Complex cross sections of the spin exchange are calculated for the first time for interacting Na and K atoms based on the data on the singlet (X 1Σ+) and triplet (a 3Σ+) potentials that describe the interaction of these alkali-metal atoms in the ground state. The obtained cross sections allow one to theoretically consider the polarization transfer processes and calculate the relaxation times and the magnetic resonance frequency shifts caused by Na-K spin-exchange collisions.  相似文献

The kinetics of the optical orientation of atoms in a helium-cesium gas-discharge plasma are considered, and kinetic equations describing the optical orientation of atoms in the case of two simultaneously occurring processes, viz., an elastic process (spin exchange) and an inelastic process (chemi-ionization), are derived. Collisions of alkali-metal atoms 133Cs and 85Rb in the ground state are considered in the energy interval of 10–4–10–2 au. Excitation cross sections at slow collisions of hydrogen and sodium atoms are calculated based on two sets of quantum-chemical data. The results of calculations permit one to conclude that, upon the excitation of the sodium atom from the ground state in the region of near-threshold energies, the cross sections are highly sensitive to matrix nonadiabaticity elements. In addition, the matrix nonadiabaticity element was varied for the transition 3s → 3p of the sodium atom at fixed collision energy near the reaction threshold. It was found that the variation leads to a significant change in the excitation cross section 3s → 3p, and the range of the energetic dependence of this cross section was determined.  相似文献

Ab initio calculations of the total scattering cross section for the collision system He → COPt(111) within the renormalized distorted wave Born approximation are reported. The interaction potential for this atom-adsorbate system consists of the usual two-body gas phase-like potential as well as two additional substrate mediated van der Waals contributions, all with similar long range behaviour. Comparison of the calculated cross sections for various incident velocities and angles with available experimental data is made without using any adjustable parameters in the potential to fit the data, and the importance of including the anisotropic and substrate-mediated forces is emphasized.  相似文献

Absolute measurements of total scattering cross sections for low energy (5-70 eV) electrons by metastable helium (2(3)S) atoms are presented. The measurements are performed using a magneto-optical trap which is loaded from a laser-cooled, bright beam of slow He(2(3)S) atoms. The data are compared with predictions from convergent close coupling and R matrix with pseudostate calculations, and we find good agreement between experiment and theory.  相似文献

The applicability of the geometrical model (GM) proposed in [14, 15] to calculate the ionization probability and cross section of atoms and ions during collisions with ions, including structural ions, was studied at high velocities of partners. The GM represents a version of the classical impulse approximation. It was shown that the GM in all cases under consideration allows estimation of the ionization probability and total corss section of an atom or an ion during collisions with ions with deviations of no more than 50% from the results of the classical Monte Carlo method. GM calculations are rather simple in computation respect and limit the ionization probability by unity at arbitrary impact parameters.  相似文献

We make a detailed study on the angular differential cross sections of positron–hydrogen collisions by using the momentum-space coupled-channels optical(CCO) method for incident energies below the H ionization threshold. The target continuum and the positronium(Ps) formation channels are included in the coupled-channels calculations via a complex equivalent-local optical potential. The critical points, which show minima in the differential cross sections, as a function of the scattering angle and the incident energy are investigated. The resonances in the angular differential cross sections are reported for the first time in this energy range. The effects of the target continuum and the Ps formation channels on the different cross sections are discussed.  相似文献

The relativistic eikonal approximation and a matching procedure are used to describe excitation and ionization of hydrogen-like atoms from an arbitrary discrete energy state by the impact of a highly charged relativistic bare ion. Bethe-type formulas are derived that are asymptotically valid in the limits of vc and Z ? 1, where v is the relative collision velocity, c is the speed of light, and Z is the ion charge.  相似文献

The scaling properties of one-electron target excitation cross sections in collisions between atoms and multiply charged ions are investigated. For the example of bare-ion (Z)-hydrogen collisions with various charge numbers Z it is shown that, in many-state calculations for Z ≥ 2 and energies E/Z ≈ 15–100 keV/amu, calculated 2p excitation cross sections lie approximately on a universal curve. This curve deviates from the one which has been derived earlier by Janev and Presnyakov for all Z on the basis of a simplified three-state model, and in fact results from a consistent three-state treatment show no scaling. The scaling properties of the excitation cross sections are easily understood in a purely classical model of distant collisions.  相似文献

We present theoretical singly- and doubly-differential ionization cross sections in collisions between antiprotons and helium atoms at 50 and 100 keV impact energies. The calculations were performed within the frame work of the continuum distorted wave eikonal initial state approximation and a three-body classical trajectory Monte Carlo method. We find clear evidence for the formation of the anti-cusp in the differential distributions.  相似文献

The spin exchange and chemi-ionization cross sections have been calculated for the metastable helium atom-potassium atom system in the ground state. The data on the spin exchange cross section in the system He(23 S 1)-K(42 S 1/2) have been obtained for the first time. The cross sections were calculated for the collision energies ranging from 2 × 10?4 to 60 × 10?4 au The chemi-ionization cross sections obtained have been compared with the data in the literature.  相似文献
