We report the experimental preparations of the absolute ground states of 87Rb and 40K atoms (| F=1, mF=1,〉+ |F=9/2, mF=-9/2,〉) by means of the radio-frequency and microwave adiabatic rapid passages, and the observation of magnetic Feshbach resonances in an ultracold mixture of bosonic 87Rb and fermionic 40K atoms between 0 T and 6.0 × 10-2 T, including 7 homonuclear and 4 heteronuclear Feshbach resonances. The resonances are identified by the abrupt trap loss of atoms induced by the strong inelastic three-body collisions. These Feshbach resonances should enable the experimental control of interspecies interactions. 相似文献

We report on the observation of sympathetic cooling of a cloud of fermionic 6Li atoms which are thermally coupled to evaporatively cooled bosonic 87Rb. Using this technique we obtain a mixture of quantum-degenerate gases, where the Rb cloud is colder than the critical temperature for Bose-Einstein condensation and the Li cloud is colder than the Fermi temperature. From measurements of the thermalization velocity we estimate the interspecies s-wave triplet scattering length |amx|=20(+9)(-6)aB. We found that the presence of residual rubidium atoms in the |2, 1> and the |1, -1> Zeeman substates gives rise to important losses due to inelastic collisions. 相似文献

We used microwave radiation to evaporatively cool a mixture of of 133Cs and 87Rb atoms in a magnetic trap. A mixture composed of an equal number (around 104) of Rb and Cs atoms in their doubly polarized states at ultracold temperatures was prepared. We report an apparatus and method capable of producing Bose-Einstein condensates (BECs) of ~1 × 106 87Rb atoms, and ultimately designed for sympathetic cooling of 133Cs and the creation of ultracold RbCs molecules. The method combines several elements: (i) the large recapture of a magnetic quadrupole trap from a magneto-optical trap; (ii) efficient forced RF evaporation in such a magnetic trap; (iii) the gain in phase-space density obtained when loading the magnetically trapped atoms into a far red-detuned optical dipole trap, and (iv) efficient evaporation to BEC within the dipole trap. We demonstrate that the system is capable of sympathetically cooling the |F = 1, m F = ?1〉 and |1,0? sublevels with |1, +1〉 atoms. Finally we discuss the applicability of the method to sympathetic cooling of 133Cs with 87Rb. 相似文献

We report on the attainment of quantum degeneracy of 40^K by means of efficient thermal collisions with the evaporatively cooled 87^Rb atoms. 为了得到在高背景噪音下对弱信号光的提取,实验研究了基于87Rb D1线5S1/2F=2→5P1/2 F'=1跃迁的795 nm法拉第反常色散光学滤波器.充铷的样品池所含87Rb的比例高于自然铷,样品池处在均匀的磁场中并且夹在两个相互正交的偏振片之间.入射的探测光通过样品池,与原子相互作用,由于法拉第旋转效应实现滤波功能.改变实验条件,透射结果随之明显变化.当温度从340 K升高到360 K,透射谱的变化情况被细致记录,并且分析了导致透射情况变化的原因.在适当的工作温度以及磁场条件下,得到线宽为约220 MHz的超窄带透射谱线,谱线透过率约为48%.87Rb D1线的实验结果优于85Rb的吸收线. 相似文献

We report on the achievement of simultaneous quantum degeneracy in a mixed gas of fermionic 40K and bosonic 87Rb. Potassium is cooled to 0.3 times the Fermi temperature by means of an efficient thermalization with evaporatively cooled rubidium. Direct measurement of the collisional cross-section confirms a large interspecies attraction. This interaction is shown to affect the expansion of the Bose-Einstein condensate released from the magnetic trap, where it is immersed in the Fermi sea. 相似文献

对40K-87Rb原子冷却的半导体激光系统提出了一种实验方案,并进行了初步实验.采用三台外腔光栅反馈半导体激光器(ECDL)、四台注入锁定从激光器和一台半导体激光放大器组成激光系统.三台ECDL通过声光调制器产生四束光,分别作为40K和87Rb原子的冷却光和再抽运光,四束不同频率成分的激光分别注入锁定四台从激光器,然后Rb 冷却光、K冷却光和K再抽运光再同时注入半导体激光放大器进行放大.该装置可同时产生冷却40K和87Rb原子的冷却光和再抽运光,结构紧凑、工作稳定.

For the case of cesium atoms optically oriented in a mixture of cesium and rubidium vapors, the temperature dependence of the frequency shift of a magnetic resonance excited in a set of Zeeman sublevels for two hyperfine states of 87Rb 5s 2 S 1/2 atoms. It is shown that, in a weak magnetic field of about 2 × 10?6 T, this shift is determined by the spin-exchange interaction of rubidium atoms with optically oriented 133Cs atoms. 相似文献

We describe an experimental setup designed to produce ultracold trapped gas clouds of fermionic 6Li and bosonic 87Rb. This combination of alkali metals has the potential to reach deeper Fermi degeneracy with respect to other mixtures since it allows for improved heat capacity matching which optimizes sympathetic cooling efficiency. Atomic beams of the two species are independently produced and then decelerated by Zeeman slowers. The slowed atoms are collected into a magneto-optical trap and then transferred into a quadrupole magnetic trap. An ultracold Fermi gas with temperature in the 10?3 T F range should be attainable through selective confinement of the two species via a properly detuned laser beam focused in the center of the magnetic trap. 相似文献

This paper has observed linewidth narrowing of dark states in rubidium cell by using the Hanle configuration. The reduction of the coherent resonance width under the transition of ^87Rb Fg = 1 → Fe = 0 is observed and the qualitative explanation about its mechanism is presented. Multiple subnatural width dips are obtained with a linearly polarized laser beam for the transitions of ^87Rb Fg = 1→Fe = 0, 1, 2. The feature of negative and positive slope, namely dispersionlike feature, is observed in the transmitted light. 相似文献

We report the production of a high phase-space density mixture of 87Rb and 133Cs atoms in a levitated crossed optical dipole trap as the first step towards the creation of ultracold RbCs molecules via magneto-association. We present a simple and robust experimental setup designed for the sympathetic cooling of 133Cs via interspecies elastic collisions with 87Rb. Working with the |F = 1,m F = +1〉 and the |3, +3〉 states of 87Rb and 133Cs respectively, we measure a high interspecies three-body inelastic collision rate ~10?25?10?26 cm6 ? s?1 which hinders the sympathetic cooling. Nevertheless by careful tailoring of the evaporation we can produce phase-space densities near quantum degeneracy for both species simultaneously. In addition we report the observation of an interspecies Feshbach resonance at 181.7(5) G and demonstrate the creation of Cs2 molecules via magneto-association on the 4(g)4 resonance at 19.8 G. These results represent important steps towards the creation of ultracold RbCs molecules in our apparatus. 相似文献

Realization of a single-beam mini magneto-optical trap: A candidate for compact CPT cold atom-clocks
We have demonstrated the experimental realization of a single-beam mini magneto-optical trap of 87Rb atoms, originally designed for a cold atom-clock with coherent population trapping (CPT). Only one beam is used as cooling, trapping and repumping beams rather than the three pairs of orthogonal beams of the standard magneto-optical trap. The core optics, which consists of a modified pyramidal funnel type mirror, a quarter-wave plate and a retroreflect mirror, is installed inside a mini titanium cubic chamber. The vacuum system, rubidium source, magnetic field coils and beam expander are designed in a compact geometry. As many as 1.1 × 107 rubidium atoms are cooled and trapped, and thus the mini trap is ready for the implementation of a novel compact coherent population trapping cold atom-clock. 相似文献

The (p, p′) reaction on 89Y at incident energies of 20.51 MeV and 14.33 MeV and on 87Rb at 20.89 MeV has been studied. In 89Y 28 levels with Eex between 2 and 4.2 MeV and 79 levels with Eex between 4.2 and 6 MeV have been identified. In 87Rb 45 levels with Eex up to 4.2 MeV have been found. Transferred orbital angular momenta and deformation parameters have been deduced from a macroscopic DWBA analysis of the differential cross sections. The experimental results are not consistent with the interpretation of states in 89Y and 87Rb as resulting from the weak-coupling of a proton or proton-hole to excited states of the 88Sr core. Simple shell model arguments are able to yield at least a qualitative agreement with the level scheme as found for 89Y. 相似文献

We demonstrate an experimental setup for the production of a beam source of cold 87Rb atoms. The atoms are extracted from a trapped cold atomic cloud in an unbalanced three-dimensional magneto-optical trap. Via a radiation pressure difference generated by a specially designed leak tunnel along one trapping laser beam, the atoms are pushed out continuously with low velocities and a high flux. The most-probable velocity in the beam is varied from 9 m/s to 19 m/s by varying the detuning of the trapping laser beams in the magneto-optical trap and the flux can be tuned up to 4×109 s-1 by increasing the intensity of the trapping beams. We also present a simple model for describing the dependence of the beam performance on the magneto-optical trap trapping laser intensity and the detuning. 相似文献
