Given a set of points in the complex plane, an incomplete polynomial is defined as the one which has these points as zeros except one of them. The classical result known as Gauss-Lucas theorem on the location of zeros of polynomials and their derivatives is extended to convex linear combinations of incomplete polynomials. A minimization problem for a functional on a convex subsetC of a normed linear space is considered. Under certain hypotheses, optimality in a certain subset ofC implies the validity of first-order necessary optimality conditions for the problem inC. Combining results of Avakov about tangent directions to equality constraints given by smooth operators with results of Ben-Tal and Zowe, we formulate a second-order theory for optimality in the sense of Dubovitskii-Milyutin which gives nontrivial conditions also in the case of equality constraints given by nonregular operators. Secondorder feasible and tangent directions are defined to construct conical approximations to inequality and equality constraints which within a single construction lead to first- and second-order conditions of optimality for the problem also in the nonregular case. The definitions of secondorder feasible and tangent directions given in this paper allow for reparametrizations of the approximating curves and give approximating sets which form cones. The main results of the paper are a theorem which states second-order necessary condition of optimality and several corollaries which treat special cases. A complete characterization of the extremal subsets of Hilbert spaces, which is an infinite-dimensional generalization of the classical Jung theorem, is given. The behavior of the set of points near the Chebyshev sphere of such a subset with respect to the Kuratowski and Hausdorff measures of noncompactness is investigated.  相似文献

We propose a generalization of the classical Remainder Theorem for polynomials over commutative coefficient rings that allows calculating the remainder without using the long division method. As a consequence we obtain an extension of the classical Factor Theorem that provides a general divisibility criterion for polynomials. The arguments can be used in basic algebra courses and are suitable for building classroom/homework activities for college and high school students.  相似文献

This note is concerned with the generalization of Farkas' theorem and its application to derive optimality conditions for a mix-max problem. Farkas' theorem is generalized to a system of inequalities described by sup-min type positively homogeneous functions. This generalization allows us to deal with optimization problems consisting of objective and constraint functions whose directional derivatives are not necessarily convex with respect to the directions. We study an optimal control problem with quadratic objective functional for the three dimensional Navier-Stokes-Voigt equations in bounded domains. We show the existence of optimal solutions, the necessary optimality conditions and the sufficient optimality conditions.
