In this paper an error estimate is derived, if λ∈[0, 1], for tile lacunaryquartic C2-spline interpolant which interpolates the first derivative of a given smooth function at the mesh points and as well as its second derivative at an arbitrary interior point between consecutive knots, if the mesh is uniform. The purpose of this paper is to obtain necessary and sufficient conditions for maximum defect spline approximation methods with uniform meshes to be stable. The methods are applied to operators belonging to the closed subalgebra of ℒ︁ (L2 (ℝ)) generated by operators of multiplication by piecewise continuous functions on ℝ and convolution operators also with piecewise continuousgenerating functions. To that purpose, a C*-algebra of sequences is introduced, which contains the special sequences of approximating operators we are interested in. There is a direct relationship between the applicability of the approximation method to a given operator and invertibility of the corresponding sequence in this C*-algebra. Exploring this relationship, applicability criteria are derived by the use of C*-algebra and Banach algebra techniques (essentialization, localization andidentification of the local algebras by means of construction of locally equivalent representations). Finally, examples are presented, including explicit conditions for the applicability of spline Galerkin methods to Wiener-Hopf operators with piecewise continuous symbols.  相似文献

Basic sphere geometric principles are used to analyze approximation schemes of developable surfaces with cone spline surfaces, i.e., G 1-surfaces composed of segments of right circular cones. These approximation schemes are geometrically equivalent to the approximation of spatial curves with G 1-arc splines, where the arcs are circles in an isotropic metric. Methods for isotropic biarcs and isotropic osculating arc splines are presented that are similar to their Euclidean counterparts. Sphere geometric methods simplify the proof that two sufficiently close osculating cones of a developable surface can be smoothly joined by a right circular cone segment. This theorem is fundamental for the construction of osculating cone spline surfaces. Finally, the analogous theorem for Euclidean osculating circular arc splines is given.  相似文献

We consider two dimensional surfaces ${X : \Omega\to\mathbb R^{n+2}, \Omega\subset \mathbb C, w=u+iv\mapsto X(w)}$ with arbitrary codimension n and prove a barrier principle for strong (possibly branched) subsolutions ${X\in C^1(\Omega, \mathbb {R}^{n+2})\cap H_{2,{\rm loc}}^2(\Omega,\mathbb R^{n+2})}$ of the integral inequality $$\int_{\Omega} \Big\lbrace \langle \nabla X, \nabla \varphi\rangle +2W \sum_{k=1}^n H_k \langle N_k,\varphi \rangle \Big\rbrace \; dudv\ge 0$$ with mean curvature functions (H k ) k=1,...,n which lie locally on one side of a supporting hypersurface S. We show under suitable assumption on the 2-mean curvature of the supporting surface S that X is locally contained in S. This generalizes a corresponding result for surfaces in ${\mathbb R^3}$ , cf. (Dierkes et al., Regularity of Minimal Surfaces, §4.4, 2010).  相似文献

We examine the numerical approximation of the integral equation (λ ? K)u =f, where K is the double layer (harmonic) potential operator on a closed polyhedral surface in ?3 and λ, ∣λ∣≥1, is a complex constant. The solution is approximated by Galerkin's method, which is based on piecewise polynomials of arbitrary degree on graded triangulations. By utilizing spline spaces which are modified in that the trial functions vanish on some of the triangles closest to the vertices and edges, we investigate the stability of this method in L2. Furthermore, the use of suitably graded meshes leads to the same quasioptimal error estimates as in the case of a smooth surface.  相似文献

This paper introduces a new technique for the formulation of parametric surfaces. Applying translation operations to tangent vectors ${n_{\circ} {\bf \upsilon}}$ results in null point pairs ${\tau}$ . We treat these null point pairs as surface and mesh curvature control points which can be interpolated and exponentiated to construct continuous topological transformations ${\mathcal{K}}$ of the form ${e^{{-}\frac{\tau}{2}}}$ 2. Some basic algorithms are proposed, including the boost which bends a line to a circle of curvature ${\kappa}$ , and the twisted boost which generates the Hopf fibration. We investigate methods to control curvature in two orthogonal directions u and v and examine a few distance-based and linear weighting techniques for synthesizing surface patches using multiple curvature control points. We consider the expressivity of the technique in manipulating meshes, and find that applying these rotors to mesh points provides a novel and computationally efficient method for creating boosted forms.  相似文献

A vector analog of the classical Calapso equation governing isothermic surfaces in R n +2 is introduced. It is shown that this vector Calapso system admits a nonlocal) scalar Lax pair based on the classical Moutard equation. The analog of Darboux's Bäcklund transformation for isothermic surfaces in R3 is derived in a systematic manner and shown that it may be formulated in terms of the classical Moutard transformation acting on the scalar Lax pair. A permutability theorem for isothermic surfaces is set down that manifests itself in an explicit superposition principle for the vector Calapso system. This superposition principle in vectorial form is shown to constitute an integrable discretization of the vector Calapso system and, therefore, defines discrete isothermic surfaces in R n +2. The discrete Calapso equation is related to the discrete Korteweg–de Vries equation and discrete holomorphic functions. A matrix Lax pair based on Clifford algebras and a scalar Lax pair are derived for the discrete Calapso equation. A discrete Moutard-type transformation for the discrete Calapso equation is obtained, and it is shown that the discrete Calapso equation may be specialized to an integrable discrete version of the O( n +2) nonlinear σ-model.  相似文献
