The ligands 4-methylthio-6-phenyl-2,2'-bipyridine (1) and the corresponding sulfoxide (2) and sulfone (3) have been synthesized and characterized in solution, and in the solid state by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Compounds 2 and 3 crystallize in the same space group (C2/c) with similar unit cell parameters; a small increase in the unit cell volume allows for the presence of the extra oxygen atom in 3. The sulfoxide and sulfone groups adopt conformations that permit intramolecular OHC(aryl) hydrogen bonds. The complexes [Ir(ppy)(2)L][PF(6)] with L = 1, 2 or 3 have been prepared and characterized. The asymmetric sulfur atom in ligand 2 gives rise to pairs of diastereoisomers of the complex which can be distinguished in the (1)H and (13)C NMR spectra. In solution, exchange of [PF(6)](-) by [Δ-TRISPHAT](-) gives rise to four diastereoisomers and we observed good dispersion of (1)H NMR resonances, especially for those assigned to protons close to the asymmetric sulfur atom. A single crystal X-ray diffraction study of 2{[Ir(ppy)(2)(3)][PF(6)]}·CHCl(3)·3H(2)O reveals that the complex crystallizes in the chiral space group P2(1)2(1)2(1), the asymmetric unit containing crystallographically independent Δ- and Λ-[Ir(ppy)(2)(3)](+) cations. This provides a rare example of a so-called kryptoracemate in the solid state. In MeCN solution, [Ir(ppy)(2)(1)][PF(6)], [Ir(ppy)(2)(2)][PF(6)] and [Ir(ppy)(2)(3)][PF(6)] are weakly emissive (λ(em) = 600, 647 and 672 nm, respectively) and preliminary studies of the electroluminescent properties of [Ir(ppy)(2)(2)][PF(6)] indicate that the complexes are not suitable candidates for LECs.  相似文献

The oxidation state of the chromium center in the following compounds has been probed using a combination of chromium K-edge X-ray absorption spectroscopy and density functional theory: [Cr(phen)(3)][PF(6)](2) (1), [Cr(phen)(3)][PF(6)](3) (2), [CrCl(2)((t)bpy)(2)] (3), [CrCl(2)(bpy)(2)]Cl(0.38)[PF(6)](0.62) (4), [Cr(TPP)(py)(2)] (5), [Cr((t)BuNC)(6)][PF(6)](2) (6), [CrCl(2)(dmpe)(2)] (7), and [Cr(Cp)(2)] (8), where phen is 1,10-phenanthroline, (t)bpy is 4,4'-di-tert-butyl-2,2'-bipyridine, and TPP(2-) is doubly deprotonated 5,10,15,20-tetraphenylporphyrin. The X-ray crystal structures of complexes 1, [Cr(phen)(3)][OTf](2) (1'), and 3 are reported. The X-ray absorption and computational data reveal that complexes 1-5 all contain a central Cr(III) ion (S(Cr) = (3)/(2)), whereas complexes 6-8 contain a central low-spin (S = 1) Cr(II) ion. Therefore, the electronic structures of 1-8 are best described as [Cr(III)(phen(?))(phen(0))(2)][PF(6)](2), [Cr(III)(phen(0))(3)][PF(6)](3), [Cr(III)Cl(2)((t)bpy(?))((t)bpy(0))], [Cr(III)Cl(2)(bpy(0))(2)]Cl(0.38)[PF(6)](0.62), [Cr(III)(TPP(3?-))(py)(2)], [Cr(II)((t)BuNC)(6)][PF(6)](2), [Cr(II)Cl(2)(dmpe)(2)], and [Cr(II)(Cp)(2)], respectively, where (L(0)) and (L(?))(-) (L = phen, (t)bpy, or bpy) are the diamagnetic neutral and one-electron-reduced radical monoanionic forms of L, and TPP(3?-) is the one-electron-reduced doublet form of diamagnetic TPP(2-). Following our previous results that have shown [Cr((t)bpy)(3)](2+) and [Cr(tpy)(2)](2+) (tpy = 2,2':6',2"-terpyridine) to contain a central Cr(III) ion, the current results further refine the scope of compounds that may be described as low-spin Cr(II) and reveal that this is a very rare oxidation state accessible only with ligands in the strong-field extreme of the spectrochemical series.  相似文献

Four copper complexes with hydroxylated bipyridyl-like ligands, namely [Cu(2)(ophen)(2)] (1), [Cu(4)(ophen)(4)(tp)] (2), [Cu(4)(obpy)(4)(tp)] (3), and [Cu(4)(obpy)(4)(dpdc)].2H(2)O (4), (Hophen=2-hydroxy-1,10-phenanthroline, Hobpy=6-hydroxy-2,2'-bipyridine, tp=terephthalate, dpdc=diphenyl-4,4'-dicarboxylate) have been synthesized hydrothermally. X-ray single-crystal structural analyses of these complexes reveal that 1,10-phenanthroline (phen) or 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy) ligands are hydroxylated into ophen or obpy during the reaction, which provides structural evidence for the long-time argued Gillard mechanism. The dinuclear copper(I) complex 1 has three supramolecular isomers in the solid state, in which short copper-copper distances (2.66-2.68 A) indicate weak metal-metal bonding interactions. Each of the mixed-valence copper(i,ii) complexes 2-4 consists of a pair of [Cu(2)(ophen)(2)](+) or [Cu(2)(obpy)(2)](+) fragments bridged by a dicarboxylate ligand into a neutral tetranuclear dumbbell structure. Dinuclear 1 is an intermediate in the formation of 2 and can be converted into 2 in the presence of additional copper(II) salt and tp ligands under hydrothermal conditions. In addition to the ophen-centered pi-->pi* excited-state emission, 1 shows strong emissions at ambient temperature, which may be tentatively assigned as an admixture of copper-centered d-->s,p and MLCT excited states.  相似文献

Addition of 2,2'-bipyridine (bipy) to [Ni(NO)(bipy)][PF(6)] (1) results in formation of a rare five-coordinate nickel nitrosyl [Ni(NO)(bipy)(2)][PF(6)] (2). This complex exhibits a bent NO(-) ligand in the solid state. On standing in acetonitrile, 2 furnishes the NO coupled product, [Ni(κ(2)-O(2)N(2))(bipy)] (8) in moderate yield. Subsequent addition of 2 equiv of acetylacetone (H(acac)) to 8 results in formation of [Ni(acac)(2)(bipy)], N(2)O, and H(2)O. Preliminary mechanistic studies suggest that the N-N bond is formed via a bimetallic coupling reaction of two NO(-) ligands.  相似文献

A novel three-dimensional copper molybdate with mixed ligands, [[Cu(II)(2,2'-bpy)][Cu(II)(IN)(2)][Mo(4)O(12)(OH)(2)]] (IN(-) = isonicotinate ion, 2,2'-bpy = 2,2'-bipyridine), 1, has been hydrothermally synthesized and structurally characterized, and this compound is built from an unprecedented tetranuclear molybdenum oxide cluster covalently bonded to two types of copper complex fragments, [Cu(II)(2,2'-bpy)](2+) and [Cu(II)(IN)(2)], via terminal oxygen atoms of [MoO(6)] octahedra. Crystal data for compound 1: monoclinic, space group C2/c, a = 16.4755 A, b = 10.3714 A, c = 17.4382 A, alpha = 90.0000 degrees, beta = 94.8098 degrees, gamma = 90.0000 degrees; V = 2969.24 A(3); Z = 2. Variable temperature magnetic susceptibility indicates that both ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic interactions exist in 1.  相似文献

Copper(I) complexes of tripodal tris(N-methyl-4,5-diphenyl-imidazolyl)methane ligands, N3CR (1a-c, R = OH, OMe, H), have been prepared as models for the Cu(A) site of copper hydroxylase enzymes. In the absence of additional donors, the ligands 1 react with [Cu(CH3CN)4]PF6 (2) to produce dinuclear complexes [(N3CR)2Cu2](PF6)2 (3) in which the tripodal ligands bridge two trigonal Cu centers; the structures of 3b and 3c are established by X-ray diffraction. Mononuclear adducts [(N3CR)CuL]Z are produced with L = acetonitrile (4), carbon monoxide (5), and t-BuNC (6, 7). The carbonyl complexes 5 are in dynamic equilibrium with the dimeric complexes 3, but 5c (R = H) can be isolated. The structures of the isocyanide derivatives depend critically on the tripod methane substituent, R. Thus, the X-ray structures of 6 (R = OMe) and 7 (R = H) show trigonal and tetrahedral geometries, respectively, with bi- or tridentate coordination of the tripod. A trinuclear complex [Cu3(N3COH)2(t-BuNC)2](PF6)3 (8) is formed from N3COH (1a) which features both three-coordinate and two-coordinate Cu atoms and bidentate tripod coordination. Reactions of dioxygen with dinuclear 3c or mononuclear [(N3CR)CuL]Z are sluggish, producing from the latter in acetone [(N3CH)CuII(L)(L')](PF6)2 (9, L = acetone, L' = H2O).  相似文献

The photophysical and electrochemical properties of the novel complexes [Ir(ppy)(2)(5-X-1,10-phen)][PF(6)] (ppy = 2-phenylpyridine, phen = phenanthroline, X = NMe(2), NO(2)), [Ir(pq)(2)(5-X-1,10-phen)][PF(6)] (pq = 2-phenylquinoline, X = H, Me, NMe(2), NO(2)), [Ir(ppy)2(4-Me,7-Me-1,10-phen)][PF(6)], [Ir(ppy)2(5-Me,6-Me-1,10-phen)][PF(6)], [Ir(ppy)(2)(2-Me,9-Me-1,10-phen)][PF(6)], and [Ir(pq)2(4-Ph,7-Ph-1,10-phen)][PF(6)] have been investigated and compared with those of the known reference complexes [Ir(ppy)(2)(4-Me or 5-H or 5-Me-1,10-phen)][PF(6)] and [Ir(ppy)(2)(4-Ph,7-Ph-1,10-phen)][PF(6)], showing how the nature and number of the phenanthroline substituents tune the color of the emission, its quantum yield, and the emission lifetime. It turns out that the quantum yield is strongly dependent on the nonradiative decay. The geometry, ground state, electronic structure, and excited electronic states of the investigated complexes have been calculated on the basis of density functional theory (DFT) and time-dependent DFT approaches, thus substantiating the electrochemical measurements and providing insight into the electronic origin of the absorption spectra and of the lowest excited states involved in the light emission process. These results provide useful guidelines for further tailoring of the photophysical properties of ionic Ir(III) complexes.  相似文献

Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes with the anions of the model nucleobases 1-methylthymine (1-MethyH), 1-methyluracil (1-MeuraH), and 1-methylcytosine (1-MecytH) of the types [Pd(dmba)(mu-L)]2 [dmba = N,C-chelating 2-((dimethylamino)methyl)phenyl; L = 1-Methy, 1-Meura or 1-Mecyt] and [M(dmba)(L)(L')] [L = 1-Methy or 1-Meura; L' = PPh(3) (M = Pd or Pt), DMSO (M = Pt)] have been obtained. Palladium complexes of the types [Pd(C6F5)(N-N)(L)] [L = 1-Methy or 1-Meura; N-N = N,N,N',N'-tetramethylethylenediamine (tmeda), 2,2'-bipyridine (bpy), or 4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine (Me2bpy)] and [NBu4][Pd(C6F5)(1-Methy)2(H2O)] have also been prepared. The crystal structures of [Pd(dmba)(mu-1-Methy)]2, [Pd(dmba)(mu-1-Mecyt)]2.2CHCl3, [Pd(dmba)(1-Methy)(PPh3)].3CHCl3, [Pt(dmba)(1-Methy)(PPh3)], [Pd(tmeda)(C6F5)(1-Methy)], and [NBu4][Pd(C6F5)(1-Methy)2(H2O)].H2O have been established by X-ray diffraction. The DNA adduct formation of the new platinum complexes synthesized was followed by circular dichroism and electrophoretic mobility. Atomic force microscopy images of the modifications caused by the platinum complexes on plasmid DNA pBR322 were also obtained. Values of IC50 were also calculated for the new platinum complexes against the tumor cell line HL-60. All the new platinum complexes were more active than cisplatin (up to 20-fold in some cases).  相似文献

Four new Ru(II) complexes, [Ru(bpy)(2)(4,4'-BP2bpy)][PF(6)](2) (1), [Ru(t-Bu-bpy)(2)(4,4'-BP2bpy)][PF(6)](2) (2), [Ru(bpy)(2)(5,5'-BP2bpy)][PF(6)](2) (3), and [Ru(t-Bu-bpy)(2)(5,5'-BP2bpy)][PF(6)](2) (4) have been synthesized (where 4,4'-BP2bpy = 4,4'-bis(BMes(2)phenyl)-2,2'-bpy; 5,5'-BP2bpy = 5,5'-bis(BMes(2)phenyl)-2,2'-bpy (4,4'-BP2bpy); and t-Bu-bpy = 4,4'-bis(t-butyl)-2,2'-bipyridine). These new complexes have been fully characterized. The crystal structures of 3 and 4 were determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction analyses. All four complexes display distinct metal-to-ligand charge transfer (MLCT) phosphorescence that has a similar quantum efficiency as that of [Ru(bpy)(3)][PF(6)](2) under air, but is at a much lower energy. The MLCT phosphorescence of these complexes has been found to be highly sensitive toward anions such as fluoride and cyanide, which switch the MLCT band to higher energy when added. The triarylboron groups in these compounds not only introduce this color switching mechanism, but also play a key role in the phosphorescence color of the complexes.  相似文献

The synthesis, characterization, and photophysical properties of the N6-N5C bichromophoric [(bpy)2Ru(I)Ru(ttpy)][PF6]3 (bpy is 2,2'-bipyridine and ttpy is 4'-p-tolyl-2,2':6',2'-terpyridine) and [(bpy)2Ru(II)Ru(ttpy)][PF6]3 (I and II are bpy-dipyridylbenzene ditopic ligands bridged by an ethynyl and phenyl unit, respectively) complexes are reported together with the model mononuclear complexes [(bpy)2Ru(I)][PF6]2, [(bpy)2Ru(II)][PF6]2, [Ru(VI)(ttpy)][PF6] (VI is 3,5-di(2-pyridyl)-biphenyl) and [Ru(dpb)(ttpy)][PF(6)] (Hdpb is 1,3-di(2-pyridyl)-benzene). The electrochemical data show that there is little ground state electronic communication between the metal centers in the bimetallic complexes. Selective excitation of the N(5)C unit in the bichromophoric systems leads to luminescence typical for a bis-tridentate cyclometallated ruthenium complex and is similar to the [Ru(VI)(ttpy)][PF6] model complex. In contrast, the luminescence from the tris-bidentate N6 unit is efficiently quenched by energy transfer to the N5C unit. The energy transfer rate has been determined by femtosecond pump-probe measurements to 0.7 ps in the ethynyl-linked [(bpy)2Ru(I)Ru(ttpy)][PF6]3 and to 1.5 ps in the phenyl-linked [(bpy)2Ru(II)Ru(ttpy)][PF6]3 (in acetonitrile solution at 298 K), and is inferred to occur via a Dexter mechanism.  相似文献

We have developed and optimized a well-controlled and refined methodology for the synthesis of substituted π-conjugated 4,4'-styryl-2,2'-bipyridine ligands and also adapted the tris(heteroleptic) synthetic approach developed by Mann and co-workers to produce two new representative Ru(II)-based complexes bearing the metal oxide surface-anchoring precursor 4,4'-bis[E-(p-methylcarboxy-styryl)]-2,2'-bipyridine. The two targeted Ru(II) complexes, (4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine)(4,4'-di-tert-butyl-2,2'-bipyridine)(4,4'-bis[E-(p-methylcarboxy-styryl)]-2,2'-bipyridine) ruthenium(II) hexafluorophosphate, [Ru(dmbpy)(dtbbpy)(p-COOMe-styryl-bpy)](PF(6))(2) (1) and (4,4'-dimethyl-2,2'-bipyridine)(4,4'-dinonyl-2,2'-bipyridine)(4,4'-bis[E-(p-methylcarboxy-styryl)]-2,2'-bipyridine) ruthenium(II) hexafluorophosphate, [Ru(dmbpy)(dnbpy)(p-COOMe-styryl-bpy)](PF(6))(2) (2) were obtained as analytically pure compounds in high overall yields (>50% after 5 steps) and were isolated without significant purification effort. In these tris(heteroleptic) molecules, NMR-based structural characterization became nontrivial as the coordinated ligand sets each sense profoundly distinct magnetic environments greatly complicating traditional 1D spectra. However, rational two-dimensional approaches based on both homo- and heteronuclear couplings were readily applied to these structures producing quite definitive analytical characterization and the associated methodology is described in detail. Preliminary photoluminescence and photochemical characterization of 1 and 2 strongly suggests that both molecules are energetically and kinetically suitable to serve as sensitizers in energy-relevant applications.  相似文献

The syntheses and study of the spectroscopic, redox, and photophysical properties of a new set of species based on Ir(III) cyclometalated building blocks are reported. This set includes three dinuclear complexes, that is, the symmetric (with respect to the bridging ligand) diiridium species [(ppy)(2)Ir(mu-L-OC(O)-C(O)O-L)Ir(ppy)(2)][PF(6)](2) (5; ppy = 2-phenylpyridine anion; L-OC(O)-C(O)O-L = bis[4-(6'-phenyl-2,2'-bipyridine-4'-yl)phenyl]-benzene-1,4-dicarboxylate), the asymmetric diiridium species [(ppy)(2)Ir(mu-L-OC(O)-L)Ir(ppy)(2)][PF(6)](2) (3; L-OC(O)-L = 4-([(6'-phenyl-2,2'-bipyridine-4'-yl)benzoyloxy]phenyl)-6'-phenyl-2,2'-bipyridine), and the mixed-metal Ir-Re species [(ppy)(2)Ir(mu-L-OC(O)-L)Re(CO)(3)Br][PF(6)] (4). Syntheses, characterization, and spectroscopic, photophysical, and redox properties of the model mononuclear compounds [Ir(ppy)(2)(L-OC(O)-L)][PF(6)] (2) and [Re(CO)(3)(L-COOH)Br] (6; L-COOH = 4'-(4-carboxyphenyl)-6'-phenyl-2,2'-bipyridine) are also reported, together with the syntheses of the new bridging ligands L-OC(O)-L and L-OC(O)-C(O)O-L. The absorption spectra of all the complexes are dominated by intense spin-allowed ligand-centered (LC) bands and by moderately intense spin-allowed metal-to-ligand charge-transfer (MLCT) bands. Spin-forbidden MLCT absorption bands are also visible as low-energy tails at around 470 nm for all the complexes. All the new species exhibit metal-based irreversible oxidation and bipyridine-based reversible reduction processes in the potential window investigated (between +1.80 and -1.70 V vs SCE). The redox behavior indicates that the metal-based orbitals are only weakly interacting in dinuclear systems, whereas the two chelating halves of the bridging ligands exhibit noticeable electronic interactions. All the complexes are luminescent both at 77 K and at room temperature, with emission originating from triplet MLCT states. The luminescence properties are temperature- and solvent-dependent, in accord with general theories: emission lifetimes and quantum yields increase on passing from acetonitrile to dichloromethane fluid solution and from room-temperature fluid solution to 77 K rigid matrix. In the dinuclear mixed-chromophore species 3 and 4, photoinduced energy transfer across the ester-linked bridging ligands seems to occur with low efficiency.  相似文献

Introduction Copper(I) complexes have received much attention for their being less expensive and environmentally friendly, various coordination geometry, rich photo-chemical and photophysical properties.1-7 It is well known that copper complexes with diimine (2,2'-bipy- ridine, 1,10-phenanthroline and their substituted deriva-tives designated as diimine) generally exhibit low en-ergy metal-to-ligand charge-transfer (MLCT) states lo-cated in the regions of 350650 nm (e ≈ 103—104 dm3昺ol-1昪…  相似文献

Air-stable rhenium(V) oxo complexes are formed when [ReOCl(3)(PPh(3))(2)] is treated with N-heterocyclic carbenes of the 1,3-dialkyl-4,5-dimethylimidazol-2-ylidene type, L(R) (R = Me, Et, i-Pr). Complexes of the compositions [ReO(2)(L(R))(4)](+), [ReOCl(L(R))(4)](2+), or [ReO(OMe)(L(R))(4)](2+) can be isolated depending on the alkyl substituents at the nitrogen atoms of the ligands and the reaction conditions applied. Despite the steric overcrowding of the equatorial coordination spheres of the metal atoms by each of the four carbene ligands, stable complexes with six-coordinate rhenium atoms are obtained. Steric demands of the alkyl groups allow control of the stability of the mono-oxo intermediates. Air-stable cationic complexes of the compositions [ReOCl(L(Me))(4)](2+), [ReOCl(L(Et))(4)](2+), and [ReO(OMe)(L(Me))(4)](2+) have been isolated, whereas reactions of [ReOCl(3)(PPh(3))(2)] or other rhenium(V) precursors with the more bulky 1,3-diisopropyl-4,5-dimethylimidazol-2-ylidene (L(i)(-)(Pr)) directly yield the dioxo complex [ReO(2)(L(i)(-)(Pr))(4)](+). X-ray structures of [ReO(2)(L(i)(-)(Pr))(4)][ReO(4)], [ReO(2)(L(i)(-)(Pr))(4)][PF(6)], [ReO(2)(L(Me))(4)][ReO(4)](0.45)[PF(6)](0.55), [ReO(MeOH)(L(Me))(4)][PF(6)](2), and [ReOCl(L(Et))(4)][PF(6)](2) show that the equatorial coordination spheres of the rhenium atoms are essentially planar irrespective of the steric demands of the individual carbene ligands.  相似文献

Coordination of N,N' bidentate ligands aryl-pyridin-2-ylmethyl-amine ArNH-CH2-2-C5H4N 1 (Ar = 4-CH3-C6H4, 1a; 4-CH3O-C6H4, 1b; 2,6-(CH3)2-C6H3, 1c; 4-CF3-C6H4, 1d) to the moieties [Ru(bipy)2]2+, [Ru(eta5-C5H5)L]+ (L = CH3CN, CO), or [Ru(eta6-arene)Cl]2+ (arene = benzene, p-cymene) occurs under diastereoselective or diastereospecific conditions. Detailed stereochemical analysis of the new complexes is included. The coordination of these secondary amine ligands activates their oxidation to imines by molecular oxygen in a base-catalyzed reaction and hydrogen peroxide was detected as byproduct. The amine-to-imine oxidation was also observed under the experimental conditions of cyclic voltammetry measurements. Deprotonation of the coordinated amine ligands afforded isolatable amido complexes only for the ligand (1-methyl-1-pyridin-2-yl-ethyl)-p-tolyl-amine, 1e, which doesn't contain hydrogen atoms in a beta position relative to the N-H bond. The structures of [Ru(2,2'-bipyridine)2(1b)](PF6)2, 2b; [Ru(2,2'-bipyridine)(2)(1c)](PF6)2, 2c; trans-[RuCl2(COD)(1a)], 3; and [RuCl2(eta6-C6H6)(1a)]PF6, 4a, have been confirmed by X-ray diffraction studies.  相似文献

Novel phenylazole ligands were applied successfully in the synthesis of cyclometalated iridium(III) complexes of the general formula [Ir(phenylazole)(2)(bpy)]PF(6) (bpy=2,2'-bipyridine). All complexes were fully characterized by NMR, IR, and MS spectroscopic studies as well as by cyclic voltammetry. Three crystal structures obtained by X-ray analysis complemented the spectroscopic investigations. The excited-state lifetimes of the iridium complexes were determined and showed to be in the range of several hundred ns to multiple μs. All obtained iridium complexes were active as photosensitizers in catalytic hydrogen evolution from water in the presence of triethylamine as a sacrificial reducing agent. Applying an in situ formed iron-based water reduction catalyst derived from [HNEt(3)](+) [HFe(3)(CO)(11)](-) and tris[3,5-tris-(trifluoromethyl)-phenyl]phosphine as the ligand, [Ir(2-phenylbenz-oxazole)(2)-(bpy)]PF(6) proved to be the most efficient complex giving a quantum yield of 16% at 440 nm light irradiation.  相似文献

Three heterometallic complexes [M(H(2)O)(n)][Cu(3)L(2)(H(2)O)] (M = Mn(2+), Co(2+) or Ba(2+)) and one dinuclear compound (CuDien)(CuL{H(2)O}) were prepared by interaction of anionic compounds Cu(3)L(2)(2-) or CuL(2-) with the corresponding cations (H(4)L = 1,9-dicyano-1,9-bis(hydroximino)-3,7-diazanonane-2,8-dione; Dien = 1,5-diamino-3-azapentane). The complexes [M(H(2)O)(n)][Cu(3)L(2)(H(2)O)] have a polymeric structure, formed via oligomerization of Cu(3)L(2)(2-) units and additionally, in the case of the Ba-salt, by binding of Cu(3)L(2)(2-) units through Ba(2+). Antiferromagnetic interactions occur in all the complexes, while for [Co(H(2)O)(6)][Cu(3)L(2)(H(2)O)] there is evidence of some ferromagnetic ordering at low temperatures. The values of J are lower in magnitude than for similar, previously reported systems, which is attributed to the electron-withdrawing effect of the ligand cyano groups.  相似文献

We describe the synthesis and characterization of 4'-tert-butyl-2,2':6',2'-terpyridine (4'-(t)Butpy, 1), a convergent tpy ligand that exhibits both a sterically demanding and solubilizing 4'-substituent. In the solid state, molecules of 1 pack with alternating tpy and tert-butyl domains, and the bulky alkyl substituents prevent the molecules from engaging in the face-to-face π-interactions which are typical of simple tpy ligands. Instead, the predominant packing forces involve CH···N hydrogen bonds and weak CH···π contacts. The syntheses of the homoleptic complexes [M(1)(2)][PF(6)](2) (M = Fe, Co, Zn and Ru) and the heteroleptic [Ru(tpy)(1)][PF(6)](2) are described. The complexes have been fully characterized in solution, including the (1)H NMR spectroscopic characterization of the paramagnetic [Co(1)(2)][PF(6)](2). Cyclic voltammetric data are consistent with the tert-butyl substituent being slightly electron releasing. The single crystal structures of [Zn(1)(2)][PF(6)](2) and [Ru(1)(2)][PF(6)](2) have been determined; the compounds are essentially isomorphous. The packing of the cations is such that the tert-butyl substituents are accommodated in pockets between the tpy domains of adjacent cations, and as a consequence, the {M(tpy)(2)}-embrace that is a ubiquitous feature of many related structures is not observed.  相似文献
