A PDE PROBLEM ARISING FROM CALCULATION OF THE MODEL FOR CONTINUOUS CASTING OF STEEL

This paper deals with the relationship between a certain three-dimensional elliptic problem and a two-dimensional parabolic problem, which arises from numerical calculation in the process of the continuous casting of steel.     

THE GLOBAL ARTIFICIAL BOUNDARY CONDITIONS FOR NUMERICAL SIMULATIONS OF THE 3D FLOW AROUND A SUBMERGED BODY

We consider the numerical approximations of the three-dimensional steady potential flow around a body moving in a liquid of finite constant depth at constant speed and distance below a free surface in a channel. One vertical side is introduced as the up-stream artificial boundary and two vertical sides are introduced as the downstream arti-ficial boundaries. On the artificial boundaries, a sequence of high-order global artificial boundary conditions are given. Then the original problem is reduced to a problem defined on a finite computational domain, which is equivalent to a variational problem. After solving the variational problem by the finite element method, we obtain the numerical approximation of the original problem. The numerical examples show that the artificial boundary conditions given in this paper are very effective.     

A NUMERICAL EMBEDDING METHOD FOR SOLVING THE NONLINEAR COMPLEMENTARITY PROBLEM（II）-ALGORITHM AND ITS CONVERGENCE

In this paper, based on the results presented in part I of this paper[18],we present a numerical embedding algorithm for solving the nonlinear complementarityproblem, and prove its convergence carefully. Numerical experiments show that thealgorithm is successful.

Authors analyze a class of solutions for which the zero-dispersion limit provides good approximations.

The local well-posedness of the Cauchy problem for the Hirota equation is established for low regularity data in Sobolev spaces Hs(s≥-1/4).
