Two phase transitions are revealed for the first time in Ag3Sc2(PO4)3 single crystals in the vicinity of the temperatures 303 and 165–180 K. It is established that the phase transition at 303 K corresponds to the well-known phase transition to the superionic state in Na3Sc2(PO4)3 single crystals in the temperature range 423–433 K, whereas the phase transition observed in the temperature range 170–180 K corresponds to the phase transition from the rhombohedral to monoclinic phase at about 320 K in the monoclinic Na3Sc2(PO4)3 single crystals. In this paper we present the study of the acoustic phonons propagating in Er3+‐doped KGd(WO4)2 single crystals by Brillouin spectroscopy. For the investigated crystals the velocities of the longitudinal and transverse acoustic phonons [100], [010], [001], [101] and [110] have been determined. Moreover, the values of the elastic constants: C22, C44 and C66 of Er3+‐doped KGd(WO4)2 single crystals have been estimated. It was revealed that the presence of the Er3+‐ions in KGd(WO4)2 crystals, for the used doping concentration 1 at% does not influence their elastic properties. (© 2009 WILEY‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. On the basis of the known data on the (NH4)H2PO4-KCl-KNO3-H2O system, 65.0 × 9.0 × 8.0-mm3-large crystals of the [K0.75(NH4)0.25]H2PO4 solid solutions are grown on seed by the method of temperature decrease. The growth conditions of pure and Cr3+-doped Al2−xInx(WO4)3 single crystals, using top-seeded solution growth (TSSG) technique, have been studied. A series of experiments have been performed at different In concentrations, x=0.0, 0.3, 0.6 and 1.0, as well as at different concentrations of Cr3+ (0.0, 0.1, 0.2, 0.5 and 1.0) in at% with respect to the initial total concentration of Al and In in the starting solutions. The basic parameters of the crystal growth are varied over a wide range: seed orientation, speed of rotation, axial and radial temperature differences in the solution and the solution cooling rate. The investigated relations between the basic defects in the crystals and these parameters result in determination of the optimal conditions for growth of defect-free crystals. Distribution coefficients of Al, In and Cr have been determined, so the growth of crystals with given compositions is possible. Values of Dq/B (crystal field strength) for the various crystal compositions are calculated from the optical absorption spectra. The calculated values show that the discussed solid solutions have weak crystal field and are suitable for media with broadband emission spectra.  相似文献

The results of a study of KGd(WO4)2 single crystals by Brillouin scattering method are presented. The Brillouin spectra for the acoustic phonons propagating in the [100], [010], [001], [110] and [101] directions, taken in 90° and 180° scattering geometry at room temperature have been recorded. Using the Brillouin spectroscopy the refractive indices for some directions of KGd(WO4)2 crystals were determined. The refractive indices were also calculated for the same directions by the rotation transformation of the principal optical axes of the optical indicatrix to the crystallographic directions of KGd(WO4)2 crystals. The crystallization conditions for the NaH2PO4, NaH2PO4 · H2O, and NaH2PO4 · 2H2O solid phases have been established from the analysis of the phase diagram of solubility of the ternary Na2O-P2O5-H2O system in the temperature range from 0 to 100°C. Based on these data, the methods for growing sodium dihydrogenphosphate single crystals of the above compositions are developed. The initial components for preparing mother solutions were H3PO4 and NaOH solutions taken in certain weight ratios. For the first time, NaDP, NaDP · H2O, and NaDP · 2H2O single crystals were grown on a seed by the method of temperature decrease. A series of bismuth tungsten tellurite glasses were prepared and their densities, linear refractive indices and transmission spectra were measured. The optical bandgaps Eopt and Urbach energies Ee of glasses were obtained from ultraviolet absorption edges. Both the optical gap (Eopt) and the band tail (Ee) are behaving oppositely. As the value of Eopt decreases with increasing WO3 content, the degree of disorder increases which causes more defects or localized states resulting in deep localized in the bandgap with the tailing increased. Z-scan technique was carried out to investigate the third-order nonlinear optical properties of Bi2O3-WO3-TeO2 glasses. The third-order optical nonlinearity increases with decreasing the optical bandgap Eopt, since a increase of WO3 content can provide the non-bridging oxygen ion content.  相似文献

Tungstate fluorophosphate glass compositions with high WO3 concentration were prepared in the ternary system (80−0.8x)NaPO3-(20−0.2x)BaF2-xWO3 with x = 40,50 and 60 mol%. Transparency decreases as WO3 concentration increases but can be improved by addition of oxidizing systems such as CeO2 or Sb2O3/NaNO3. Characterizations by thermal analysis (DSC) point out that an increase in the amount of WO3 results in a higher glass transition temperature. In addition, such compositions are very stable against devitrification since samples containing 40% and 50% of WO3 donot even exhibit the expected crystallization event. In these samples, the stability against crystallization decreases with the WO3 content and vitreous sample containing 60% of WO3 exhibits an endothermic event around 620 °C due to crystallization of monoclinic WO3 phase. In these glasses, it was shown that the nucleation stage can be induced by thermal-treatment when external nucleating agents such as Ti or Sb are used. Finally, gold-doped samples exhibit a higher crystallization tendency and monoclinic WO3 phase can be grown in such glasses.  相似文献

The Me 2O-P2O5-H2O solubility phase diagrams are used to determine the optimum compositions and the temperatures for growing crystals of MeH2PO4 solid phases (Me = Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, NH4). The optimum conditions for dynamic growth of dihydrophosphates of the elements of the first group and ammonium are determined. Viscosity of (GeSe2)x(Sb2Se3)1−x undercooled melts (x = 0.4-0.8) was measured using parallel-plate method and penetration method. By using these two techniques viscosity of the whole measurable region of undercooled melt and of the part of glass region can be measured. In this relatively broad viscosity interval (seven orders of magnitude) all measured samples show Newtonian behavior and the dependence of their viscosity on temperature can be described by a simple Arrhenius equation. The kinetic fragilities calculated from these dependencies show similar compositional dependence as heat capacity changes at glass transition measured by DSC.  相似文献

Ga3PO7 crystal with size 18×15×12 mm3 and good optical quality has been grown by the top-seeded solution growth (TSSG) slow-cooling method from a Li2O–3MoO3 flux system. The Vickers microhardness and optical properties of the as-grown Ga3PO7 crystal have been carefully studied. The results show that the Ga3PO7 crystal belongs to the harder materials, and Meyer's index numbers for (1 1 0) and (0 0 1) planes were about 1.45 and 1.60, respectively. The Ga3PO7 crystal has a wide transmission range from 215 to 4300 nm. The smaller difference between the refractive indices values of no and ne indicated that the Ga3PO7 crystal is an optically uniaxial negative crystal.  相似文献

Single crystals of Ytterbium doped KGd(WO4)2 were grown by Top Seeded Solution Growth technique using K2WO4 as flux system. The growth parameters were optimised to get optically transparent crystals. Variation in the lattice parameters were observed in comparison to the pure KGd(WO4)2 crystals. The absorption spectra recorded for the Yb:KGW confirms the material suitability for diode pumped solid state lasers. The vibrational studies carried out using spontaneous Raman spectra indicate the strong anionic vibration of the material. PL spectra show the lasing channel of the laser active ions present. The optical properties of a biaxial absorbing KGd(WO4)2:Nd3+ crystal have been investigated. The main refractive indices were measured in the visible spectral range and the absorption and transmission spectra of samples of these crystals were studied. The changes in the refractive indices were in the region of the absorption bands with the use of the Kramers-Kronig relation. Conoscopic pictures of this crystal in the regions of transparency and absorption bands were calculated and are presented.  相似文献

Glasses were prepared by the melt-quenching method in the ternary system Pb(PO3)2-WO3-PbF2 and doped with Er3+ in order to prepare luminescent transparent glass-ceramics. This work focused on thermal and structural characterization of tungsten lead-phosphate glasses and crystallization study for preparing transparent glass-ceramics. Thermal properties such as thermal stability and crystallization behavior upon heating were investigated by DSC in function of PbF2 content. For low PbF2 concentrations, only one crystallization peak due to Pb3(PO4)2 is observed whereas samples containing more than 15% of PbF2 present another exothermic event at lower temperatures related with precipitation of PbF2, Pb2P2O7 and Pb2OF2. Structural investigations by Raman spectroscopy suggest that PbF2 modifies the tungsten-phosphate network through the formation of P―F and P―O―Pb bonds but the average network connectivity remains almost constant. A crystallization study has been performed by DSC to investigate the dominant crystallization mechanisms in these glasses and it has been established that Pb3(PO4)2 is nucleated on the surface whereas PbF2, Pb2P2O7 and Pb2OF2 crystallize dominantly from the glassy bulk. Transparent glass-ceramics containing nanosized PbF2 crystallites were also prepared by suitable heat-treatment on the glass sample containing 20% of PbF2 and Raman microscopy of these glass-ceramics supports the crystallization mechanisms determined by DSC.  相似文献

The bulk single crystals of low-dimensional magnet (CH3)2NH2CuCl3 (DMACuCl3 or MCCL) are grown by a slow evaporation method with different kinds of solvents, different degrees of super-saturation of solution and different temperatures of solution, respectively. Among three kinds of solvent, methanol, alcohol and water, alcohol is found to be the best one for growing MCCL crystals because of its structural similarity to the raw materials and suitable evaporation rate. The best growth temperature is in the vicinity of 35 °C. The problem of the crystals deliquescing in air has been solved through recrystallization process. The crystals are characterized by means of X-ray diffraction, specific heat and magnetic susceptibility.  相似文献

Orthorhombic Fe5(PO4)4(OH)3·2H2O single crystalline dendritic nanostructures have been synthesized by a facile and reproducible hydrothermal method without the aid of any surfactants. The influences of synthetic parameters, such as reaction time, temperature, the amount of H2O2 solution, pH values, and types of iron precursors, on the crystal structures and morphologies of the resulting products have been investigated. The formation process of Fe5(PO4)4(OH)3·2H2O dendritic nanostructures is time dependent: amorphous FePO4·nH2O nanoparticles are formed firstly, and then Fe5(PO4)4(OH)3·2H2O dendrites are assembled via a crystallization-orientation attachment process, accompanying a color change from yellow to green. The shapes and sizes of Fe5(PO4)4(OH)3·2H2O products can be controlled by adjusting the amount of H2O2 solution, pH values, and types of iron precursors in the reaction system.  相似文献

Crystals grown from a solution of dimethylammonium and copper chlorides are studied using electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) and X-ray diffraction. The dielectric properties of the crystals grown are measured. It is established that the crystals have the composition [(CH3)2NH2]2CuCl4[(CH3)2NH2]Cl and, in phase I at room temperature, are described by the orthorhombic space group Pna21 with the unit cell parameters a = 11.338 Å, b = 9.981 Å, and c = 15.675 Å.
