Inorganic nanoparticles have become a research focus in numerous fields because of their unique properties that distinguish them from their bulk counterparts. Controlling the size and shape of nanoparticles is an essential aspect of nanoparticle synthesis. Preparing inorganic nanoparticles by using block copolymer templates is one of the most reliable routes for tuning the size and shape of nanoparticles with a high degree of precision. In this Review, we discuss recent progress in the design of block copolymer templates for crafting spherical inorganic nanoparticles including compact, hollow, and core–shell varieties. The templates are divided into two categories: micelles self‐assembled from linear block copolymers and unimolecular star‐shaped block copolymers. The precise control over the size and morphology of nanoparticles is highlighted as well as the useful properties and applications of such inorganic nanoparticles.  相似文献

Conjugation with artificial nucleic acids allows proteins to be modified with a synthetically accessible, robust tag. This attachment is addressable in a highly specific manner by means of molecular recognition events, such as Watson–Crick hybridization. Such DNA–protein conjugates, with their combined properties, have a broad range of applications, such as in high‐performance biomedical diagnostic assays, fundamental research on molecular recognition, and the synthesis of DNA nanostructures. This Review surveys current approaches to generate DNA–protein conjugates as well as recent advances in their applications. For example, DNA–protein conjugates have been assembled into model systems for the investigation of catalytic cascade reactions and light‐harvesting devices. Such hybrid conjugates are also used for the biofunctionalization of planar surfaces for micro‐ and nanoarrays, and for decorating inorganic nanoparticles to enable applications in sensing, materials science, and catalysis.  相似文献

Multimodal bioprobes, which integrate the advantages of different diagnostic modes into one single particle, can overcome the current limitations of sensitivity and resolution in medical assays and significantly improve the outcome of existing therapeutics. Lanthanide‐doped inorganic multimodal bioprobes, which are emerging as a promising new class of optical/magnetic multimodal bioprobes, have been long sought‐after and have recently attracted revived interest owing to their distinct optical and magnetic properties. In this concept article, we introduce the controlled synthesis of lanthanide‐doped inorganic multimodal bioprobes, including core–shell structured and single‐phase nanoparticles, and demonstrate different design strategies for achieving dual‐modal functionalization of nanoprobes. In particular, we highlight the most recent advances in biodetection, bioimaging, targeted drug delivery, and therapy based on these nanoparticles.  相似文献

Nano-emulsions known also as mini-emulsions, ultrafine emulsions or submicron emulsions are a specific kind of emulsions that have a sub-micrometer droplet size and a low polydispersity. Nano-emulsions, being kinetically stable systems, require energy input in order to be formed, either from mechanical devices or from the intrinsic physicochemical potential of the components. The properties of the nano-emulsions make them suitable for applications in various domains such as drug delivery, cosmetics, pesticides and in particular for the preparation of inorganic or hybrid nanostructured materials. This review discusses the recent progresses made in this latest field. We focus on inorganic or hybrid nanoparticles, nanocapsules, hollow spheres or composites prepared by combining the nano-emulsion technique and the sol–gel process. In that case nano-emulsions act as template. We also outline the most recent development, which consists in using the nano-emulsions as imprints to get hierarchical porous silica materials.  相似文献

A new isothermal approach to the recovery of inorganic nanoparticles (NPs) is demonstrated. The NPs can be incorporated into a background microemulsion (ME) supporting fluid, and they can be recovered by addition of non-adsorbing polymer. A clean liquid-liquid (L-L) phase transition can be readily induced by addition of polymer to the MEs. Furthermore, the L-L transitions are also observed in the presence of added NPs, but now the nanoparticles concentrate in the lower co-existing ME phases. Once recovered, the NPs can be redispersed by adding extra ME as a solvent.  相似文献

We report the first example of a successful preparation of a microporous organic polymer within the droplet phase of an inverse non‐aqueous miniemulsion. Stable nanoparticles with enhanced specific surface area could be obtained despite the harsh conditions regarding reaction temperature (180 °C) and time (72 h) needed for building melamine‐based Schiff base networks. Our new flexible method can in principle be applied to other water‐sensitive protocols suitable for the bulk synthesis of MOPs that are based on Friedel‐Crafts, Sonogashira‐Hagihara or Yamamoto chemistry.  相似文献

Ionic liquids are credited with a number of unusual properties. These include a low vapor pressure, a wide liquid‐phase range, weakly coordinating properties, and a high thermal/chemical stability. These properties are certainly of great interest for inorganic synthesis and the creation of novel inorganic compounds. On the other hand, the synthesis repertoire for preparing inorganic compounds has always been broad, ranging from syntheses in solutions and melts to solid‐state reactions, and from crystal growth in the gas phase to high‐pressure syntheses. What new aspects can ionic liquids then add to the synthesis of inorganic compounds? This Minireview uses some early examples to show that the use of ionic liquids indeed provides access to unusual inorganic compounds.  相似文献

This paper discusses effects of organic ligands, electrostatic and magnetic interactions involved in morphological control of chemically synthesized inorganic nanostructures including colloid and planar systems. The special attention was concentrated on noble metal (gold and palladium) nanoparticles and nanostructures formed at the gas-liquid interface. The analysis of experimental data showed that electrostatic and ligand-related interactions influence very strongly on the metal nanostructure morphology. The hydrophobicity of ligand, charge and binding affinity to inorganic phase are important factors influencing the morphology of inorganic nanostructures formed in a layer at the gas/liquid interface by the interfacial synthesis method. The important point of this method is the quasi two-dimensional character of reaction area and possibilities to realize ultimately thin and anisotropic dynamic monomolecular reaction system with two-dimensional diffusion and interactions of precursors, intermediates and ligands resulting in planar growth and organization of inorganic nanoparticles and nanostructures in the plain of Langmuir monolayer. The morphology of resulting inorganic nanostructures can be controlled efficiently by variations of growth conditions via changes in state and composition of interfacial planar reaction media with the same precursor, and by variations of composition of adjacent bulk phases. The extreme anisotropy and heterogeneity of two-dimensional interfacial reaction system allows creating conditions when growing inorganic particles floating on the aqueous phase surface interact selectively with hydrophobic water-insoluble ligands in interfacial monolayer or with hydrophilic bulk-phase ligands, or at the same time with ligands of different nature present in monolayer and in aqueous phase. The spatial anisotropy of interfacial reaction system and non-homogeneity of ligand binding to inorganic phase gives possibilities for growth of integrated anisotropic nanostructures with unique morphologies, in particularly those characterized by very high surface/volume ratio, high effective perimeter, and labyrinth-like structure. In a case of magnetic nanoparticles dispersed in colloids specific magnetic dipolar interactions can result in formation of chains, rings and more complex nanoparticulate structures or separated highly anisotropic nanoparticles. Theoretical considerations indicate to the importance of system dimensionality in relation to the energy balance which determines specific features of structure organization in planar charged metallic and magnetic nanostructures. For example, a requirement of Coulomb energy minimum, the possibility of free electron redistribution and strengthened attractive interactions between particles in metallic nanostructures can explain formation of very branchy systems with extremely high "effective perimeter". The obtained experimental and literature data show that system dimensionality, organic ligand nature along with electrostatic and magnetic interactions are most important factors of morphological control of chemically synthesized inorganic nanomaterials. The understanding and appropriate exploitation of these factors can be useful for further developments of efficient nanofabrication techniques based on colloidal and interfacial synthetic methods.  相似文献

The ability to engineer the surface properties of magnetic nanoparticles is important for their various applications, as numerous physical and chemical properties of nanoscale materials are seriously affected by the chemical constitution of their surfaces. For some specific applications, nanoparticles need to be transferred from a polar to a nonpolar environment (or vice versa) after synthesis. In this work we have developed a universal method for the phase transfer of magnetic nanoparticles that preserves their shape and size. Octadecyltrimethoxysilane was used to cap the surfaces of the aqueous magnetic nanoparticles, thereby allowing their transfer into nonpolar solution. The resulting hydrophobic magnetic nanoparticles were transferred back into aqueous solution by subsequently covering them with an egg‐PC lipid monolayer. The superparamagnetic properties of the particles were retained after the phase transfer. The maximum transfer yields are dependent on their particle size with a maximum value of 93.16±4.75 % for magnetic nanoparticles with a diameter of 100 nm. The lipid‐modified magnetic particles were stable over 1 week, and thus they have potential applications in the field of biomedicine. This work also provides a facile strategy for the controllable engineering of the surface properties of nanoparticles.  相似文献

Nanometer-sized semiconductor particles (quantum dots) have been the subject of intense research during the past decade owing to their novel electronic, catalytic, and optical properties. Fundamental properties of these nanoparticles (1-20 nm diameter) can be systematically changed simply by controlling the size of the crystals while holding their chemical composition constant. We describe here a new methodology for the continuous production of fluorescent CdS, CdSe, and CdTe nanoparticles using ultrasonically generated aerosols of high boiling point solvents. Each submicron droplet serves as a separate nanoscale chemical reactor, with reactions proceeding as the liquid droplets (which hold both reactants and surface stabilizers) are heated in a gas stream. The method is inexpensive, scalable, and allows for the synthesis of high quality nanocrystals. This chemical aerosol flow synthesis (CAFS) can be extended to the synthesis of nanostructured metals, oxides, and other materials.  相似文献

As nanoparticle syntheses in aqueous and organic systems have their own merits and drawbacks, specific applications may call for the transfer of newly formed nanoparticles from a polar to a non-polar environment (or vice versa) after synthesis. This critical review focuses on the application of phase transfer in nanoparticle synthesis, and features core-shell structures in bimetallic nanoparticles, replacement reactions in organic media, and catalytic properties of various nanostructures. It also describes the reversible organic and aqueous phase transfer of semiconductor and metallic nanoparticles for biological applications, and the use of phase transfer in depositing noble metals on semiconductor nanoparticles (258 references).  相似文献

Understanding the formation process of nanoparticles is of the utmost importance to improve their design and production. This especially holds true for self‐assembled nanoparticles whose formation processes have been largely overlooked. Herein, we present a new technology that integrates a microfluidic‐based nanoparticle synthesis method and Förster resonance energy transfer (FRET) microscopy imaging to visualize nanoparticle self‐assembly in real time. Applied to different nanoparticle systems, for example, nanoemulsions, drug‐loaded block‐copolymer micelles, and nanocrystal‐core reconstituted high‐density lipoproteins, we have shown the approach's unique ability to investigate key parameters affecting nanoparticle formation.  相似文献

Nanocapsules with an oily core and an organic/inorganic hybrid shell were elaborated by miniemulsion (co)polymerization of styrene, divinylbenzene, γ‐methacryloyloxy propyl trimethoxysilane, and N‐isopropyl acrylamide. The hybrid copolymer shell membrane was formed by polymerization‐induced phase separation at the interface of the oily nanodroplets with water. It was shown that the size, size distribution, and colloidal stability of the miniemulsion droplets were extremely dependent on the nature of the oil phase, the monomer content and the surfactant concentration. The less water‐soluble the hydrocarbon template and the higher the monomer content, the better the droplet stability. The successful formation of nanocapsules with the targeted core‐shell morphology (i.e., a liquid core surrounded by a solid shell) was evidenced by cryogenic transmission electron microscopy. Both nanocapsules and nanoparticles were produced by polymerization of the miniemulsion droplets. The proportion of nanoparticles increased with increasing monomer concentration in the oil phase. These undesirable nanoparticles were presumably formed by homogeneous nucleation as we showed that micellar nucleation could be neglected under our experimental conditions even for high surfactant concentrations. The introduction of γ‐methacryloyloxy propyl trimethoxysilane was considered to be the main reason for homogeneous nucleation. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. This article describes 1) a methodology for the green synthesis of a class of methylammonium and methylphosphonium ionic liquids (ILs), 2) how to tune their acid–base properties by anion exchange, 3) complete neat‐phase NMR spectroscopic characterisation of these materials and 4) their application as active organocatalysts for base‐promoted carbon–carbon bond‐forming reactions. Methylation of tertiary amines or phosphines with dimethyl carbonate leads to the formation of the halogen‐free methyl‐onium methyl carbonate salts, and these can be easily anion‐exchanged to yield a range of derivatives with different melting points, solubility, acid–base properties, stability and viscosity. Treatment with water, in particular, yields bicarbonate‐exchanged liquid onium salts. These proved strongly basic, enough to efficiently catalyse the Michael reaction; experiments suggest that in these systems the bicarbonate basicity is boosted by two orders of magnitude with respect to inorganic bicarbonate salts. These basic ionic liquids used in catalytic amounts are better even than traditional strong organic bases. The present work also introduces neat NMR spectroscopy of the ionic liquids as a probe for solute–solvent interactions as well as a tool for characterisation. Our studies show that high catalytic efficacy of functional ionic liquids can be achieved by integrating their green synthesis, along with a fine‐tuning of their structure. Demonstrating that ionic liquid solvents can be made by a truly green procedure, and that their properties and reactivity can be tailored to the point of bridging the gap between their use as solvents and as catalysts.  相似文献

Inorganic/organic nanocomposite systems, in which inorganic particles are encapsulated into the polymer matrix, are new classes of polymeric materials. These materials combine the properties of both components. It means that polymer component with excellent optical property, flexibility and toughness could improve the brittleness of inorganic particles and besides, inorganic particles could increase the strength and modulus of polymers. There are various methods to make these inorganic/organic nanocomposites. One of them is the chemical process, in which polymerization is performed directly in the presence of the inorganic particles. Examples of miniemulsion, suspension or dispersion polymerization can be found in the literature but emulsion polymerization is by far the technique most frequently used.In this work, latex containing nanostructure hybrid of copolymer (styrene, methyl methacrylate, acrylic acid) and inorganic nanoparticles (silica) with core/shell structure was prepared via semi-batch emulsion polymerization. At first, silica nanoparticles were dispersed in water phase in an ultrasound bath to prevent the aggregation of nanoparticles, and then emulsion polymerization was performed in the presence of silica nanoparticles. Related tests and analysis confirmed the success in synthesis of nanostructure hybrids. Induced coupled plasma (ICP) analysis and thermal gravimetric analysis (TGA) showed the presence and amount of silica nanoparticles in the final latex. Dynamic light scattering (DLS) analysis confirmed the presence of 25-35 nm particles in the system and transmission electron microscopy (TEM) showed the core/shell morphology of nanoparticles. It has been shown that with an appropriate surfactant, adjusting the pH of media, using suitable monomers and under controlled conditions, it would be possible to produce stable organic/inorganic composite nanoparticles with core/shell structure. In another attempt and in order to investigate the effect of compatiblizing system, styrene-methyl methacrylate was copolymerized in the presence of modified silica particles with oleic acid as the inorganic dispersed phase at the same condition. Similar characterizations were performed in order to have a worthwhile comparison. The results for the late procedure show the effect of oleic acid in formation of aggregates as the core for polymeric nanocomposite particles.  相似文献

We present a microfluidic approach for the controlled encapsulation of individual gas bubbles in micrometer-diameter aqueous droplets with high gas volume fractions and demonstrate this approach to making a liquid shell, which serves as a template for the synthesis of hollow inorganic particles. In particular, we find that an increase in the viscosity of the aqueous phase facilitates the encapsulation of individual gas bubbles in an aqueous droplet and allows control of the thickness of a thin aqueous shell. Furthermore, because such droplets contain a finite amount of water, uncontrolled hydrolysis reactions between reactive inorganic precursors and bulk water can be avoided. We demonstrate this approach by introducing reactive inorganic precursors, such as silane and titanium butoxide, for sol-gel reactions downstream from the formation of the bubble in a droplet and consequently fabricate hollow particles of silica or titania in one continuous flow process. These approaches provide a route to controlling double-emulsion-type gas-liquid microstructures and offer a new fabrication method for thin-shell-covered microbubbles and hollow microparticles.  相似文献

New graphene oxide (GO)‐based hydrogels that contain vitamin B2/B12 and vitamin C (ascorbic acid) have been synthesized in water (at neutral pH value). These gel‐based soft materials have been used to synthesize various metal nanoparticles, including Au, Ag, and Pd nanoparticles, as well as nanoparticle‐containing reduced graphene oxide (RGO)‐based nanohybrid systems. This result indicates that GO‐based gels can be used as versatile reactors for the synthesis of different nanomaterials and hybrid systems on the nanoscale. Moreover, the RGO‐based nanohybrid hydrogel with Pd nanoparticles was used as an efficient catalyst for C? C bond‐formation reactions with good yields and showed high recyclability in Suzuki–Miyaura coupling reactions.  相似文献

Polysaccharide nanoparticles are promising materials in the wide range of disciplines such as medicine, nutrition, food production, agriculture, material science and others. They excel not only in their non‐toxicity and biodegradability but also in their easy preparation. As well as inorganic particles, a protein corona (PC) around polysaccharide nanoparticles is formed in biofluids. Moreover, it has been considered that the overall response of the organism to nanoparticles presence depends on the PC. This review summarises scientific publications about the structural chemistry of polysaccharide nanoparticles and their impact on theranostic applications. Three strategies of implementation of the PC in theranostics have been discussed: I) Utilisation of the PC in therapy; II) How the composition of the PC is analysed for specific disease markers; III) How the formed PC can interact with the immune system and enhances the immunomodulation or immunoelimination. Thus, the findings from this review can contribute to improve the design of drug delivery systems. However, it is still necessary to elucidate the mechanisms of nano‐bio interactions and discover new connections in nanoscale research.  相似文献

In this work the structural features of microemulsions (MEs) containing the pharmaceutical biocompatible Soya phosphatidylcholine/Tween 20 (1:1) as surfactant (S), Captextrade mark 200 as oil phase (O), and phosphate buffer 10mM, pH 7.2 as aqueous phase (W) were studied. Systems obtained with different proportions of the components were described by pseudo-ternary phase diagrams in order to characterize the microemulsions studied here. MEs were prepared with and without the polyene antifungal drug amphotericin B (AmB). The maximum AmB incorporation into the ME system was dependent on both the oil phase and surfactant proportions with 6.80 and 5.7mg/mL in high contents, respectively. The incorporation of AmB into the ME systems significantly increased the profile of the droplet size of the ME for all ranges of surfactant proportions used in the formulations. The microstructures of the system were characterized by dynamic light scattering (DLS) and rheological behavior. The DLS results showed that the size of the oil droplets increases 4.6-fold when AmB is incorporated into the ME system. In all cases the increase in the proportion of the oil phase of the ME leads to a slight increase in the diameter of the oil droplets of the system. Furthermore, for both the AmB-loaded and AmB-unloaded MEs, the size of the oil droplets decrease significantly with the increase of the S proportion in the formulations, demonstrating the efficiency of the surfactant in stabilizing the ME. Depending on the ME composition, an anti-thixotropic behavior was found. The maximum increases of the consistency index caused by the increase of the oil phase of the ME were of 17- and 25-times for the drug-loaded and drug-unloaded MEs, respectively. However, the observed effect for the drug-loaded ME was about 4.6 times higher than that for the drug-unloaded one, demonstrating the strong effect of the drug on the rheological characteristics of the ME system. Therefore, it is possible to conclude that the investigated ME can be used as a very promising vehicle for AmB.  相似文献
