In this paper we consider zero-relaxation limits for periodic smooth solutions of Euler–Maxwell systems. For well-prepared initial data, we propose an approximate solution based on a new asymptotic expansion up to any order. For ill-prepared initial data, we construct initial layer corrections in an explicit way. In both cases, the asymptotic expansions are valid in time intervals independent of the relaxation time and their convergence is justified by establishing uniform energy estimates.  相似文献

Following a suggestion from A. Thiaville and J. Miltat, whose work and experiments are about ferromagnetic thin layers and nanowires, we study in this paper the behaviour of the Landau–Lifschitz equation in a straight ferromagnetic wire. As the diameter of the domain and the exchange coefficient in the equation simultaneously tend to zero, we perform an asymptotic expansion to precise the solution for well‐prepared initial conditions and are led to consider 2D exterior problems. This paper is devoted to the study of the nonlinear stability of the composite wave consisting of a rarefaction wave and a viscous contact discontinuity wave of the non‐isentropic Navier–Stokes–Poisson system with free boundary. We first construct the composite wave through the quasineutral Euler equations and then prove that the composite wave is time asymptotically stable under small perturbations for the corresponding initial‐boundary value problem of the non‐isentropic Navier–Stokes–Poisson system. Only the strength of the viscous contact wave is required to be small. However, the strength of the rarefaction wave can be arbitrarily large. In our analysis, the domain decomposition plays an important role in obtaining the zero‐order energy estimates. By introducing this technique, we successfully overcome the difficulty caused by the critical terms involved with the linear term, which does not satisfy the quasineural assumption for the composite wave. We deal with the memory relaxation of the viscous Cahn–Hilliard equation in 3‐D, covering the well‐known hyperbolic version of the model. We study the long‐term dynamic of the system in dependence of the scaling parameter of the memory kernel ε and of the viscosity coefficient δ. In particular we construct a family of exponential attractors, which is robust as both ε and δ go to zero, provided that ε is linearly controlled by δ. We consider the problem of the asymptotic behaviour in the L2‐norm of solutions of the Navier–Stokes equations. We consider perturbations to the rest state and to stationary motions. In both cases we study the initial‐boundary value problem in unbounded domains with non‐compact boundary. In particular, we deal with domains with varying and possibly divergent exits to infinity and aperture domains. Copyright © 2007 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this paper, we construct a weakly‐nonlinear d'Alembert‐type solution of the Cauchy problem for the Boussinesq‐Klein‐Gordon (BKG) equation. Similarly to our earlier work based on the use of spatial Fourier series, we consider the problem in the class of periodic functions on an interval of finite length (including the case of localized solutions on a large interval), and work with the nonlinear partial differential equation with variable coefficients describing the deviation from the oscillating mean value. Unlike our earlier paper, here we develop a novel multiple‐scales procedure involving fast characteristic variables and two slow time scales and averaging with respect to the spatial variable at a constant value of one or another characteristic variable, which allows us to construct an explicit and compact d'Alembert‐type solution of the nonlinear problem in terms of solutions of two Ostrovsky equations emerging at the leading order and describing the right‐ and left‐propagating waves. Validity of the constructed solution in the case when only the first initial condition for the BKG equation may have nonzero mean value follows from our earlier results, and is illustrated numerically for a number of instructive examples, both for periodic solutions on a finite interval, and localized solutions on a large interval. We also outline an extension of the procedure to the general case, when both initial conditions may have nonzero mean values. Importantly, in all cases, the initial conditions for the leading‐order Ostrovsky equations by construction have zero mean, while initial conditions for the BKG equation may have nonzero mean values.  相似文献

We study the long-time behaviour of solutions of the Vlasov–Poisson–Fokker–Planck equation for initial data small enough and satisfying some suitable integrability conditions. Our analysis relies on the study of the linearized problems with bounded potentials decaying fast enough for large times. We obtain global bounds in time for the fundamental solutions of such problems and their derivatives. This allows to get sharp bounds for the decay of the difference between the solutions of the Vlasov–Poisson–Fokker–Planck equation and the solution of the free equation with the same initial data. Thanks to these bounds, we get an explicit form for the second term in the asymptotic expansion of the solutions for large times. © 1998 B. G. Teubner Stuttgart—John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

The main purpose of this paper is concerned with blow‐up smooth solutions to Navier–Stokes–Poisson (N‐S‐P) equations. First, we present a sufficient condition on the blow up of smooth solutions to the N‐S‐P system. Then we construct a family of analytical solutions that blow up in finite time. We consider the Navier–Stokes equations in an aperture domain of the three‐dimensional Euclidean space. We are interested in proving the existence of regular solutions corresponding to small initial data and flux through the aperture. The flux is assumed to be smooth and bounded on (0, +∞). As a consequence, we prove the existence of a time‐periodic solution corresponding to a time‐periodic flux through the aperture. Finally, we compare our solution with a solution belonging to a wider class, showing that, if such a solution does exist, then the two solutions coincide. We consider the planar rotation-symmetric motion by inertia of a viscous incompressible fluid in a ring with free boundary. We reduce the corresponding initial-boundary value problem for the Navier–Stokes equations to some problem for a coupled system of one parabolic equation and two ordinary differential equations. We suppose that the coefficient of the derivatives of the sought functions with respect to time (the quasistationary parameter) is small; so the system is singularly perturbed. In this article we construct an asymptotic expansion for a solution to the rotating ring problem in a small quasistationary parameter and obtain a smallness estimate for the difference between the exact and approximate solutions.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the zero viscosity and capillarity limit problem for the one‐dimensional compressible isentropic Navier–Stokes–Korteweg equations when the corresponding Euler equations have rarefaction wave solutions. In the case that either the effects of initial layer are ignored or the rarefaction waves are smooth, we prove that the solutions of the Navier–Stokes–Korteweg equation with centered rarefaction wave data exist for all time and converge to the centered rarefaction waves as the viscosity and capillarity number vanish, and we also obtain a rate of convergence, which is valid uniformly for all time. These results are showed by a scaling argument and elementary energy analysis. Copyright © 2016 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this paper, the convergence of time-dependent Euler-Maxwell equations to compressible Euler-Poisson equations in a torus via the non-relativistic limit is studied. The local existence of smooth solutions to both systems is proved by using energy esti- mates for first order symmetrizable hyperbolic systems. For well prepared initial data the convergence of solutions is rigorously justified by an analysis of asymptotic expansions up to any order. The authors perform also an initial layer analysis for general initial data and prove the convergence of asymptotic expansions up to first order.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the global existence of classical solutions to the three‐dimensional compressible Navier–Stokes equations with a density‐dependent viscosity coefficient (λ = λ(ρ)). For the general initial data, which could be either vacuum or non‐vacuum, we prove the global existence of classical solutions, under the assumption that the viscosity coefficient μ is large enough. In this per, we consider a special class of initial data for the three‐dimensional incompressible Navier–Stokes equations with gravity. We show that, under such conditions, the incompressible Navier‐Stokes equations with gravity are globally well posed, and the velocity minus gravity term has finite energy. The important features of the initial data is that the velocity fields minus gravity term are almost parallel to the corresponding vorticity fields in a very large space domain. In this paper, an asymptotic analysis of the (non‐conserved) Penrose–Fife phase field system for two vanishing time relaxation parameters ε and δ is developed, in analogy with the similar analyses for the phase field model proposed by G. Caginalp (Arch. Rational Mech. Anal. 1986; 92 :205–245), which were carried out by Rossi and Stoth (Adv. Math. Sci. Appl. 2003; 13 :249–271; Quart. Appl. Math. 1995; 53 :695–700). Although formally the singular limits for ε ↓ 0 and for ε and δ ↓ 0 are, respectively, the viscous Cahn–Hilliard equation and the Cahn–Hilliard equation, it turns out that the Penrose–Fife system is indeed a bad approximation for these equations. Therefore, we consider an alternative approximating phase field system, which could be viewed as a generalization of the classical Penrose–Fife phase field system, featuring a double non‐linearity given by two maximal monotone graphs. A well‐posedness result is proved for such a system, and it is shown that the solutions converge to the unique solution of the viscous Cahn–Hilliard equation as ε ↓ 0, and of the Cahn–Hilliard equation as ε ↓ 0 and δ ↓ 0. The asymptotic behavior of the attraction–repulsion Keller–Segel model in one dimension is studied in this paper. The global existence of classical solutions and nonconstant stationary solutions of the attraction–repulsion Keller–Segel model in one dimension were previously established by Liu and Wang (2012), which, however, only provided a time‐dependent bound for solutions. In this paper, we improve the results of Liu and Wang (2012) by deriving a uniform‐in‐time bound for solutions and furthermore prove that the model possesses a global attractor. For a special case where the attractive and repulsive chemical signals have the same degradation rate, we show that the solution converges to a stationary solution algebraically as time tends to infinity if the attraction dominates. In this paper our objective is to provide physically reasonable solutions for the stationary Navier–Stokes equations in a two-dimensional domain with two outlets to infinity, a semi-strip Π and a half-plane K. The same problem in an aperture domain, i.e. in a domain with two half-plane outlets to infinity, has been studied but only under symmetry restrictions on the data. Here, we assume that the main asymptotic term of the solution takes an antisymmetric form in K and apply the technique of weighted spaces with detached asymptotics, i.e. we use spaces where the functions have prescribed asymptotic forms in the outlets. After first showing that the corresponding Stokes problem admits a unique solution if and only if certain compatibility conditions are satisfied, we write the Navier–Stokes equations as a perturbation of the Stokes problem and the crucial compatibility condition as an algebraic equation by which the flux becomes determined. Assuming that the coefficient of the main (antisymmetric) asymptotic term of the solution in K does not vanish and that the data are sufficiently small, we use a contraction principle to solve the Navier–Stokes system coupled with the algebraic equation. Finally, we discuss the ill-posedness of the Navier–Stokes problem with prescribed flux.  相似文献

In this article, we consider a three‐dimensional Navier–Stokes–Voight model with memory where relaxation effects are described through a distributed delay. We prove the existence of uniform global attractors , where ? ∈ (0,1) is the scaling parameter in the memory kernel. Furthermore, we prove that the model converges to the classical three‐dimensional Navier–Stokes–Voight system in an appropriate sense as ? → 0. In particular, we construct a family of exponential attractors Ξ? that is robust as ? → 0. Copyright © 2013 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

In this article we consider the spectral Galerkin method with the implicit/explicit Euler scheme for the two‐dimensional Navier–Stokes equations with the L2 initial data. Due to the poor smoothness of the solution on [0,1), we use the the spectral Galerkin method based on high‐dimensional spectral space HM and small time step Δt2 on this interval. While on [1,∞), we use the spectral Galerkin method based on low‐dimensional spectral space Hm(m = O(M1/2)) and large time step Δt. For the spectral Galerkin method, we provide the standard H2‐stability and the L2‐error analysis. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Numer Methods Partial Differential Eq 2007  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the compressible bipolar Navier–Stokes–Poisson equations with a non‐flat doping profile in three‐dimensional space. The existence and uniqueness of the non‐constant stationary solutions are established when the doping profile is a small perturbation of a positive constant state. Then under the smallness assumption of the initial perturbation, we show the global existence of smooth solutions to the Cauchy problem near the stationary state. Finally, the convergence rates are obtained by combining the energy estimates for the nonlinear system and the L2‐decay estimates for the linearized equations.
