The previously reported results concerning the generation of excess thermal noise induced by capillary flow of aqueous solutions of poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) are supplemented by measurements on the following solutions: PEO/DMF, PEO/i-PrOH, PS/THF, PVAC/cyclohexanone, and poly(acrylamide)/water. Similarly to the previous findings, a noise level increasing with the flow rate is recorded, the noise exhibiting a l/f -frequency spectrum. Within a certain flow range, distinct peaks are recorded in the spectrum (harmonics of a fundamental frequency,f 0). Thef 0-values of the various solutions under varying flow conditions arrange themselves along a commonf 0-shear rate curve. They appear to be associated with transversal oscillations of the solution upstream the capillary entrance.  相似文献

The stability of a class of delayed cellular neural networks (DCNN) with or without noise perturbation is studied.After presenting a simple and easily checkable condition for the global exponential stability of a deterministic system,we further investigate the case with noise perturbation.When DCNN is perturbed by external noise,the system is globally stable.An important fact is that,when the system is perturbed by internal noise,it is globally exponentially stable only if the total noise strength is within a certain bound.This is significant since the stochastic resonance phenomena have been found to exist in many nonlinear systems.  相似文献

Inflow noise from a symmetric airfoil interacting with homogeneous and isotropic turbulence is investigated focusing on the effects of airfoil geometry. The numerical method employed is based on computational aeroacoustic techniques using the high-order dispersion-relation-preserving finite-difference schemes for solving two-dimensional linearized Euler equations. Effects on inflow noise of the airfoil thickness, leading-edge radius, and freestream Mach number are examined by comparing the acoustic power spectrum of the airfoils and their flow field characteristics. Acoustic power levels of airfoils are found to exponentially decrease in the high-frequency range as airfoil thickness increases because incident turbulent velocities are more distorted in the larger stagnation region near the leading edge. This distortion is shown to be related to the slope angle of the streamline of steady mean flow near the leading edge. However, this high-frequency reduction weakens as the Mach number increases due to the decreasing slope angle. In addition, the chordwise velocity component in the incident turbulence contributes more to the radiating acoustic pressure level as the freestream Mach number increases, which also results in less high-frequency reduction at higher freestream Mach number. At fixed airfoil thickness, increasing the leading-edge radius leads to decreases in the acoustic power level, which may also be explained by size variation of the stagnation region around the leading edge. An approximate algebraic formula for acoustic power spectra is derived on the basis of these observations. Acoustic power spectra predicted using this formula are shown to closely follow the numerical results. Finally, the applicability of the algebraic formula and the current numerical methods to more realistic problems are confirmed by comparing their predictions with the measured data.  相似文献

In this work we investigate the stability of a nominally straight two-dimensional quasistatically growing crack to a small perturbation of its path. Formulae for perturbations of stress intensity factors induced by slight deviation of the crack trajectory were developed by Movchan et al. (Int. J. Solids Struct. 35, 3419) Their solution is exploited to derive an equation for the perturbation of the crack path on the assumption that the crack advances in pure “opening” mode (i.e. local KII=0). Various types of loading conditions are considered, including a cracked body loaded by a pair of point body forces and a crack whose faces are subjected to given tractions acting in the direction normal to the crack boundary. The body is also subjected to a remotely maintained uniaxial stress, aligned with the direction of the unperturbed crack. The loading is assumed to advance as the crack advances, to maintain the critical value of Mode I stress intensity factor. Numerical computations of possible crack paths have been performed, extending results on crack stability obtained by Cotterell and Rice (Int. J. Fract. 16, 155). The results show that in the case of loading by point body forces the stability of the crack path depends on the positions of the points of application of the applied forces and the magnitude of the applied stress acting parallel to the crack. There exists a critical value of this stress such that the crack path is stable for values less than critical and unstable otherwise. It is shown that the crack is always unstable in the case of point force tractions applied normal to the crack faces.  相似文献

A two‐dimensional numerical simulation solving unsteady incompressible Navier–Stokes equations is used to study the natural varicose instability of a plane jet in the Reynolds number range of 100–900. A transient train of vortices is observed at the beginning of the computation. It disappears yielding a steady flow. This flow is then used at the basis for forced excitation in order to study the space time development of instability. A Reynolds number dependant behaviour is observed which implies that viscosity directly affects the vortex dynamics. Copyright © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A weight function matrix is developed for obtaining the stress singularity coefficients at the edge of a plane crack, moving uniformly at an intersonic speed while subjected to arbitrary shear loading. This is then utilised for deriving, to first order, the perturbations of these coefficients associated with a small spatially and temporally varying perturbation of its edge. The perturbation solution is employed, in conjunction with a simple fracture criterion, to investigate the stability of a uniformly moving intersonic crack, subjected to following loads.  相似文献

On the basis of the nonlinear stability theorem in the context of Arnol’s second theorem for the generalized Phillips model, nonlinear saturation of baroclinic instability in the generalized Phillips model is investigated. By choosing appropriate artificial stable basic flows, the upper bounds on the disturbance energy and potential enstrophy to the nonlinearly unstable basic flow in the generalized Phillips model are obtained, which are analytic completely and without the limitation of infinitesimal initial disturbance.  相似文献

The paper not only studies the noise reduction methods of chaotic time series with noise and its reconstruction techniques,but also discusses prediction techniques of chaotic time series and its applications based on chaotic data noise reduction.In the paper,we first decompose the phase space of chaotic time series to range space and null noise space.Secondly we restructure original chaotic time series in range space.Lastly on the basis of the above,we establish order of the nonlinear model and make use of the nonlinear model to predict some research.The result indicates that the nonlinear model has very strong ability of approximation function,and Chaos predict method has certain tutorial significance to the practical problems.  相似文献

采用高精度的多介质Ghost-Fluid方法,对马赫数为1.15的激波分别作用于单模大扰动Air-CO2、Air-SF6、Air-N2和Air-He界面后的Richtmyer-Meshkov不稳定现象进行了数值研究,得到了不同时刻扰动界面的演化图像,给出了流场的密度等值线和密度纹影图,同实验结果吻合较好。给出了界面的扰动增长随时间变化的情况,并同理论模型进行了对比。对激波从轻气体进入重气体的情况,扰动增长可采用Sadot模型描述线性阶段和早期非线性阶段;对于弱激波同密度接近的气体界面的相互作用,线性阶段时间较长,可用线性模型描述。  相似文献

A single-mass two-degrees-of-freedom system is considered, witha radially oriented nonlinear restoring force. The latter is smooth andbecomes infinite at a certain value of a radial displacement. Stabilityanalysis is made for planar oscillation, or motion along a givendirection. As long as this motion is periodic, the nonlinearity in therestoring force provides a periodic parametric excitation in thetransverse direction. The linearized stability analysis is reduced tostudy of the Mathieu equation for the (infinitesimal) motions in thetransverse direction. For the case of free oscillations in the givendirection an exact solution is obtained, since a specific analyticalform is used for the (strongly nonlinear) restoring force, which permitsexplicit integration of the equation of motion. Stability of the planarmotion in this case is shown to be very sensitive to even slightdeviations from polar symmetry in the restoring force (as well as to theamplitude of oscillations in the given direction). Numerical integrationof the original equations of motion shows the resulting motion to be awhirling type indeed in case of the transversal instability. For thecase of a sinusoidal forcing in the given direction solution for the(periodic) response is obtained by Krylov–Bogoliubov averaging. Thisresults in the transmitted Ince–Strutt chart – namely, stabilitychart for transverse direction on the amplitude-frequency plane of theexcitation in the original direction.  相似文献

Studying the evolution of 3D disturbances is of crucial theoretical importance for understanding the transition process. The present study concerns the nonlinear evolution of second mode unstable disturbances in a supersonic boundary layer by the numerical simulation, and discusses the selectivity of 3D disturbances and possibility to transition. The results indicate that a Klebanoff type nonlinear interaction between 2D and 3D disturbances with the same frequency may amplify a band of 3D disturbances centered at a finite spanwise wavenumber. That is, certain 3D disturbances can be selectively and rapidly amplified by the unstable 2D disturbances, and certain small-scale 3D structures will appear.  相似文献
