A newly designed 1.5th generation poly(amido amine) dendrimer with an azacrown core, hexylene spacers, and octyl terminals was spread on gold nanoparticle (Au-NP) suspension. The surface pressure-area isothermal curves indicated that the molecular area of dendrimer on Au-NP suspension was significantly smaller than that on water, indicating the formation of dendrimer/Au-NP composites. The dendrimer Langmuir films on the Au-NP suspension were transferred to copper grids at various surface pressures and observed by transmission electron microscopy. The transferred films consisted of a fractal-like network of nanoparticles at low surface pressure and of a defect-rich monolayer of nanoparticles at high surface pressure. From these results, it was suggested that the dendrimers bind Au-NPs, and dendrimer/Au-NP composites formed networks or monolayers at the interface. From the intensity decrease of the Au plasmon band of Au-NP suspension after the formation of composite, it was estimated that some (approximately 14) dendrimer molecules bind to one Au-NP. Furthermore, neutron reflectivity at the air/suspension interface and X-ray reflectivity of the film transferred on a silicon substrate revealed that the dendrimer molecules are localized on the upper-half surface of Au-NP. Metal affinity of azacrown, flexibility of hexylene spacer, and amphiphilicity of dendrimer with octyl terminals played important roles for the formation of dendrimer/Au-NP hybrid films. The present investigation proposed a new method to fabricate the self-assembled functional polymer/nanoparticle hybrid film.  相似文献

The thermal decomposition of hydroxyl-terminated generation-4 polyamidoamine dendrimer (G4OH) films deposited on Au surfaces has been compared with decomposition of the same dendrimer encapsulating an approximately 40-atom Pt particle (Pt-G4OH). Infrared absorption reflection spectroscopy studies showed that, when the films were heated in air to various temperatures up to 275 degrees C, the disappearance of the amide vibrational modes occurred at lower temperature for the Pt-G4OH film. Dendrimer decomposition was also investigated by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) in both air and argon atmospheres. For the G4OH dendrimer, complete decomposition was achieved in air at 500 degrees C, while decomposition of the Pt-G4OH dendrimer was completed at 400 degrees C, leaving only platinum metal behind. In a nonoxidizing argon atmosphere, a greater fraction of the G4OH decomposed below 300 degrees C, but all of the dendrimer fragments were not removed until heating above 550 degrees C. In contrast, Pt-G4OH decomposition in argon was similar to that in air, except that decomposition occurred at temperatures approximately 15 degrees C higher. Thermal decomposition of the dendrimer films on Au surfaces was also studied by temperature programmed desorption (TPD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) under ultrahigh vacuum conditions. Heating the G4OH films to 250 degrees C during the TPD experiment induced the desorption of large dendrimer fragments at 55, 72, 84, 97, 127, 146, and 261 amu. For the Pt-G4OH films, mass fragments above 98 amu were not observed at any temperature, but much greater intensities for H(2) desorption were detected compared to that of the G4OH film. XPS studies of the G4OH films demonstrated that significant bond breaking in the dendrimer did not occur until temperatures above 250 degrees C and heating to 450 degrees C caused dissociation of C=O, C-O, and C-N bonds. For the Pt-G4OH dendrimer films, carbon-oxygen and carbon-nitrogen bond scission was observed at room temperature, and further decomposition to atomic species occurred after heating to 450 degrees C. All of these results are consistent with the fact that the Pt particles inside the G4OH dendrimer catalyze thermal decomposition, allowing dendrimer decomposition to occur at lower temperatures. However, the Pt particles also catalyze bond scission within the dendrimer fragments so that decomposition of the dendrimer to gaseous hydrogen is the dominant reaction pathway compared to desorption of the larger dendrimer fragments observed in the absence of Pt particles.  相似文献

Novel peptide dendrimer with Lys-2His repeating units was recently synthesized, studied by NMR (Molecules, 2019, 24, 2481) and tested as a nanocontainer for siRNA delivery (Int. J. Mol. Sci., 2020, 21, 3138). Histidine amino acid residues were inserted in the spacers of this dendrimer. Increase of their charge with a pH decrease turns a surface-charged dendrimer into a volume-charged one and should change all properties. In this paper, the molecular dynamics simulation method was applied to compare the properties of the dendrimer in water with explicit counterions at two different pHs (at normal pH with neutral histidines and at low pH with fully protonated histidines) in a wide interval of temperatures. We obtained that the dendrimer at low pH has essentially larger size and size fluctuations. The electrostatic properties of the dendrimers are different but they are in good agreement with the theoretical soft sphere model and practically do not depend on temperature. We have shown that the effect of pairing of side imidazole groups is much stronger in the dendrimer with neutral histidines than in the dendrimer with protonated histidines. We also demonstrated that the capacity of a nanocontainer based on this dendrimer with protonated histidines is significantly larger than that of a nanocontainer with neutral histidines.  相似文献

A novel, rapid, inexpensive, and highly efficient convergent approach has been developed for the synthesis of a 32-amine-terminated G3 polyamide dendrimer by the hydrolysis of the dendrimer with trifluoroacetamide groups. The resulting dendrimer could be successfully modified with oligo(ethylene glycol) chains at its periphery to afford a novel water-soluble polyamide dendrimer. The structural homogeneity of the dendrimers was confirmed by NMR and MALDI-TOF mass spectroscopies.  相似文献

The ligand‐substituted poly(amido amine) dendrimer 2 containing terpyridine ligands located exclusively at the peripheries of the dendrimer and its iron‐containing dendrimer 3 have been synthesized using modification reactions. Cyclic voltammetric studies indicate that the external iron centers on the outer surface of the dendrimer are electrochemically equivalent. The treatment of 2 with Fe2+ ions leads to a dendrimer assembly due to the formation of iron complexes among the ligand‐substituted dendrimers.  相似文献

We report the first results of persistent spectral hole burning of dendrimer porphyrins having three‐, four‐, or five‐layered aryl ether dendritic arrays. We evaluate structural relaxations of dendrimer framework around the porphyrin core at low temperatures. A large environmental change around the porphyrin core, as evaluated from the hole area, was suppressed in dendrimer porphyrins of higher generation numbers, whereas a small environmental change, as evaluated from hole width, showed no dependence on the number of generations. The dendrimer porphyrins showed sharp holes at 20 K, suggesting a long dephasing time and the suppression of spontaneous spectral diffusion. The results of dendrimer‐embedded polymer sample indicated that the structural relaxation of polymer chain outside the dendrimer does not have an influence on the resonant frequency of the porphyrin core. © 2001 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. ABSTRACT

Electrostatic interactions are used to create a template-assisted supramolecular assembly consisting of a polymeric dendrimer at the core and amphiphilic substrates on the periphery. The dendrimer generation and the chemical structure of the amphiphiles are varied to construct multiple and distinct microenvironments within the dendrimer–ligand complex for encapsulation of small guest molecules. In particular, these investigations employ a guest molecule that is a neutral fluorescent probe that exhibits an emission wavelength with an extreme sensitivity to the polarity of its surroundings. Partitioning of the fluorophore within the various microregions of the dendrimer–surfactant supramolecular complex is distinguished by the characteristic emission wavelengths of the overlapping Gaussian functions comprising the overall fluorescence spectrum. The observed variations in the prodan emission spectrum suggest interaction of prodan at protonated amino groups (460-nm emission), within dendritic branches and surfactant tails (490-nm emission), and in interior regions of the dendrimer core (430-nm emission). We demonstrate that the positioning of the guest molecule within the supramolecular complex can be modulated through the selection of dendrimer generation, surfactant chain length, and dendrimer:surfactant concentration ratio.  相似文献

Geometric disassembly of dendritic structures was realized by a cascade cleavage reaction triggered by an initially stimulated group at the dendrimer core. Release of an exponential number of dendrimer fragments was a result of the branching nature of the cleavage pathway. Evidence for the completion of the disassembly process was provided by the absorbance peak of the p-nitrophenoxide ion that was covalently installed at the periphery of the dendrons for this purpose. The release by dendrimer disassembly of an exponential number of dendrimer fragments that serve to alter the properties of a system is termed dendritic amplification.  相似文献

We theoretically study the trapping time distribution and the efficiency of the excitation energy transport in dendritic systems. Trapping of excitations, created at the periphery of the dendrimer, on a trap located at its core, is used as a probe of the efficiency of the energy transport across the dendrimer. The transport process is treated as incoherent hopping of excitations between nearest-neighbor dendrimer units and is described using a rate equation. We account for radiative and nonradiative decay of the excitations while diffusing across the dendrimer. We derive exact expressions for the Laplace transform of the trapping time distribution and the efficiency of trapping, and analyze those for various realizations of the energy bias, number of dendrimer generations, and relative rates for decay and hopping. We show that the essential parameter that governs the trapping efficiency is the product of the on-site excitation decay rate and the trapping time (mean first passage time) in the absence of decay.  相似文献

Catalytic sites can be placed at the core, at interior positions or at the periphery of a dendrimer. There are many examples of the use of peripherally functionalized dendrimers in catalysis and this subject has been thoroughly reviewed in the recent literature. This review is concerned only with dendrimer based catalysis involving catalytic sites at the core of a dendrimer and within the interior voids. In covering the significant achievements in this area, we have concentrated on examples that highlight key features with respect to positive and/or negative catalytic activity.  相似文献

We have developed a graphical user interface based dendrimer builder toolkit (DBT) which can be used to generate the dendrimer configuration of desired generation for various dendrimer architectures. The validation of structures generated by this tool was carried out by studying the structural properties of two well known classes of dendrimers: ethylenediamine cored poly(amidoamine) (PAMAM) dendrimer, diaminobutyl cored poly(propylene imine) (PPI) dendrimer. Using full atomistic molecular dynamics (MD) simulation we have calculated the radius of gyration, shape tensor and monomer density distribution for PAMAM and PPI dendrimer at neutral and high pH. A good agreement between the available simulation and experimental (small angle X‐ray and neutron scattering; SAXS, SANS) results and calculated radius of gyration was observed. With this validation we have used DBT to build another new class of nitrogen cored poly(propyl ether imine) dendrimer and study it's structural features using all atomistic MD simulation. DBT is a versatile tool and can be easily used to generate other dendrimer structures with different chemistry and topology. The use of general amber force field to describe the intra‐molecular interactions allows us to integrate this tool easily with the widely used molecular dynamics software AMBER. This makes our tool a very useful utility which can help to facilitate the study of dendrimer interaction with nucleic acids, protein and lipid bilayer for various biological applications. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.  相似文献

Polymeric membranes comprised of poly(amidoamine) (PAMAM) dendrimer immobilized in a poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) network exhibit an excellent CO2 separation selectivity over H2. The CO2 permeability increases with PAMAM dendrimer concentration in the polymeric membrane and becomes 500 times greater than H2 permeability when the dendrimer content was 50 wt % at ambient conditions (5 kPa of CO2 partial pressure). However, the detailed morphology of the membrane has not been discussed. The immiscibility of PAMAM dendrimer and PEG matrix results in phase separation, which takes place in a couple of microns scale. Especially, laser scanning confocal microscope captures a 3D morphology of the polymeric blend. The obtained 3D reconstructions demonstrate a bicontinuous structure of PAMAM dendrimer‐rich and PEG‐rich phases, which indicates the presence of PAMAM dendrimer channel penetrating the polymeric membrane, and CO2 will preferentially pass through the dendrimer channel. In addition, Fourier transform of the 3D reconstructions indicates the presence of a periodic structure. An average size of the dendrimer domain calculated is 2–4 μm in proportion to PAMAM dendrimer concentration. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part B: Polym Phys, 2012  相似文献

Newly designed poly(amido amine) dendrimers, which have an azacrown core, hexyl spacers, and methyl ester terminals (aza-C6-PAMAM dendrimer), were spread at the air-water and air-silver nanoparticle suspension interfaces, and their film structures were examined by surface pressure-area (pi-A) and surface potential-area (DeltaV-A) isotherms and epifluorescence microscopy. It was revealed that generation (G) 1.5 aza-C6-PAMAM dendrimer on a water subphase formed homogeneous film with face-on configuration, and this configuration was maintained during compression. On the other hand, a G2.5 dendrimer film on the air-water interface took initially homogeneous and face-on configuration that was followed by the conformational change during compression. Using a silver nanoparticle suspension as subphase, G1.5 film was significantly reinforced, and the partial collapse (cracks) in the film appeared as network texture. For a G2.5 dendrimer film, the pi-A and DeltaV-A isotherm properties were similar to that on the water subphase except for the collapsed film; small spots instead of cracks were formed under the film after collapse. These effects of the silver nanoparticle may be due to the formation of a dendrimer/silver nanoparticle composite. The formation process of the nanocomposite film was verified by UV-vis spectroscopy. For the G1.5 dendrimer, silver clusters and nanoparticles adsorbed to the dendrimer film after spreading and formed a small amount of aggregates. During compression, the aggregation proceeded even at low surface pressure. For the G2.5 dendrimer, a dendrimer/nanoparticle composite was also formed after spreading. However, with the initial compression, the absorption bands of clusters, nanoparticles, and aggregate increased together. Upon further compression, while the bands of cluster and nanoparticles decreased, the bands of aggregate still increased. These results suggest that the G2.5 dendrimer covered the cluster and nanoparticles more efficiently than the G1.5 dendrimer did because of the larger molecular size.  相似文献

Molecular encapsulation of water-soluble anionic fluorescent dye molecules, 8-anilino-1-naphthalenesulfonic acid (ANS), and its bimolecular derivative (bis-ANS), in the generation 3.5 polyamidoamine (G3.5 PAMAM) dendrimer was investigated in the bulk aqueous phase and at the polarized water|1,2-dichloroethane interface. ANS(-) was electrostatically incorporated in the dendrimer, and the fluorescence enhancement with a blue shift of the emission maximum was observed at pH values <6, where the interior of the dendrimer was positively charged. The fluorescence enhancement of ANS was maximized around pH 3 and then decreased under more acidic conditions. The potential dependences of the molecular encapsulation and the interfacial mechanism were studied in detail by means of potential modulated fluorescence (PMF) spectroscopy. Under acidic conditions, the dendrimer incorporated ANS(-) at the positively polarized interface as well as in the aqueous phase. ANS(-) was released from the dendrimer at the intrinsic transfer potential and independently transferred across the interface. Bis-ANS exhibited relatively strong interaction with the dendrimer over a wide pH range (1 < pH < 8), and a negative shift of the transfer potential was observed under the corresponding pH condition. The PMF analysis clearly demonstrated that the interfacial mechanism of the dendrimer involves transfer and adsorption processes depending on the pH condition and the Galvani potential difference.  相似文献

Interaction forces between two gold surfaces with adsorbed poly(amidoamine) (PAMAM) dendrimers (generations G3.0 and G5.0) have been investigated using colloidal probe atomic force microscopy (AFM). In the absence of dendrimers or at their low concentrations, an attractive force derived from the van der Waals interaction was observed. On the other hand, this attractive interaction changed to repulsion with increasing dendrimer concentration. The origin of the repulsion can be attributed to either an electric double layer interaction or a steric effect of the adsorbed dendrimers, depending on the concentration of dendrimer. The steric hindrance was also influenced by the generation of the dendrimer; the force-detectable distance in the presence of PAMAM G5.0 dendrimer was slightly longer than that in the presence of G3.0 dendrimer. In order to estimate the occupied area of each dendrimer adsorbed on gold, quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) measurement was also carried out.  相似文献

Self-assembled monolayers terminating in beta-cyclodextrin cavities can be used to bind ink molecules and so provide a molecular printboard for nanopatterning applications. Multivalent or multisite binding strengthens the attachment of large inks and provides more robust patterns. In the present work we use computer simulations to probe the behavior of functionalized dendrimer inks at the printboard. We performed a series of long 10 ns fully atomistic molecular dynamics (MD) simulations to measure the effective local concentration of unbound ink anchor groups at the printboard for a variety of binding modes and also for the partial unbinding prerequisite for ink diffusion on the printboard. These simulations allow us to describe the conformational space occupied by partially bound inks and estimate the likelihood of an additional binding interaction. Furthermore, by simulating the shift from a divalent to monovalent binding mode we show that the released anchor quickly moves to the periphery of the dendrimer binding hemisphere but then reapproaches the printboard and remains in the vicinity of alternative binding sites. Secondary electrostatic interactions between the protonated dendrimer core and hydroxyl groups at the entrance to the beta-cyclodextrin cavities give "flattened" dendrimer binding orientations and may aid dendrimer diffusion on the printboard, allowing the dendrimer to "walk" along the printboard by switching between different partially bound states and minimizing complete unbinding to bulk solution, crucial for the application of the printboard in, for example, medical diagnostics.  相似文献

The investigations aim at revealing the ability of a 1,8-napthalimide-modified poly(amidoamine) dendrimer from second generation to respond to the presence of cuprum cations and protons in the environment. It has been established that a single Cu(2+) cation present in the dendrimer molecule is capable of quenching more than 78% of its fluorescence what is an indication of high sensitiveness. An enhancement of the fluorescence emission of the dendrimer has been observed in acidic medium. It has been established that the processes of coordinating the ions in different sites of the dendrimer are reversible.  相似文献

A novel sugar‐containing poly(ornithine) dendrimer is synthesized for possible antigen delivery and related applications. The dendrimer contains an ornithine dendron as interior scaffolding and oligosaccharides on the periphery, which provide an attachment site for a peptide antigen. Maltose or lactose is bound to both hemispherical and spherical poly(ornithine) dendrimer generation 3 (G3) by reductive amination between its reducing end and the peripheral amino group of the dendrimer using a borane‐pyridine complex in a buffer solution at 50 °C. The degree of substitution of sugar is changed by varying the molar ratio of sugar to dendrimer. When the surface of spherical poly(ornithine) dendrimer G3 is modified by binding β‐alanine to the 16 amino groups, highly substituted maltose‐ or lactose‐β‐alanine‐poly(ornithine) dendrimer G3 is obtained in high yield after 7 days of reaction. The structures of these sugar‐containing dendrimers are characterized by NMR and matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization time‐of‐flight mass spectrometry analyses. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
