more degree for the metal ions with less stability of their PDC (pyrrolidine dithiocarbamate) complexes than those with more stable PDC complexes. It seems that the MSP procedure behaves advantages beyond the inflection points in the diagrams of absorbance versus total preconcentration time and sample loading flow rate obtained by conventional (a single continuous) preconcentration procedure. With a sample loading flow rate of 6.0 ml min−1 and a total preconcentration time of 180 s, the retention efficiencies were increased from 25, 46, 41 and 63% with a single continuous sorption preconcentration to 44, 78, 65 and 75% with a six sub-injection preconcentration procedure for Cr(VI), Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II), respectively. The detection limits were 0.40, 0.33, 0.31 and 0.26 μg l−1 for Cr(VI), Co(II), Ni(II), and Cu(II), respectively. The precision (R.S.D.) for eleven replicate determination of 2 μg l−1 Cr(VI), Co(II) and Ni(II), and 1 μg l−1 Cu(II), was 2.1, 4.1, 2.6 and 1.7%, respectively.  相似文献

Solid phase extraction of metal ions using carbon nanotubes   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
The sorption behaviour of carbon nanotubes (CNTs) toward some divalent metal ions such as Cu(II), Co(II), Ni(II), Zn(II), Pb(II), Mn(II) and Cd(II) has been investigated systematically. The affinity order of the metal ions towards CNTs at pH in the range of 7.0-9.0 was: Cu(II) > Pb(II) > Zn(II) > Co(II) > Ni(II) > Cd(II) > Mn(II). The experimental parameters for preconcentration of copper, which exhibits the highest affinity towards carbon nanotubes, on a microcolumn packed with CNTs prior to its determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry have been investigated. Copper can be quantitatively retained at pH 8.2 from sample volume up to 150 mL and then eluted completely with 0.1 mol L− 1 HNO3. The limit of detection limit for Cu(II) determination with FAAS detection was 2.1 μg L− 1, and the RSD was 3.5% at the 50 μg L− 1 level. Under the optimal conditions for copper enrichment also Zn(II), Pb(II) and Ni(II) could be quantitatively preconcentrated from water samples. The method was validated using a certified reference materials BCR-610 and SRM 1640.  相似文献
