An analytical expression for calculating the signal output power of an optical parametric generator (OPG) configuration was developed. The model is based on Heisenberg equations in space and radiation mode theory. A simple analytical expression can be obtained by assuming that all modes within the gain bandwidth of the nonlinear crystal have the same gain and the same interaction length. Another derivation considers the gain and interaction length of each individual mode. The model predictions are in excellent agreement with the measured signal power of OPGs based on 25- and 35-mm periodically poled LiNbO3 crystal (with effective quadratic nonlinearity of ∼14.5 pm/V) and 47-mm periodically poled LiTaO3 crystal (with effective quadratic nonlinearity of ∼9 pm/V). In addition, a comparison was made between the summation over discrete modes approach and the traditional approach of continuous integration over the beam parameters and pump frequency. We have found that the first approach, which is developed in this paper, predicts more accurately the output power of the OPG.  相似文献

The influence of the modal composition (transverse modes of a single longitudinal mode) of the laser radiation on the oscillation dynamics of a CO2-laser with a saturable absorber in the cavity is investigated. Passive Q-switching in initiation of the fundamental mode TEM00 and the modes of the first family TEM01 and TEM10 is considered. It is established that in the case of multimode oscillations sequences of single pulses with an irregular change in their amplitude can be observed. The multimode oscillations obtained are compared with similar single-mode oscillations, and their special features and differences are discussed. We consider the preconditions for efficient operation of the relativistic Čerenkov microwave generator in the absence of an external guiding magnetic field. The analytical expression for the length of propagation of a solid cylindrical electron beam along the drift tube is obtained in the framework of the paraxial approximation. The influence of preliminary modulation of the electron beam on the starting current of the generator and its linear efficiency is analyzed. We calculated the geometry of a relativistic Čerenkov microwave generator with an efficiency of about 30%, in which the solid cylindrical electron beam propagates over a short resonance decelerating system (with the length L ≈ 3λ, where λ is the radiation wavelength) in the absence of an external magnetic field. In experiments, the efficiency of power conversion from the high-current electron beam into the electromagnetic radiation of the E01 mode reached 8%, approximately (relative to the total current of the vacuum diode), for a power of 1.2 ± 0.3 GW and a generation frequency of 4.06 GHz. __________ Translated from Izvestiya Vysshikh Uchebnykh Zavedenii, Radiofizika, Vol. 49, No. 10, pp. 829–836, October 2006.  相似文献

We present the results of experimental studies of controlling the spectrum and Q-factors of modes in an open resonator with a conducting cylindrical insert. The phenomenon of an increase in the diffraction Q-factor is experimentally observed for the fundamental TEM00q mode for two resonant diameters of the conducting cylindrical insert located inside the open resonator. The features of excitation of modes in an open resonator with smooth cylindrical finite-length mirrors and in an open resonator with cutoff bevels at the mirror edges are studied. The cross-focusing of two co-axial transverse modes of a laser beam viz. TEM00 and TEM01 modes of the same frequency in a non-linear dielectric has been studied. When the TEM00 mode is stronger than the TEM01 mode, both modes focus on the axis. In the opposite case, defocusing occurs at the axis and energy concentrates in a ring.  相似文献

It is shown that high-accuracy contact-free measurements of the divergence and emittance of an accelerated H ion beam at the exit from the source can in principle be performed by passive Doppler spectroscopy of a beam of excited hydrogen atoms produced by neutralization of the ions with excitation on the residual gas in the source channel. The intensity of the Hα-line radiation detected by the Doppler system is calculated, taking into account the principal processes leading to the excitation and deexcitation of the 3s, 3p, and 3d levels of the hydrogen atoms in the beam, for residual gas densities of the order of 10−4–10−5 Torr in the source channel. The computed Hα-line intensity was confirmed experimentally, making it possible to perform photoelectronic detection of the spectral contour of the line in the current mode rather than the photon-counting mode. Experimental results concerning the interaction of a modulated electron beam with a magnetoactive plasma in the whistler frequency range are reported. It was shown experimentally that when a beam is injected into the plasma, waves can be generated by two possible mechanisms: Cherenkov emission of whistlers by the modulated beam, and transition radiation from the beam injection point. In the case of weak beam currents (N b/N 0)≪−4) the Cherenkov resonance radiation is more than an order of magnitude stronger than the transition radiation; the Cherenkov emission efficiency decreases at high beam currents. The transformation of the distribution function of the beam is investigated for the case of weak beam currents. It is shown that in the case of the Cherenkov interaction with whistlers the beam is retarded and the beam distribution function becomes wider and acquires a plateau region. Pis’ma Zh. éksp. Teor. Starting conditions for generation and features of oscillation establishment in a relativistic diffraction generator for different beam current values are numerically studied using the matrix multimode method. The efficiency boost and generation frequency stabilization are found to arise at overlap of two electron mechanisms—excitation of the fundamental oscillation of the system in the region of the 2π-type frequencies with a resonance near the cutoff frequency of the bulk mode nearest to the 2π type in a smooth waveguide.  相似文献

We consider the spectral evolution of transverse modes in free electron lasers. While the gain maxima of the various transverse modes occur at different frequencies, coupling between the modes via the electron beam causes the modes to shift frequency such that the final laser frequency differs from what one would expect if only the TEM00 mode were present. This can strongly effect the turn-on behavior in lasers with short electron pulses.  相似文献

固体激光器在强抽运的条件下,激光晶体热透镜的球差效应是不容忽视的,尤其是在大基模体积的动态稳定腔中,会影响谐振腔的振荡模式,进而影响腔内损耗和输出功率.通过Fox-Li的衍射迭代算法,分析了谐振腔的自再现模,表明在热透镜球差效应作用下,基模的光强分布出现了旁瓣,并由此带来了光束质量的下降,最后通过实验结果验证了理论分析,指出光束填充因子是激光器设计的一个重要因素,其最佳值需要根据球差效应的强弱,通过实验的方法来确定. 关键词: 热透镜 球差效应 谐振腔模式  相似文献

The excitation of electromagnetic pulses is examined in various generation schemes. The physical mechanism for excitation of the radiation is studied and the field from transition radiation by high current relativistic electron beams is analyzed. An analysis of the efficiency of the various generation schemes shows that the electron efficiency of beam radiators based on transition radiation may be quite substantial for beam parameters that are easily realized experimentally. To obtain single transversal mode oscillation of a laser oscillator a pinhole has to be inserted into the resonator. This causes diffraction losses, comparable with the internal losses of the laser system. For a pulsed Nd-YAG-laser, the total losses and the diffraction losses are determined experimentally as a function of the Fresnel number for TEM00 and TEM01 mode. The agreement between the experimental values and numerical data from diffraction theory is satisfying.  相似文献

The grazing mode of microwave propagation in a hollow plasma waveguide formed by ionization of atmospheric air with a small easily ionized additive by strong UV pulses of the Garpun KrF laser (λ = 248 nm, the pulse duration and energy are ∼70 ns and ∼50 J) was experimentally demonstrated for the first time. The annular laser beam produced a hollow tube ∼10 cm in diameter with an electron density of ∼1012 cm−3 in a plasma wall ∼1 cm thick, over whichmicrowave radiation with λ mw ∼ 8 mm was transmitted to a distance of 60 m. Themicrowave signal transmitted by the waveguide was amplified by a factor of 6 in comparison with propagation in free space.  相似文献

A Nd:YAG rod active element placed inside a resonator was pumped by the second harmonic radiation (the wavelength =0.532 m) of a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser diffracted at a circular aperture. Various distributions of pumping intensity in the Fresnel (near-field) region along the direction of the pump beam diffraction were produced. Inversion profiles with maxima or minima at the resonator axis were formed in the active element, depending on its distance from the circular aperture. Gain-switched operation of the Nd:YAG rod laser at =1.064 m is reported at the fundamental mode and also at the TEM01, TEM01* and other higher-order modes for different positions of the active element in the near-field region. Applications of such diffractive optical pumping for the concentration of the pumping radiation into the active media and for laser beam profling are discussed. © 2004 The Optical Society of Japan  相似文献

We present the results of laboratory experiments in which the mechanisms of interaction of electron beams with whistler waves in a magnetoplasma are studied. Different mechanisms of whistler generation during the injection of a modulated electron beam in the plasma are studied, and the mechanism of conversion of the beam kinetic energy to radiation is demonstrated. The processes of whistler wave generation by the modulated beam at the ˇ Cerenkov and Doppler resonances are analyzed in detail. The excitation of whistler waves by means of a nonresonant mechanism of the transition radiation is studied.  相似文献

We present a compact efficient scheme for generation of high-order Laguerre–Gaussian TEM p,0 modes in a diode-pumped actively Q-switched Nd:YVO4 laser. The resonator is composed of two plane mirrors with an intracavity concave lens to expand the cavity mode size for generating a high-power Laguerre–Gaussian TEM5,0 mode. We further confirm that the TEM5,0 mode is noticeably superior to the TEM0,0 mode in the processes of second and third harmonic generations.  相似文献
