A theory of acoustic self-induced transparency of a two-component vector soliton for a generalized Love wave is constructed. The three-layer system contains a resonance transition layer with paramagnetic impurity atoms or quantum dots. It is shown that, under these conditions, a vector soliton of the generalized Love wave can be formed. It oscillates at the sum and difference frequencies in the vicinity of the carrier wave frequency. Explicit analytical expressions for the parameters of a nonlinear surface acoustic wave are presented. The parameters depend on the elastic properties of the contacting media, the resonance transition layer, and the transverse structure of the wave. Numerical calculations are carried out for the three-layer Al2O3/ZnO/SiO2 system. The significant difference between the two-component vector soliton and singlecomponent soliton is shown.  相似文献

We present the experimental observation of a spatial vector soliton formed by counterpropagation of coherent optical fields. This is to our knowledge the first observation of a vector soliton in which the induced waveguide (potential) is periodic in the propagation direction. This vector soliton induces a waveguide and a thick grating within the waveguide, which can be used as a tunable optical waveguide filter.  相似文献

We present experimental results on one-dimensional (1-D) spatial solitons in AlGaAs waveguides. Three distinct types of spatial solitons have been observed: namely the fundamental soliton, the Manakov soliton, and the vector soliton. The fundamental soliton is the simplest form of 1-D soliton which consists of a single polarization. The properties of waveguiding and ‘robustness’ are experimentally studied. Vector solitons which result from the complex interplay between the two orthogonally polarized beams due to self-phase modulation, cross-phase modulation, and four-wave mixing effects are studied. The complex beam dynamics and polarization behaviour of the vector solitons are experimentally studied. Manakov solitons which are a special case of the vector soliton exist when the ratio between the self-to-cross-phase modulation is one and the four-wave mixing effects becomes zero are demonstrated experimentally and the basic properties discussed. Finally, some soliton interactions such as trapping and dragging are reported and possible applications of soliton interactions are discussed.  相似文献

We find a new type of optical vector soliton that originates from trapping of a dipole mode by the soliton-induced waveguides. These solitons, which appear as a consequence of the vector nature of the two-component system, are more stable than the previously found optical vortex solitons and represent a new type of extremely robust nonlinear vector structure.  相似文献

We report on the experimental observation of a new type of polarization-locked vector soliton in a passively mode-locked fiber laser. The vector soliton is characterized by the fact that not only are the two orthogonally polarized soliton components phase-locked, but also one of the components has a double-humped intensity profile. Multiple phase-locked high-order vector solitons with identical soliton parameters and harmonic mode locking of the vector solitons were also obtained in the laser. Numerical simulations confirmed the existence of stable high-order vector solitons in the fiber laser.  相似文献

The Rabi coupling between two components of Bose-Einstein condensates is used to controllably change ordinary dark soliton into dynamic vector dark soliton or ordinary vector dark soliton. When all inter- and intraspecies interactions are equal, the dynamic vector dark soliton is exactly constructed by two sub-dark-solitons, which oscillate with the same velocity and periodically convert with each other. When the interspecies interactions deviate from the intraspecies ones, the whole soliton can maintain its essential shape, but the sub-dark-soliton becomes inexact or is broken. This study indicates that the Rabi coupling can be used to obtain various vector dark solitons.  相似文献

We show experimentally that the two-component multimode spatial optical vector soliton, i.e., a two-hump self-guided laser beam, exhibits in Kerr media a sharp space-inversion symmetry-breaking instability. The experiment is performed in a CS2 planar waveguide using the orthogonal circular polarization states of light as the two components of the vector soliton.  相似文献

A soliton geometry is introduced on manifolds with arbitrary dimensions. The usual soliton connection 1-form defined by Crampin et al. is recovered when the soldering form is a 0-form. It is shown that Einstein's vacuum field equations admit a soliton connection and a soldering 1-form. An associated linear equation with a spectral parameter of Einstein's vacuum field equations are found and some properties of this equation are explored. An example of a Bäcklund transformation is also given.  相似文献

The dynamics of dark-bright vector solitons is investigated in a birefringent fiber with the high-order dispersions, and their effects on vector soliton propagation and interaction are analyzed using the numerical method. The combined role of the high-order dispersions, such as the third-order dispersion (TOD) and the fourth-order dispersion (FOD),may cause various deformation of the vector soliton and enhance interaction. These effects depend strictly on the sign of the high-order dispersions. Results indicate that the disadvantageous effects can be reduced effectively via proper mapping of the high-order dispersions.  相似文献

We study the collision of two orthogonally polarized and equal-amplitude vector solitons in the nonintegrable coupled nonlinear Schrodinger equations. We show that the separation velocity versus collision velocity graph has a fractal structure. When we zoom into this graph, we get a structure qualitatively identical to the original one. In addition, collision dynamics in the zoomed-in windows is intimately related to that in the original graph. We explain this fractal dependence of the collision by a resonance mechanism between the translational motion of vector solitons and internal oscillations inside a vector soliton.  相似文献

A theory of an optical vector soliton of self-induced transparency in an ensemble of semiconductor quantum dots is considered. By using the perturbative reduction method, the system of the Maxwell–Liouville equations is reduced to the two-component coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations. It is shown that a distribution of transition dipole moments of the quantum dots and phase modulation changes significantly the pulse parameters. The shape of the optical two-component vector soliton with the sum and difference of the frequencies in the region of the carrier frequency is presented. The vector soliton can be reduced to the breather solution of self-induced transparency with a different profile. Explicit analytical expressions in the presence of single-excitonic and biexcitonic transitions for the optical vector soliton are obtained with realistic parameters which can be reached in current experiments.  相似文献

We investigate domain wall and domain structure in a monolyer film consisting of ferromagnetic grains with biaxial anisotropy, which are seen to be the static versions of instanton and soliton, respectively. The equation of motion of the magnetization vector is reduced to the (1 + 2)-dimensional sine-Gordon field equation in strong anisotropy limit and the instanton and soliton configurations are obtained analytically. Various new domain structures in the ferromagnetic film are found.  相似文献

We report on the first experimental observation of a novel type of optical vector soliton, a dipole-mode soliton, recently predicted theoretically. We show that these vector solitons can be generated in a photorefractive medium employing two different processes: a phase imprinting, and a symmetry-breaking instability of a vortex-mode vector soliton. The experimental results display remarkable agreement with the theory, and confirm the robust nature of these radially asymmetric two-component solitary waves.  相似文献

Soliton dynamics is studied in a compressed ferromagnetic chain having anisotropy of the “easy plane” type. It is shown that there exists a soliton wave of lattice deformation which follows the magnetic soliton. Two models are considered for the connection between deformation and spins. The soliton renormalization constant is found. The effect of lattice anharmonicity is studied.  相似文献

Vector-soliton collisions in birefringent nonlinear optical fibers are investigated. The underlying mathematical model is the non-integrable coupled nonlinear Schrödinger equations. It is shown that the exit velocity versus collision velocity graph has a fractal structure. When we zoom into different positions of this fractal, we get structures which are either a copy, a horizontal reflection or vertical reflection of the original structure. Collision dynamics in the zoomed-in windows and that in the original graph follow simple and well-defined patterns as well. We explain this fractal dependence of the collision by a novel resonance mechanism between translational motion of vector solitons and radiation modes which cause internal oscillations inside a vector soliton.  相似文献

We report on the experimental observation of induced solitons in a passively mode-locked fiber ring laser with a birefringence cavity. Owing to the cross coupling between the two orthogonal polarization components of the laser, it was found that if a soliton was formed along one cavity polarization axis, a weak soliton was also induced along the orthogonal polarization axis, and depending on the net cavity birefringence, the induced soliton could have either the same or different center wavelengths to that of the inducing soliton. Moreover, the induced soliton always had the same group velocity as that of the inducing soliton. They formed a vector soliton in the cavity. Numerical simulations confirmed the experimental observations.  相似文献

The soliton molecule is achieved in nonlinear polarization rotation fiber laser. The structure of soliton molecule is heterogeneous diatomic molecule. The soliton molecule originates from the splitting of the high energy soliton. The dips of the soliton molecule spectra show that there is the interaction between the constituents of the soliton molecule, resulting in that the constituents are in the bound state as a unit. The laser bias can change the fine structure of the soliton molecule, which can be observed in the autocorrelator and oscilloscope.  相似文献

The vector Maxwell equations for the first-and second-harmonic planar beams are solved with allowance made for the nonlinear diffraction that weakens quadratic nonlinearity. The structure of the transverse and longitudinal components of the electromagnetic field of a parametric soliton is calculated for different values of the wave vector and phase mismatch. Exact analytic expressions are obtained for the self-similar profiles of extremally narrow solitons, and it is shown that the width has a fundamental limit of the order of a wavelength in a linear medium.  相似文献

We studied the optical solitons in nonlinear resonant and nonresonant media in the presence of perturbations, assuming that the transient effects are stimulated by the light scanning beam. We treated a slight deviation from the exact necessary condition for the soliton existence (2betanu=1), as a small perturbation for the integrable system, studying its influence upon the soliton propagation conditions. The approximation is constructed by the help of an algebraic version of the soliton perturbation theory using a Riemann boundary problem in connection with the inverse scattering method. We have obtained the soliton equation and we have solved it in the presence of a small perturbation in the adiabatic approximation. In this case we have demonstrated that for a Lorentz profile line the amplitude of the soliton remains unchanged, the only effect of the perturbation results in a phase shift.  相似文献

We report the experimental observation of temporal vector soliton propagation and collision in a linearly birefringent optical fiber. To the best of the authors' knowledge, this is both the first demonstration of temporal vector solitons with two mutually incoherent component fields, and of vector soliton collisions in a Kerr nonlinear medium. Collisions are characterized by an intensity redistribution between the two components, and the experimental results agree with numerical predictions of the coupled nonlinear Schr?dinger equation.  相似文献
