Let \(\Delta = \sum _{m=0}^\infty q^{(2m+1)^2} \in \mathbf {F}_2[[q]]\) be the reduction mod 2 of the \(\Delta \) series. A modular form of level 1, \(f=\sum _{n\geqslant 0} c(n) \,q^n\), with integer coefficients, is congruent modulo \(2\) to a polynomial in \(\Delta \). Let us set \(W_f(x)=\sum _{n\leqslant x,\ c(n)\text { odd }} 1\), the number of odd Fourier coefficients of \(f\) of index \(\leqslant x\). The order of magnitude of \(W_f(x)\) (for \(x\rightarrow \infty \)) has been determined by Serre in the seventies. Here, we give an asymptotic equivalent for \(W_f(x)\). Let \(p(n)\) be the partition function and \(A_0(x)\) (resp. \(A_1(x)\)) be the number of \(n\leqslant x\) such that \(p(n)\) is even (resp. odd). In the preceding papers, the second-named author has shown that \(A_0(x)\geqslant 0.28 \sqrt{x\;\log \log x}\) for \(x\geqslant 3\) and \(A_1(x)>\frac{4.57 \sqrt{x}}{\log x}\) for \(x\geqslant 7\). Here, it is proved that \(A_0(x)\geqslant 0.069 \sqrt{x}\;\log \log x\) holds for \(x>1\) and that \(A_1(x) \geqslant \frac{0.037 \sqrt{x}}{(\log x)^{7/8}}\) holds for \(x\geqslant 2\). The main tools used to prove these results are the determination of the order of nilpotence of a modular form of level-\(1\) modulo \(2\), and of the structure of the space of those modular forms as a module over the Hecke algebra, which have been given in a recent work of Serre and the second-named author.  相似文献

In this paper we show how to deduce several types of generating functions for \(q\)-hypergeometric polynomials by the method of homogeneous \(q\)-difference equations. In addition, we build relations between transformation formulas and homogeneous \(q\)-difference equations. Moreover, we generalize the Andrews–Askey integral from the perspective of \(q\)-integrals by the method of homogeneous \(q\)-difference equations.  相似文献

We consider a family \(M_t^n\), with \(n\geqslant 2\), \(t>1\), of real hypersurfaces in a complex affine n-dimensional quadric arising in connection with the classification of homogeneous compact simply connected real-analytic hypersurfaces in  \({\mathbb {C}}^n\) due to Morimoto and Nagano. To finalize their classification, one needs to resolve the problem of the embeddability of \(M_t^n\) in  \({\mathbb {C}}^n\) for \(n=3,7\). In our earlier article we showed that \(M_t^7\) is not embeddable in  \({\mathbb {C}}^7\) for every t and that \(M_t^3\) is embeddable in  \({\mathbb {C}}^3\) for all \(1<t<1+10^{-6}\). In the present paper, we improve on the latter result by showing that the embeddability of \(M_t^3\) in fact takes place for \(1<t<\sqrt{(2+\sqrt{2})/3}\). This is achieved by analyzing the explicit totally real embedding of the sphere \(S^3\) in \({\mathbb {C}}^3\) constructed by Ahern and Rudin. For \(t\geqslant {\sqrt{(2+\sqrt{2})/3}}\), the problem of the embeddability of \(M_t^3\) remains open.  相似文献

We consider the model space \(\mathbb {M}^{n}_{K}\) of constant curvature K and dimension \(n\ge 1\) (Euclidean space for \(K=0\), sphere for \(K>0\) and hyperbolic space for \(K<0\)), and we show that given a function \(\rho :[0,\infty )\rightarrow [0, \infty )\) with \(\rho (0)=\mathrm {dist}(x,y)\) there exists a coadapted coupling (X(t), Y(t)) of Brownian motions on \(\mathbb {M}^{n}_{K}\) starting at (xy) such that \(\rho (t)=\mathrm {dist}(X(t),Y(t))\) for every \(t\ge 0\) if and only if \(\rho \) is continuous and satisfies for almost every \(t\ge 0\) the differential inequality
$$\begin{aligned} -(n-1)\sqrt{K}\tan \left( \tfrac{\sqrt{K}\rho (t)}{2}\right) \le \rho '(t)\le -(n-1)\sqrt{K}\tan \left( \tfrac{\sqrt{K}\rho (t)}{2}\right) +\tfrac{2(n-1)\sqrt{K}}{\sin (\sqrt{K}\rho (t))}. \end{aligned}$$
In other words, we characterize all coadapted couplings of Brownian motions on the model space \(\mathbb {M}^{n}_{K}\) for which the distance between the processes is deterministic. In addition, the construction of the coupling is explicit for every choice of \(\rho \) satisfying the above hypotheses.

For \(q,n,d \in \mathbb {N}\), let \(A_q(n,d)\) be the maximum size of a code \(C \subseteq [q]^n\) with minimum distance at least d. We give a divisibility argument resulting in the new upper bounds \(A_5(8,6) \le 65\), \(A_4(11,8)\le 60\) and \(A_3(16,11) \le 29\). These in turn imply the new upper bounds \(A_5(9,6) \le 325\)\(A_5(10,6) \le 1625\)\(A_5(11,6) \le 8125\) and \(A_4(12,8) \le 240\). Furthermore, we prove that for \(\mu ,q \in \mathbb {N}\), there is a 1–1-correspondence between symmetric \((\mu ,q)\)-nets (which are certain designs) and codes \(C \subseteq [q]^{\mu q}\) of size \(\mu q^2\) with minimum distance at least \(\mu q - \mu \). We derive the new upper bounds \(A_4(9,6) \le 120\) and \(A_4(10,6) \le 480\) from these ‘symmetric net’ codes.  相似文献

Let \(L=-\mathrm{div}(A\nabla )\) be a second order divergence form elliptic operator and A an accretive \(n\times n\) matrix with bounded measurable complex coefficients in \({\mathbb R}^n\). Let \(\nabla b\in L^n({\mathbb R}^n)\,(n>2)\). In this paper, we prove that the commutator generated by b and the square root of L, which is defined by \([b,\sqrt{L}]f(x)=b(x)\sqrt{L}f(x)-\sqrt{L}(bf)(x)\), is bounded from the homogenous Sobolev space \({\dot{L}}_1^2({\mathbb R}^n)\) to \(L^2({\mathbb R}^n)\).  相似文献

It has become common knowledge that constructing q-ary quantum MDS codes with minimum distance bigger than \(q/2+1\) is significantly more difficult than constructing those with minimum distance less than or equal to \(q/2+1\). Despite of various constructions of q-ary quantum MDS codes, all known q-ary quantum MDS codes have minimum distance bounded by \(q/2+1\) except for some lengths. The purpose of the current paper is to provide some new q-ary quantum MDS codes with minimum distance bigger than \(q/2+1\). In this paper, we provide several classes of quantum MDS codes with minimum distance bigger than \(q/2+1\). For instance, some examples in these classes include q-ary \([n,n-2k, k+1]\)-quantum MDS codes for cases: (i) \(q\equiv -1\bmod {5}, n=(q^2+4)/5\) and \(1\le k\le (3q-2)/5\); (ii) \(q\equiv -1\bmod {7}, n=(q^2+6)/7\) and \(1\le k\le (4q-3)/7\); (iii) \(2|q, q\equiv -1\bmod {3}, n=2(q^2-1)/3\) and \(1\le k\le (2q-1)/3\); and (iv) \(2|q, q\equiv -1\bmod {5}, n=2(q^2-1)/5\) and \(1\le k\le (3q-2)/5\).  相似文献

Let \(\mathfrak{g}\) be a complex semisimple Lie algebra, and \(Y_{\hbar }(\mathfrak{g})\), \(U_{q}(L\mathfrak{g})\) the corresponding Yangian and quantum loop algebra, with deformation parameters related by \(q=e^{\pi \iota \hbar }\). When \(\hbar \) is not a rational number, we constructed in Gautam and Toledano Laredo (J. Am. Math. Soc. 29:775, 2016) a faithful functor \(\Gamma \) from the category of finite-dimensional representations of \(Y_{\hbar }(\mathfrak{g})\) to those of \(U_{q}(L \mathfrak{g})\). The functor \(\Gamma \) is governed by the additive difference equations defined by the commuting fields of the Yangian, and restricts to an equivalence on a subcategory of \(\operatorname{Rep}_{\operatorname{fd}}(Y_{\hbar }(\mathfrak{g}))\) defined by choosing a branch of the logarithm. In this paper, we construct a tensor structure on \(\Gamma \) and show that, if \(|q|\neq 1\), it yields an equivalence of meromorphic braided tensor categories, when \(Y_{\hbar }(\mathfrak{g})\) and \(U_{q}(L\mathfrak{g})\) are endowed with the deformed Drinfeld coproducts and the commutative part of their universal \(R\)-matrices. This proves in particular the Kohno–Drinfeld theorem for the abelian \(q\)KZ equations defined by \(Y_{\hbar }(\mathfrak{g})\). The tensor structure arises from the abelian \(q\)KZ equations defined by an appropriate regularisation of the commutative part of the \(R\)-matrix of \(Y_{\hbar }(\mathfrak{g})\).  相似文献

In this paper we are concerned with the multiplicity of solutions for the following fractional Laplace problem
$$\begin{aligned} \left\{ \begin{array}{ll} (-\Delta )^{s}u= \mu |u|^{q-2}u + |u|^{2^*_s-2}u &{}\quad \text{ in } \Omega \\ u=0 &{}\quad \text{ in } {\mathbb {R}}^n{\setminus } \Omega , \end{array}\right. \end{aligned}$$
where \(\Omega \subset {\mathbb {R}}^n\) is an open bounded set with continuous boundary, \(n>2s\) with \(s\in (0,1),(-\Delta )^{s}\) is the fractional Laplacian operator, \(\mu \) is a positive real parameter, \(q\in [2, 2^*_s)\) and \(2^*_s=2n/(n-2s)\) is the fractional critical Sobolev exponent. Using the Lusternik–Schnirelman theory, we relate the number of nontrivial solutions of the problem under consideration with the topology of \(\Omega \). Precisely, we show that the problem has at least \(cat_{\Omega }(\Omega )\) nontrivial solutions, provided that \(q=2\) and \(n\geqslant 4s\) or \(q\in (2, 2^*_s)\) and \(n>2s(q+2)/q\), extending the validity of well-known results for the classical Laplace equation to the fractional nonlocal setting.

We prove Nikol’skii type inequalities that, for polynomials on the n-dimensional torus \(\mathbb {T}^n\), relate the \(L^p\)-norm with the \(L^q\)-norm (with respect to the normalized Lebesgue measure and \(0 <p <q < \infty \)). Among other things, we show that \(C=\sqrt{q/p}\) is the best constant such that \(\Vert P\Vert _{L^q}\le C^{\text {deg}(P)} \Vert P\Vert _{L^p}\) for all homogeneous polynomials P on \(\mathbb {T}^n\). We also prove an exact inequality between the \(L^p\)-norm of a polynomial P on \(\mathbb {T}^n\) and its Mahler measure M(P), which is the geometric mean of |P| with respect to the normalized Lebesgue measure on \(\mathbb {T}^n\). Using extrapolation, we transfer this estimate into a Khintchine–Kahane type inequality, which, for polynomials on \(\mathbb {T}^n\), relates a certain exponential Orlicz norm and Mahler’s measure. Applications are given, including some interpolation estimates.  相似文献

Let \(\Omega \) be a bounded smooth domain of \(R^{n}\). We study the asymptotic behaviour of the solutions to the equation \(\triangle u-|Du|^{q}=f(u)\) in \(\Omega , 1<q<2,\) which satisfy the boundary condition \(u(x)\rightarrow \infty \) as \(x\rightarrow \partial \Omega \). These solutions are called large or blowup solutions. Near the boundary we give lower and upper bounds for the ratio \(\psi (u)/\delta \), where \(\psi (u) = \int _{u}^{\infty }1/\sqrt{2F}dt\), \(F'=f\), \(\delta =dist(x,\partial \Omega )\) or for the ratio \(u/\delta ^{(2-q)/(1-q)}\). When in particular the ratio \(f/F^{q/2}\)is regular at infinity, we find again known results (Bandle and Giarrusso, in Adv Diff Equ 1, 133–150, 1996; Giarrusso, in Comptes Rendus de l’Acad Sci 331, 777–782 2000).  相似文献

A partial \((k-1)\)-spread in \({\text {PG}}(n-1,q)\) is a collection of \((k-1)\)-dimensional subspaces with trivial intersection. So far, the maximum size of a partial \((k-1)\)-spread in \({\text {PG}}(n-1,q)\) was known for the cases \(n\equiv 0\pmod k\), \(n\equiv 1\pmod k\), and \(n\equiv 2\pmod k\) with the additional requirements \(q=2\) and \(k=3\). We completely resolve the case \(n\equiv 2\pmod k\) for the binary case \(q=2\).  相似文献

In this work, we study a version of the general question of how well a Haar-distributed orthogonal matrix can be approximated by a random Gaussian matrix. Here, we consider a Gaussian random matrix \(Y_n\) of order n and apply to it the Gram–Schmidt orthonormalization procedure by columns to obtain a Haar-distributed orthogonal matrix \(U_n\). If \(F_i^m\) denotes the vector formed by the first m-coordinates of the ith row of \(Y_n-\sqrt{n}U_n\) and \(\alpha \,=\,\frac{m}{n}\), our main result shows that the Euclidean norm of \(F_i^m\) converges exponentially fast to \(\sqrt{ \big (2-\frac{4}{3} \frac{(1-(1 -\alpha )^{3/2})}{\alpha }\big )m}\), up to negligible terms. To show the extent of this result, we use it to study the convergence of the supremum norm \(\epsilon _n(m)\,=\,\sup _{1\le i \le n, 1\le j \le m} |y_{i,j}- \sqrt{n}u_{i,j}|\) and we find a coupling that improves by a factor \(\sqrt{2}\) the recently proved best known upper bound on \(\epsilon _n(m)\). Our main result also has applications in Quantum Information Theory.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the first eigenvalue of Jacobi operator on an n-dimensional non-totally umbilical compact hypersurface with constant mean curvature H in the unit sphere \(S^{n+1}(1)\). We give an optimal upper bound for the first eigenvalue of Jacobi operator, which only depends on the mean curvature H and the dimension n. This bound is attained if and only if, \(\varphi :\ M \rightarrow S^{n+1}(1)\) is isometric to \(S^1(r)\times S^{n-1}(\sqrt{1-r^2})\) when \(H\ne 0\) or \(\varphi :\ M \rightarrow S^{n+1}(1)\) is isometric to a Clifford torus \( S^{n-k}\left( \sqrt{\dfrac{n-k}{n}}\right) \times S^k\left( \sqrt{\dfrac{k}{n}}\right) \), for \(k=1, 2, \ldots , n-1\) when \(H=0\).  相似文献

Let \(k\ge 1\) and \(n_1,\ldots ,n_k\ge 1\) be some integers. Let \(S(n_1,\ldots ,n_k)\) be a tree T such that T has a vertex v of degree k and \(T{\setminus } v\) is the disjoint union of the paths \(P_{n_1},\ldots ,P_{n_k}\), that is \(T{\setminus } v\cong P_{n_1}\cup \cdots \cup P_{n_k}\) so that every neighbor of v in T has degree one or two. The tree \(S(n_1,\ldots ,n_k)\) is called starlike tree, a tree with exactly one vertex of degree greater than two, if \(k\ge 3\). In this paper we obtain the eigenvalues of starlike trees. We find some bounds for the largest eigenvalue (for the spectral radius) of starlike trees. In particular we prove that if \(k\ge 4\) and \(n_1,\ldots ,n_k\ge 2\), then \(\frac{k-1}{\sqrt{k-2}}<\lambda _1(S(n_1,\ldots ,n_k))<\frac{k}{\sqrt{k-1}}\), where \(\lambda _1(T)\) is the largest eigenvalue of T. Finally we characterize all starlike trees that all of whose eigenvalues are in the interval \((-2,2)\).  相似文献

In this paper we study the following singular p(x)-Laplacian problem
$$\begin{aligned} \left\{ \begin{array}{l@{\quad }l} - \text{ div } \left( |\nabla u|^{p(x)-2} \nabla u\right) =\frac{ \lambda }{u^{\beta (x)}}+u^{q(x)}, &{} \text{ in }\quad \Omega , \\ u>0, &{} \text{ in }\quad \Omega , \\ u=0, &{} \text{ on }\quad \partial \Omega , \end{array}\right. \end{aligned}$$
where \(\Omega \) is a bounded domain in \(\mathbb {R}^N\), \(N\ge 2\), with smooth boundary \(\partial \Omega \), \(\beta \in C^1(\bar{\Omega })\) with \( 0< \beta (x) <1\), \(p\in C^1(\bar{\Omega })\), \(q \in C(\bar{\Omega })\) with \(p(x)>1\), \(p(x)< q(x) +1 <p^*(x)\) for \(x \in \bar{\Omega }\), where \( p^*(x)= \frac{Np(x)}{N-p(x)} \) for \(p(x) <N\) and \( p^*(x)= \infty \) for \( p(x) \ge N\). We establish \(C^{1,\alpha }\) regularity of weak solutions of the problem and strong comparison principle. Based on these two results, we prove the existence of multiple (at least two) positive solutions for a certain range of \(\lambda \).

Let \(v = (v_1, \ldots , v_n)\) be a vector in \(\mathbb {R}^n {\setminus } \{ 0 \}\). Consider the Laplacian on \(\mathbb {R}^n\) with drift \(\Delta _{v} = \sum _{i = 1}^n \Big ( \frac{\partial ^2}{\partial x_i^2} + 2 v_i \frac{\partial }{\partial x_i} \Big )\) and the measure \(d\mu (x) = e^{2 \langle v, x \rangle } dx\), with respect to which \(\Delta _{v}\) is self-adjoint. Let d and \(\nabla \) denote the Euclidean distance and the gradient operator on \(\mathbb {R}^n\). Consider the space \((\mathbb {R}^n, d, d\mu )\), which has the property of exponential volume growth. We obtain weak type (1, 1) for the Riesz transform \(\nabla (- \Delta _{v} )^{-\frac{1}{2}}\) and for the heat maximal operator, with respect to \(d\mu \). Further, we prove that the uncentered Hardy–Littlewood maximal operator is bounded on \(L^p\) for \(1 < p \le +\infty \) but not of weak type (1, 1) if \(n \ge 2\).  相似文献

A sequence A of positive integers having the property that no element \(a_i \in A\) divides the sum \(a_j+a_k\) of two larger elements is said to have ‘Property P’. We construct an infinite set \(S\subset \mathbb {N}\) having Property P with counting function \(S(x)\gg \frac{\sqrt{x}}{\sqrt{\log x}(\log \log x )^2(\log \log \log x)^2}\). This improves on an example given by Erd?s and Sárközy with a lower bound on the counting function of order \(\frac{\sqrt{x}}{\log x}\).  相似文献

We show a Cameron–Martin theorem for Slepian processes \(W_t:=\frac{1}{\sqrt{p}}(B_t-B_{t-p}), t\in [p,1]\), where \(p\ge \frac{1}{2}\) and \(B_s\) is Brownian motion. More exactly, we determine the class of functions \(F\) for which a density of \(F(t)+W_t\) with respect to \(W_t\) exists. Moreover, we prove an explicit formula for this density. p-Slepian processes are closely related to Slepian processes. p-Slepian processes play a prominent role among others in scan statistics and in testing for parameter constancy when data are taken from a moving window.  相似文献
