The Schiff moment of the 199Hg nucleus is calculated using finite range P-and T-violating weak nucleon-nucleon interaction. Both the contributions of the P-and T-odd interaction and of internal nucleon electric dipole moments to the Schiff moment of 199Hg are calculated. The contribution of the proton electric dipole moment is obtained via core-polarization effects treated in the framework of RPA with effective residual interactions. We derive a new upper bound |d p |<5.4×10?24e cm for the proton electric dipole moment.  相似文献

Symmetry classification of the magnetic vortices and skyrmions has been suggested. Relation between symmetry based predictions and direct calculation has been shown. It was shown that electric dipole moment of the vortex is located inside the small vortex core. The antivortices and antiskyrmions do not carry the total core electric dipole induced by the flexomagnetoelectric interaction in the hexoctahedral cubic crystal. The volumetric bound electric charge is distributed around the core. Switching of the core electric dipole direction produces the switching of the core magnetization or vortex chirality and vice versa. The vortices and skyrmions with time-invariant enantiomorphism have two degenerative states: clockwise and counterclockwise state.  相似文献

The direct limit of electric dipole moment and direct searches for dark matter by electric dipole interaction are investigated with including the electromagnetic nuclear form factor, in case that the dark matter candidate is a Dirac particle. The electric dipole moment of dark matter constrained by direct searches must be lower than 7×10−22e cm for dark matter mass of 100 GeV to satisfy the current experimental exclusion limits at XENON10 and CDMS II. The CP violation of electric dipole moment and the dark matter discovery by electric dipole interaction in the future are considered.  相似文献

A nonvanishing contribution to the neutron electric dipole moment in CP-violating gauge theories of the weak interactions, arising from interaction of the photon with two-quark subsystems of the three-bound-quark neutron system, is calculated. In the Kobayashi-Maskawa model the resulting value of the moment is estimated as O(10?32) e cm; however, strong interaction corrections (gluonic radiative corrections) give quark moment contributions which may be numerically larger (possibly 10?30±1 e cm). Either case clearly distinguishes gauge-sector CP violation from Higgs-sector CP violation which typically gives a neutron moment of order 10?24 e cm.  相似文献

We explore the impact of the short-range interaction on the scattering of ground state polar molecules and study the transition from a weak to strong dipolar scattering over an experimentally reasonable range of energies and electric field values. In the strong dipolar limit, the scattering scales with respect to a dimensionless quantity defined by mass, induced dipole moment, and collision energy. The scaling has implications for all quantum mechanical dipolar scattering. Furthermore the universal scattering regime will readily be achieved with polar molecules at ultracold temperatures.  相似文献

A local atomic electric dipole moment distribution of Si atoms on Si(111)-(7 x 7) surface is clearly resolved by using a new technique called noncontact scanning nonlinear dielectric microscopy. The dc-bias voltage dependence of the atomic dipole moment on the Si(111)-(7 x 7) surface is measured. At the weak applied voltage of -0.5 V, a positive dipole moment is detected on the Si adatom sites, whereas a negative dipole moment is observed at the interstitial sites of inter Si adatoms. Moreover, the quantitative dependence of the surface dipole moment as a function of the applied dc voltage is also revealed at a fixed point above the sample surface. This is the first successful demonstration of direct atomic dipole moment observation achieved in the field of capacitance measurement.  相似文献

Optical second harmonic generation at the photon energy of 2?ω = 2eV in the model centrosymmetric antiferromagnet NiO irradiated with picosecond terahertz pulses (0.4–2.5 THz) at room temperature is detected. The analysis of experimental results shows that induced optical second harmonic generation at the moment of the impact of a terahertz pulse arises through the electric dipole mechanism of the interaction of the electric field of a pump pulse with the electron subsystem of NiO. Temporal changes in optical second harmonic generation during 7 ps after the action of the pulse are also of an electric dipole origin and are determined by the effects of propagation of the terahertz pulse in a NiO platelet. Coherent oscillations of spins at the antiferromagnetic resonance frequency induced by the magnetic component of the terahertz pulse induce a relatively weak modulation of magnetic dipole optical second harmonic generation.  相似文献

We consider the two-level electron dynamics in a double quantum well in a periodic, anharmonic external electric field. We propose a method for solving the Schrödinger equation, which is based on the generalization of conventional resonance approximation for a system with an arbitrary number of resonances. The method is used for the case of both weak and strong fields. We obtain expressions for the quasi-energy wave functions and the electron dipole moment. It is shown that the dependence of the dipole moment on the constant component of external field is quasi-periodic, and the dipole moment changes sign at different half-periods.  相似文献

Consecutive, phase-coherent, near-resonant optical excitations of atoms have been used to realize an atom interferometer with a beam of thermal calcium atoms. We have measured the topological phase shift due to the interaction of a static electric field with the magnetic dipole moment of a moving atom (Aharonov-Casher effect). The observed phase shift was proportional to the electric field and, within our experimental uncertainty, independent of the particle's velocity. An appended sector of two octet-colored scalars, each an electroweak doublet, is an interesting extension of the simple two Higgs doublet model motivated by the minimal flavor violation. The roton excitation in the superfluid 4He does not possess a stationary dipole moment. However, a roton has an instantaneous dipole moment, such that at any given moment one can find it in the state either with positive or with negative dipole moment projection on its momentum direction. The instantaneous value of electric dipole moment of roton excitation is evaluated. The result is in reasonable agreement with recent experimental observation of the splitting of microwave resonance absorption line at roton frequency under external electric field.  相似文献

We study the quantum properties of Rydberg atoms in a magnetic Ioffe-Pritchard trap which is superimposed by a homogeneous electric field. Trapped Rydberg atoms can be created in long-lived electronic states exhibiting a permanent electric dipole moment of several hundred Debye. The resulting dipole-dipole interaction in conjunction with the radial confinement is demonstrated to give rise to an effectively one-dimensional ultracold Rydberg gas with a macroscopic interparticle distance. We derive analytical expressions for the electric dipole moment and the required linear density of Rydberg atoms.  相似文献

The electric dipole moments of elementary particles, atoms, molecules, and their connection to the electric susceptibility are discussed for stationary states. Assuming rotational invariance, it is emphasized that, for such states, only in the case of a parity and time-reversal-violating interaction can the considered particles exhibit a nonvanishing expectation value for the electric dipole moment.  相似文献

The fundamental band of HD has been studied at room temperature and 0.6 atm pressure with a 48-m absorption path and a resolution of 0.01 cm?1. The frequencies of nine electric dipole and three electric quadrupole transitions were measured with an accuracy of 0.001 cm?1, and their analysis gives improved molecular parameters for the v = 0 and 1 states of HD. The intensities of the dipole transitions were measured in order to determine the v = 1-0 electric dipole transition moment. These measurements extend earlier experiments to higher J values, thus refining the determination of the rotational dependence of the transition moment.  相似文献

We calculate the electrostatic self-force on an electric dipole in the spacetime generated by a static, thin, infinite and straight cosmic string. The electric dipole is held fixed in different configurations, namely, parallel, perpendicular to the cosmic string and oriented along the azimuthal direction around this topological defect, which is stretched along the zz axis. We show that the self-force is equivalent to an interaction of the electric dipole with an effective dipole moment which depends on the linear mass density of the cosmic string and on the configuration. The plots of the self-forces as functions of the parameter which determines the angular deficit of the cosmic string are shown for those different configurations.  相似文献
