Magnetization reversal modes in a thin-film NiFeCuMo ferromagnet (FM) with periodically varying in-plane anisotropy are studied by the magneto-optical indicator film (MOIF) technique. The uni-directional anisotropy in FM regions exchange-coupled to a FeMn antiferromagnet (AFM) film in the form of square mesh stripes is alternated by the uniaxial anisotropy in the FM regions inside this mesh. It is shown that the boundaries formed along the edges of these stripes, which separate FM regions with different anisotropy, crucially influence the kinetics of domain-structure transformation in both types of FM regions. It is established that the lateral exchange anisotropy in the ferromagnet, which is determined by the stabilization of the spin distribution in the FM layer along the FM-(FM/AFM) interface, leads to the asymmetry of the magnetization reversal in FM regions bordered with an FM/AFM structure. Anisotropy of the mobility of 180-degree “charged” and “uncharged” domain walls situated, respectively, perpendicular and parallel to the unidirectional anisotropy axis is revealed. The difference observed between the mobilities of charged and uncharged domain walls is attributed to the difference in the spin distribution in these walls with respect to the unidirectional anisotropy axis and is a key factor for the difference between the magnetization reversal kinetics in horizontal and vertical exchange-biased FM stripes. Drastic differences are revealed in the asymmetry of magnetization reversal processes in mutually perpendicular narrow stripes of FM/AFM structures. Possible mechanisms of magnetization reversal in low-dimensional FM-(FM/AFM) heterostructures are discussed with regard to the effect of domain walls localized on the edges of AFM layers.  相似文献

The curves of pulsed magnetization reversal in iron garnet films with easy-plane anisotropy are studied. Magnetization reversal is initiated by a pulsed magnetic field aligned with the axis of biaxial anisotropy lying in the plane of the film. The curves exhibit kinks at fields close to the effective field of biaxial anisotropy. Magnetization reversal mechanisms in fields above and below the inflection point are discussed.  相似文献

L1(0) FePt is an important material for the fabrication of high density perpendicular recording media, but the ultrahigh coercivity of L1(0) FePt restricts its use. Tilting of the magnetic easy axis and the introduction of a soft magnetic underlayer can solve this problem. However, high temperature processing and the requirement of epitaxial growth conditions for obtaining an L1(0) FePt phase are the main hurdles to be overcome. Here, we introduce a bilayered magnetic structure ((111) L1(0) FePt/glassy Fe(71)Nb(4)Hf(3)Y(2)B(20)/SiO(2)/Si) in which the magnetic easy axis of L1(0) FePt is tilted by ~36° from the film plane and epitaxial growth conditions are not required. The soft magnetic underlayer not only promotes the growth of L1(0) FePt with the preferred orientation but also provides an easy cost-effective micro/nanopatterning of recording bits. A detailed magnetic characterization of the bilayered structure in which the thickness of (111) L1(0) FePt with the soft magnetic Fe(71)Nb(4)Hf(3)Y(2)B(20) glassy underlayer varied from 5 to 60 nm is carried out in an effort to understand the magnetization switching mechanism. The magnetization switching behavior is almost the same for bilayered structures in which FePt layer thickness is >10 nm (greater than the domain wall thickness of FePt). For FePt film ~10 nm thick, magnetization reversal takes place in a very narrow field range. Magnetization reversal first takes place in the soft magnetic underlayer. On further increase in the reverse magnetic field, the domain wall in the soft magnetic layer compresses at the interface of the hard and soft layers. Once the domain wall energy becomes sufficiently large to overcome the nucleation energy of the domain wall in L1(0) FePt, the magnetization of the whole bilayer is reversed. This process takes place quickly because the domain walls in the hard layer do not need to move, and the formation of a narrower domain wall may not be favorable energetically. Our results showed that the present bilayered structure is very promising for the fabrication of tilted bit-patterned magnetic recording media.  相似文献

Ferroelectric transition has been detected in a ferrimagnetic spinel oxide of CoCr2O4 upon the transition to the conical spin order below 25 K. The direction [110] of the spontaneous polarization is normal to both the magnetization easy axis [001] and to the propagation axis [110] of the transverse spiral component, in accord with the prediction based on the spin-current model. The reversal of the spontaneous magnetization by a small magnetic field (approximately 0.1 T) induces the reversal of the spontaneous polarization, indicating the clamping of the ferromagnetic and ferroelectric domain walls.  相似文献

The current-induced magnetic switching is studied in Co/Cu/Co nanopillar with an in-plane magnetization traversed under the perpendicular-to-plane external field.Magnetization switching is found to take place when the current density exceeds a threshold.By analyzing precessional trajectories, evolutions of domain walls and magnetization switching times under the perpendicular magnetic field, there are two different magnetization switching modes:nucleation and domain wall motion reversal;uniform magnetization ...  相似文献

We have developed a method to fabricate ferromagnetic antidot arrays on silicon nitride membrane substrates for electron or soft X-ray microscopy with antidot periods ranging from 2 μm down to 200 nm. Observations of cobalt antidot arrays with magnetic soft X-ray microscopy show that for large periods, flux closure states occur between the antidots in the as-grown state and on application of a magnetic field, domain chains are created which show a spin configuration at the chain ends comprising four 90° walls. Pinning of the domain chain ends plays an important role in the magnetization reversal, determining the length of the chains and resulting in preservation of the domain chain configuration on reducing of the applied magnetic field to zero.  相似文献

The structure and energy of asymmetric vortex-like Bloch and Néel walls in a magnetically uniaxial film with an easy magnetization axis lying in the film plane are investigated by numerically minimizing the total energy within the rigorous micromagnetic approach and the two-dimensional model of the magnetization distribution. The calculations are performed over wide ranges of film thicknesses b (up to b = 1 μm) and magnetic parameters of the films. It is established that the asymmetric vortex-like domain walls are the most universal wall structures in the films under consideration. In magnetically uniaxial films, unlike in magnetically multiaxial films, the asymmetric Bloch walls are always stable.  相似文献

It is found that the magnetization reversal of an array of superthin Co films coupled by the ferromagnetic exchange interaction through the Ag layers may result in a domain structure of an unexpected new type. Due to the incoherent different-sense spin rotation upon lowering the field perpendicular to the easy axis, the specific macrodomains first form in a sample. They are separated not by the Neél domain wall but by a wide transition region containing high-density microdomains of sizes correlating with the grain sizes in the films. Further magnetization reversal proceeds through the formation of standard domain walls in the macrodomain in a magnetostatic field at the plate edge and through their shifting toward the transition region. These processes are explained with taking into account the character of the revealed magnetic anisotropy dispersion.  相似文献

The distribution of axes of easy magnetization close to a homogeneous distribution is revealed in each half-thickness of a ribbon after annealing it in a helical magnetic field. The transition from magnetic reversal of a ribbon by the displacement of two domain walls formed near a middle plane of a ribbon to magnetic reversal of a ribbon by displacement of two domain walls formed near to the main surfaces of a ribbon is found out during each half-period of a magnetic reversal.  相似文献

Artificial spin ice has been recently implemented in two-dimensional arrays of mesoscopic magnetic wires. We propose a theoretical model of magnetization dynamics in artificial spin ice under the action of an applied magnetic field. Magnetization reversal is mediated by domain walls carrying two units of magnetic charge. They are emitted by lattice junctions when the local field exceeds a critical value Hc required to pull apart magnetic charges of opposite sign. Positive feedback from Coulomb interactions between magnetic charges induces avalanches in magnetization reversal.  相似文献

A magneto-optical setup based on the transverse Kerr effect has been designed to study the magnetization reversal processes by vector magnetometry in arrays of magnetic nanostructures with a reduced total volume. This system allows the measurement of both the parallel and perpendicular to the field components of the magnetization. It has been used to analyze the behavior of amorphous Co x Si1-x lines fabricated by electron beam lithography that present a very well defined shape induced uniaxial anisotropy. When the field is applied near to the hard direction, coherent rotation processes are found to occur with a collapse of this reversal mode at fields very close to the hard axis that allows to estimate the very low anisotropy dispersion of these samples. The analysis of the vector hysteresis loops reveals that the magnetization switches via an incoherent process that starts prior to the Stoner-Wohlfarth instability and that can be described in terms of a localized curling-like reversal mode.Received: 16 June 2004, Published online: 24 September 2004PACS: 75.75. + a Magnetic properties of nanostructures - 75.60.Jk Magnetization reversal mechanisms - 75.50.Kj Amorphous and quasicrystalline magnetic materials  相似文献

The magnetization reversal process of Fe/MgO(001) thin film is investigated by combining transverse and longitudinal hysteresis loops. Owing to the competition between domain wall pinning energy and weak uniaxial magnetic anisotropy, the typical magnetization reversal process of Fe ultrathin film can take place via either an "l-jump" process near the easy axis, or a "2-jump" process near the hard axis, depending on the applied field orientation. Besides, the hysteresis loop presents strong asymmetry resulting from the variation of the detected light intensity due to the quadratic magneto-optic effect. Furthermore, we modify the detectable light intensity formula and simulate the hysteresis loops of the Kerr signal. The results show that they are in good agreement with the experimental data.  相似文献

The kinetics of magnetization reversal of a thin LSMO film has been studied for the first time. It is shown that the magnetic domain structure critically depends on the conditions of structure formation. In the demagnetized state (after zero-field cooling from T c ), a maze-like domain microstructure with perpendicular magnetization is formed in the film. However, after field cooling and/or saturating magnetization by a field of arbitrary orientation, the [110] direction of spontaneous magnetization in the film plane is stabilized; this pattern corresponds to macrodomains with in-plane magnetization. Further film magnetization reversal (both quasi-static and pulsed) from this state is implemented via nucleation and motion of 180° “head-to-head” domain walls. Upon pulse magnetization reversal, the walls “jump” at a distance proportional to the applied field strength and then undergo thermally activated drift. All dynamic characterisitcs critically depend on the temperature when the latter varies around the room temperature.  相似文献

The characteristic features of phase transitions induced by an external magnetic field and of the corresponding changes in the relative orientations of the spins in the ferromagnetic CoNiCu layers of a multilayer film, which are coupled by an antiferromagnetic exchange interaction via nonmagnetic Cu interlayers, are studied using a magnetooptic method for visualizing the fringing fields. It is established that the magnetization reversal process in this nanocomposite material proceeds by a spin-flop orientational phase transition on account of the formation and motion of specific domain walls as well as by incoherent rotation of the spins toward the applied field. It is shown that, depending on the direction of the external magnetic field with respect to the easy axis, asymmetric canted phases also arise as a result of such transitions. Pis’ma Zh. Tekh. The transformation of the domain structure of micrometer-thick films with variations in the induced uniaxial anisotropy constant with the easy magnetization axis perpendicular to the film surface has been investigated using numerical micromagnetic simulation in the framework of a two-dimensional model of the magnetization distribution. The case where the tetra-axial crystallographic anisotropy exists in the film with uniaxial magnetic anisotropy has been considered. The transformation of the open domain structure into the structure with a magnetic flux closed inside the sample has been investigated in detail, and new types of 109-degree and 90-degree vortex-like domain walls and periodic domain structures have been obtained.  相似文献

In experiments on single-domain magnetic films with uniaxial in-plane anisotropy, a new homogeneous ferromagnetic resonance peak was observed in a planar magnetic field oriented at an angle to the easy magnetization axis and directed opposite to the magnetization projection onto the field direction. The peak was observed in fields smaller than the magnetization reversal field of the film, and the origin of the peak was found to be related to the metastable state of the magnetic moment. A good agreement was obtained between phenomenological calculations and experimental data.  相似文献

The magnetization and magnetization reversal processes that occur through the mechanism of incoherent rotation of magnetic moments in cubic ferromagnets with limited sizes are investigated theoretically. It is established that the appropriate model representation of magnetic inhomogeneities arising in the region of defects is provided by 0° domain walls. The influence of the external magnetic field on the structure and the stability region of the 0° domain walls is determined. This makes it possible to reveal the characteristic features of the magnetization reversal of real crystals as a function of the material and defect parameters, in particular, in the vicinity of the spin-reorientation phase transition.  相似文献

Arrays of Co magnetic nanowires with hexagonal symmetry have been prepared by electrodeposition into self-aligned titania nanotubes membranes. The nanowires have been investigated by X-ray diffraction, SEM, and VSM magnetometry. Magnetization curves of arrays of Co wires indicate that the easy direction of magnetization is a direction perpendicular to the axis of the wire.  相似文献

Thin uniaxial ferromagnetic films with the easy-magnetization axis oriented perpendicularly to the film plane are considered. The process of ideal magnetization of films with a twisted unipolar periodic domain structure is investigated by computer simulation. It is shown that during film magnetization the degree of twistedness of domain walls decreases and the magnetic structure becomes domainless.  相似文献

The out-of-plane magnetic anisotropy and out-of-plane magnetization reversal process of nanoscale Ni80Fe20 antidot arrays deposited by magnetron sputtering technique on an anodic aluminum oxide (AAO) membrane are investigated. The angular dependence of out-of-plane remanent magnetization of Ni80Fe20 antidot arrays shows that the maximum remanence is in-plane and the squareness of the out-of-plane hysteresis loop follow a |cos θ| dependence. The angular dependence of out-of-plane coercivity of Ni80Fe20 antidot arrays shows that the maximum coercivity lies on the surface of a cone with its symmetric axis normal to the sample plane, which indicates a transition of magnetic reversal from curling to coherent rotation when changing the angle between the applied magnetic field and the sample plane.  相似文献
