We obtain closed-form exact solutions to the 1 + 1 Born–Infeld equation arising in nonlinear electrodynamics. In particular, we obtain general traveling wave solutions of one wave variable, solutions of two wave variables, similarity solutions, multiplicatively separable solutions, and additively separable solutions. Then, putting the Born–Infeld model into correspondence with the minimal surface equation using a Wick rotation, we are able to construct complex helicoid solutions, transformed catenoid solutions, and complex analogues of Scherk’s first and second surfaces. Some of the obtained solutions are new, whereas others are generalizations of solutions in the literature. These exact solutions demonstrate the fact that solutions to the Born–Infeld model can exhibit a variety of behaviors. Exploiting the integrability of the Born–Infeld equation, the solutions are constructed elegantly, without the need for complicated analytical algorithms.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the Cauchy problem for magnetic fluid of spin-liquid type with Mermin-Ho relation in the three-dimensional space and prove global existence and uniqueness of solutions. The proof is based on the equivalence relation between smooth solutions of the spin-liquid model and the systems of Schrödinger equations with Abelian gauge field. The Sobolev spaces with fractional derivatives are also used in our estimates.  相似文献

Using a noncommutative version of the uniton theory, we study the space of those solutions of the noncommutative U(1) sigma model that are representable as finite-dimensional perturbations of the identity operator. The basic integer-valued characteristics of such solutions are their normalized energy e, canonical rank r, and minimum uniton number u, which always satisfy r ≤ e and u ≤ e. Starting with the so-called BPS solutions (u = 1), we completely describe the sets of all solutions with r = 1, 2, e − 1, e (which forces u ≤ 2) and all solutions of small energy (e ≤ 5). The paper is concerned with the dynamical behaviors of a stage-structured diffusive predator-prey model with nonlocal effect and harvesting. The linear stability of the equilibria is investigated by using the characteristic equation technique. By constructing a closed convex set bounded by a pair of upper-lower solutions and using Schauder fixed point theorem, the existence of traveling wave solution connecting two steady states is also derived. Finally, a pair of upper-lower solutions is constructed by using inequality technique and characteristic equations.  相似文献

In the note we are concerned with higher regularity and uniqueness of solutions to the stationary problem arising from the large eddy simulation of turbulent ows. The system of equations contains a nonlocal nonlinear term, which prevents straightforward application of a difference quotients method. The existence of weak solutions was shown in A. In this paper, we study the Cauchy problem for a regularized viscoelastic fluid model in space dimension two, the Bardina–Oldroyd model, which is inspired by the simplified Bardina model for the turbulent flows of fluids, introduced by Cao et al. (2006). In particular, we obtain the local existence of smooth solutions to this model via the contraction mapping principle. Furthermore, we prove the global existence of smooth solutions to this system.  相似文献

By Uhlenbeck’s results, every harmonic map from the Riemann sphere S2 to the unitary group U(n) decomposes into a product of so-called unitons: special maps from S2 to the Grassmannians Gr k(ℂn) ⊂ U(n) satisfying certain systems of first-order differential equations. We construct a noncommutative analogue of this factorization, applicable to those solutions of the noncommutative unitary sigma model that are finite-dimensional perturbations of zero-energy solutions. A model of androgen deprivation treatment for prostate cancer is considered in this paper. Bright/dark solitary solutions to the model are constructed using inverse balancing and generalized differential operator techniques. It is shown that solitary solutions correspond to biomedically relevant sets of model parameters. Dynamical properties of solitary solutions are analyzed in the phase plane. It is demonstrated that such solutions closely reflect the real-world phenomena observed during androgen deprivation treatment. Computational experiments are used to illustrate these effects.  相似文献

Ordinary differential equations are used frequently by theoreticians to model kinetic process in chemistry and biology. These systems can have stable and unstable steady states and oscillations. This paper presents an algorithm to find all steady state solutions to a restricted class of ODE models, for which the right-hand sides are linear combinations of rational functions of variables and parameters. The algorithm converts the steady state equations into a system of polynomial equations and uses a globally convergent homotopy method to find all the roots of the system of polynomials. All steady state solutions of the original ODEs are guaranteed to be present as roots of the polynomial equations. The conversion may generate some spurious roots that do not correspond to steady state solutions. The stability properties of the steady states are not revealed. This paper explains the algorithms used and gives results for a cell cycle modeling problem.  相似文献

In this paper, we discuss the time-periodic solutions to a general three-dimensional nonlinear viscoelastic system with Dirichlet boundary condition. Employing the singularity of the integral kernel, we obtain the energy estimates in Sobolev spaces with fractional index and then show the existence of time-periodic solutions to the problem for viscoelastic solid and liquid models, respectively.  相似文献

We investigate a multi‐dimensional isentropic hydrodynamic (Euler–Poisson) model for semiconductors, where the energy equation is replaced by the pressure–density relation p(n) . We establish the global existence of smooth solutions for the Cauchy–Neumann problem with small perturbed initial data and homogeneous Neumann boundary conditions. We show that, as t→+∞, the solutions converge to the non‐constant stationary solutions of the corresponding drift–diffusion equations. In this paper, we study the regularity of solutions to two microscopic-macroscopic models: Hookean spring model and FENE dumbbell model. By making use of the structure of Fokker-Planck operator and establishing the general Hardy-Littlewood's inequality, we show that the classical solutions near the equilibrium obtained in [F. Lin, C. Liu, Ping Zhang, On a micro-macro model for polymeric fluids near equilibrium, Comm. Pure Appl. Math. 60 (6) (2007) 838-866] and [F. Lin, Ping Zhang, The FENE dumbbell model near equilibrium, Acta Math. Sinica (Chin. Ser.) 24 (2008) 529-538] become smooth with respect to the end-to-end vector variable q for any positive time.  相似文献

This paper concerns the Chern-Simons limit for the Abelian Maxwell-Chern-Simons model on bounded domains with vanishing gauge fields. We prove that every sequence of solutions of the Maxwell-Chern-Simons equations has a subsequence converging to a solution of the Chern-Simons equation in any Ck norms. We also show that the Maxwell-Chern-Simons equations with the nontopological type boundary condition do not admit any nontrivial solutions on star-shaped domains.  相似文献
