A series is called a pointwise universal trigonometric series if for any , there exists a strictly increasing sequence of positive integers such that converges to f(z) pointwise on . We find growth conditions on coefficients allowing and forbidding the existence of a pointwise universal trigonometric series. We introduce the bimodal logic , which is the extension of Bennett’s bimodal logic by Grzegorczyk’s axiom ((pp)→p)→p and show that the lattice of normal extensions of the intuitionistic modal logic WS5 is isomorphic to the lattice of normal extensions of , thus generalizing the Blok–Esakia theorem. We also introduce the intuitionistic modal logic WS5.C, which is the extension of WS5 by the axiom (p¬p)→(pp), and the bimodal logic , which is the extension of Shehtman’s bimodal logic by Grzegorczyk’s axiom, and show that the lattice of normal extensions of WS5.C is isomorphic to the lattice of normal extensions of .  相似文献

Dales asked if every function has a point of feeble continuity. Our aim in this short note is to show that (assuming the Continuum Hypothesis) the answer is ‘no’. The problem of finding the correct asymptotic rate of approximation by polynomial loops in dependence of the smoothness of the elements of a loop group seems not well-understood in general. For matrix Lie groups such as , it can be viewed as a problem of nonlinearly constrained trigonometric approximation. Motivated by applications to optical FIR filter design and control, we present some initial results for the case of -loops, N≥2. In particular, using representations via the exponential map and first order splitting methods, we prove that the best approximation of an -loop belonging to a Hölder–Zygmund class , α>1/2, by a polynomial -loop of degree ≤n is of the order O(nα/(1+α)) as n. Although this approximation rate is not considered final, to our knowledge it is the first general, nontrivial result of this type.  相似文献

An asymptotic expansion of the distribution of Student’s t type statistic based on the multivariate standardized or studentized sample mean vector is obtained by making use of an Edgeworth expansion up to the order O(N−2), where N is sample size and Student’s t type transformation is defined by for any , . It turns out that a t-approximation to Student’s t type statistic based on the studentized sample mean vector has the error o(N), if a certain spherical population has at least 4(+1)th moment, where =0,1,2. This paper concerns the existence of a steadily translating bubble in a Hele–Shaw cell for small but non-zero surface tension 2. We rigorously conclude that for bubble velocity U relative to the fluid velocity at infinity in the interval (1,2), analytic symmetric solutions exist in the asymptotic limit of surface tension 2→0 if and only if the Stokes constant for a relatively simple nonlinear differential equation is zero. Bayesian networks are graphical tools used to represent a high-dimensional probability distribution. They are used frequently in machine learning and many applications such as medical science. This paper studies whether the concept classes induced by a Bayesian network can be embedded into a low-dimensional inner product space. We focus on two-label classification tasks over the Boolean domain. For full Bayesian networks and almost full Bayesian networks with n variables, we show that VC dimension and the minimum dimension of the inner product space induced by them are 2n-1. Also, for each Bayesian network we show that if the network constructed from by removing Xn satisfies either (i) is a full Bayesian network with n-1 variables, i is the number of parents of Xn, and i<n-1 or (ii) is an almost full Bayesian network, the set of all parents of Xn PAn={X1,X2,Xn3,…,Xni} and 2i<n-1. Our results in the paper are useful in evaluating the VC dimension and the minimum dimension of the inner product space of concept classes induced by other Bayesian networks.  相似文献
