Phase-dependent inversionless gain in a four-level atomic system with a closed interaction loop 下载免费PDF全文
A four-level atomic system with a closed interaction loop connected
by two coherent driving fields and a microwave field is
investigated. The results show that inversionless gain can be
achieved on a higher frequency transition outside the closed
interaction loop, and the gain behaviour can be modulated by the
phase of the closed loop as well as the amplitude of the microwave
field. The phase sensitivity property in such a scheme is similar to
that in an analogous configuration with spontaneously generated
coherence, but it is beyond the rigorous condition of
near-degenerate levels with non-orthogonal dipole moments.
Therefore this scheme is much more convenient in experimental

The effectiveness of coherent adiabatic passage in atomic systems with a closed interaction contour was studied. The dependence of coherent adiabatic passage on the algebraic sum of initial exciting field phases was demonstrated for the example of a double Λ-system of atomic levels. 准Λ型4能级系统具有电磁诱导吸收(EIA)和电磁诱导透明(EIT)两种特性.准Λ型4能级系统包括两个基态精细结构能级和两个激发态精细结构能级,除光学耦合场和探测场外,附加了一个射频场作用于两个激发态精细结构能级之间.若对此系统进行拓展,在两个基态精细结构能级之间引入一个驱动场,则构成4场作用下的闭合Λ型4能级系统.本文对新引进的驱动场的作用规律进行了重点研究.研究结果表明,当驱动场和射频场的Rabi频率满足不同关系时,系统呈现EIA或EIT两种不同特性,探测吸收曲线的整体轮廓也随之改变. 相似文献

The effect of vacuum-induced coherence (VIC) on the gain of lasing without inversion (LWI) is studied in an open four-level atomic system with Doppler broadening for both cases: co- and counter-propagating probe and driving fields. The results show that: (1) in general, for a fixed VIC strength, LWI gain decreases monotonously with the value of the Doppler broadening width increasing. Regardless of the Doppler broadening being obvious or not, the LWI gain much larger than that without VIC always can be gotten by choosing suitable VIC strength, i.e. values of two factors p1 and p2 which represent the VIC effect. (2) Varying p1 or p2 will produce remarkable different influence on the LWI gain, and the influence is closely related to the value of the Doppler broadening width. (3) In the case of counter-propagating probe and driving fields, when the Doppler broadening is large enough, gain oscillation occurs. For the same value of the Doppler broadening width, the oscillation amplitude increases with increasing values of strength of VIC. (4) The atomic exit and injection rates also can dramatically affect LWI gain. (5) The LWI gain for the co-propagating probe and driving fields is always larger than that for the counter-propagating probe and driving fields. (6) A much larger LWI gain in open system than that in the corresponding closed system can be obtained. 相似文献

The electromagnetically induced transparency (EIT) and its dispersion properties in a four-level inverted-Y atomic system are investigated. The absorption spectrum of a weak probe field shows two EIT windows (dark resonances) whose location, width, and depth can be controlled by manipulating the parameters of the coupling fields; the corresponding dispersion properties are also measured by using a Mach-Zehnder interferometer. The experimental measurements agree well with the theoretical calculations. This kind of system can find important applications in two-channel quantum communication and information storage. 相似文献

在一个具有超精细结构的四能级原子系统中,为了压抑暂态过程和稳态过程两种情况下的弱探测光束的吸收,我们提出和分析了一种有效的拉曼散射计划。对于暂态过程,借助一个漂亮的Mathematic程序进行数值计算,我们发现在探测跃迁线中心探测吸收的幅度与一般的基于电磁感应透明的三能级原子系统相比要小。对于稳态情况,结果表明探测吸收在线中心能够被彻底地消除,正像通常的三能级电磁感应透明方案。特别地,我们的结果表明在拉曼共振的条件下探测吸收能够被彻底地消除,也就是说,对于稳态过程我们仅仅要求双光子失谐量在超精细二能级频率间隙内是零。与标准的三能级电磁感应透明方案相比,我们的四能级拉曼计划的优点之一是在拉曼共振条件下我们能观察到透明窗口,不需要严格地单光子和双光子失谐量为零。因此,原子超精细结构对于获取电磁感应透明不是一个障碍。 相似文献

We examine the decay dynamics of a free four-level system in the -V configuration. Quantum interference strongly manifests itself in this system, as can be seen by looking at the combined spectral
distribution of the two emitted photons and at the time evolution of the intermediate-level populations, whose effective lifetimes
can become very long under certain conditions for the atomic parameters. This effect is attributable to a population transfer
mechanism induced in the time evolution equations by the Fano terms, also responsible for the strong modifications of the
spectral correlation between the emitted photons which we analyze in detail. Finally, population trapping can also occur when
the two intermediate levels are degenerate.

In this paper, we suggest a doubly degenerate four-level system, in which the transition takes place between the hyperfine energy 52S1/2 F = 1 and 52P3/2 F = 2 in rubidium 87 D2 line, for studying atomic phase grating based on the cross-Kerr and phase conjugation effects. The phase grating with high efficiency can be obtained by tuning phase shift Ф between the coupling and probe field, when the coupling intensity is much stronger than the strength of probe field. Under different coupling intensities, a high diffraction efficiency can be maintained. A new and simple way of implementing phase grating is presented. However, in such an atomic system, two main limitations must be taken into account. First, the independence between steady state probe susceptibility and the coupling intensity, when the population decay rate is larger than the Rabi frequency of the coupling field, cannot result in diffraction grating; second, the sample to be prepared should not be too long. 相似文献

A closed four-level system in atomic vapour is proposed, which is made to possess left handedness by using the technique of quantum coherence. The density matrix method is utilized in view of the rotating-wave approximation and the effect of a local field in dense gas. The numerical simulation result shows that the negative permittivity and the negative permeability of the medium can be achieved simultaneously (i.e. the left handedness) in a wider frequency band under appropriate parameter conditions. Furthermore, when analysing the dispersion property of the left-handed material, we can find that the probe beam propagation can be controlled from superluminal to subluminal, or vice versa via changing the detuning of the probe field. 相似文献

We study the quantum correlation of a coherently foul-level atomic system coupled by two coherent driven fields. Used the
wave function technique, an explicit expression of the photon-photon correlation function is derived. The influence of the
driven field as well as the detuning on the second correlation function are investigated. We find that the second correlation
function can be controlled by the driven field or the detuning of two coupling lasers. So we can control the magnitude of
the joint detection probability by the driving fields. More importantly, we show that this correlated photon states can serve

are considered. Under two different dressed conditions, two- and
three-photon resonant Autler--Townes splittings, accompanied by
enhancement and suppression of wave mixing signal, are obtained
analytically. Meanwhile, an electromagnetic induced transparency of
multi-wave mixing is presented, which shows multiple peaks and
asymmetric effects caused by one-photon, two-photon and three-photon

For a four-level atomic system with a doublet of closely spaced levels, we find that, owing to the coherence that results from the vacuum of the radiation field, population trapping at excited levels and probe gain with population inversion can be achieved with weak incoherent pumping. An electromagnetically induced grating in a four-level tripod-type atomic system is studied theoretically. By virtue of a weak standing-wave signal field, the phase modulation effectively diffracts a weak probe field into the first-order direction. By changing the weak signal field, the diffraction of the weak probe field can be modulated in real time, and a first-order diffraction efficiency of more than 32% can be obtained with proper parameters. Such a system has a potential application in an all-optical switch controlled by a weak optical signal. 相似文献
