We consider the multi-mode resource-constrained project scheduling problem (MRCPSP), where a task has different execution modes characterized by different resource requirements. Due to the nonrenewable resources and the multiple modes, this problem is NP-hard; therefore, we implement an evolutionary algorithm looking for a feasible solution minimizing the makespan.  相似文献

In this work we present a new scheduling model for parallel machines, which extends the multiprocessor scheduling problem with release times for minimizing the total tardiness, and also extends the problem of vehicle routing with time windows. This new model is motivated by a resource allocation problem, which appears in the service sector. We present two class of heuristic algorithms for the solution of the problem, the first class is a class of greedy algorithms, the second class is based on the solutions of linear assignment problems. Furthermore we give a rescheduling algorithm, which improves a given feasible solution of the problem. We present an infeasible interior-point algorithm for symmetric linear complementarity problem based on modified Nesterov–Todd directions by using Euclidean Jordan algebras. The algorithm decreases the duality gap and the feasibility residual at the same rate. In this algorithm, we construct strictly feasible iterates for a sequence of perturbations of the given problem. Each main iteration of the algorithm consists of a feasibility step and a number of centring steps. The starting point in the first iteration is strictly feasible for a perturbed problem. The feasibility steps lead to a strictly feasible iterate for the next perturbed problem. By using centring steps for the new perturbed problem, a strictly feasible iterate is obtained to be close to the central path of the new perturbed problem. Furthermore, giving a complexity analysis of the algorithm, we derive the currently best-known iteration bound for infeasible interior-point methods.  相似文献

In this paper, we first present a full-Newton step feasible interior-point algorithm for solving horizontal linear complementarity problems. We prove that the full-Newton step to the central path is quadratically convergent. Then, we generalize an infeasible interior-point method for linear optimization to horizontal linear complementarity problems based on new search directions. This algorithm starts from strictly feasible iterates on the central path of a perturbed problem that is produced by a suitable perturbation in the horizontal linear complementarity problem. We use the so-called feasibility steps that find strictly feasible iterates for the next perturbed problem. By using centering steps for the new perturbed problem, we obtain a strictly feasible iterate close enough to the central path of the new perturbed problem. The complexity of the algorithm coincides with the best known iteration bound for infeasible interior-point methods.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate a resource-constrained project scheduling problem with flexible resources. This is an \(\mathcal {NP}\)-hard combinatorial optimization problem that consists of scheduling a set of activities requiring specific resource units of several skills. The goal is to minimize the makespan of the project. We propose a biased random-key genetic algorithm for computing feasible solutions for the referred problem. We study different decoding mechanisms: an already existing method in the literature, a new adapted serial scheduling generation scheme, and a combination of both. The new procedure is tested using a set of benchmark instances of the problem. The results provide strong evidence that the new heuristic is robust and yields high-quality feasible solutions.  相似文献

The generalized assignment problem (GAP) has been studied by numerous researchers over the past 30 years or so. Simply stated, one must find a minimum-cost assignment of tasks to agents such that each task is assigned to exactly one agent and such that each agent's resource capacity is honoured. The problem is known to be NP-hard. In this paper, we study the elastic generalized assignment problem (EGAP). The elastic version of GAP allows agent resource capacity to be violated at additional cost. Another version allows undertime costs to be assessed as well if an agent's resource capacity is not used to its full extent. The EGAP is also NP-hard. We describe a special-purpose branch-and-bound algorithm that utilizes linear programming cuts, feasible solution generators, Lagrangean relaxation and subgradient optimization. We present computational results on a large collection of randomly generated ‘hard’ problems with up to 4000 binary variables.  相似文献

Problems of scheduling nonpreemptable jobs which require simultaneously a machine from a set of parallel, identical machines and a continuous, renewable resource are considered. For each job there are known: its processing speed as a continuous, concave function of a continuous resource allotted at a time and its processing demand. The optimization criterion is the schedule length. The problem can be decomposed into two interrelated subproblems: (i) to sequence jobs on machines, and (ii) to find an optimal (continuous) resource allocation among jobs already sequenced. Problem (ii) can be formulated as a convex programming problem with linear constraints and solved using proper solvers. Thus, the problem remains to generate a set of all feasible sequences of jobs on machines (this guarantees finding an optimal schedule in the general case). However, the cardinality of this set grows exponentially with the number of jobs. Thus, we propose to use heuristic search methods defined on the space of feasible sequences. Three metaheuristics: tabu search (TS), simulated annealing (SA) and genetic algorithm (GA) have been implemented and compared computationally with a random sampling technique. The computational experiment has been carried out on an SGI PowerChallenge XL computer with 12 RISC R8000 processors. Some directions for further research have been pointed out.  相似文献

A new exact algorithm that solves the Resource Availability Cost Problem (RACP) in project scheduling is shown to yield a significant improvement over the existing algorithm in the literature. The new algorithm consists of a hybrid method where an initial feasible solution is found heuristically. The branching scheme solves a Resource-Constrained Project Scheduling Problem (RCPSP) at each node where the resources of the RACP are fixed. The knowledge of previously solved RCPSPs is used to produce cuts in the search tree. A worst-case-performance theorem is established for this new algorithm. Experiments are performed on instances adapted from the PSPLIB database. The new algorithm can be used to minimize any resource availability cost problem once a procedure for the underlying resource-constrained problem is available.  相似文献

A problem is considered of the allocation of resources so as to maximize the minimum return from several activities. Optimality conditions are given for the case of a single resource, and are used to derive a solution algorithm. Problems with several resources cannot be solved by resourcewise optimization. Concave return functions are treated approximately by linear programming, and optimality or almost optimality of any feasible solution to such a problem can be evaluated by the solution of a linear programming problem. The evaluation measure is extended to certain feasible solutions of problems which have continuous, but not necessarily concave, return functions. A numerical example is given.  相似文献

In this paper, it proposes a multi-population interactive coevolutionary algorithm for the flexible job shop scheduling problems. In the proposed algorithm, both the ant colony optimization and genetic algorithm with different configurations were applied to evolve each population independently. By the interaction, competition and sharing mechanism among populations, the computing resource is utilized more efficiently, and the quality of populations is improved effectively. The performance of our proposed approach was evaluated by a lot of benchmark instances taken from literature. The experimental results have shown that the proposed algorithm is a feasible and effective approach for the flexible job shop scheduling problem.  相似文献

We consider a variant of the constrained shortest path problem, where the constraints come from a set of forbidden paths (arc sequences) that cannot be part of any feasible solution. Two solution approaches are proposed for this variant. The first uses Aho and Corasick's keyword matching algorithm to filter paths produced by a k-shortest paths algorithm. The second generalizes Martins' deviation path approach for the k-shortest paths problem by merging the original graph with a state graph derived from Aho and Corasick's algorithm. Like Martins' approach, the second method amounts to a polynomial reduction of the shortest path problem with forbidden paths to a classic shortest path problem. Its significant advantage over the first approach is that it allows considering forbidden paths in more general shortest path problems such as the shortest path problem with resource constraints.  相似文献

During our earlier research, it was recognised that in order to be successful with an indirect genetic algorithm approach using a decoder, the decoder has to strike a balance between being an optimiser in its own right and finding feasible solutions. Previously this balance was achieved manually. Here we extend this by presenting an automated approach where the genetic algorithm itself, simultaneously to solving the problem, sets weights to balance the components out. Subsequently we were able to solve a complex and non-linear scheduling problem better than with a standard direct genetic algorithm implementation.  相似文献

In recent years, considerable effort in the field of operations research has been paid to optimizing airline operations, including the logistics of an airline’s fleet of aircraft. We focus on the problem of aircraft routing, which involves generating and selecting a particular route for each aircraft of a sub-fleet that is already assigned to a set of feasible sequences of flight legs. Similar studies typically focus on long-term route planning. However, stochastic events such as severe weather changes, equipment failures, variable maintenance times, or even new regulations mandated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) play havoc on these long-term plans. In addition, these long-term plans ignore detailed maintenance requirements by considering only one or two of the primary maintenance checks that must be performed on a regular, long-term basis. As a result, these plans are often ignored by personnel in airline operations who are forced on a daily basis to develop quick, ad hoc methods to address these maintenance requirements and other irregular events. To address this problem, we develop an operational aircraft maintenance routing problem formulation that includes maintenance resource availability constraints. We propose a branch-and-price algorithm for solving this problem, which, due to the resource constraints, entails a modification of the branch-on, follow-on branching rule typically used for solving similar problems. Through computational testing, we explore the efficiency of this solution approach under a combination of heuristic choices for column (route) generation and selection.  相似文献

This paper presents a heuristic algorithm for solving RCPSP/max, the resource constrained project scheduling problem with generalized precedence relations. The algorithm relies, at its core, on a constraint satisfaction problem solving (CSP) search procedure, which generates a consistent set of activity start times by incrementally removing resource conflicts from an otherwise temporally feasible solution. Key to the effectiveness of the CSP search procedure is its heuristic strategy for conflict selection. A conflict sampling method biased toward selection of minimal conflict sets that involve activities with higher-capacity requests is introduced, and coupled with a non-deterministic choice heuristic to guide the base conflict resolution process. This CSP search is then embedded within a larger iterative-sampling search framework to broaden search space coverage and promote solution optimization. The efficacy of the overall heuristic algorithm is demonstrated empirically on a large set of previously studied RCPSP/max benchmark problems.  相似文献

In this paper we consider the quadratic knapsack problem which consists in maximizing a positive quadratic pseudo-Boolean function subject to a linear capacity constraint. We propose a new method for computing an upper bound. This method is based on the solution of a continuous linear program constructed by adding to a classical linearization of the problem some constraints rebundant in 0–1 variables but nonredundant in continuous variables. The obtained upper bound is better than the bounds given by other known methods. We also propose an algorithm for computing a good feasible solution. This algorithm is an elaboration of the heuristic methods proposed by Chaillou, Hansen and Mahieu and by Gallo, Hammer and Simeone. The relative error between this feasible solution and the optimum solution is generally less than 1%. We show how these upper and lower bounds can be efficiently used to determine the values of some variables at the optimum. Finally we propose a branch-and-bound algorithm for solving the quadratic knapsack problem and report extensive computational tests.  相似文献

This paper considers the problem of determining the disassembly schedule (quantity and timing) of products in order to satisfy the demand of their parts or components over a finite planning horizon. The objective is to minimize the sum of set-up, disassembly operation, and inventory holding costs. As an extension of the uncapacitated versions of the problem, we consider the resource capacity restrictions over the planning horizon. An integer program is suggested to describe the problem mathematically, and to solve the problem, a heuristic is developed using a Lagrangean relaxation technique together with a method to find a good feasible solution while considering the trade-offs among different costs. The effectiveness of the algorithm is tested on a number of randomly generated problems and the test results show that the heuristic suggested in this paper can give near optimal solutions within a short amount of computation time.  相似文献
