The NMR spectrum of the quasi-one-dimensional easy-plane antiferromagnet CsMnBr3 with a triangular magnetic structure has been studied. The measurements were performed in the decimeter microwave range in a special NMR spectrometer and in a wide range of magnetic fields at temperatures of 1.7 and 3.0 K. Three branches of the NMR spectrum were observed. One branch exhibits a very strong frequency-field dependence. This dependence can be explained, to a first approximation, by the existing theory of the interaction of the electronic and nuclear subsystems [E. A. Turov and M. P. Petrov, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance in Ferro-and Antiferromagnets, Halstead Press, N. Y., 1972]. To explain the behavior of the two other branches, a more complicated theoretical analysis is required. The observed shift of the NMR spectrum with increasing temperature also cannot be explained. The reduction of the spin moment of the magnetic ion Mn2+ due to magnetic fluctuations is determined to be 30%. Pis’ma Zh. éksp. Teor. Fiz. 64, No. 3, 208–213 (10 August 1996)  相似文献

NMR relaxometry is a very useful tool for understanding various chemical and physical phenomena in complex multiphase systems. A Carr-Purcell-Meiboom-Gill (CPMG) [P.T. Callaghan, Principles of Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Microscopy, Clarendon Press, Oxford, 1991] experiment is an easy and quick way to obtain transverse relaxation constant (T2) in low field. Most of the samples usually have a distribution of T2 values. Extraction of this distribution of T2s from the noisy decay data is essentially an ill-posed inverse problem. Various inversion approaches have been used to solve this problem, to date. A major issue in using an inversion algorithm is determining how accurate the computed distribution is. A systematic analysis of an inversion algorithm, UPEN [G.C. Borgia, R.J.S. Brown, P. Fantazzini, Uniform-penalty inversion of multiexponential decay data, Journal of Magnetic Resonance 132 (1998) 65–77; G.C. Borgia, R.J.S. Brown, P. Fantazzini, Uniform-penalty inversion of multiexponential decay data II. Data spacing, T2 data, systematic data errors, and diagnostics, Journal of Magnetic Resonance 147 (2000) 273–285] was performed by means of simulated CPMG data generation. Through our simulation technique and statistical analyses, the effects of various experimental parameters on the computed distribution were evaluated. We converged to the true distribution by matching up the inversion results from a series of true decay data and a noisy simulated data. In addition to simulation studies, the same approach was also applied on real experimental data to support the simulation results.  相似文献

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is the preferred modality of choice to image epiphyseal lesions. It provides excellent soft tissue resolution and extent of disease. A wide spectrum of tumor and tumor like lesions can involve the epiphysis. Early and accurate diagnosis as well as appropriate management of epiphyseal lesions is critical as these conditions may lead to disabling complications such as, limb length discrepancy, angular or joint surface deformities and secondary osteoarthritis. In this article, we discuss the role of conventional sequences, such as T1W, fluid sensitive T2W and intravenous (IV) Gadolinium enhanced sequences as well as the additional value of problem solving MRI sequences such as, chemical shift and diffusion weighted imaging. Based on the imaging findings on various MRI sequences and lesion characteristics, a systematic approach directed to the diagnoses of epiphyseal lesions is presented and discussed. MRI features of clinically and biopsy proven examples of the epiphyseal lesions, such as osteomyelitis, intra-osseous abscess, infiltrative malignancy, metastases, transient osteoporosis, subchondral insufficiency fracture, avascular necrosis, osteochondral fracture, osteochondritis dissecans, eosinophilic granuloma and geode are demonstrated. Using this systematic approach, the reader will be able to better characterize epiphyseal lesions with a potential to positively affect patient management.  相似文献

PurposeHypoxia measurements can provide crucial information regarding tumor aggressiveness, however current preclinical approaches are limited. Blood oxygen level dependent (BOLD) Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) has the potential to continuously monitor tumor pathophysiology (including hypoxia). The aim of this preliminary work was to develop and evaluate BOLD MRI followed by post-image analysis to identify regions of hypoxia in a murine glioblastoma (GBM) model.MethodsA murine orthotopic GBM model (GL261-luc2) was used and independent images were generated from multiple slices in four different mice. Image slices were randomized and split into training and validation cohorts. A 7 T MRI was used to acquire anatomical images using a fast-spin-echo (FSE) T2-weighted sequence. BOLD images were taken with a T2*-weighted gradient echo (GRE) and an oxygen challenge. Thirteen images were evaluated in a training cohort to develop the MRI sequence and optimize post-image analysis. An in-house MATLAB code was used to evaluate MR images and generate hypoxia maps for a range of thresholding and ΔT2* values, which were compared against respective pimonidazole sections to optimize image processing parameters. The remaining (n = 6) images were used as a validation group. Following imaging, mice were injected with pimonidazole and collected for immunohistochemistry (IHC). A test of correlation (Pearson's coefficient) and agreement (Bland-Altman plot) were conducted to evaluate the respective MRI slices and pimonidazole IHC sections.ResultsFor the training cohort, the optimized parameters of “thresholding” (20 ≤ T2* ≤ 35 ms) and ΔT2* (±4 ms) yielded a Pearson's correlation of 0.697. These parameters were applied to the validation cohort confirming a strong Pearson's correlation (0.749) when comparing the respective analyzed MR and pimonidazole images.ConclusionOur preliminary study supports the hypothesis that BOLD MRI is correlated with pimonidazole measurements of hypoxia in an orthotopic GBM mouse model. This technique has further potential to monitor hypoxia during tumor development and therapy.  相似文献

Abstract

There are numerous clinical situations, such as hyperthermia cancer therapy, under which body temperature has to be accurately evaluated. Magnetic Resonance Imaging presently offers the best set of non-invasive methods for body temperature mapping, including diffusion imaging, relaxation time measurement, magnetization transfer contrast and chemical shift spectroscopic imaging. The basic NMR parameters involved in each are first analyzed. The role of temperature in their physical variation is then presented and finally the different practical MRI methods are briefly discussed. In the present slate of available technology and for basic physical reasons, the T 1 method appears the best compromise at low and medium magnetic field in a limited temperature range. Chemical shift could be theoretically more promising but strictly depends from the homogeneity and stability of the magnet and will be available only at high or very high field.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Magnetic Resonance Spectroscopy (MRS) gain increasing attention and importance as a tool in marine ecology. So far, studies were largely limited to morphological studies, e.g. for the creation of digital libraries. Here, the utility of MRI and MRS for ecologists is tested and exemplified using formalin preserved samples of the Antarctic silverfish, Pleuragramma antarctica. As this species lacks a swim bladder, buoyancy is attained by the deposition of large amounts of lipids that are mainly stored in subcutaneous and intermuscular lipid sacs. In this study MRI and MRS are not only used to study internal morphology, but additionally to investigate functional morphology and to measure parameters of high ecological interest. The data are compared with literature data obtained by means of traditional ecological methods. The results from this study show that MR scans are not only an alternative to histological sections (as shown before), but even allow the visualization of particular features in delicate soft tissues, such as Pleuragramma's lipid sacs. 3D rendering techniques proved to be a useful tool to study organ volumes and lipid content, which usually requires laborious chemical lipid extraction and analysis. Moreover, the application of MRS even allows for an analysis of lipids and fatty acids within lipid sacs, which wouldn't be possible using destructive methods. MRI and MRS, in particular when used in combination, have the capacity to provide useful data on parameters of high ecological relevance and thus have proven to be a highly valuable addition, if not alternative, to the classical methods.  相似文献

PurposeTo assess the ability and reproducibility of Non-contrast Magnetic Resonance Lymphography (NMRL) in detecting and quantify lymphedema, using a semiquantitative scoring system. Methods and materialThis is a monocentric retrospective study of 134 consecutive patients with a clinical diagnosis of limb lymphedema who performed a Non-contrast Magnetic Resonance Lymphography (NMRL) at our Institution between November 2014 and February 2017. Lymphedema was classified based both on clinical and radiologic evaluation. An NMRL total score was obtained for each limb's segment and compared to the clinical grade, used as reference standard. NMRL intra-observer, inter-observer variability and intraclass correlation were calculated. NMRL sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy in identifying lymphedema were provided. Based on score distribution an NMRL four-stage system was developed.ResultsNMRL showed 92% sensitivity, 77% specificity and 82% accuracy in identifying lymphedema. An almost perfect agreement was obtained by expert operators, while substantial agreement was obtained by non-expert operators. Substantial agreement resulted also for the inter-observer variability (Cohen's Kappa K = 0.73, CI 95% [0.69–0.78]). The intra-class correlation showed an almost perfect relationship both by expert and non-expert operators. Excellent correlation between clinical grade and NMRL score and between clinical grade and NMRL stage were found for each segment.ConclusionsNMRL is a confident and reproducible exam with high sensitivity, good specificity and high accuracy in lymphedema detection; the semiquantitative NMRL score resulted a reliable and reproducible tool able to quantify lymphedema severity.  相似文献
