We prove an existence theorem for the optimal control of variational inequalities governed by a pseudomonotone operator: the cost is assumed to be quadratic. Then, we give an extension of the theorem to more general costs (assuming the operator to be monotone); we also give a result on a perturbation problem.This work is an extended part of the author's thesis, written under the direction of Professor T. As is well known, many problems of mathematical physics are reduced to one- and multidimensional initial and initial-boundary value problems for, generally speaking, strongly nonlinear pseudoparabolic equations. The existence (local and global) and uniqueness of a classical solution to a one-dimensional mixed problem with homogeneous Riquier-type boundary conditions are analyzed for a class of fifth-order semilinear pseudoparabolic equations of the Korteweg-de Vries-Burgers type. For the classical solution of the mixed problem, a uniqueness theorem is proved using the Gronwall-Bellman inequality, a local existence theorem is proved by combining the generalized contraction mapping principle with the Schauder fixed point principle, and a global existence theorem is proved by applying the method of a priori estimates.  相似文献

In this paper, an inverse boundary value problem for a two-dimensional hyperbolic equation with overdetermination conditions is studied. To investigate the solvability of the original problem, we first consider an auxiliary inverse boundary value problem and prove its equivalence to the original problem in a certain sense. We then use the Fourier method to reduce such an equivalent problem to a system of integral equations. Furthermore, we prove the existence and uniqueness theorem for the auxiliary problem by the contraction mappings principle. Based on the equivalency of these problems, the existence and uniqueness theorem for the classical solution of the original inverse problem is proved. Some discussions on the numerical solutions for this inverse problem are presented including some numerical examples.  相似文献

Summary An initial and boundary value problem for a system of first order linear partial differential equations is studied. This problem arises in cell biology, when the evolution of a homogeneous cell population is modelled. Some existence, uniqueness and regularity results are proven; an estimate for the growth of the cell population is also obtained.This work was in part supported by the Istituto di Analisi Numerica of the C.N.R. in Pavia (Italy), the G.N.A.F.A. of the C.N.R. We consider initial-value problems for infinite systems of first-order partial functional differential equations. The unknown function is the functional argument in equations and the partial derivations appear in the classical sense. A theorem on the existence of a solution and its continuous dependence upon initial data is proved. The Cauchy problem is transformed into a system of functional integral equations. The existence of a solution of this system is proved by using integral inequalities and the iterative method. Infinite differential systems with deviated argument and differential integral systems can be derived from the general model by specializing given operators.  相似文献

We study a positive solution of the semipositone Sturm-Liouville boundary value problem in which the nonlinear term has no numerical lower bound. By considering the integration of certain limit growth functions and applying the Krasnosel’skii fixed point theorem on a cone, an existence theorem is proved, and a classical existence result is extended by this theorem.  相似文献

We consider the problem of reconstruction of the source term in an abstract parabolic system. The supplementary information, which is necessary to determine the solution of the system together with the unknown part of the source term, is given by the knowledge of a time integral of the solution with respect to a general Borel measure in the time interval. A theorem of existence and uniqueness of a solution, which is also of maximal regularity type, is proved. Certain particular cases are treated, together with the fact that, in some circumstances, the problem enjoys a sort of Fredholm property.  相似文献

The “prior density for path” (the Onsager-Machlup functional) is defined for solutions of semilinear elliptic type PDEs driven by white noise. The existence of this functional is proved by applying a general theorem of Ramer on the equivalence of measures on Wiener space. As an application, the maximum a posteriori (MAP) estimation problem is considered where the solution of the semilinear equation is observed via a noisy nonlinear sensor. The existence of the optimal estimator and its representation by means of appropriate first-order conditions are derived.  相似文献

This paper concerns an obstacle control problem for an elastic (homogeneous) and isotropic) pseudoplate. The state problem is modelled by a coercive variational inequality, where control variable enters the coefficients of the linear operator. Here, the role of control variable is played by the thickness of the pseudoplate which need not belong to the set of continuous functions. Since in general problems of control in coefficients have no optimal solution, a class of the extended optimal control is introduced. Taking into account the results of G-convergence theory, we prove the existence of an optimal solution of extended control problem. Moreover, approximate optimization problem is introduced, making use of the finite element method. The solvability of the approximate problem is proved on the basis of a general theorem. When the mesh size tends to zero, a subsequence of any sequence of approximate solutions converges uniformly to a solution of the continuous problem.  相似文献

This work deals with the study of periodic solutions to a degenerate fast diffusion equation. The existence of the periodic solution to an intermediate problem restraint to a period T is proved first and then the result is extended by the data periodicity to all time real space. The approach involves an appropriate approximating problem whose periodic solution is proved via a fixed point theorem. Next, a passing to the limit procedure leads to the existence of the solution to the original problem on a time period. Finally, the behavior at large time of the solution to a Cauchy problem with periodic data is characterized.  相似文献

Theorems on the existence and uniqueness of a solution of the inverse Sturm–Liouville problem with self-adjoint nonseparated boundary conditions are proved. As spectral data two spectra and two eigenvalues are used. The theorems generalize the Levitan–Gasymov solvability theorem and Borg’s uniqueness theorem to the case of general boundary conditions.  相似文献

In this paper we consider a particular class of two-dimensional singular Volterra integral equations. Firstly we show that these integral equations can indeed arise in practice by considering a diffusion problem with an output flux which is nonlocal in time; this problem is shown to admit an analytic solution in the form of an integral. More crucially, the problem can be re-characterized as an integral equation of this particular class. This example then provides motivation for a more general study: an analytic solution is obtained for the case when the kernel and the forcing function are both unity. This analytic solution, in the form of a series solution, is a variant of the Mittag-Leffler function. As a consequence it is an entire function. A Gronwall lemma is obtained. This then permits a general existence and uniqueness theorem to be proved.  相似文献

Under study is an invariant solution of the equations of thermal diffusive convection which describes a stationary process of a binary mixture flow in a vertical layer under the action of the pressure gradient and the buoyancy force that depends nonlinearly on temperature and concentration. Some general properties of this solution are established and an existence theorem is proved. Analysis of the numerical solution of the problem is carried out in the cases of a power-law and exponential dependence of the buoyancy force on its argument.  相似文献

The concept of quasidifferential operator in a scale of Banach spaces is formulated. A theorem of existence and uniqueness of a solution to the Cauchy problem for the equation with a nonlinear quasidifferential operator is proved.
