全光波长转换器是密集波分复用系统中的关键光电子器件,也是混合WDM/OTDM光网络实用化的关键部分。从脉冲传输方程和载流子密度方程出发,详细分析了相向工作方式下交叉增益调制型波长转换器转换后光的消光比和啁啾特性。在分段动态模型中考虑了剩余端面反射和自发辐射噪声的影响,模拟结果为交叉增益调制型波长转换器的性能优化提供理论依据。  相似文献

从理论和实验上研究了基于半导体光放大器的交叉增益型波长转换器的转换特性.实验研究了转换特性与信号调制格式、放大器增益的关系.利用大信号分析模型讨论了消光比、平均功率转换效率和交流转换效率等性能与平均抽运功率、探测功率及放大器增益特性之间的关系.结果表明,交流转换效率能综合消光比和平均功率转换效率两种指标,在转换器性能优化中有重要的作用 交叉增益型波长转换器输入动态范围较小,很难实现对信号调制格式透明 放大器的增益是取得最佳转换性能的关键 关键词:  相似文献

建立了基于半导体光放大器交叉增益调制的波长转换理论模型,讨论了放大器的偏置电流、抽运光参数以及探测光参数对转换后信号消光比特性的影响,结果表明,大的抽运光功率小的探测光功率以及合适的转换波长间隔有利于获得大的消光比。  相似文献

建立了基于线性光放大器(LOA)的交叉相位调制波长转换模型,模型考虑了纵向载流子密度变化引起的有源区折射率的改变、端面反射、相位调制、放大的自发辐射噪声和横向垂直光场(VCL)的增益钳制作用。利用分段方法模拟计算了布拉格反射镜的反射率、偏置电流、信号光和探测光的功率和波长、信号速率与转换后信号啁啾的关系。结果表明:LOA具有增益钳制作用,能提高转换后信号的性能;增大布拉格反射镜的反射率可以降低转换后信号的啁啾;合理控制输入信号光和探测光的强度,调整干涉仪两臂LOA偏置电流的强度,可以获得啁啾较小的转换信号。  相似文献

提出了采用多电极实现电流非均匀注入来改变半导体光放大器(SOA)内部的载流子分布,从而改变其增益饱和特性的一种新的方案.用SOA分段模型的计算结果表明,与单电极均匀注入电流的SOA 相比,在同样的总注入电流下,对一个两电极SOA采用前面小后面大的非均匀电流注入,可以提高饱和输出功率和饱和输入功率.而采用前面大后面小的电流注入方式,则将使SOA更容易发生饱和,不仅饱和输出功率与饱和输入功率减小,而且增益谱在饱和后的压缩程度加大,增益谱压缩的对称性提高.对多电极SOA,可以方便灵活地调节各节之间的长度比和注入电流比来满足不同的应用要求.  相似文献

对基于半导体光放大器的交叉增益调制型波长转换器相向和同向两种工作方式进行了研究。实验上分别实现了两种工作方式在1550nm波段的波长转换,比较了相同外部条件下两种工作方式的噪声特性,在全面考虑放大自发辐射噪声及其消耗载流子,增益谱的色散性和有源区内部损耗等因素的基础上,运用放大器的分段模型,计算了不同条件下两种方式的输出噪声功率,结果表明:相向型工作方式受放大自发辐射噪声的影响要远大于同向工作方式,输出放大自发辐射噪声功率的大小主要取决于载流子浓度的高低,而载流子空间分布的不均匀程度则决定两种工作方式输出噪声功率的差值大小。  相似文献

A novel scheme for carrying out all-optical intensity differentiation is proposed and demonstrated based on the cross-gain modulation (XGM) in a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA). Because of the XGM, the mathematical definition of differentiation can be expressed by the combined power of the amplified pump pulse and the delayed modulated probe pulse at the output of the SOA. The final waveform and error evolution versus relative time delay between two pulses is investigated. Interestingly enough, it is shown that the acquisition of good differentiation is possible under zero time delay. A further study of zero time delay has been performed for various data rates and shows that the carrier recovery time of the SOA is a speed-limiting factor of the scheme.  相似文献

A filter-free scheme for ultrawideband (UWB) generation with single semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) is proposed and demonstrated. A pair of polarity-reversed optical pulses is generated due to cross gain modulation (XGM) in the pump-probe scheme, whereas the amplified pump pulse becomes sharp at its leading edge such that the power peak is shifted forward. Hence, the combination of the pump and probe signals at the SOA output is quasi-monocycle shape. Our scheme is an improved scheme to avoid exploiting optical filters and time-delay devices. The generated UWB radio frequency spectrum shows good stability when the input probe power varies from −10 dBm to 6 dBm, the probe wavelength varies in the whole C-band, and the bias current varies from 100 mA to 240 mA. Although the generated quasi-monocycle deviates from a standard Gauss monocycle to some extent, the frequency spectrum conforms to the UWB regulation. Two SOAs with different XGM dynamics are compared in generating UWB signals.  相似文献

半导体光放大器(SOA)是具有优良非线性效应的光子器件,在光开关、波长变换、光逻辑运算中有重要的应用。从SOA载流子的速率方程和耦合波方程出发,建立了基于SOA的交叉增益调制波长变换理论模型,并利用分段模型分析方法,对SOA的交叉增益调制波长变换的消光比特性进行了详细的研究。研究结果表明,适当增大信号光功率、减小探测光功率并选择合适的波长差和SOA长度,可以有效地提高传输信号的消光比。  相似文献

We demonstrate a rapidly tunable 10 Gb/s all-optical wavelength converter based on a semiconductor optical amplifier delay interferometer and a tunable laser. It uses a 16-channel 100 GHz-spacing digitally tunable multifrequency laser based on a novel external-cavity laser design. The bit sequence on the incoming wavelength is converted alternatively to different wavelengths. Power penalties are 1.1 dB for 30 ns guard-time spacing between wavelength packets.  相似文献

在半导体光放大器中,采用由张应变引起的自身双折射理论模型对交叉偏振调制型全光波长转换器的波长转换特性进行了数值研究,并对数值结果与相关实验进行了对比。结果表明:通过调节系统参量,可以实现同相或反相波长转换;同相和反相波长转换时输出的信号啁啾、消光比和眼图具有不同特性;随着数据传输速率的增加,输出信号的眼图张开度减小,啁啾变大。  相似文献

A novel method for generating ultrawideband (UWB) monocycle pulses based on cross-gain modulation (XGM) in a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA) is proposed and experimentally demonstrated. Thanks to the XGM in the SOA, a pair of polarity-reversed optical Gaussian pulses is generated at the output of the SOA, to which a Gaussian pulse pump and a continuous-wave probe are applied. The two polarity-reversed optical pulses are then time delayed by two cascaded fiber Bragg gratings to introduce a time delay difference. A UWB monocycle pulse with a full width at half-maximum of 48 ps and a fractional bandwidth of 188% is generated at the output of a high-speed photodetector.  相似文献

采用半导体光放大器(SOA)中的瞬态交叉相位调制效应是实现高速全光信号处理的有效途径.利用SOA和带宽为0.4 nm的窄带滤波器同时实现了重复频率为10 GHz、脉冲宽度为10 ps的同相和反相全光波长转换.当滤波器的中心波长相对于探测光载波波长蓝移0.25 nm或者红移0.05 nm时,得到反相波长转换;当滤波器的中心波长相对于探测光波长蓝移0.29 nm或者红移0.25 nm时,得到同相的波长转换.同时用数值模拟了从同相到反相波长转换的极性演化过程,理论分析和实验结果基本相符. 关键词: 半导体光放大器 波长转换 瞬态交叉相位调制  相似文献

A novel technique to implement a microwave photonic filter structure with multiple taps and arbitrary frequency response is presented. The proposed filter is based on Four-Wave Mixing (FWM) and Cross-Gain Modulation (XGM) in a semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA). Two-tap notch filter and three-tap bandpass filter with arbitrary bipolar tap generation, high rejection ratio, and widely tunability are successfully demonstrated in the experiment. Extensions to this concept by adding new probe light to provide more taps and improve the bandwidth to high frequency regime are also discussed.  相似文献

We analyze the all-optical wavelength converter (AOWC)-based on cross-gain modulation (XGM) in a single-port-coupled (SPC) semiconductor optical amplifier (SOA). A comprehensive dynamic model is developed by considering longitudinal variations of the carrier density, the residual rear-facet reflectivity of the SOA and the wide-band spontaneous noise emission. The numerical simulations for the novel wavelength conversion at 10 Gbit/s are presented based on the model. The extinction ratio (ER), conversion efficiency and pattern effect of the SPC-SOA-based wavelength converters are investigated, respectively. Compared with the traditional scheme of the double-portcoupled (DPC) SOA, the SPC-SOA scheme has better performance. We have obtained that the ER is higher than 10 dB with the pump wavelength turned over 15nm from experiments. The experimental results are in agreement with the simulation results.  相似文献
