The ground state spin-wave excitations and thermodynamic properties of two types of ferrimagnetic chains are investigated: the alternating spin-1/2 spin-5/2 chain and a similar chain with a spin-1/2 pendant attached to the spin-5/2 site. Results for magnetic susceptibility, magnetization and specific heat are obtained through the finite-temperature Lanczos method with the aim of describing the available experimental data, as well as comparison with theoretical results from the semiclassical approximation and the low-temperature susceptibility expansion derived from Takahashi's modified spin-wave theory. In particular, we study in detail the temperature versus magnetic field phase diagram of the spin-1/2 spin-5/2 chain, in which several low-temperature quantum phases are identified: the Luttinger liquid phase, the ferrimagnetic plateau and the fully polarized phase, and the respective quantum critical points and crossover lines. 相似文献

The mixed spin-1/2 and spin-1 Ising chain with both longitudinal and transverse single-ion anisotropies is solved exactly by means of a mapping to the spin-1/2 Ising chains with alternating transverse fields and the Jordan-Wigner transformation. Within this scheme, the thermodynamic quantities of this model are rigorously determined by a recursion formula derived for the partition function based on the reduced spin-1/2 transverse Ising model. The corresponding thermodynamic properties are calculated and discussed. 相似文献

An exact solution of a single impurity model is hard to derive since it breaks translation invariance symmetry. We present the exact solution of the spin-1/2 transverse Ising chain imbedded by a spin-1 impurity. Using the hole decomposition scheme, we exactly solve the spin-1 impurity in two subspaces which are generated by a conserved hole operator. The impurity enlarges the energy deformation of the ground state above a pure transverse Ising system without impurity. The specific heat coefficient shows a small anomaly at low temperature for finite size. This indicates that the impurity can tune the ground state from a magnetic impurity space to a non-magnetic impurity space, which only exists for spin-1impurity comparing with spin-1/2 impurity and a pure transverse Ising chain without impurity. These behaviors essentially come from adding impurity freedom, which induces a competition between hole and fermion excitation depending on the coupling strength with its neighbor and the single-ion anisotropy. 相似文献

We study the finite-size scaling behavior of two-point correlation functions of translationally invariant many-body systems at criticality. We propose an efficient method for calculating the two-point correlation functions in the thermodynamic limit from numerical data of finite systems. Our method is most effective when applied to a two-dimensional (classical) system which possesses a conformal invariance. By using this method with numerical data obtained from exact diagonalizations and Monte Carlo simulations, we study the spin-spin correlations of the quantum spin-1/2 and-3/2 antifierromagnetic chains. In particular, the logarithmic corrections to power-law decay of the correlation of the spin-1/2 isotropic Heisenberg antiferromagnetic chain are studied thoroughly. We clarify the cause of the discrepancy in previous calculations for the logarithmic corrections. Our result strongly supports the field-theoretic prediction based on the mappings to the Wess-Zumino-Witten nonlinear -model or the sine-Gordon model. We also treat logarithmic corrections and crossover phenomena in the spin-spin correlation of the spin-3/2 isotropic Heisenberg antiferromagnetic chain. Our results are consistent with the Affleck-Haldane prediction that the correlation of the spin-3/2 chain exhibits a crossover to the same asymptotic behavior as in the spin-1/2 chain. 相似文献

We extend the picture of a transfer of nuclear spin-1/2 polarization along a homogeneous one-dimensional chain with the XY Hamiltonian to the inhomogeneous chain with alternating nearest neighbor couplings and alternating Larmor frequencies. To this end, we exactly calculate the spectrum of the spin-1/2 XY Hamiltonian of the alternating chain with an odd number of sites. The exact spectrum of the XY Hamiltonian is also applied to study the multiple quantum (MQ) NMR dynamics of the alternating spin-1/2 chain. MQ NMR spectra are shown to have the MQ coherences of zero and ± second orders just as in the case of a homogeneous chain. The intensities of the MQ coherences are calculated. 相似文献

We investigated the properties of the spin-1/2 ferromagnetic-antiferromagnetic-antiferromagnetic alternating Heisenberg chain using the spin-wave theory. The spin-wave excitation spectra, the sublattice magnetizations and the local bond energies of the model are calculated to be compared with the corresponding properties of the mixed spin (1, 1/2) chain for a range of α. The results demonstrate that all the properties show similar behaviours in the small α limit, so the properties of the mixed spin (1, 1/2) chain can be described using the spin-1/2 ferromagnetic-antiferromagnetic-antiferromagnetic alternating Heisenberg chain. 相似文献

Using results on the mass gap in the sine-Gordon model combined with the exact amplitudes in the bosonized representation of the Heisenberg spin-1/2 chain and one-loop renormalization group, we derive a quantitative expression for the gap in a dimerized spin-1/2 chain. This expression is shown to be in good agreement with recent numerical estimates when a marginally irrelevant perturbation is taken into account.Received: 24 February 2004, Published online: 12 July 2004PACS:

We presented a numerical study of the magnetization process of frustrated spin-1/2 chain. Using the exact diagonalization technique, we provided the evidence that a plateau at one-third of the saturation magnetization exists in the magnetization curve of frustrated antiferromagnetic spin-1/2 chain. 相似文献

The free energy and correlation lengths of the spin-1/2XYZ chain are studied at finite temperature. We use the quantum transfer matrix approach and derive non-linear integral equations for all eigenvalues. Analytic results are presented for the low-temperature asymptotics, in particular for the criticalXXZ chain in an external magnetic field. These results are compared to predictions by conformal field theory. The integral equations are solved numerically for the non-criticalXXZ chain and the related spin-1 biquadratic chain at arbitrary temperature.Work performed within the research program of the Sonderforschungsbereich 341, Köln-Aachen-Jülich 相似文献

We investigate a model of a frustrated spin-1/2 Heisenberg chain coupled to adiabatic phonons with a general form of magnetoelastic coupling. For large enough frustration and lattice coupling, a new tetramerized phase with three different bond lengths is found. We argue that the zigzag spin-1/2 chain LiV2O5 might be a good candidate to observe such a phase. 相似文献

A numerical method of the adaptive time-dependent density-matrix renormalization-group (t-DMRG) is introduced to calculated one-dimensional quantum spin systems with next-nearest-neighbor interaction. The algorithm to study the local magnetization in spin-1/2 Heisenberg XX chain is checked. The analysis of error indicates that this method is efficient to study the spin-1/2 chain with next-nearest-neighbor interaction. By using of the method, the effects of the next-nearest-neighbor interaction on the dynamics of the local magnetization and entanglement entropy are studied. 相似文献

The decoherence process of a central spin-1/2 particle coupling to the surrounding anisotropy spin-1/2 chain in a transverse field at finite temperature is studied in this Letter. We study the Loschmidt echo(LE) of the central spin when the surrounding spin chain is in the thermal equilibrium state. Our results show that the critical enhanced decay of LE at zero temperature becomes indistinct with the temperature increasing and will be completely washed out when the temperature is high enough. 相似文献

The mixed spin-1/2 and spin-1 Ising chain with both longitude and transverse single-ion anisotropies Dz and Dx is solved exactly by means of a mapping to the spin-1/2 Ising chain with the alternating transverse fields and the Jordan-Wigner transformation. The analytical expressions of the quasi-particles' spectra Λk, the minimal energy gap Δ0 for exciting a fermion quasi-particle, the minimal energy gap Δh for exciting a hole, and the ground state energy are obtained. The phase diagram of the ground state is also given. The results show that when Dz?0 for any finite value of Dx, there is no quantum critical point and the ground state is always in a spin ordered phase disregard of the boundary condition in the present system. 相似文献

We study entanglement in a valence-bond solid state, which describes the ground state of an Affleck-Kennedy-Lieb-Tasaki quantum spin chain, consisting of bulk spin-1's and two spin-1/2's at the ends. We characterize entanglement between various subsystems of the ground state by mostly calculating the entropy of one of the subsystems; when appropriate, we evaluate concurrences as well. We show that the reduced density matrix of a continuous block of bulk spins is independent of the size of the chain and the location of the block relative to the ends. Moreover, we show that the entanglement of the block with the rest of the sites approaches a constant value exponentially fast, as the size of the block increases. We also calculate the entanglement of (i) any two bulk spins with the rest, and (ii) the end spin-1/2's (together and separately) with the rest of the ground state. 相似文献

The magnetic properties of a mixed spin-2 and spin-1/2 ferromagnetic diamond chain are studied by effective-field theory and Monte Carlo(MC) simulation based on the Ising model. The temperature dependences of magnetization, magnetic susceptibility, internal energy, and specific heat are studied, respectively. The exchange interaction dependences of magnetization and the critical temperature are calculated by MC simulation. The changes of magnetization depending on the field increasing and then the field decreasing under steady-static conditions are also given. 相似文献

The spin-wave theory is used to study the ID spin-1/2 antiferromagnetic chain. The elementary excitations are found by equations of motion with decoupling approximation. As required, the energies are triply degenerate. 相似文献
