Elementary acts of acoustic phonon scattering in nanowires are studied numerically by the FDTD method. The points of bifurcation of the main waveguide are considered as defects. We report on a theoretical study of radiation‐induced resistance oscillations and zero‐resistance states in two‐dimensional electron systems when the irradiation frequency is very low. In this situation the photon energy is much smaller than the spacing between the Landau levels and therefore interlevel transitions are excluded. Experiments show that when these frequencies are used, resistance oscillations disappear and, instead, a strong suppression of magnetoresistance response is obtained. We apply the radiation‐driven electron orbit model concluding that the resistance suppression is a manifestation of an oscillation of very large wavelength. Under this regime we study the connection with larger frequencies and the dependence on radiation power and temperature. For high enough radiation intensity, we predict that a regime of zero‐resistance states can be reached at these low frequencies, too. The calculated results are in good agreement with experiments. We develop canonical perturbation theory for a physically interesting class of infinite-dimensional systems. We prove stability up to exponentially large times for dynamical situations characterized by a finite number of frequencies. An application to two model problems is also made. For an arbitrarily large FPU-like system with alternate light and heavy masses we prove that the exchange of energy between the optical and the acoustical modes is frozen up to exponentially large times, provided the total energy is small enough. For an infinite chain of weakly coupled rotators we prove exponential stability for two kinds of initial data: (a) states with a finite number of excited rotators, and (b) states with the left part of the chain uniformly excited and the right part at rest. 相似文献

We introduce a new slave‐boson mean‐field theory which allows the investigation of general multi‐band Hubbard models. Unlike earlier attempts of such a generalization, in our approach the quantum‐mechanical problem is exactly reformulated in an extended Hilbert space of Fermions and Bosons before a mean‐field approximation is applied. Systems with superconducting order parameters are naturally included in our formalism. Our ground‐state energy functional agrees with the corresponding quantity derived within the Gutzwiller theory. 相似文献

We analyze exciting recent measurements [Phys. Rev. Lett. 114 (2015) 037202] of the magnetization, differential susceptibility and specific heat on one dimensional Heisenberg antiferromagnet Cu(C4H4N2)(NO3)2 (CuPzN) subjected to strong magnetic fields. Using the mapping between magnons (bosons) in CuPzN and fermions, we demonstrate that magnetic field tunes the insulator towards quantum critical point related to so‐called fermion condensation quantum phase transition (FCQPT) at which the resulting fermion effective mass diverges kinematically. We show that the FCQPT concept permits to reveal the scaling behavior of thermodynamic characteristics, describe the experimental results quantitatively, and derive for the first time the (temperature—magnetic field) phase diagram, that contains Landau‐Fermi‐liquid, crossover and non‐Fermi liquid parts, thus resembling that of heavy‐fermion compounds. 相似文献

A solution of the tight-binding model of resonance diffraction of high-energy electrons from a crystal surface is found which describes the behaviour of the reflectivity in the vicinity of the intersection of a resonace parabola and a horizontal Kikuchi line. A simple analytical formula is obtained which makes it possible to evaluate the wave function for the case where both resonance and potential contributions to the reflectivity are of the same order of magnitude. The intensity of the specular reflection is shown to be directly related to the effective displacement Δ of the beam in the direction parallel to the surface, and a general formula suitable for evaluation of Δ from calculated RHEED rocking curves is derived. 相似文献

The method of Fourier transforms is applied to the calculation of sharp (coherent) and diffuse (incoherent) scattering of modulated structures and quasicrystals. The sensitivity of the VLEED I–V curves to the shape and the position of the barrier is shown for the image- type surface barriers. For demonstration and
comparison with experimental data the intensities of specularly reflected electron beams from Cu(111) are computed by dynamical
theory of electron diffraction. Image plane position changes and modifications of the saturation shape of the surface barrier
induce pronounced changes in the I–V curves calculated with the image-type barrier.

To describe aromaticity of planar and three‐dimensional molecules, different electron counting rules are employed. Here, the relationship between the Hückel 4n + 2 rule and the Hirsch 2(n + 1)2 rule is established based on formal approach considering the electrons as objects in an arbitrary n‐dimensional space of states. Two types of three‐dimensional aromaticity, referred to as ‘spherical’ (following the 4n + 2 electron counting rule) and ‘spatial’ (following the 2(n + 1)2 electron counting rule) are distinguished. A conclusion concerning the boundaries of the Periodic Table of Elements is made based on the same formal approach that no g‐ (or higher) elements can exist and that possible extension of the Periodic Table beyond the seventh period must be followed by filling of the 8p or inner 6f or 7d levels. We report here on selected optical properties of core/shell Zn1−xMnxTe/ZnO nanowires (NWs). The Zn1−xMnxTe cores of the investigated structures (containing from 3.5 to 7% of Mn) were grown by the MBE technique using gold‐catalyzed vapor–liquid–solid mechanism. Polycrystalline ZnO shells coating Zn1−xMnxTe NWs were overgrown by the atomic layer deposition (ALD) method. Core/shell NWs were then examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X‐ray diffraction (XRD), Raman scattering, and photoluminescence (PL) measurements. The lines characteristic of the ZnO band edge emission and the intra‐Mn2+ transition were observed in the PL spectra. Modification of the Raman spectra of as‐grown Zn1−xMnxTe samples induced by the ZnO shell is demonstrated and discussed. 相似文献
