We improve the Sobolev-type embeddings due to Gagliardo (Ric Mat 7:102–137, 1958) and Nirenberg (Ann Sc Norm Sup Pisa 13:115–162, 1959) in the setting of rearrangement invariant (r.i.) spaces. In particular, we concentrate on seeking the optimal domains and the optimal ranges for these embeddings between r.i. spaces and mixed norm spaces. As a consequence, we prove that the classical estimate for the standard Sobolev space \(W^{1}L^{p}\) by Poornima (Bull Sci Math 107(3):253–259,  1983), O’Neil (Duke Math J 30:129–142,  1963) and Peetre (Ann Inst Fourier 16(1):279–317,  1966) (\(1 \le p < n\)), and by Hansson (Math Scand 45(1):77–102,  1979, Brezis and Wainger (Commun Partial Differ Equ 5(7):773–789,  1980) and Maz’ya (Sobolev spaces,  1985) (\(p=n\)) can be further strengthened by considering mixed norms on the target spaces.  相似文献

We study the existence and uniqueness of solutions to the system of three-dimensionalNavier-Stokes equations and the continuity equation for incompressible fluid with mixedboundary conditions. It is known that if the Dirichlet boundary conditions are prescribed on thewhole boundary and the total influx equals zero, then weak solutions exist globally in time andthey are even unique and smooth in the case of two-dimensional domains. The methods that havebeen used to prove these results fail if non-Dirichlet conditions are applied on a part of theboundary, since there is then no control over the energy flux on this part of the boundary. In thispaper, we prove the existence and the uniqueness of solutions on a (short) time interval. Theproof is performed for Lipschitz domains and a wide class of initial data. The length of the timeinterval on which the solution exists depends only on certain norms of the data.  相似文献

In this paper the mixed norm spaces L(B,p,q) and their duals are investigated. In the case p,q < it is proved that the dual of L(B,p,q) is L(B,p,q), where p-1 + p-1 = 1 and q-1 + q-1 = 1. For p = 2 and q = an isometric isomorphism is discussed between the mixed norm space L(B,2,) and L(B,2), the L-space of 2-valued functions. Here a measurability theorem is proved for 2-valued functions. The dual of an important subspace of L(B,2,) is characterized as a space of vector measures. Finally, as an application we show that if B is finitely generated then the dual of L(B,2,) is L(B,2,1).  相似文献

Second order parabolic equations in Sobolev spaces with mixed norms are studied. The leading coefficients (except a 11) are measurable in time and one spatial variable, and have small BMO (bounded mean oscillation) semi-norms as functions of the other spatial variables. The coefficient a 11 is measurable in time and have a small BMO semi-norm in the spatial variables. The unique solvability of equations in the whole space is established. Then this result is applied to solving Dirichlet and Neumann boundary value problems for parabolic equations defined on a half-space or on a bounded domain.  相似文献

We are concerned with the non-stationary Stokes system with non-homogeneous external force and non-zero initial data in \({\mathbb {R}}^n_+ \times (0,T)\). We obtain new estimates of solutions including pressure in terms of mixed anisotropic Sobolev spaces. As an application, some anisotropic Sobolev estimates are presented for weak solutions of the Navier–Stokes equations in a half-space in dimension three.  相似文献

Wave packet techniques provide an effective method for proving Strichartz estimates on solutions to wave equations whose coefficients are not smooth. We use such methods to show that the existing results for C 1, 1 and C 1, α coefficients can be improved when the coefficients of the wave operator lie in a Sobolev space of sufficiently high order.  相似文献

An approximation Ansatz for the operator solution, U(z′,z), of a hyperbolic first-order pseudodifferential equation, ? z  + a(z,x,D x ) with Re (a) ≥ 0, is constructed as the composition of global Fourier integral operators with complex phases. An estimate of the operator norm in L(H (s),H (s)) of these operators is provided, which yields a convergence result for the Ansatz to U(z′,z) in some Sobolev space as the number of operators in the composition goes to ∞.  相似文献
