We suggest an efficient route minimization heuristic for the vehicle routing problem with time windows. The heuristic is based on the ejection pool, powerful insertion and guided local search strategies. Experimental results on the Gehring and Homberger’s benchmarks demonstrate that our algorithm outperforms previous approaches and found 18 new best-known solutions. 相似文献

Heuristic algorithms for a vehicle routing problem with simultaneous delivery and pickup and time windows in home health care 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
This paper addresses a vehicle scheduling problem encountered in home health care logistics. It concerns the delivery of drugs and medical devices from the home care company’s pharmacy to patients’ homes, delivery of special drugs from a hospital to patients, pickup of bio samples and unused drugs and medical devices from patients. The problem can be considered as a special vehicle routing problem with simultaneous delivery and pickup and time windows, with four types of demands: delivery from depot to patient, delivery from a hospital to patient, pickup from a patient to depot and pickup from a patient to a medical lab. Each patient is visited by one vehicle and each vehicle visits each node at most once. Patients are associated with time windows and vehicles with capacity. Two mixed-integer programming models are proposed. We then propose a Genetic Algorithm (GA) and a Tabu Search (TS) method. The GA is based on a permutation chromosome, a split procedure and local search. The TS is based on route assignment attributes of patients, an augmented cost function, route re-optimization, and attribute-based aspiration levels. These approaches are tested on test instances derived from existing VRPTW benchmarks. 相似文献

We generalize the standard vehicle routing problem by allowing soft time window and soft traveling time constraints, where both constraints are treated as cost functions. With the proposed generalization, the problem becomes very general. In our algorithm, we use local search to determine the routes of vehicles. After fixing the route of each vehicle, we must determine the optimal start times of services at visited customers. We show that this subproblem is NP-hard when cost functions are general, but can be efficiently solved with dynamic programming when traveling time cost functions are convex even if time window cost functions are non-convex. We deal with the latter situation in the developed iterated local search algorithm. Finally we report computational results on benchmark instances, and confirm the benefits of the proposed generalization. 相似文献

An iterated local search algorithm for the time-dependent vehicle routing problem with time windows 总被引:3,自引:0,他引:3
We generalize the standard vehicle routing problem with time windows by allowing both traveling times and traveling costs to be time-dependent functions. In our algorithm, we use a local search to determine routes of the vehicles. When we evaluate a neighborhood solution, we must compute an optimal time schedule for each route. We show that this subproblem can be efficiently solved by dynamic programming, which is incorporated in the local search algorithm. The neighborhood of our local search consists of slight modifications of the standard neighborhoods called 2- opt*, cross exchange and Or-opt. We propose an algorithm that evaluates solutions in these neighborhoods more efficiently than the ones computing the dynamic programming from scratch by utilizing the information from the past dynamic programming recursion used to evaluate the current solution. We further propose a filtering method that restricts the search space in the neighborhoods to avoid many solutions having no prospect of improvement. We then develop an iterated local search algorithm that incorporates all the above ingredients. Finally we report computational results of our iterated local search algorithm compared against existing methods, and confirm the effectiveness of the restriction of the neighborhoods and the benefits of the proposed generalization. 相似文献

The classical vehicle routing problem involves designing a set of routes for a fleet of vehicles based at one central depot that is required to serve a number of geographically dispersed customers, while minimizing the total travel distance or the total distribution cost. Each route originates and terminates at the central depot and customers demands are known. In many practical distribution problems, besides a hard time window associated with each customer, defining a time interval in which the customer should be served, managers establish multiple objectives to be considered, like avoiding underutilization of labor and vehicle capacity, while meeting the preferences of customers regarding the time of the day in which they would like to be served (soft time windows). This work investigates the use of goal programming to model these problems. To solve the model, an enumeration-followed-by-optimization approach is proposed which first computes feasible routes and then selects the set of best ones. Computational results show that this approach is adequate for medium-sized delivery problems. 相似文献

This paper integrates production and outbound distribution scheduling in order to minimize total tardiness. The overall problem consists of two subproblems. The first addresses scheduling a set of jobs on parallel machines with machine-dependent ready times. The second focusses on the delivery of completed jobs with a fleet of vehicles which may differ in their loading capacities and ready times. Job-dependent processing times, delivery time windows, service times, and destinations are taken into account. A genetic algorithm approach is introduced to solve the integrated problem as a whole. Two main questions are examined. Are the results of integrating machine scheduling and vehicle routing significantly better than those of classic decomposition approaches which break down the overall problem, solve the two subproblems successively, and merge the subsolutions to form a solution to the overall problem? And if so, is it possible to capitalize on these potentials despite the complexity of the integrated problem? Both questions are tackled by means of a numerical study. The genetic algorithm outperforms the classic decomposition approaches in case of small-size instances and is able to generate relatively good solutions for instances with up to 50 jobs, 5 machines, and 10 vehicles. 相似文献

The vehicle routing problem with multiple use of vehicles is a variant of the classical vehicle routing problem. It arises when each vehicle performs several routes during the workday due to strict time limits on route duration (e.g., when perishable goods are transported). The routes are defined over customers with a revenue, a demand and a time window. Given a fixed-size fleet of vehicles, it might not be possible to serve all customers. Thus, the customers must be chosen based on their associated revenue minus the traveling cost to reach them. We introduce a branch-and-price approach to address this problem where lower bounds are computed by solving the linear programming relaxation of a set packing formulation, using column generation. The pricing subproblems are elementary shortest path problems with resource constraints. Computational results are reported on euclidean problems derived from well-known benchmark instances for the vehicle routing problem with time windows. 相似文献

The Discrete Split Delivery Vehicle Routing Problem with Time Windows (DSDVRPTW) consists of designing the optimal set of routes to serve, at least cost, a given set of customers while respecting constraints on vehicles’ capacity and customer time windows. Each customer can be visited by more than one vehicle since each customer’s demand, discretized in items, can be split in orders, i.e., feasible combinations of items. In this work, we model the DSDVRPTW assuming that all feasible orders are known in advance. Remarkably, service time at customer’s location depends on the delivered combination of items, which is a modeling feature rarely found in literature. We present a flow-based mixed integer program for the DSDVRPTW, we reformulate it via Dantzig-Wolfe and we apply column generation. The proposed branch-and-price algorithm largely outperforms a commercial solver, as shown by computational experiments on Solomon-based instances. A comparison in terms of complexity between constant service time vs delivery-dependent service time is presented and potential savings are discussed. 相似文献

In this paper, we consider a real-life heterogeneous fleet vehicle routing problem with time windows and split deliveries that occurs in a major Brazilian retail group. A single depot attends 519 stores of the group distributed in 11 Brazilian states. To find good solutions to this problem, we propose heuristics as initial solutions and a scatter search (SS) approach. Next, the produced solutions are compared with the routes actually covered by the company. Our results show that the total distribution cost can be reduced significantly when such methods are used. Experimental testing with benchmark instances is used to assess the merit of our proposed procedure. 相似文献

Recent exact algorithms for solving the vehicle routing problem under capacity and time window constraints 总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2
This paper provides a review of the recent developments that had a major impact on the current state-of-the-art exact algorithms for the vehicle routing problem (VRP). The paper reviews mathematical formulations, relaxations and recent exact methods for two of the most important variants of the VRP: the capacitated VRP (CVRP) and the VRP with time windows (VRPTW). The paper also reports a comparison of the computational performances of the different exact algorithms for the CVRP and VRPTW. 相似文献

In this paper, we introduce a new variant of the Vehicle Routing Problem (VRP), namely the Two-Stage Vehicle Routing Problem with Arc Time Windows (TS_VRP_ATWs) which generally emerges from both military and civilian transportation. The TS_VRP_ATW is defined as finding the vehicle routes in such a way that each arc of the routes is available only during a predefined time interval with the objective of overall cost minimization. We propose a Mixed Integer Programming (MIP) formulation and a heuristic approach based on Memetic Algorithm (MA) to solve the TS_VRP_ATW. The qualities of both solution approaches are measured by using the test problems in the literature. Experimental results show that the proposed MIP formulation provides the optimal solutions for the test problems with 25 and 50 nodes, and some test problems with 100 nodes. Results also show that the proposed MA is promising quality solutions in a short computation time. 相似文献

Solving the pickup and delivery problem with three-dimensional loading constraints and reloading ban
In this paper, we extend the classical Pickup and Delivery Problem (PDP) to an integrated routing and three-dimensional loading problem, called PDP with three-dimensional loading constraints (3L-PDP). We are given a set of requests and a homogeneous fleet of vehicles. A set of routes of minimum total length has to be determined such that each request is transported from a loading site to the corresponding unloading site. In the 3L-PDP, each request is given as set of rectangular boxes and the vehicle capacity is replaced by a 3D loading space. This paper is the second one in a series of articles on 3L-PDP. As in the first paper we are dealing with constraints which guarantee that no reloading effort will occur. Here the focus is laid on the reloading ban, a packing constraint that ensures identical placements of same boxes in different packing plans. The reloading ban allows for better solutions in terms of travel distance than a routing constraint that was used in the first paper to preclude any reloading effort. To implement this packing constraint a new type of packing procedure is needed that is capable to generate a series of interrelated packing plans per route. This packing procedure, designed as tree search algorithm, and the corresponding concept of packing checks is the main contribution of the paper at hand. The packing procedure and a large neighborhood search procedure for routing form a hybrid algorithm for the 3L-PDP. Computational experiments were performed using 54 3L-PDP benchmark instances. 相似文献

This paper describes an exact algorithm for solving a problem where the same vehicle performs several routes to serve a set of customers with time windows. The motivation comes from the home delivery of perishable goods, where vehicle routes are short and must be combined to form a working day. A method based on an elementary shortest path algorithm with resource constraints is proposed to solve this problem. The method is divided into two phases: in the first phase, all non-dominated feasible routes are generated; in the second phase, some routes are selected and sequenced to form the vehicle workday. Computational results are reported on Euclidean problems derived from benchmark instances of the classical vehicle routing problem with time windows. 相似文献

This paper considers the vehicle routing problem with pickups and deliveries (VRPPD) where the same customer may require both a delivery and a pickup. This is the case, for instance, of breweries that deliver beer or mineral water bottles to a set of customers and collect empty bottles from the same customers. It is possible to relax the customary practice of performing a pickup when delivering at a customer, and postpone the pickup until the vehicle has sufficient free capacity. In the case of breweries, these solutions will often consist of routes in which bottles are first delivered until the vehicle is partly unloaded, then both pickup and delivery are performed at the remaining customers, and finally empty bottles are picked up from the first visited customers. These customers are revisited in reverse order, thus giving rise to lasso shaped solutions. Another possibility is to relax the traditional problem even more and allow customers to be visited twice either in two different routes or at different times on the same route, giving rise to a general solution. This article develops a tabu search algorithm capable of producing lasso solutions. A general solution can be reached by first duplicating each customer and generating a Hamiltonian solution on the extended set of customers. Test results show that while general solutions outperform other solution shapes in term of cost, their computation can be time consuming. The best lasso solution generated within a given time limit is generally better than the best general solution produced with the same computing effort. 相似文献

The fleet size and mix vehicle routing problem consists of defining the type, the number of vehicles of each type, as well as the order in which to serve the customers with each vehicle when a company has to distribute goods to a set of customers geographically spread, with the objective of minimizing the total costs. In this paper, a heuristic algorithm based on tabu search is proposed and tested on several benchmark instances. The computational results show that the proposed algorithm produces high quality results within a reasonable computing time. Some new best solutions are reported for a set of test problems used in the literature. 相似文献

Aerial robotics can be very useful to perform complex tasks in a distributed and cooperative fashion, such as localization of targets and search of point of interests (PoIs). In this work, we propose a distributed system of autonomous Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), able to self-coordinate and cooperate in order to ensure both spatial and temporal coverage of specific time and spatial varying PoIs. In particular, we consider an UAVs system able to solve distributed dynamic scheduling problems, since each device is required to move towards a certain position in a certain time. We give a mathematical formulation of the problem as a multi-criteria optimization model, in which the total distances traveled by the UAVs (to be minimized), the customer satisfaction (to be maximized) and the number of used UAVs (to be minimized) are considered simultaneously. A dynamic variant of the basic optimization model, defined by considering the rolling horizon concept, is shown. We introduce a case study as an application scenario, where sport actions of a football match are filmed through a distributed UAVs system. The customer satisfaction and the traveled distance are used as performance parameters to evaluate the proposed approaches on the considered scenario. 相似文献

We propose a branch-and-cut algorithm for the VRPSPD where the constraints that ensure that the capacities are not exceeded in the middle of a route are applied in a lazy fashion. The algorithm was tested in 87 instances with 50–200 customers, finding improved lower bounds and several new optimal solutions. 相似文献

Heuristic approaches for solving transit vehicle scheduling problem with route and fueling time constraints 总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Electric bus scheduling problem can be defined as vehicle scheduling problem with route and fueling time constraints (VSPRFTC). Every vehicle’s travel miles (route time) after charging is limited, thus the vehicle must be recharged after taking several trips and the minimal charging time (fueling time) must be satisfied. A multiple ant colony algorithm (ACA) was presented to solve VSPRFTC based on ACA used to solve traveling salesman problem (TSP), a new metaheuristic approach inspired by the foraging behavior of real colonies of ants. The VSPRFTC considered in this paper minimizes a multiple, hierarchical objective function: the first objective is to minimize the number of tours (or vehicles) and the second is to minimize the total deadhead time. New improvement of ACA as well as detailed operating steps was provided on the basis of former algorithm. Then in order to settle contradiction between accelerating convergence and avoiding prematurity or stagnation, improvement on route construction rule and Pheromone updating rule was adopted. A group feasible trip sets (blocks) had been produced after the process of applying ACA. In dealing with the fueling time constraint a bipartite graphic model and its optimization algorithm are developed for trip set connecting in a hub and spoke network system to minimize the number of vehicle required. The maximum matching of the bipartite graph is obtained by calculating the maximum inflow with the Ford–Fulkerson algorithm. At last, an example was analyzed to demonstrate the correctness of the application of this algorithm. It proved to be more efficient and robust in solving this problem. 相似文献

In the Vehicle Routing Problem with Deliveries, Selective Pickups and Time Windows, the set of customers is the union of delivery customers and pickup customers. A fleet of identical capacitated vehicles based at the depot must perform all deliveries and profitable pickups while respecting time windows. The objective is to minimize routing costs, minus the revenue associated with the pickups. Five variants of the problem are considered according to the order imposed on deliveries and pickups. An exact branch-and-price algorithm is developed for the problem. Computational results are reported for instances containing up to 100 customers. 相似文献
