The proton nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra of propane‐1,3‐diol, 2‐methylpropane‐1,3‐diol, 2,2‐dimethylpropane‐1,3‐diol, butane‐1,3‐diol, 3‐methylbutane‐1,3‐diol, pentane‐2,4‐diols (dl and meso), 2‐methylpentane‐2,4‐diol and cyclohexane‐1,3‐diols (cis and trans) in benzene have been analysed. The conformer distribution and the NMR shifts of these diols have been computed on the basis of density functional theory, the solvent being included by means of the integral equation formalism phase continuum model (IEFPCM) implemented in Gaussian 09. Relative Gibbs energies of all conformers are calculated at the Perdew, Burke and Ernzerhof (PBE)0/6‐311 + G(d,p) level, and NMR shifts by the gauge‐including atomic orbital method with the PBE0/6‐311 + G(d,p) geometry and the cc‐pVTZ basis set. Vicinal coupling constants for 1,2‐ and 1,3‐diols are rationalised in terms of relative conformer populations and geometries. The NMR shifts of hydrogen‐bonded protons in individual conformers of alkane‐1,n‐diols show a very rough correlation with the OH?OH distances. The computed overall NMR shifts for CH protons in 1,2‐ and 1,3‐diols are systematically high but correlate very well with the experimental values, with a gradient of 1.07 ± 0.01. Some values for nonequivalent methylene protons in 1,3‐diols are reversed, calculation giving enhanced values for the proton anti to the C? OH bonds. Errors in the NMR shifts computed for the OH protons of nonsymmetrical diols appear to be related to relative populations of conformers where one or other of the OH groups is the donor. Some results based on the second‐order Møller–Plesset approach, the Becke three‐parameter Lee‐Yang‐Parr method and on the IEFPCM solvation model implemented in Gaussian 03 are included. The proton NMR spectra of several 1,2‐diols in benzene have been analysed so as to associate each magnetically nonequivalent proton with its chemical shift. The shifts and coupling constants of the OH and methylene protons of ethane‐1,2‐diol have been determined in a wide range of solvents. The conformer distribution and the proton NMR shifts of these 1,2‐diols in benzene have been computed on the basis of density functional theory. The solvent is included using the integral–equation–formalism polarizable continuum model implemented in Gaussian 09. Relative Gibbs energies for all stable conformers are calculated at the Perdew, Burke and Enzerhof (PBE)0/6‐311 + G(d,p) level, and shifts are calculated using the gauge‐including atomic orbital method with the PBE0/6‐311 + G(d,p) geometry but using the cc‐pVTZ basis set. Previous calculations on ethane‐1,2‐diol and propane‐1,2‐diol have been corrected and extended. New calculations on tert‐butylethane‐1,2‐diol, phenylethane‐1,2‐diol, butane‐2,3‐diols (dl and meso) and cyclohexane‐1,2‐diols (cis and trans) are presented. Overall, the computed NMR shifts are in good agreement with experimental values for the OH protons but remain systematically high for CH protons. Some results based on the Gaussian 03 solvation model are included for comparison. Copyright © 2012 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

A facile and practical methodology for the synthesis of synthetically useful diarylmethanol‐based 1,4‐diols and enantiomerically pure BINOL‐derived diols with axial and sp3‐central chirality has been developed through neighboring lithium‐promoted [1,2]‐Wittig rearrangement. The chirality transfer process shows a broad substrate scope in terms of the aromatic ether substituent, which allows access to a broad of range of chiral 1,1′‐binaphthalene‐2‐α‐arylmethanol‐2′‐ols with excellent enantioselectivities (>99 % enantiomeric excess) and yields (84–96 %). This should be considered as an available and attractive chiral source to design and prepare privileged ligands or catalysts.  相似文献

This study describes chirality‐ or template‐mediated helical induction in achiral β‐peptides for the first time. A strategy of end capping β‐peptides derived from β‐hGly (the smallest achiral β‐amino acid) with a chiral β‐amino acid that possesses a carbohydrate side chain (β‐Caa; C‐linked carbo β‐amino acid) or a small, robust helical template derived from β‐Caas, was adopted to investigate folding propensity. A single chiral (R)‐β‐Caa residue at the C‐ or N‐terminus in these oligomers led to a preponderance of right‐handed 12/10‐helical folds, which was reiterated more strongly in peptides capped at both the C‐ and N‐terminus. Likewise, the presence of a template (a 12/10‐helical trimer) at both the C‐ and N‐terminus resulted in a very robust helix. The propagation of the helical fold and its sustenance was found in a homo‐oligomeric sequence with as many as seven β‐hGly residues. In both cases, the induction of helicity was stronger from the N terminus, whereas an anchor at the C terminus resulted in reduced helical propensity. Although these oligomers have been theoretically predicted to favor a 12/10‐mixed helix in apolar solvents, this study provides the first experimental evidence for their existence. Diastereotopicity was found in both the methylene groups of the β‐hGly moieties due to chirality. Additionally, the β‐hGly units have shown split behavior in the conformational space to accommodate the 12/10‐helix. Thus, end capping to assist chiralty‐ or template‐mediated helical induction and stabilization in achiral β‐peptides is a very attractive strategy.  相似文献

The asymmetric cyclocopolymerization of bis(4-vinylbezoate) of a chiral diol with styrene is a promising method for the preparation of optically active polystyrene derivatives because of main-chain chirality. However, the mechanism for chirality induction from the chiral diol to the main chain is still unknown. To clarify the chirality induction mechanism, we carried out the radical cyclizations of (2S,3S)-2,3-butanediyl bis(4-vinylbenzoate), (2S,4S)-2,4-pentanediyl bis(4-vinylbenzoate), and (2S,5S)-2,5-hexanediyl bis(4-vinylbenzoate) with tri-n-butyltin hydride or allyltri-n-butyltin as a chain-transfer reagent as model reactions for asymmetric cyclocopolymerization. The absolute configuration was determined with single-crystal X-ray crystallography and a circular dichroism exciton chirality method. The distribution of the stereoisomer showed (R)-configuration selectivity (21–34% diastereomeric excess) in the intramolecular cyclization and an extremely low extent (<1%) of the (S,S)-cyclized product among the four stereoisomers. Therefore, chirality induction is caused by the selective inhibition of the (S,S)-racemo configuration. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 42: 4671–4681, 2004  相似文献

18O‐Substituted propane‐1,2‐diols and meso‐butane‐1,2‐diols were synthesized and fed to growing cells of Lactobacillus brevis. Propan‐1‐ol and butan‐2‐ol, prepared from such diols through diol‐dehydratase‐catalyzed dehydration followed by intracellular reduction, were analyzed for their 18O‐content. For each propane‐1,2‐diol enantiomer, partial retention or complete loss of the isotope appeared to be related to the mode of substrate binding. Specific retention of the O‐atom linked to the (R)‐configured C‐atom of meso‐butane‐1,2‐diol indicates that the diol dehydratase handles this substrate like (R)‐propane‐1,2‐diol.  相似文献

A new method to synthesize both enantiomers of 2-diphenylphosphino-ferrocenecarboxaldehyde with the phosphine group protected as a thiophosphine group was developed. These aldehydes react with 1,2 or 1,3 diols to give, in good yields, new chiral phosphine-acetals. For unsymmetrical (R)-1,3-butanediol, the new asymmetrical acetalic carbon is asymmetric and its configuration was completely controlled by the chirality of the diol. These new P,O ligands were tested in the palladium-catalyzed asymmetric allylic substitution of 1,3-diphenylprop-2-enylacetate. Good yields and enantioselectivities up to 77% were observed. The catalytic performances of two diastereoisomeric ligands with opposite configurations in planar chirality only proved to be significantly different, showing a strong influence of both planar and central chiralities.  相似文献

The control of the interpenetration and chirality of a family of metal-organic frameworks is discussed. These systems contain two- (A) and four-fold (B) interpenetration of helical three-connected networks generated by binding the 1,3,5-benzenetricarboxylate (btc) ligand to a metal center. These frameworks have the general formula Ni(3)(btc)(2)X(m)Y(n).solvent (where X = pyridine or 4-picoline, Y = ethylene glycol, 1,2-propanediol, 1,4-butanediol, meso-2,3-butanediol, 1,2,6-hexanetriol, glycerol). The structural and chemical effects of modifying the alcohol and aromatic amine ligands bound to the metal center include controlling the thermal stability and the degree of interpenetration. Covalent linking of the four interpenetrating networks in the A family and the switching of diol binding from mono- to bidentate are demonstrated. Recognition of chiral diols by the hand of the network helices is investigated by binding an alcohol ligand with two chiral centers of opposite sense to the same helix. This reveals the subtle nature of the helix-ligand interaction.  相似文献

A novel, cistransoidal poly‐(phenylacetylene) bearing a carboxybiphenyl group as the pendant (poly‐ 1 ) was prepared by polymerization of (4′‐ethoxycarbonyl‐4‐biphenylyl)acetylene with a rhodium catalyst followed by hydrolysis of the ester groups. Upon complexation with various chiral amines and amino alcohols in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO), the polymer exhibited characteristic induced circular dichroism (ICD) in the UV/Vis region due to the predominantly one‐handed helix formation of the polymer backbone as well as an excess of a single‐handed, axially twisted conformation of the pendant biphenyl group. Poly‐ 1 complexed with (R)‐2‐amino‐1‐propanol showed unique time‐dependent inversion of the macromolecular helicity. Furthermore, the preferred‐handed helical conformation of poly‐ 1 induced by a chiral amine was further “memorized” after the chiral amine was replaced with achiral 2‐aminoethanol or n‐butylamine in DMSO. In sharp contrast to the previously reported memory in poly((4‐carboxyphenyl)acetylene), the present helicity memory of poly‐ 1 was accompanied by memory of the twisted biphenyl chirality in the pendants. Unprecedentedly, the helicity memory of poly‐ 1 with achiral 2‐aminoethanol was found to occur simultaneously with inversion of the axial chirality of the biphenyl groups followed by memory of the inverted biphenyl chirality, thus showing a significant change in the CD spectral pattern.  相似文献

Higher‐order super‐helical structures derived from biological molecules are known to evolve through opposite coiling of the initial helical fibers, as seen in collagen protein. A similar phenomenon is observed in a π‐system self‐assembly of chiral oligo(phenyleneethylene) derivatives (S )‐ 1 and (R )‐ 1 that explains the unequal formation of both left‐ and right‐handed helices from molecule having a specific chiral center. Concentration‐ and temperature‐dependent circular dichroism (CD) and UV/Vis spectroscopic studies revealed that the initial formation of helical aggregates is in accordance with the molecular chirality. At the next level of hierarchical self‐assembly, coiling of the fibers occurs with opposite handedness, thereby superseding the command of the molecular chirality. This was confirmed by solvent‐dependent decoiling of super‐helical structures and concentration‐dependent morphological analysis.  相似文献

An O—H⋯O hydrogen‐bonded step‐ladder motif was observed in the crystal structure of the title compound, C12H25NO3. The ladder arrangement is typical of 1,2‐ and 1,3‐diols with a synclinal orientation of the diol functionality.  相似文献

An enantioselective method for the synthesis of 1,2‐anti‐diols has been developed. A cyclometalated chiral‐at‐ruthenium complex catalyzes the asymmetric ring‐opening/cross‐metathesis of dioxygenated cyclobutenes, thus resulting in functionally rich synthetic building blocks. Syntheses of the insect pheromone (+)‐endo‐brevicomin and monosaccharide ribose demonstrate the synthetic utility of the 1,2‐anti‐diol fragments generated in the title reaction.  相似文献

The proton nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra of butane‐1,4‐diol, pentane‐1,4‐diol, (S,S)‐hexane‐2,5‐diol, 2,5‐dimethylhexane‐2,5‐diol and cyclohexane‐1,4‐diols (cis and trans) in benzene and some other solvents have been analysed. The conformer distribution and the NMR shifts of these diols in benzene have been computed on the basis of the density functional theory, the solvent being included by means of the integral‐equation‐formalism polarizable continuum model implemented in Gaussian 09. Relative Gibbs energies of all conformers are calculated at the Perdew, Burke and Ernzerhof (PBE)0/6‐311+G(d,p) level and NMR shifts by the gauge‐including atomic orbital method with the PBE0/6‐311+G(d,p) geometry and the cc‐pVTZ basis set. Vicinal three‐bond coupling constants for the acyclic diols are calculated from the relative conformer populations, the geometries and generalized Karplus equations developed by Altona's group; these correlate well with the experimental values. The solvent dependence of coupling constants for butane‐1,4‐diol is attributed to conformational change. Coupling constants for the rigid cyclohexane‐1,4‐diols do not change with solvent and are readily explained in terms of their geometries. The NMR shifts of hydrogen‐bonded protons in individual conformers of alkane‐1,n‐diols show a very rough correlation with the OH···OH distances. The computed overall NMR shifts for CH protons in 1,2‐diols, 1,3‐diols and 1,4‐diols are systematically high but correlate very well with the experimental values, with a gradient of 1.07 ± 0.01; those for OH protons correlate less well. Ethynylpyridine polymers and oligomers consisting of 4‐substituted pyridine rings linked by acetylene bonds at the 2‐ and 6‐positions have been investigated. Ethynylpyridine oligomers covalently linked with a glycosyl chiral template form chiral helical complexes by intramolecular hydrogen bonding, in which the chirality of the template is translated to the helix. With a view to fixation of the chiral architecture, D /L ‐galactosyl‐ and D /L ‐mannosyl‐linked ethynylpyridine oligomers have been developed with 4‐(3‐butenyloxy)pyridine units having alkene side chains. The helical structures are successfully stapled by alkene metathesis of the side chains. Subsequent removal of the chiral templates by acidolysis produces template‐free stapled oligomers. The chiral, template‐free, stapled oligomers show chiral helicity, which is resistant to polar solvents and heating.  相似文献

The review describes the mechanism of chiral discrimination of racemic amines upon crystallization and the induction of chirality in organic reactions by using them as chiral auxiliaries. In order to form conglomerates, which can be resolved into the two enantiomers upon alternative seeding, both formation and packing of 21-columns are essentially very important. On the other hand, in order to achieve high efficiency in resolution through diastereomeric salt formation, which is the most practical method, one of a pair of diastereomeric salts derived from a racemic amine and an enantiomerically pure resolving agent should at least have two 21-columns and planar boundary surfaces in its crystal structure. On the basis of this knowledge, we developed several artificial chiral auxiliaries such as erythro-2-amino-1,2-diphenylethanol,cis-2-amino-1-acenaphthenol, andcis-2-amino-3,3-dimethyl-1-indanol. These were found to be very efficient chiral auxiliaries in asymmetric inductions: alkylation of chiral imines, catalytic borane-reduction, and alkylation of chiral N-acylated oxazolidinone.  相似文献

A stereoregular poly(phenylacetylene) bearing an N,N‐diisopropylaminomethyl group as the pendant (poly‐ 1 ) changed its structure into the prevailing one‐handed helical conformation upon complexation with optically active acids in water. The complexes exhibited induced circular dichroism (ICD) in the UV/Vis region of the polymer backbone. Poly‐ 1 is highly sensitive to the chirality of chiral acids and can detect a small enantiomeric imbalance in these acids, in particular, phenyl lactic acid in water. For example, a 0.005 % enantiomeric excess of phenyl lactic acid can be detected by CD spectroscopy. The observed ICD intensity and pattern of poly‐ 1 were dependent on the temperature and concentration of poly‐ 1 , probably due to aggregations of the polymer at high temperature as revealed by dynamic light scattering and AFM. On the basis of the temperature‐dependent ICD changes, the preferred chiral helical sense of poly‐ 1 was found to be controlled by noncovalent bonding interactions by using structurally different enantiomeric acids.  相似文献

Endowed with chiral channels and pores, chiral metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are highly useful; however, their synthesis remains a challenge given that most chiral building blocks are expensive. Although MOFs with induced chirality have been reported to avoid this shortcoming, no study providing evidence for the ee value of such MOFs has yet been reported. We herein describe the first study on the efficiency of chiral induction in MOFs using inexpensive achiral building blocks and fully recoverable chiral dopants to control the handedness of racemic MOFs. This method yielded chirality‐enriched MOFs with accessible pores. The ability of the materials to form host–guest complexes was probed with enantiomers of varying size and coordination and in solvents with varying polarity. Furthermore, mixed‐matrix membranes (MMMs) composed of chirality‐enriched MOF particles dispersed in a polymer matrix demonstrated a new route for chiral separation.  相似文献

A novel synthetic strategy toward the asymmetric synthesis of vicinal diols bearing a tertiary center is presented. The method encompasses the dinuclear Mg-catalyzed asymmetric addition of ethyl diazoacetate into several aldehydes, oxidation of the diazo functionality, and diastereoselective alkyl transfer of various organometallics into the resulting chiral β-hydroxy-α-ketoesters to afford a diverse range of 1,2-diols in high yield, diastereoselectivity, and chirality transfer.  相似文献

We report a novel class of C2-symmetric chiral diols derived from the hydrobenzoin skeleton. The combination of these diols with SnCl4 under Yamamoto's concept of Lewis acid assisted Br?nsted acidity (LBA catalysis) leads to high levels of asymmetric induction in the allylboration of aldehydes by commercially available allylboronic acid pinacol ester 1a. The corresponding homoallylic alcohol products of synthetically useful aliphatic aldehydes are obtained in excellent yields with up to 98:2 er. This combined acid manifold is also efficient in catalyzing the diastereo- and enantioselective crotylboration of aldehydes, thus providing the propionate units in >95:5 dr and up to 98:2 er. The X-ray crystal structure of the optimal diol x SnCl4 complex, Vivol (4m) x SnCl4, unambiguously shows the Br?nsted acidic character of this LBA catalyst and its highly dissymmetrical environment. Further controls have ruled out a possible boron trans-esterification mechanism with the chiral diol and point to LBA catalyst-derived activation of the pinacol allylic boronates 1. Due to slow dissociation of the diol x SnCl4 complex, a small excess of diol is required in order to suppress a competing racemic cycle catalyzed by free SnCl4.  相似文献
