Approximation of smooth functions by polyharmonic cardinal splines inL p (ℝn) spacespace

The remainders and the convergence of cardinal polyharmonic spline interpolation are studied, and the asymptotic behavior of the best approximation by polyharmonic spline and the averageK-width of some class of smooth functions defined on the Euclidean spaceR ⁿ are determined. Weak monotonicity inequality and partial regularity for harmonic maps

The notion of locally weak monotonicity inequality for weakly harmonic maps is introduced and various results on this class of maps are obtained. For example, the locally weak monotonicity inequality is nearly equivalent to theε-regularity. Blow-up of the Solution for a <Emphasis Type="Italic">p</Emphasis>-Laplacian Equation with Positive Initial Energy

In this paper we consider a p-Laplacian equation with the homogeneous Dirichlet boundary condition. We establish a blow-up result for certain solution with positive initial energy. SU(3) limit ofsdgpf interacting boson model

TheSU(3) limit of thesdg-pf interacting boson model is proposed. Applications to the collective states of^236,238U are discussed. It is shown that the spectra can be well described by the model. Dynamics of the Overdamped Coupled Josephson Junctions with an Interference Term

Employing the monotonicity approach and the theory of orientation preserving circle homeomorphisms, we provide a rigorous analysis on the IV characteristics of the coupled Josephson junctions including an interference term in a specified parameters region. In particular, when the system is driven by a dc-current, we show that there exist either globally stable single-wave-form solutions if and only if the average voltage is nonzero, or equilibria if and only if the average voltage vanishes. Convergence of Newton‘’s Method and Uniqueness of the Solution of Equations in Banach SpacesⅡ

Some results on convergence of Newton‘s method in Banach spaces are established under the assumption that the derivative of the opderators satisfies the radius or center Lipschitz condition with a weak L average.     

Asymptotic behavior of gibbs functions forM-band wavelet expansions

In this paper the asymptotic behavior of Gibbs function for a class ofM-band wavelet expansions is given. In particular, the Daubechies’ wavelets are included in this class. Mann iteration of weak convergence theorems in Banach space

In this paper, by using Mann＇s iteration process we will establish several weak convergence theorems for approximating a fixed point of k-strictly pseudocontractive mappings with respect to p in p-uniformly convex Banach spaces. Our results answer partially the open question proposed by Marino and Xu, and extend Reich＇s theorem from nonexpansive mappings to k-strict pseudocontractive mappings.     

<Emphasis Type="Italic">m</Emphasis> Components-admissible solutions of systems of higher-order partial differential equations on <Emphasis Type="Italic">C</Emphasis><Superscript><Emphasis Type="Italic">n</Emphasis></Superscript>

Using value distribution theory and techniques in several complex variables,we investigate the problem of existence of m components-admissible solutions of a class of systems of higher-order partial differential equations in several complex variables and estimate the number of admissible components of solutions.Some related results will also be obtained.     

A large sample study of randomly weighted bootstrap in linear models

The method of randomly weighted bootstrap is used to derive the approximation ofM-estimates in linear models. It is shown that the approximation is asymptotically valid under some mild conditions. On flatness properties of cyclic S-posets

In this paper, we discuss flatness properties of cyclic S-posets. As applications, some partially ordered monoids are characterized and some results on S-acts can be also obtained. Research supported by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (No.10626012).     

LINEARIZED OSCILLATIONS OF DELAY DIFFERENTIAL EQUATIONS AND APPLICATIONS

The necessary and sufficient conditions for the oscillations of every solution of the nonlinear delay equation x(t) f(x(t l)) g(x([t-k]))=0 are oblained.     

Finite p-Groups Whose Abelian Subgroups Have a Trivial Intersection

A subgroup H of a finite group G is called a TI-subgroup if H ∩ H^x = 1 or H for all x ∈ G. In this paper, a complete classification for finite p-groups, in which all abelian subgroups are TI-subgroups, is given.     

‖A −1‖∞ and equidiagonal-dominance

In this paper, the matrix of equidiagonal-dominance is defined and several theorems about ‖A ⁻¹‖_∞ and its evaluation are established. Many interesting numerical examples are given. Converse and saturation results on Tikhonov regularization together witha posteriori parameter choice

In this paper we give a method to characterize the smoothness of functions inL ₁ by anr-regular multiresolution analysis and its derivatives.This project is supported by Zhejiang Provincial Natural Science Foundation and the Special Program of China.     

Asymptotic Behavior of Solutions to a Class of Systems of Delay Differential Equations

The authors investigate the asymptotic behavior of solutions to a class of systems of delay differential equations. It is shown that every bounded solution of such a class of systems tends to a constant vector as t→∞. Our results improve and extend some corresponding ones already known.     

Expansion of frames to tight frames

We show that every Bessel sequence （and therefore every frame） in a separable Hilbert space can be expanded to a tight frame by adding some elements. The proof is based on a recent generalization of the frame concept, the g-frame, which illustrates that g-frames could be useful in the study of frame theory. As an application, we prove that any Gabor frame can be expanded to a tight frame by adding one window function.     

Blocking analysis andT(1) theorem

TheT(1) theorem with a weak condition on the distribution kernel is proved by using a new method—blocking analysis. It improves a result of Meyer’s. The decomposition of Kv into K2×K5''''s

The decomposition of the complete graph Kv into Kr×Kc's, the products of Kr and Kc,is originated from the use of DNA library screening. In this paper, we consider the case where r=2 and c = 5, and show that such a decomposition exists if and only if v ≡ 1 (mod 25).
