In this paper, by means of an active-set strategy, we present a trust-region method for solving box-constrained nonsmooth equations. Nice properties of the proposed method include: (a) all iterates remain feasible; (b) the search direction, as adequate combination of the projected gradient direction and the trust-region direction, is an asymptotic Newton direction under mild conditions; (c) the subproblem of the proposed method, possessing the form of an unconstrained trust-region subproblem, can be solved by existing methods; (d) the subproblem of the proposed method is of reduced dimension, which is potentially cheaper when applied to solve large-scale problems. Under appropriate conditions, we establish global and local superlinear/quadratic convergence of the method. Preliminary numerical results are given.  相似文献

In this paper a Matlab solver for constrained nonlinear equations is presented. The code, called STRSCNE, is based on the affine scaling trust-region method STRN, recently proposed by the authors. The approach taken in implementing the key steps of the method is discussed. The structure and the usage of STRSCNE are described and its features and capabilities are illustrated by numerical experiments. The results of a comparison with high quality codes for nonlinear optimization are shown.  相似文献

In this paper, we reinvestigate the trust-region method by reformulating its subproblem: the trust-region radius is guided by gradient information at the current iteration and is self-adaptively adjusted. A trust-region algorithm based on the proposed subproblem is proved to be globally convergent. Moreover, the superlinear convergence of the new algorithm is shown without the condition that the Hessian of the objective function at the solution be positive definite. Preliminary numerical results indicate that the performance of the new method is notable. The authors thank the Associate Editor and two anonymous referees for valuable comments and suggestions. A trust-region sequential quadratic programming (SQP) method is developed and analyzed for the solution of smooth equality constrained optimization problems. The trust-region SQP algorithm is based on filter line search technique and a composite-step approach, which decomposes the overall step as sum of a vertical step and a horizontal step. The algorithm includes critical modifications of horizontal step computation. One orthogonal projective matrix of the Jacobian of constraint functions is employed in trust-region subproblems. The orthogonal projection gives the null space of the transposition of the Jacobian of the constraint function. Theoretical analysis shows that the new algorithm retains the global convergence to the first-order critical points under rather general conditions. The preliminary numerical results are reported.  相似文献

Large scale nonlinear systems of equations can be solved by means of inexact quasi-Newton methods. A global convergence theory is introduced that guarantees that, under reasonable assumptions, the algorithmic sequence converges to a solution of the problem. Recently studies of numerical methods for degenerate nonlinear optimization problems have been attracted much attention. Several authors have discussed convergence properties without the linear independence constraint qualification and/or the strict complementarity condition. In this paper, we are concerned with quadratic convergence property of a primal-dual interior point method, in which Newton’s method is applied to the barrier KKT conditions. We assume that the second order sufficient condition and the linear independence of gradients of equality constraints hold at the solution, and that there exists a solution that satisfies the strict complementarity condition, and that multiplier iterates generated by our method for inequality constraints are uniformly bounded, which relaxes the linear independence constraint qualification. Uniform boundedness of multiplier iterates is satisfied if the Mangasarian-Fromovitz constraint qualification is assumed, for example. By using the stability theorem by Hager and Gowda (1999), and Wright (2001), the distance from the current point to the solution set is related to the residual of the KKT conditions.By controlling a barrier parameter and adopting a suitable line search procedure, we prove the quadratic convergence of the proposed algorithm.  相似文献

We consider the problem of finding solutions of systems of monotone equations. The Newton-type algorithm proposed in Ref. 1 has a very nice global convergence property in that the whole sequence of iterates generated by this algorithm converges to a solution, if it exists. Superlinear convergence of this algorithm is obtained under a standard nonsingularity assumption. The nonsingularity condition implies that the problem has a unique solution; thus, for a problem with more than one solution, such a nonsingularity condition cannot hold. In this paper, we show that the superlinear convergence of this algorithm still holds under a local error-bound assumption that is weaker than the standard nonsingularity condition. The local error-bound condition may hold even for problems with nonunique solutions. As an application, we obtain a Newton algorithm with very nice global and superlinear convergence for the minimum norm solution of linear programs.This research was supported by the Singapore-MIT Alliance and the Australian Research Council.  相似文献

In this paper, we present the new trust region method for nonlinear equations with the trust region converging to zero. The new method preserves the global convergence of the traditional trust region methods in which the trust region radius will be larger than a positive constant. We study the convergence rate of the new method under the local error bound condition which is weaker than the nonsingularity. An example given by Y.X. Yuan shows that the convergence rate can not be quadratic. Finally, some numerical results are given. In this work, we first study in detail the formulation of the primal-dual interior-point method for linear programming. We show that, contrary to popular belief, it cannot be viewed as a damped Newton method applied to the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker conditions for the logarithmic barrier function problem. Next, we extend the formulation to general nonlinear programming, and then validate this extension by demonstrating that this algorithm can be implemented so that it is locally and Q-quadratically convergent under only the standard Newton method assumptions. 基于最优化方法求解约束非线性方程组的一个突出困难是计算 得到的仅是该优化问题的稳定点或局部极小点,而非方程组的解点.由此引出的问题是如何从一个稳定点出发得到一个相对于方程组解更好的点. 该文采用投影型算法,推广了Nazareth-Qi$^{[8,9]}$ 求解无约束非线性方程组的拉格朗日全局算法(Lagrangian Global-LG)于约束方程上; 理论上证明了从优化问题的稳定点出发,投影LG方法可寻找到一个更好的点. 数值试验证明了LG方法的有效性.  相似文献

In recent work, the local convergence behavior of path-following interior-point methods and sequential quadratic programming methods for nonlinear programming has been investigated for the case in which the assumption of linear independence of the active constraint gradients at the solution is replaced by the weaker Mangasarian–Fromovitz constraint qualification. In this paper, we describe a stabilization of the primal-dual interior-point approach that ensures rapid local convergence under these conditions without enforcing the usual centrality condition associated with path-following methods. The stabilization takes the form of perturbations to the coefficient matrix in the step equations that vanish as the iterates converge to the solution.  相似文献

We consider the approximation of nonlinear bilevel mathematical programs by solvable programs of the same type, i.e., bilevel programs involving linear approximations of the upper-level objective and all constraint-defining functions, as well as a quadratic approximation of the lower-level objective. We describe the main features of the algorithm and the resulting software. Numerical experiments tend to confirm the promising behavior of the method.  相似文献
