An ideal Iin a commutative ring Ris called a z°-ideal if Iconsists of zero-divisors and for each a? Ithe intersection of all minimal prime ideals containing ais contained in I.We prove that in a large class of rings, containing Noetherian reduced rings, Zero-dimensional rings, polynomials over reduced rings and C(X), every ideal consisting of zero-divisors is contained in a prime z°-ideal. It is also shown that the classical ring of quotients of a reduced ring is regular if and only if every prime z°-ideal is a minimal prime ideal and the annihilator of a f.g. ideal consisting of zero-divisors is nonzero. We observe that z°-ideals behave nicely under contractions and extensions.  相似文献

Must the coefficients of the minimum polynomial of a matrix over a domain lie in that domain? This question leads to the notion of a weakly integrally closed domain, over which the answer is ’yes’ for 3-by-3 matrices. It is shown that certain subalgebras of k[t] are weakly integrally closed, as are rings consisting of quadratic algebraic numbers.  相似文献

We prove that if the direct sum of a family of semimodules over a semiring S is an injective semimodule or if the direct product of a family of semimodules over S is a projective semimodule, then the cardinality of the subfamily consisting of all semimodules which are not modules is strictly less than the cardinality of S. As a consequence, we obtain semiring analogs of well-known characterizations of classical semisimple, quasi-Frobenius, and one-sided Noetherian rings.  相似文献

A subset M of a universal algebra A is called finitely separated in A if, for any element x∈A/M, there exists an homomorphism ϕ of A into a finite algebra, for which ϕ(x)∋ϕ(M). A ring is said to be S-separable (R-separable) if its subrings (resp., right ideals) are all finitely separated in it. We give equational (in the language of identities) and indicator (in the language of “prohibited” rings) characterizations of varieties consisting of S-separable (R-separable) rings. Moreover, varieties are described in which, not all, but finitely generated rings only share the properties mentioned. Using the perturbation method we solve the problem of steady longitudinal vibrations of cylindrically anisotropic plates consisting of a finite number of circular rings welded together. A numerical study is carried out for a five-layer plate in the case when the outer boundary is subject to a load and the inner boundary is load-free. The graphs of the stress distributions are given. The rank rk(R) of a ring R is the supremum of minimal cardinalities of generating sets of I as I ranges over ideals of R. Matsuda and Matson showed that every n?+ (the positive integers) occurs as the rank of some ring R. Motivated by the result of Cohen and Gilmer that a ring of finite rank has Krull dimension 0 or 1, we give four different constructions of rings of rank n (for all n?+). Two constructions use one-dimensional domains. Our third construction uses Artinian rings (dimension zero), and our last construction uses polynomial rings over local Artinian rings (dimension one, irreducible, not a domain).  相似文献

Relative notions of flatness are introduced as a mean to gauge the extent of the flatness of any given module. Every module is thus endowed with a flatness domain and, for every ring, the collection of flatness domains of all of its modules is a lattice with respect to class inclusion. This lattice, the flatness profile of the ring, allows us, in particular, to focus on modules which have a smallest flatness domain (namely, one consisting of all regular modules.) We establish that such modules exist over arbitrary rings and we call them Rugged Modules. Rings all of whose (cyclic) modules are rugged are shown to be precisely the von Neumann regular rings. We consider rings without a flatness middle class (i.e., rings for which modules must be either flat or rugged.) We obtain that, over a right Noetherian ring every left module is rugged or flat if and only if every right module is poor or injective if and only if R = S×T, where S is semisimple Artinian and T is either Morita equivalent to a right PCI-domain, or T is right Artinian whose Jacobson radical properly contains no nonzero ideals. Character modules serve to bridge results about flatness and injectivity profiles; in particular, connections between rugged and poor modules are explored. If R is a ring whose regular left modules are semisimple, then a right module M is rugged if and only if its character left module M+ is poor. Rugged Abelian groups are fully characterized and shown to coincide precisely with injectively poor and projectively poor Abelian groups. Also, in order to get a feel for the class of rugged modules over an arbitrary ring, we consider the homological ubiquity of rugged modules in the category of all modules in terms of the feasibility of rugged precovers and covers for arbitrary modules.  相似文献

We study two rings of quotients of C(X), the ring of continuous functions on the Tychonoff space X. The first, F(X), is the ring of quotients induced by the filter of ideals consisting of dense finite intersections of fixed maximal ideals. The second, C[F], is the ring of quotients induced by the filter of dense cofinite subspaces of X. After some preliminary information we explicitly describe in §2 and §3 the constructions of these rings of quotients. In the third section, we use F(X)and C[F] to define and study the class of h-points and h-spaces. In particular, we show that C-spaces and P-spaces are h-spaces. In the last section we construct an ideal of C(X)which will be used to give an ideal theoretic characterization of h-points. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

The effect of friction and bending on the circumferential strain distribution in glass-reinforced plastic rings with unidirectional structure, stretched by two rigid half-disks, has been experimentally investigated. Strain distribution curves for rings of various thicknesses are given. The strain distribution at different levels over the thickness of the ring and the change in compressive strain along the radius have been studied.Institute of Chemical Physics, Academy of Sciences of the USSR, Moscow. We consider the ring Kr(F/D), where D is a subring of a field F, that is the intersection of the trivial extensions to F(X) of the valuation rings of the Zariski–Riemann space consisting of all valuation rings of the extension F/D and investigate the ideal structure of Kr(F/D) in the case where D is an affine algebra over a subfield K of F and the extension F/K has countably infinite transcendence degree, by using the topological structure of the Zariski–Riemann space. We show that for any pair of nonnegative integers d and h, there are infinitely many prime ideals of dimension d and height h that are minimal over any proper nonzero finitely generated ideal of Kr(F/D).  相似文献

Hirano studied the quasi-Armendariz property of rings, and then this concept was generalized by some authors, defining quasi-Armendariz property for skew polynomial rings and monoid rings. In this article, we consider unified approach to the quasi-Armendariz property of skew power series rings and skew polynomial rings by considering the quasi-Armendariz condition in mixed extension ring [R; I][x; σ], introducing the concept of so-called (σ, I)-quasi Armendariz ring, where R is an associative ring equipped with an endomorphism σ and I is an σ-stable ideal of R. We study the ring-theoretical properties of (σ, I)-quasi Armendariz rings, and we obtain various necessary or sufficient conditions for a ring to be (σ, I)-quasi Armendariz. Constructing various examples, we classify how the (σ, I)-quasi Armendariz property behaves under various ring extensions. Furthermore, we show that a number of interesting properties of an (σ, I)-quasi Armendariz ring R such as reflexive and quasi-Baer property transfer to its mixed extension ring and vice versa. In this way, we extend the well-known results about quasi-Armendariz property in ordinary polynomial rings and skew polynomial rings for this class of mixed extensions. We pay also a particular attention to quasi-Gaussian rings.  相似文献

In this paper, the problem of bending for an isotropic plate with constant thickness 2h is considered. Problems of bending for infinite plates with a circular hole in which a rigid body is placed in the cases of approximations N = 1 and N = 2 of the Vekua theory are solved. We consider the case where the body is soldered. Problems of bending of circular rings are also solved. The results obtained are compared to the corresponding results obtained by plane classical bending theory. The Frobenius depth denoted by F-depth is defined by Hartshorne-Speiser in 1977 and later by Lyubeznik in 2006, in a different way, for rings of positive characteristic. The first aim of the present paper is to compare the F-depth with formal grade and reprove some results of Lyubeznik using formal local cohomology. Then the endomorphism rings of local cohomology modules will be considered. As an application, we reprove the results due to Huneke–Koh in positive characteristic and Lyubeznik in characteristic zero on the annihilators of local cohomology modules.  相似文献

In this paper, topologically primitive rings and rings possessing a faithful topologically irreducible module and bounded by this module are considered for the investigation of properties of their topological Jacobson radical. We investigate the topological Jacobson radical in some classes of topological rings such as left topologically Artinian rings, topological rings possessing a basis of neighborhoods of zero consisting of ideals, compact rings, and bounded strictly linearly compact rings.  相似文献

The strength, stiffness, and initial stresses of glass-reinforced plastic rings wound under variable tension in accordance with five different programs are considered. The relative thickness of the rings was 0.15–0.20. It is shown that the law of variation of the tension on the tape during winding has an important effect on the investigated parameter.Institute of Polymer Mechanics, Academy of Sciences of the Latvian SSR, Riga. We introduce toric complexes as polyhedral complexes consisting of rational cones together with a set of integral generators for each cone, and we define their associated face rings. Abstract simplicial complexes and rational fans can be considered as toric complexes, and the face ring for toric complexes extends Stanley and Reisner’s face ring for abstract simplicial complexes [20] and Stanley’s face ring for rational fans [21]. Given a toric complex with defining ideal I for the face ring we give a geometrical interpretation of the initial ideals of I with respect to weight orders in terms of subdivisions of the toric complex generalizing a theorem of Sturmfels in [23]. We apply our results to study edgewise subdivisions of abstract simplicial complexes.  相似文献

In this article we consider rings R with a partial action α of an infinite cyclic group G on R. We generalize the well-known results about Jacobson rings and strongly Jacobson rings in skew polynomial rings and skew Laurent polynomial rings to partial skew polynomial rings and partial skew Laurent polynomial rings.  相似文献

Let R be a ring and M(R) the set consisting of zero and primitive idempotents of R. We study the rings R for which M(R) is multiplicative. It is proved that if R has a complete finite set of primitive orthogonal idempotents, then R is a finite direct product of connected rings precisely when M(R) is multiplicative. We prove that if R is a (von Neumann) regular ring with M(R) multiplicative, then every primitive idempotent in R is central. It is also shown that this does not happen even in semihereditary and semiregular rings. Let R be an arbitrary ring with M(R) multiplicative and e ∈ R be a primitive idempotent, then for every unit u ∈ R, it is proved that eue is a unit in eRe. We also prove that if M(R) is multiplicative, then two primitive idempotents e and f in R are conjugates, i.e., f = ueu ?1 for some u ∈ U(R), if and only if ef ≠ 0.  相似文献

Let α be an endomorphism and δ an α-derivation of a ring R. We introduce the notion of skew-Armendariz rings which are a generalization of α-skew Armendariz rings and α-rigid rings and extend the classes of non reduced skew-Armendariz rings. Some properties of this generalization are established, and connections of properties of a skew-Armendariz ring R with those of the Ore extension R[x; α, δ] are investigated. As a consequence we extend and unify several known results related to Armendariz rings.  相似文献
