This paper is based on a categorical approach to the study of inverse monoids. The main idea is to extend this to the class called ample monoids (type A monoids). We generalise the notion of a Loganathan category pair to obtain what we call a weak Loganathan category pair and take two categories associated with an ample monoid and examine their properties. We prove that each of these categories together with its subcategory of idempotents forms a weak Loganathan category pair. Then we construct an ample monoid from them.  相似文献

Weakly left ample semigroups are a class of semigroups that are (2,1)-subalgebras of semigroups of partial transformations, where the unary operation takes a transformation α to the identity map in the domain of α. It is known that there is a class of proper weakly left ample semigroups whose structure is determined by unipotent monoids acting on semilattices or categories. In this paper we show that for every finite weakly left ample semigroup S, there is a finite proper weakly left ample semigroup ? and an onto morphism from ? to S which separates idempotents. In fact, ? is actually a (2,1)-subalgebra of a symmetric inverse semigroup, that is, it is a left ample semigroup (formerly, left type A).  相似文献

We prove localization and Zariski-Mayer-Vietoris for higher Gro-thendieck-Witt groups, alias hermitian K-groups, of schemes admitting an ample family of line-bundles. No assumption on the characteristic is needed, and our schemes can be singular. Along the way, we prove Additivity, Fibration and Approximation theorems for the hermitian K-theory of exact categories with weak equivalences and duality.  相似文献

We initiate the theory of graded commutative 2-rings, a categorification of graded commutative rings. The goal is to provide a systematic generalization of Paul Balmer’s comparison maps between the spectrum of tensor-triangulated categories and the Zariski spectra of their central rings. By applying our constructions, we compute the spectrum of the derived category of perfect complexes over any graded commutative ring, and we associate to every scheme with an ample family of line bundles an embedding into the spectrum of an associated graded commutative 2-ring.  相似文献

We ascertain conditions and structures on categories and semigroups which admit the construction of pseudo-products and trace products respectively, making their connection as precise as possible. This topic is modelled on the ESN Theorem and its generalisation to ample semigroups. Unlike some other variants of ESN, it is self-dual (two-sided), and the condition of commuting projections is relaxed. The condition that projections form a band (are closed under multiplication) is shown to be a very natural one. One-sided reducts are considered, and compared to (generalised) D-semigroups. Finally the special case when the category is a groupoid is examined.

E-Ehresmann semigroups are a commonly studied generalization of inverse semigroups. They are closely related to Ehresmann categories in the same way that inverse semigroups are related to inductive groupoids. We prove that under some finiteness condition, the semigroup algebra of an E-Ehresmann semigroup is isomorphic to the category algebra of the corresponding Ehresmann category. This generalizes a result of Steinberg who proved this isomorphism for inverse semigroups and inductive groupoids and a result of Guo and Chen who proved it for ample semigroups. We also characterize E-Ehresmann semigroups whose corresponding Ehresmann category is an EI-category and give some natural examples.  相似文献

Ample fields play an important role in possibility theory. These fields of subsets of a universe, which are additionally closed under arbitrary unions, act as the natural domains for possibility measures. A set provided with an ample field is then called an ample space. In this paper we generalise Wang's notions of product ample field and product ample space. We make a topological study of ample spaces and their products, and introduce ample subspaces, extensions and one-point extensions of ample spaces. In this way, a first step towards a mathematical theory of possibilistic processes is made.  相似文献

The generalized prefix expansion of inverse semigroups, presented by Lawson, Margolis and Steinberg, is suitably modified to define an expansion for weakly left ample semigroups. We consider the class of FA-morphisms between weakly left ample semigroups and show that this expansion gives rise to a universal FA-morphism onto a weakly left ample semigroup. The methods used are necessarily different from the ones applied in the inverse case. We show how the inverse case can be deduced from this more general situation.  相似文献

We investigate the algebra of an ample groupoid, introduced by Steinberg, over a semifield S. In particular, we obtain a complete characterization of congruence-simpleness for Steinberg algebras of second-countable ample groupoids, extending the well-known characterizations when S is a field. We apply our congruence-simplicity results to tight groupoids of inverse semigroup representations associated to self-similar graphs.  相似文献

We construct a line bundle on a complex projective manifold (a general ruled variety over a curve) which is not ample, but whose restriction to every proper subvariety is ample. This example is of interest in connection with ampleness questions of vector bundles on varieties of dimension greater than one. The method of construction shows that a stable bundle of positive degree on a curve is ample. The example can be used to show that there is no restriction theorem for Bogomolov stability.  相似文献

Topological characteristics are studied of the set of points at which the stalks of an ample Banach bundle over an extremally disconnected compact space are finite-dimensional or separable. Some connection is established between finite dimensionality or separability of the stalks of a bundle and the analogous properties of the stalks of the ample hull of the bundle. A left ample semigroup is a semigroup with a unary operation + which has a (2,1)-algebra embedding into a symmetric inverse monoid I(X), the operation + on I(X) being defined by α+ = αα-1. We consider some analogues for left ample semigroups of results on E-unitary covers of inverse semigroups due to McAlister and Reilly. The analogue of an E-unitary cover is a proper cover, and we discuss the construction of proper covers in terms of relational homomorphisms, and of dual prehomomorphisms. We observe that our construction gives an E-dense proper cover for an E-dense left ample semigroup. We also consider proper covers constructed from strict embeddings into factorisable left ample monoids. In contrast to the inverse case, not all proper covers arise in this way. However, in the E-dense case, we characterise those E-dense proper covers which can be constructed from such embeddings.  相似文献

We give a numerical criterion for an ample line bundle on an abelian surface to be it-very ample for a nonnegative integer k. This result implies the equivalence of k-very ampleness and k-spannedness. We also give a complete classification of polarized abelian surfaces with k - very ample polarizations. Our results extend those of Bauer and Szemberg [BaSzl] and Ramanan [Ra].  相似文献

Let L be an ample line bundle on a Kähler manifolds of nonpositive sectional curvature with K as the canonical line bundle. We give an estimate of m such that K+mL is very ample in terms of the injectivity radius. This implies that m can be chosen arbitrarily small once we go deep enough into a tower of covering of the manifold. The same argument gives an effective Kodaira Embedding Theorem for compact Kähler manifolds in terms of sectional curvature and the injectivity radius. In case of locally Hermitian symmetric space of noncompact type or if the sectional curvature is strictly negative, we prove that K itself is very ample on a large covering of the manifold.  相似文献
