Spectrophotometric Determination of Iron with EDDHA (Ethylenediamine N N′ Bis O-Hydroxyphenilacetic Acid) by Derivative Spectroscopy

Abstract

Derivative spectrometry is applied to a spectrophotometric determination of iron with EDDHA. the effect of amount of reagent, acidity, time and temperature have also been studied. the interval of application of the method is increased to 0.16–15.36 μg Fe(III) mL^?1. the reproducibility, precision and potential interferents have been investigated. the interferences due to chlorate, wolframate, molybdate, permanganate, cyanide, cromate, Cu(II), Be(II), Ce(III), Al(III), Hg(II), Sn(II) and Zn(II) are reduced in this new procedure.     

Sensitive Spectrophotometric Determination of Benzoylperoxide with N,N,N′,N′-Tetramethyl-p-phenylenediamine

Abstract

A highly sensitive spectrophotometric determination of benzoylperoxide (BPO) based on the color developing reaction between N,N,N′,N′-tetramethyl-p-phenylenediamine (TMPD) and BPO in the presence of cerium(IV) in weakly acidic media is proposed. The calibration graph is linear in the range 0–6000 ng BPO per 10 ml with an apparent molar absorptivity of 4.73 × 10⁵ 1 mol^?1 cm-1 at 612 nm. The proposed method is about 50-fold more sensitive than N-ethyl-2-naphthylamine (NENA), and application to assays of flour is described.     

Spectrophotometric Determination of Palladium(II) With 2, 2′-Dipyridylglyoxime

Abstract

A spectrophotometric method is described for the determination of palladium with 2,2′-dipyridylglyoxime. The effects due to pH, time, solvents, reagent concentration and diverse ions are reported. A new method of reagent synthesis is also described.     

A Novel Kinetic Method for the Determination of Cobalt(Ⅱ) in Vitamin Bl2

Cobalt(Ⅱ) in NaOH(a.q.) can catalyze the decolorizing reaction resulting from the oxidation of dibromohydoxylphenylfluorone(DBH-PF) by H₂O₂(a.q.). A new catalytic spectrophotometry for determining trace Cobalt(Ⅱ) was obtained. The method has been used to determine trace Cobalt(Ⅱ) in Vitamin B₁₂ samples. The sensitivity of this method is higher than the references, and the selectivity of the method is better than the references too.

Lanthanide Complexes with N,N′-Bis(2- hydroxybenzylidene)-2-hydroxyphenylmethanediamine

Complexes of lanthanides with N,N-bis(2-hydroxybenzylidene)-2-hydroxyphenylmethanediamine (H₃L) were synthesized and investigated by the elemental, IR, magnetochemical, and thermogravimetric methods. Using the data obtained, they were found to have compositions Ln₂L₂ · nH₂O and La₂L₂ · MCl₂ · 4H₂O (Ln = La³⁺, Pr³⁺, Nd³⁺, Dy³⁺, Er³⁺; M = Cu²⁺, Co²⁺, Ni²⁺; n = 4, 6). Suggestions on their structures were made. In the interval of 20–140°C, these complexes were shown to be high-resistance semiconductors.

Catalytic Kinetic Spectrophotometric Method for Determination of Phosphate Ion

The kinetic method for the determination of phosphate microamounts was described. The developed method is based on catalytic effect of phosphate on sodium pyrogallol-5-sulphonate （PS） by dissolved oxygen. The reaction was followed spectrophotometrically by measuring the rate of change in the values of the absorbance of the oxidation product at 437 nm. The optimum reaction conditions are PS （0.44×10^-3 mol·L^-1） and HClO4 （3.6×10^-6 mol·L^-1） at 25 ℃. Following this procedure, phosphate can be determined with a linear calibration graph up to 0.23 μg·mL^-1. The interference effect of several species was also investigated and it was found that the most common cations and anions did not interfere with the determination. The developed procedure was successfully applied to the determination of phosphate in natural waters and soil.     

N,N′-Bis(trimethylsilyl)dicyandiamide

Coordination compounds of some metals with N,N′-Bis(m-ethoxycarbonylphenyl)urea

N,N′-bis(m-ethoxycarbonylphenyl)urea and its complex compounds with cooper, zinc and cadmium were syntesized. The structure of N,N′-bis(m-ethoxycarbonylphenyl)urea was investigated by XRD method. Ligand coordination process was determined. Some factors affecting the donor ability of the nitrogen and oxygen atoms in ligand molecule were discussed.     

A Kinetic Fluorimetric Method for Determination of Microamounts of Pt(IV) with 2-2′ Dipyridylketone Hydrazone

Abstract

A kinetic method for determination of traces of Pt(IV) based on the aerobic oxidation of the hydrazone of 2-2′ dipyridylketone, in which the formation of a fluorescent product (λ_ex = 359 nm, λ_em = 435 nm) takes place, is described. The reaction is followed by the measurement of the rate of appearance of the fluorescence. The proposed method suffers very few interferences.     

Efficient Method for the Synthesis of α,α′-Bis(arylmethylidene) Cycloalkanones Catalyzed by Bromodimethylsulfonium Bromide

Bromodimethylsulfonium bromide (BDMS)–catalyzed crossed aldol condensation between aromatic aldehydes and ketones is reported to access α,α′-bis(arylmethylidene) cycloalkanones at room temperature in good yields within 3–10 min. The salient features of this method are the simplicity of the procedure, the ready accessibility of the catalyst, and greater yields in relatively short reaction times.

An N2O2 Tetradentate Ligand 6,6′-Bis(Acylamino)-2,2′-Bipyridine. Oxidation-Reduction Properties of Cobalt Complexes

Abstract

Recently, we reported the syntheses and the properties of a new type of N₂O₂ tetradentate ligands, 6,6′-bis(acylamino)-2,2′-bipyridines and their copper(II) complexes. ¹. These ligands form two different types of square-planar complexes, i.e., Type 1 and Type 2, depending on the pH of the solution. ^1,2 In addition, the deprotonated complexes (Type 2) are suggested to have strong ligand field, and are regarded as analogues of salen complexes. In this paper, we report syntheses and properties of cobalt complexes of 6,6′-bis(benzoylamino)-2,2′-bipyridine (babpH₂), and the interaction of the Type 2 complex with molecular oxygen.     

Influence of Sodium Dodecyl Sulfate on the Protolytic Properties of N,N-Dimethyl-N′-(2-hydroxybenzyl) Ethylenediamine and Its Complexation with Copper(II)

To investigate the effect of sodium dodecyl sulfate (concentration C _s = 5 and 10 mM) on the acid–base properties of N,N-dimethyl-N-(2-hydroxybenzyl) ethylenediamine and its complexation with copper(II) (C _s = 10 mM) was studied using the methods of potentiometry, spectrophotometry (at 298 K), and mathematical simulation of equilibria in solutions. The sodium dodecyl sulfate contributes to the formation of a monomeric form of N,N-dimethyl-N-(2-hydroxybenzyl)ethylenediamine, while this compound exists in 40% isopropyl alcohol predominantly in the form of a dimer. The acidic properties of protonated monomeric and dimeric species are weaker than those in an aqueous alcohol solution. Sodium dodecyl sulfate facilitates the coordination of the deprotonated form of ligand. The region of the predominant accumulation of an uncharged complex of 1 : 2 composition is shifted to lower pH values (11.0 and 7.5, respectively), whereas the molar absorption coefficient of the complex increases by approximately 1.7 times. The apparent stability constants of complexes of the same type increase.
